MobileMagic: G-Enabled, Button mapper and more
Mobilemagic looks interesting but it has battery draining.
Any similiar tool? Or is there any code guide line for button mapper software?

I've been searching forever for a low memory application that lets you map the close app to a button on the phone. The closest thing ive found is wisbar lite but i really dpnt wanna install that.
ae button plus lets you do it
never heard of it can you give me the link? thanks for the quick responce
PHM Keys
PHM Keys will work as well to assign Close to a button:
http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/Keys/
Although the app shows as having been built in 2004, it works perfectly on every device I've tried (up to and including Hermes). The Alt+Tab option for a button is pretty handy sometimes too.
http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html try this and you will never use x button that comes with the phone..it was option for mapping a button as well
also this link has a zip to map the launcher to open and close apps..

I've been Using SoftsKey And you can map The Soft Key to Close apps...As far as Using a Hardware Button Like on the side of the Hermes. The apps Mentioned abov Work well.
Can PHM Keys assign the real closing feature of X-button to the OK button?

what if I want a button (or a soft button) for "rotate" if the button is pressed ?
any tools or configuration can do that ?
Not sure what "retate" means but if you are looking for button remapping look up AE Button Plus.

how come you reply so fast ... I have just corrected the typo ..
what I mean is a soft key button on screen that only if I need a rotate screen then I press that button.
Hmm. Don't know of any soft-button way to do it... but if you enable screen rotation in HD Tweak or Advanced Config you can remap a hard-button through the Button settings to do it...

You can use this solution. Cabs at the end of the post, giving you the option to use either the left or right softkey on the home page to rotate.
Is there any way to map a a hardware key (or better yet, a long-key press) to camera action? I miss my the camera button the most from my wizard.
Start > Settings > Personal > Buttons.
I have my PTT button mapped to my camera but I'm using the Tilt2. I don't think the TP2 has one of those though =/
Thanks for the tip.
I can use buttons to load the camera application, but i still need to hit the screen to take a picture. Is the functionality different on your Tilt2? Ideally i would like to have a hardware button for the camera action.
On the tilt2 I can press the same hardware button that launches the camera to take a picture. Not sure about the functionality difference though
Try looking for the "Keyboard Config" app. I forget where I got it, but it lets you remap any buttons to anything.
It may be a restriction of the rom (deepshining). Thanks for confirming it should work

i just set the favorite "star" button to be the shutter, in Settings->Button
The Enter key actually acts as the shutter button in the Camera application.
Use the Rhodium Keyboard Controller to map any key you want to this key.

Right now i'm looking into remapping the buttons on my One V. When I look into atmel-touchscreen.kl and himax-touchscreen.kl under /system/usr/keylayout/, I see that the search button is mapped to "key 217". I curious to what action key 217 is actually mapped to, as I've tried long pressing and combination pressing every thing on the phone.
Could someone enlighten us on the mysterious key 217?

Do any of the other One series phones have a search key? Maybe they forgot to remove that line? Just an idea.
Key 217 doesn't apply on our phone as it doesn't have a search button.
Just some redundant code probably.
In phones with a search button, you can remap key 217 i.e. the search button, to the recent apps or the power button or whatever...
First come smiles. Then come lies. Last is gunfire.
Is it possible? With root maybe?
I suppose with root, you could do it. You would just reassign the button mapping, which can be done with Gravitybox, for single tap. However, it obviously won't change the look of the button, just the functionality.
