I was playing with the sensor api but when I tried the testapp for the navsensor, it could not find the HTCAPI.dll, after a lot of googling it looks like it is only on the diamond, but there has to be a similar library on the HD, so does anyone now how I fix this so I can play whit the nav sensor? Whitout have to copy the HTCAPI.dll to the phone. I have read that this could make som programs unstable like opera.
This makes little sense, since the Touch HD doesn't have a Navigation Sensor. More over, the Touch HD does have htcapi.dll! This dll provides the API for the HTC sensors, like the accelerometer. However this version of the DLL does not provide the correct connector points for the Nav Sensor, as there is no hardware available.
Copying the htcapi.dll from the Touch Diamond makes the application work correctly, as the DLL is now providing the correct API, however you will not be able to use it, since no hardware signals will be sent.
The easiest is to ignore the NavSensor demo and continue with the other sensors.

Just got my new xda2s, and wanted to know if there was a patch or something to make the camara full screen like my old xda2 in capture and video mode, or is that just the way it is now.

Is there no way to make the camera output work full screen and unlike the xda II the zoom doesnt seem to work.. or is there something been done wrong?
bR
To zoom you must reduce the resolution of the picture in manage picture settings (bit of a scam really)
i too would like to know about the full screen camera function like the old xda's cause my mate has one and i prefer that better to the small screen version on the M2000
Yeah, bizarre that, there must be a registry hack to allow the zoom to be used in standard capture mode? Mine works fine in video, but not in photo mode!
I must admit that when I bought by Blue Angel, I didn't really consider the camera other than to note thats its only 640x480 - there are just TOO many other toys to play with. But after having used it a couple of times, it would have been nicer to have a higher resolution, zoom etc, but what the heck, this is a PDA/phone, not a Nikon
All I do to get a "zoom" is crop & resize the images in paintshop pro before printing them.
I know many Samsung I780 owner is facing the resolution problem on that 320x320 display.
Some program is not work or identify the wrong resolution on it.
For example, the SlingPlayer mobile is recognized my i780 as 240x240 display and cannot support fullscreen playback with a small windows look like 160x160.
For this reason i tried Tweek2K2, but i did not support on non-Vga machine and Force High Resolution 1.65 but it didn't helpful to improve the screen layout.
Finally I try the old software “Nydiot Virtual Display 5.02” it solved all the resolution issue on my Samsung i780,
*** You should install the 96dpi respack, if you have any display problem ****
Now I can emulator to 320x240 and 240x320 resolution without dropping the system performance. (use 100% zoom, don’t scaler the screen)
**** You souhld type the "240" by your own in the combine box ****

wow,... thats a good find.. im downloading now and will post my results here later!

After install the virtual display, the RealVga is useless, as the Nydiot Virtual display support 320x320 of i780 golden resolution. And i can switch to any resolution without reset the phone.
I am highly recommend the i780 owner to install this software.

Would be interested on how you managed to get 240x320 res. When I tried this software on fresh install no Real VGA nothing I only have opion for 320 or above res. There is no 240 in the drop down list in settings, Also messed up my icons in the program and settings screen.
Anyone else had any luck with this? I think I might have to stick with Real VGA unless I'm doing something wrong.
hi
i tried it extensively .. first i couldnt find the 240 res option and second .. until someone points out the ideal settings i wont be switching from realvgajust yet ! good find none the less !

if you type 240 on the combo box you'll get the 240. it supports 240x320 and 320x240. it's usefull in case you have some SW that do not work on default resolution.
hi
plz ppl with omnia answer these questions..as many ppl wantto get this phone it would help all of us knowing some interesting questions about it
1)does real vga work on it
2)is there an issue using programs especially games on it
3)have you tried opera 9.5 if so how does it render
4)is the 5mp camera as goodas nokia n95 camera?
5)can you post some screen shots so we can get a better idea of the actual resolution
6)hows the gps functionality??
plz answer as many questions as you can!
thanks
1) the screen is WQVGA so that means Wide Quarter VGA, so no... it's not VGA
2)because of the wierd screen resolution (400x240), games tend to only work in landscape mode... if you try to turn them rightside up, the buttons won't work on the touchscreen (they're messed up)
3)haven't tried opera...
4)in my opinion it isn't as good.. although it has more options with wich to play, it's kind of laggy (you press the button, you wait for the autofocus and then it takes the pic) - but maybe if you fool around a bit with the settings you'll get better results
5)i'll post pictures made with it and some pictures of it tomorrow perhaps
6)the gps is actually assisted-gps enabled and it works pretty good... i even got gps signal inside (and not near a window) - iGo 8 works fine, so does navigon and garmin, haven't tried tomtom route66 or others...

It's for PocketPC, so I'd just try. Only the resolution of the Diamond is different (well, maybe also camera drivers). What does it do? show the image recording of the front camera on screen?
In general, when you see a program is for PocketPC, it will work on most HTC and other windows mobile devices. Sometimes there's a restriction because of the resolution used (older programs often use 320x240, which doesn't look too pretty on the 800x480 screen of the X1), but most of the times they will work.
Like in 'normal' Windows there may be a restriction because of the type of program. Maybe you need .Net compact (newest version is often installed in X1 roms) or some program or driver. If that's the case, it should be mentioned at the download or info page of a program imo.
Some programs are written for a certain type of Windows Mobile (2003, 2003 SE, WM5, WM6.1 or WM6.5) and use instructions that aren't available on older WM versions. Usually you'll find such info on the info or download page of the program as well.
If you're not sure whether the program will run or not: just try . The chance it will leave your device broken is very small and again: if the program is that specific and shouldn't be used on another device, it is usually mentioned somewhere (for instance HardSPL and roms are device specific, but then again those aren't really programs).
Let's look at the program info:
Description :
Use this Make Up Mirror to make oneself up and when no real Mirror is available. The program activates the Front Camera and you see yourself. Only for HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro.
# Image from the Front Camera, suitable as Mirror
# After closing and on starting the usual camera function the rear camera is active again
# For fast access the program can be laid upon an button
# Daily utilization as Make-up-Mirror
# Only for HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro and compatible devices*
This program works only on devices from HTC and identical devices, e.g. HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch Pro, O2 XDA Diamond, T-Mobile MDA Compact IV and future devices from HTC.
System requirements:
# System: Windows Mobile for WM6.1
# Screen: 240x320 Pixel or higher
# Processors: Samsung, Intel® PXA XScale, StrongARM, OMAP, Qualcom
# Newest technology: Program developed in Visual Studio.Net.
Compatibility:
Pocket PC Windows Mobile 6.0
Pocket PC VGA resolution (fullscreen 640x480)
Pocket PC Square VGA resolution (480x480)
Pocket PC Square QVGA resolution (240x240)
Pocket PC QVGA resolution (320x240)

The info says you need WM6.1 or above: check
you need resolution 320x240 or above: check
you can use a device with a Qualcomm chip: check
supported resolutions don't include 800x480, but this probably means that 640x480 will be stretched a bit or a black bar will be displayed. I think the program will still work.
why don't you simply use the Camera Application of you X1?
In the Camera Settings you can choose which camera should be used, Front or Rear Camera. Is guess its the same effect an you can save the Price of 2 Euro.

I want to be able to take a high resolution picture from within a .Net application. I don't want to use the Camera Dialog as that's an external dialog to my app. I have seen a software that has done something similar, so I know it is possible. Here is the link to the site
http://www.quickmark.com.tw.
I guess they use the proprietary camera api of the manufacturer. I currently use HTC Tilt as my testing device and it's difficult to get it from them.
Is there anyway round this? I have also tried DirectShow, however the resolution is poor. Is there an HACK out there?
I primarily code in C#, so if anyone can help, I'll be grateful.
HTC closing their devices from default windows use by interfaces.
By quering windows camera device we have only 160x120 res with 10 fps, but closed HTC camera drivers have full usage.
Fix is only hacking htc drivers
