Recently I went thru a lot of headaches trying to change the language on a Dell axim x50v from Italian to English. Apparently there are a couple of methods depending on what OS the axim has installed.
In my case, the axim had Windows Mobile 2003 installed. Following the directions on the url below, it was not too hard to change the language.

What was hard was finding the appropriate files. I thought I would save someone else the trouble and have therefore uploaded the needed files to rapidshare. You can download these at the link below. Simply decompress the archive and run the aximupdate.exe file, and the machine should have English installed in about 15 minutes. Just follow the program leads.

This file is ONLY for WM2003 equipped machines. If you have another OS the procedure is different. I hope to do conversions for other languages, and if I am successful I will post the links here.

I have had the same problem with my X50v (A02 ROM). The Hex-edit thing doesn't work with that ROM. Luckily i found the old backup file (ris extension). After restore to A00 ROM i was able to update an hex-edited english ROM.
Guys, second post here, but now in a specific topic to find a solution.
I own a x50v that Dell Brazil used to sell. This comes with Brasillian Portuguese language. The problem is that Dell stopped updating ROM for this language at version WM2003_A02.
I want to update that, but all ROM's thsat i found are made in English (that is no problem for me). But it seems that my PDA accept only Brazillian Portuguese ROM's.
I was looking to buy a WM% or WM6, but Dell Brazil have no support for it. Is there any way to change Language setting for a WM% or WM6 ROM?
Hope to get a sollution.

Hmz, that's weird, considering that Maglite himself might well have had a non-English version to start with.
Are you sure you did everything correctly? If you check the original thread, it points out how files should be copied on the SD card. It also states that not all SD cards will work, that could be your problem.

I am new to this forum and I want to update my Dell Axim X50v (WM2003SE german) to WM6 english... I have been reading every thread I found about this, but I still have a problem.
As far as I know, I have to do following:
a) update my Axim to WM2003SE english A02...
b) then update to WM2003SE english A03
for step b) I found the patched aximupdate.exe but not for step a)

Does anyone has the file or any other idea to get my axim to WM6

I think you first have to upgrade to WM5 and then WM6..
edit: look here at the bottom of the first post youn find this passage:
"Attention! If you have Windows Mobile 2003SE ROM on your device, FIRST, please download THIS ARCHIVE (RAR 32.4 MB), and update your PDA to A01 Windows Mobile 5 ROM. After that, please download official WM5 A02 ROM and update your PDA to WM5 A02 ROM."

I can´t update to WM5 directly because of different language !!
First of all, I have to get an english WM2003SE version on my axim, then update with new bootloader to WM5 and then finally get to WM6...
or am I wrong ?

I`m trying to rollback my X50v back from WM6.1 EN to WM5 PT-BR because I`m giving it to my wife, and her English is even poor then mine.
I have the AximX50v_WM5_A00BR.IMG file released by Dell. So, I have to do one of the following things:
1 - Convert my .IMG file to a .NB0 (I tried the IMG2NB0F.exe app, but it gave me a 0Kb file) or download one;
2 – Downgrade my WM6 to a PPC2003SE PT-BR and so use the Dell WM5 PT-BR upgrade;
3 – Try to explain to my wife that I could not give to her a Portuguese version of the OS and throw away my holidays.
I will really appreciate a help that put me in one of the first two options.

I have a Dell Axim x50v which is running French edition of Windows Mobile 2003 SE. The ROM version A02 (05200500) is also in French. I want everything in English. Can anyone help me out, since I need it badly to manage my projects. Thank you.
