When I click on a link in youtube mobile the streaming application is launched, it says connecting for a few seconds and then it says "failed to find network".
I run Black Shadow.
does anyone else have the same problem. Any suggestion is appreciated.
Check the other thread
I'm about to reply there
about to reply where?
I have a similar problem, i get the "failed to connect" error. Under options i've set it to connect via media net and the internet and still not working.
I know i could install realplayer but then it doesn't auto open, i have to save the file then open it.
the Custel Cingular apps cab is causing the problem. do a hard reset and it works fine. A simple uninstall doesn't work. It would be great if someone could step in and tell us how to modify the registry to have the file type associations change to use the streaming player. I like the cingular apps, but it's nice to actually stream the videos (Maxim Mobile too)
Having the same problem as well.. i've been digging around the registry, but I haven't figured it out yet....
Wow thats crazy. If you click the link on m.youtube.com you get the error, but if you type it into manually into streaming media it works fine!
I used the disable proxy in the proxy manager folder and then it worked fine.
That is using Custel 2.5. And MediaNet.

Could you go into detail where the proxy manager folder is located? Thanks!
its located in a folder under program files but that doesn't seem to fix the problem the main issue is the file association of 3gp to realplayer. i know in sktools you can edit these file associations i haven't tried it yet though.
when I click a link.. it says loading and and does nothing.. realplayer or nothing pops up at all....
should it be using realplayer or tcmp player? i'm gonna try to reset and see what happens..
soft reset, and nothing happened...
let me know what everyone thinks.
I am running the new Elf Rom. Youtube loads right into Streaming Video..not problem.

Using Custel 2.5, and it opens in something called "Streaming Media for Pocket PC" version 2.10h (build 314.713) it looks like it's a HTC application that replaced Windows Media Player.
And when I posted about the proxy disable, that fixed the problem for me, it had just kept looping back to the opening page in m.youtube until I disabled the proxy.
i think the issue is that some people don't run cingular video and are fine because the streaming video app pulls up like it should and plays the video. For some of us that have cingular video realplayer is set to default 3gp so it tries to open it but for some reason doesn't like to play it. In order to fix the problem for those that have cingular video we have to resolve the default app for 3gp video back to the streaming media program or use tcpmp as it can open 3gp video.
Streaming Media Cab {YouTube}
Does anybody have the Htc streaming media cab, not the one in the Touch. I need the one, that comes in most wm6 rom! YouTube a must have!
I am running black dymond 3.5 and have the problem described in the first post. I click the link in youtube -- watch video and it loads windows media player and then says connecting and then after sometime it says failed to find network and then back to the youtube page again.
I am not using cingular video nor do I have real player.
I am using wifi connection as I don;'t have unlimited data plan.

amen to that. i just installed tcpmp and changed file associations and its still not working or pointing to tcpmp. this is a must have for me also.
For Mobile YouTube Videos "RTSP Url" only
No, the TCPMP/player will not work this time, You need a player that will host rtsp, [example] rtsp://rtsp.youtube.com/youtube/videos/ect... You need a HTC streaming Media player that comes on most of the ppc wm6 ROM. That's why I looking for the cab file. Again it works like a charm on my MDA running Core 2.0, but I need the cab file for another device....!

HTC Streaming Media Player Cab Is What You Need
I have HTC Streaming Media, version v2.10 build 1025.621 on my MDA running the Core 2.0. The streaming media player will automatic open the rtsp url on http://m.youtube.com! That's the player you need. I connect to mobile youtube using wifi!
Whats up.
Just flashed to the new official ATT and I'm, loving it so far. I played around with a couple of the cooked builds before getting the official. Thanks to whoever leaked it. Anywayz down to business.
QUESTION: anybody got youtube to work on the new official WM6 release?
I have the new beta of TCPMP installed and the new wizzstar which is supposed to make http://m.youtube.com work for our WM6 tytn's.
for details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319226
No matter what i have tried i cannot get the file association to look at TCPMP. It always calls on realplayer which cannot play the file. I have tried to remove realplayer but this does not help. For those who do not know, Realplayer comes with WM6 ATT official. Supposedly people have done it for WM6 but noone has posted about the official release yet. Any input would be appreciated.
On a side note. Here is what i install to get more usability out of the device.
googlemaps - self explanatory
opera - newest beta
mochavnc - for remote VNC connections
SiriusWM5 - Sirius satelite radio ported to WinMO
TCPMP - Media player because Windows media player is teh suck
WM6 WMV9 codecs - enables TCPMP to play windows media in WM6
fp7_ppc_en - official Flash player for WinMo
Wizzstar FlashVideoBundle - was supposed to assist with youtube.
PCMKeyboard - A keyboard very much like the HTC Touch. Very Nice.
Remotedisplay for mobile - desktop control of your WinMo device.
Thanks,
J
Mobile Youtube should play through the Streaming Media app, not TCPMP. Mobile Youtube only has a very small collection of videos in poor quality to choose from.
Much better (IMHO) to watch the full Youtube video collection in full quality. All you need is TCPMP, an FLV plug-in (check my post here for a corrected version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325373 ) and then go to Mobytube.net and search for your Youtube video. It's a lot easier than it sounds and the quality's great!
Have fun.
You need to go into the settings of tcpmp then the file associations then check .flv, I think........
Orb
I use Orb 2.0 on my home PC. Then use the orb link in PIE to access You tube and all of my media at home. It transcodes FLV to streaming WMV and opens in WMP on your phone. Get access to everything without installing anything extra. Add a tuner card and get broadcast TV. Add Tivo2Go and stream your Tivo recordings. All for free and the price of powering your computer at home.
Gprs internet camera with video browser wm6
i cant veiw my security camara in my 9502 pls help
am using GPRS
youtubeplay
I've tried all the methods above and never had any luck. I found youtubeplay.cab in the forums. It's a stand alone program that searchs youtube and plays them in that program. It allows you to download the video or stream it. by far it is the easiest way to watch youtube videos. You only have to install one program, and you are done.
Another easy way to view youtube is in Skyfire. It's a private beta, I signed up months ago and got my invitation just few days ago. Its a really cool web browser, you phone doesn't render anything, their server does. It sends you the info already rendered, and its at least 2 times faster than any other browser I tried. It works with the actual youtube site, flash works, I haven't found anything yet that it won't work with. It's amazing.
I had posted this in another thread but only one reply was wondering if it may be WM6 related. A friend with a nokia phone sent me a couple of MMS video files but when I open them up they are blank. But they have an extension of 3GP. Does anyone know if the Artemis will read these by default or TCPMP play them. I have loaded Meshles rom is there any problems with this rom playing these type of files? Do you need to convert these firstly. If so to what format? The last one that was sent did not work but I then received a txt msg from ‘O2’ which informed me that:
“You have been sent a media message from nnnn that your mobile doesn’t support. View it at www.O2.uk/M by typing in your mobile number and pin”
Ay advice appreciated...cheers JD76...
I'm using Meschle's 3.01 rom, windows media player plays 3gp, but jerky, TCMP plays it full speed.
Hope that helps
thanks Kaigame...any other help/advice...cheers jd
Yep, TCMP, or download the trial of CorePlayer form coreplayer.com.
Can't say anymore really more, as TT says.....
The Core Media Player plays them fine, i saw your post, downloaded a 3gp file and tried it, i don't really use my phone for video yet

So you don't want my Pingu avi's then?? ;-)
Coreplayer/TCMP is the only player I've found that reliably plays video, and it's also the only player that handles A2DP bluetooth streaming properly.
I upgraded my phone from 5.x to 6.1 (Kavana Rom) tonight. I'm using the latest version of Kavana's rom, TCMP, the WM5 .dlls, and the wmvplugin stuff. However when I try to open a file from Orb it just warns me that a file with that name already exisist, opens TCMP, and after a few moments tells me that it "could not open URL".
I'm able to see the content at test.orb.com, so I don't know if the issue is with the phone or my installation of Orb. Or if it's a port setting issue, etc.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? And if so how did you resolve it?
Thanks.

Not sure if this is your problem, but I too have never been able to get TCPMP to work with ORB. The only two programs that i got to work with ORB were windows media player and pocket player. Try them and see if you get different results.
BTW: Pocket Player is better than WMP since it has the equializer function
Same Problem Here

I have the exact same problem here, research is now in motion for a fix. I see that you have made the TCPM player the defaul player on your mobile device, but Orb will no longer come in (play) like it did with the other ROM's. I went back to the wmp, now it works fine, but I still want the TCPMP again to be my default player when viewing Orb..........! The PudgeDaddy will come up with a fix, I just know he will..........!
Got The Fix!
Ok, go to Options> Settings> Select Page> File Assiciation> and uncheck (Windows Media Video files (WM,WMV), you have the (wmv and wma codecs already installed in the windows directory). You will also have to uncheck (HTTP protocol), click OK and Orb will now act as the default video player, when viewing Orb media content...............!
One down, one to go
Alright! My problem with being unable to connect was pretty simple. All I had to do was restart Orb and soft reset my device. Now Orb streams like a champ.
However I'm wondering if there's a way to do .mkv files in orb with predefined Audio/Sub options. Right now I'm just muxing out what I don't want, but has anyone been able to tell either their player or their machine to only stream these streams from the container?
Ill be honest. i did get TCPMP to work as well. , but seeing all 3 players that work ( tcpmp, WMP and PocketPlayer) i'd have to say pocket player is the best one of the 3 when it comes to rendering the video with the least amount of video lag/skipping
PocketPlayer!

The PudgeDaddy, my main man, which PocketPlayer version are you talking about here, because Orb and the SlingBox go together like white on rice, like a hand and glove, with Orb, I got all my music and ALL my other media content direct from my home PC anywhere on the planet where I can get a Internet connection. (T-Mobile/Sprint, Get Married)! Those two are a must got to have on ALL my mobile devices, so holla back..............!

Version 3.6
Once Tmobile/AT&T get some new mobiles with faster processors etc with 3G speeds will Orb take the place of Slingbox? I would imagine it would at least bring down the price.
Hi everybody. I just want to know if I can actually watch Youtube videos on Excalibur or it's an urban legend?
I'm using Ricky's v24 no opera version and I tried to follow the definitive guide (well, not so definitive) to watch Youtube videos (found in this forum using the search), I also tried Htc Streaming Media (a .cab file someone posted here) and none of them worked.
I use Wi-fi to navigate most of the time, since I don't have a data plan. My router has no blocking stuff (I disabled all for testing purposes) and I'm using Internet Explorer to browse m.youtube.com, but so far I got nothing but a "failed to find network" from htc streaming media.
So.... I really don't know what to do.
If anyone does, please, share your knowledge with me. Thanks in advance.
Easiest way is to use Skyfire it's free, also i use CorePlayer to stream of mobile YouTube.

Dude... skyfire is the one.... How come such a software is not a hit? It's almost perfect.... I'm curious about it. I'll try to search for it later, but so far... what a great browser! the best experience I ever had. I wanna say thank you all, for all suggestions posted here, but I'll keep with skyfire.
I use skyfire, and it plays the youtubr videos, but without sound.. any idea?
I use a Program called Vtap. The Program is small and simple it searches youtube videos, myspace videos and more and streams without any problems. If you would like to give it a shot go to http://www.smartphonefreeware.org/download/vtap-0.143

If that floats your boat. Skyfire is a memory hog, it has over heating issues (battery and processor) it will be ad supported (as soon as it is out of beta testing) so look forward to clicking through an ad every page click... na, not worth it to me.
Vtap
I use Vtap by Veevo. It not only shows YouTube but tons of other video on the web. Plays great!

I have to agree with Bupahs... TCPMP is definitely the way to go (if you aren't using Skyfire w/ a high-speed connection). I have yet to experience a player with more crisp, clearer playback than TCPMP. I found that the trick is you have to access the Desktop version of YouTube instead of the mobile version. The mobile version won't allow you to use TCPMP, but the other version will. How can you tell the difference between the two, you may ask? The mobile version will use a black background, but the PC (Desktop) version looks identical to the one you're used to.
I installed HTC Streaming Media and I access my browser through the Java application that should be on your phone (it came with mine) and go to youtube and I'm able to watch videos perfectly fine.
