I'm not technically savvy so here goes. I just purchased a playstation 3 and want to connect it wirelessly using my touch xv6900 via tethering. I know how to get my phone to tether with my computer. Just wondering if there's anyway to do it with ps3. I'm using NSFAN's 6.5 v6. Thanks.
mmmh, not sure if this would work, id try it but i only have an xbox,
1. tether with your phone and pc
2. connect your playstation to your pc using a cross over rj45
3. manually bridge the connection
again i have no clue if this would work, but thats what i would try.

i have ubuntu running on my phone and i cant connect it to the office network.
is there a way to ssh into it through usb/adb, id like to do some X forwarding. or at least have a proper terminal to get my work done.
thanks
Hey did you ever find an answer to this?
I'm thinking wired tether (or wireless for that matter)

yes wireless tether works great for me. i even run a vnc client and connect to it over wireless tether.
I installed CM6.1 yesterday and attempted to give the hotspot feature a try. I am able to connect to the hotspot via a mobile phone's wifi but when I try connecting to the network via my laptop it won't connect. I can see the network on both devices but only the phone connects and actually lets me browse the web. The laptop I am using is running Windows 7. Has anyone else run into this?
Yes and I have no idea why.

Im looking into purchasing EasyTether Pro for the fact that I can tether to my 360. But I came up with an idea and that's where my question comes in. As a alternative, what if I get a cheap Android phone, no activation, download the app on it, would I be able to connect the phone to my WiFi at home then tether it to my 360 for internet?
I'm not a Mik.....but my EVO is!
Unless you already have an unactivated cell phone, why couldn't you just purchase a wifi adapter for $50? If you do have an unactivated phone, just install the free version to test as an access point. You don't necessarily have to test the 360 connection (only available with the paid EasyTether version) to see if it would theoretically work.
Eventually ill get the real adapter but I can get some cheap Android phones for like $15. I'm looking just for the time being.
I just never used any kind of usb tether before.

According to this link (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...2862-using-de-activated-droid-ipod-touch.html) deactivated phones should work, but not sure about a fresh phone. If it is a used phone, you should be able to still use as like an ipod touch.
Nice just another way I can screw over Microsoft and support android all at the same time

I have an activated evo and just tested as follows:
1. turned off mobile networks
2. turned on wifi
3. connected via usb to laptop
4. turned on usb tethering
5. let laptop do its thing (setup adapter)
6. tested internet and voila
I am posting this through that tether.
Naturally, I had used the wireless tether (not usb) to access the mobile net, but not go through my local wifi router. I wanted to verify that it worked. I did try to use the wireless tether (link to laptop) WITH the wifi connection (link to wifi router) and it did NOT work. Hope this helps...

So basically the idea won't work because you can't tether through the WiFi, only your mobile data?

Sorry for the confusion. I can connect to my wifi router when using the usb tether connected directly to my laptop. If I disconnect the usb tether and try to do wireless all around, it won't work. In your case, you can't do wireless between the 360 and phone otherwise you could just connect directly to your wifi router.
In your situation, use usb tether to connect the 360 to the phone and then use your wireless connection to connect to the wifi router. You don't even need easytether since the usb tether and wifi are both standard features. If you currently have an evo, you should be able to try it now. I'm not sure about the network drivers for the 360, but you can test it without any cost.
Ahhh ok I got it. I'll defiantly try it after work tonight and post results. I wast sure if the regulations usb tether option would work. I just said EasyTether because it says that you can do it.

The easytether is required only if your phone doesn't have the usb tether app. If you have an evo, usb tether is already available. I did further research and apparently the 360 cannot accommodate the usb drivers required for the network. The only option is to go through the RJ45 and use a laptop/desktop as a bridge. So without a 360 wifi adapter, you would have the following:
360 to laptop/desktop via RJ45 (might need a crossover cable, not a standard RJ45 cable)
laptop/desktop to phone via USB
phone to wifi router via wifi function
(http://phandroid.com/2010/06/28/how-to-tether-your-android-phone-to-connect-to-xbox-live/)
I was able to successfully run through this setup, but seems like a lot of hassle and the throughput/bandwidth is not great. Probably too slow for realtime gaming.
Wow then its really not worth it. I'll just stop being cheap and find a wireless adapter. I guess its the least I can do seeing their so nice to me about my 360 and hast banned me, ha. Thank for the help, I'm on the xda app right now but when I make to the pc ill be sure to hit the thanks button

Hi guys!
Just a thought, I have a PS3 and I have access to a local wifi, but due to the wifi having a MAC Filter the PS3 can not connect so I had a thought of USB Tether my Wildfire to PS3..
BUT
When I read online, I saw that I must use a computer & Cross over Ethernet cable to the PS3, and I don't have a the right cable..FYI My computer is also allowed on the local wifi.
SO
My question is this: Is there anyway to DIRECTLY USB tether my Wildfire to the PS3?
Why not white list the PS3?
I wonder if just using the USB Tethering option in Cyanogenmod 7 would work?
Does your Wildfire have access to the Wifi?
I wonder if you were to use a USB Wifi Adapter connected to your Computer/Laptop to create a 'Hotspot' from which your PS3 could connect? Alternatively you could I guess try this maybe...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172528 - (Reverse Tethering PC/Laptop Internet to Phone) and then whilst connected... setting up the portable hotspot feature on your phone?
I hope one of these works for you.
Hope I've not confused anyone too much lol

I do not have access to the router & I can't contact the guy who owns the wifi because he's working away for a while.

From what I understood, Portable Hotspot only uses 3G / hsdpa connection and I want to use WiFi connection as I do not have an unlimited data plan.
I have seen the Reverse Tether guide before and have used this for another Buzz I own.
what can i do to my galaxy tab 3 t210 to connect to this type of adhoc? my laptop doesnt support the access point (AP) mode hotspot is there something i can do to my tab to bypass and connect to my pc adhoc???

What are you trying to do? If you want to access your internet connection on your laptop through your tablet and it doesn't support adhoc, you will either need to reverse tether via USB or buy a wireless router, to route your internet connection wirelessly instead.
i cant

I take it when you say globe tatoo you mean you have a mobile internet connection on your laptop? Most likely usb?
Everyone here is from different countries so we can't always make sense of network or company names.
Anyway, the ability to create an ad hoc network depends on your network card, there is no way to enable it if the driver our chipset doesn't support it.
Two options,
Either reverse tether using a usb cable. You need a special app and root to do this and you will have to always be plugged in.
Second option, buy a new network adaptor that supports ad hoc. You can also use an Ethernet bridge/router if your laptop has Ethernet.

I need to enable adhoc in my Galaxy Tab 3 7" to connecto to my OG Droid. What I understand is that we need a wpa_supplicant compiled with adhoc enabled... No idea wher to find it!!!
