A2DP is sounding scratchy - HTC Excalibur

Hi
I'm a new user with an Excalibur which I bought second hand the other day and generally am fairly impressed with. I have had it unlocked and bought a 4Gb microSDHC Card and upgraded to 6.1 using Kavana's ROM remade by Ricky.
I do have one small problem though, the A2DP is sounding scratchy whenever I use it to play music. It's not like an interference scratchy, but the highs of the music sound clipped and very scratchy, especially noticable at the higher volumes which I am having to use because the volume also does not go especially high, but it's present but softer at the lower volume levels.
I'm using Coreplayer but have the same experience with WMP or in fact any audio application I use. The files are fairly good 320kbps encodes in MP3 and AAC which sound excellent on the computer and I have tried a variety of files as well as some Youtube streams, all with the same results.
The headset is a Sony Ericsson DS-200 which is the dongle type headset where you can plug in your own headphones. The headset and headphones combination again sounds excellent when paired with a Sony Bluetooth walkman and an old SE mobile phone with A2DP.
I'm guessing it might be drivers, or something? I have ordered a wired headphone adaptor but would really like to use A2DP if possible.
Finally, if this is fixable, is there any way to boost the volume? My headset does not have a volume control, but the Coreplayer etc. volume control adjusts the volume - it just doesn't go very high and I can imagine it wouldn't drown out, for instance, public transport noise.
Thanks in advance

Hi
Sorry, should have really done a search! I found this:
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Tweaks+and+Hacks?t=anon
and tweaked the registry settings and it's sounding considerably better now. Unfortunately it seems to have introduced a bug where the wireless stereo headset icon no longer appears, all that appears is the standard headset icon (the one with the microphone on it) but A2DP is working so I can live with that!

thanks for the link, Ive seen this tweak in other forums but this one the directions were way easier to follow.

Bluetooth volume

Hi all,
Just bought a Jabra BT3030 (dog tag style) bluetooth headset. It's pretty good, I like the external headphone plug in - means I can connect my old speakers to the device and play my music from my Orbit through my speakers. The supplied earphones are good and comfortable too.
However, the volume doesn't quite go loud enough for what I want. Does anyone know how I can increase the volume? Either via somehow increasing the output from the XDA orbit itself, or by some booster from the bluetooth to the headphones? My speaker/headphones are pretty powerful but even at full blast it doesn't quite play as loud as I'd like.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,
Tim

I cannot control the volume of Streaming Bluetooth Audio.... :(

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth receiver in my car.
Once i pair either one to my Touch Pro 2, i noticed that raising/lowering the volume on my HD2 does not affect the audio what so ever(unless i put it on mute).
The music sounds very loud and distorted, and i cant control the volume either way...Anyone else run into this issue? How can i solve it?
That's normal. You need to adjust the volume at the receiving end.
I have the exact same problem. Not sure why as when I pair up to my speakers, the phone tells me it cannot control the volume, yet it worked fine on my "Touch Pro" (the 1st one) and my Kaiser. Not looked for a solution, because its not much of an issue for me really.

But the problem is that, the audio being streamed from the HD2 is so loud and distorted, that i have to turn it down(but i cant).
So even if i turn it down on the receiving end, the distortion is still there.
With my old samsung omnia, i was able to turn the music up or down from the phone...I dont understand why this isnt possible with the Touch Pro 2.
The music coming from my phone is unlistenable. The distortion ruins the audio. Which really sucks, because i spent $300 on a car reciever with bluetooth!
There has to be a solution! Come on XDA!
Try turning it down on the phone first? Or get a player that uses it's own volume control instead of the system volume (I believe Mort Player and Nitrogen will do this).

Same problem here!!!
No volume control at all on TP2, and volume of music cant be changed through the system volume control either
I have a bluetooth connection to my motorcycle intercom system. I had the same problem, sort of.
I installed Conduits Pocket Player, and use the equalizer to bring down the level of the Bluetooth. That worked well enough for what I needed to do.
I read somewhere else on the forum here that this issue is attributed to the Widcomm Buetooth stack on our phones. Whenever I connect my headset to my phone or my laptop, I receive a warning that the volume must be adjusted on the output device, and cannot be adjusted on the phone/computer. It may be related to the poor support for AVRCP.

ok, so it seems that this wincomm bluetooth stack or whatever SUCKS. You're right....I guess the only work around i guess is a player that doesnt use the system volume, like coreplayer.
Coreplayer is great for movies, but for playing mp3's i would prefer Slide 2 Play.
Havent tried nitrogen yet though.
Does a mp3 player exist that is similar to slide 2 play, but doesnt use the system volume of the phone?
I too am not able to use many of the bluetooth audio accessories such as my jabra headphones, desktop speakers and my indash audio system. None of which work as they did with my Kaiser. This was supposed to be an upgrade to my Tilt and it doesnt even support the OLD protocals that were common 2 years ago?? Im seriously considering switching to blackberry. Anyone intrested in a nearly new Tilt 2. Goodbye htc (high tech crap)
THis is a problem with the bluetooth stack, just email HTC so they can get a patch for this. or microsoft because they are the ones that control what stack it gets.
this Goes for the HD2 and others too

Weird sound with Bose headset

Stock ROM - trying to play some music through wired headset. Using an ordinary pair of headphones (Sennheiser), the sound is great, ordinary sound.
I plugged in my Bose on-ear headset (i.e. phones plus inlike mike) and the sound is weird - sounds like it is being played through a cavern, the treble has disappeared, some bass elements of the sound are emphasised and there is a strange reverberation, as I say, like it is being played in a cavern or echoing around a vast cathedral.
If I change the headset, everything is fine again.
Is there some way I can make the Jasjar work with the Bose headset, or is there something unique to the Jasjar's line out socket?
(The Bose headset works fine with every gadget I have).

Weird sound with Bose headset // Different port assignment
Hi rjstep3,
don't know if you still need an answer to this topic... As far as I know, headsets and Jasjar/Universal is a bit tricky... The assignment of each port for headphone (2 ports for left and right) and microphone (additional port) is different from the assignment of Bose's headset.
The only adapter for HTC Universal that seems to use the correct assignment I have found here:
www .ppctechs.com/HTC-Universal_439/accessories/3.5mm-to-2.5mm-Mic-3.5mm-Audio-Headphone-Adapter_374-356 .htm
I have not tried it out but at least from the comment on the site it seems to be a work-around.
Greetings,
Christian
you're right - I no longer need a reply to this message, as the Jasjar is now finally consigned to the delete bin of my gadget life.
thanks for coming back anyway - and interesting reply. Why can't companies use the same pinouts and ports and make it all standard and easy to use?
thanks

Bluetooth headphone solutions

I'm using an HTC Touch Pro 2. It lacks a 3.5mm headphone adapter, so I thought, I'd get a bluetooth headset with A2DP support to get around it. I've bought a Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and been using it the last few days, however, I've noticed a few problems:
1) Ringtones don't go directly to the headset. I've fixed this halfway with a mortscript to adjust the handsfree options in the registry. Now my ringtone goes to the headset, but the ringtone that plays in the headset that the headset comes with plays along with my ringtone. Not cool.
2) Half the time when I'm walking around listening to music or in my car on a call, I get my sound dropping in and out or the people I'm on the phone with complain about me breaking up a lot or being static-y. Are there certain things around me that attribute to this? The first thing I had thought was my phone's radio playing into the bluetooth communication with the headset, but I'm just guessing.
I've considered getting a new headset instead, but before I take that plunge, I thought I'd try to gather some input on other perspectives. If I do go for a new set, what are some suggestions for one in the $70-80 price range to start with?

Sound through headphones is really wierd...

After a while the sound through my headphones sounded wierd the voices were super low and the bass almost completely gone.. if I play it through power amp with the volume control on right or left meaning only play out of those sides it sounds perfectly normal... but if I place the balance in the middle it back to the wierd sound... any idea what could cause this and how to fix it.
How about your BT ? How does it sound ? I recently paired my E4GT to my Ford (using SYNC) and I noticed the volume was really low, compared to my old Blackberry 8350 (which worked perfectly). Also the quality of the voice seemed much lower when compared to the Blackberry... it doesn't make sense.
The weird part is that media files are playing exactly as before, so the music sounds very good while call quality is ... well it $#!^...

Not sure But an important factor is I did pair my cellphone up with my Car's inbuilt ipod adapter I used a Female ipod to Auxilary adapter to connect my phone to the cars audio system would that have caused it? I tried factory reset everything still sounds the same... I don't know why... would there be any app or program to test the audio quality? like a virtual headphone test or something?
Edit: I played a Dolby headphone test on my phone using the earphones and everything seems okay except for when it does the LFE Hz test at about 80-75 Hz I can't hear anything, but on my computer I can hear all of them here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUrk2W_r5fc
