Hi guys,
there is an application like G-Park for IPhone?
This application help you to remember where you have parking your car.
Do you know something like this for WM?
Thank you,
Andrea

Just load Google Maps when you park your car, save the location. Then when you want to find it, fire up Google Maps and get directions. Thats all the iPhone app does more or less. Pointless app.

Very True, but it is exactly the same as G-Park.
I guess you could use TomTom which again would do the same, any GPS program that you have you can add a favourite then get directions to it.
if i remember right did tomtom not have last gps fix, i know i used it a few time when parking car in a big rally car park.

I use TT all the while in large car park / new town situations.
When you park 'add to favourite' and call it 'car parked'.
When you use it again in another instance you can simply overwrite the old fave with the same name / new location.

Looks like Google released a new version of GMM. No longer do I get those pesky wininetread errors.
The new version is 1.2.0.2
I'm running Shadow as well.
Here's the link I used from pocket ie: http://www.google.com/gmm
The file is called: googlemaps_compressed
PM
Do you have a linky at all?
Matt
Link to new Google Maps
http://www.google.com/gmm/GoogleMaps.CAB
...or just go to google.com on your phone and you should get a link to if from there on the home page...
Smiffy.

Guy, that's lazy.
And then noobs complain when other members are blunt.
Google is google, and the biggest search engine in the world. Google Maps Mobile is one of their most famous --and only PPC apps-- how could you or anyone else not find the App? Type Google Maps Mobile on your phone or PC?
Sorry, to put this in the spotlight but this is an obvious example why members get upset at new users and don't worry it is not just about you. Currently there are been an ongoing issue about Noobs.
Plays nice in WM6
This new version seems to work better in WM6 ... I can now drag my screen to move the map without the annoying data/refresh errors I used to get in the last version.
Good catch.
The initial version of the program was pretty unuseable due to the error messages.
Hope this version is better!

Street view is so rediculously stupid. In fact I was talking to a director at Google a couple of weeks ago and told him to stop focusing on that poc street view and fix gmm. GMM, after their search engine and maps is probably the most useful thing they have going.
I then proceeded to show him how gmm was incapable of finding the party we were trying to go to because of all the errors. We eventually got there. This new gmm came so quick after that incident... hmm I wonder...
Seriously though, street view??? Can you think of a singe legitimate use for it beyond the cool hey there's where I used to live in manhattan?

But no new features
Yes, the new GMM is nice, in that the wininet error is gone. I haven't played with it too much yet, but the one thing I DID notice is that there is still no hybrid view, with streets superimposed over a sat view.
Again, haven't played with it too much yet, but I haven't seen anything new, outside of the error fix. Has anyone noticed any new functionality?
-pvs
[EDIT] Well, I clicked around with it a bit, and while I AM happy they fixed the glitch, I'm saddened that they couldn't add a few new features, for instance:
1) Hybrid view, as mentioned above
2) The ability to move it's cache to a storage card
3) The ability to preserve my historical locations, searches and directions between upgrades
But again, I'm happy they fixed the wininet glitch. And I guess ... what do I want for free, right?

Ok, heres just one easy one to explain..say youre disabled, and you arent able to get around much for certain reasons etc..would give you a chance to kinda go exploring, and see things, which you otherwise wouldnt be able to....Im sure I can come up with a few more, thats just the easiest/quickest to explain.
btw, Sorry to wander offtopic.

I'm just excited to try the new GMM.
How about a legitimate use for an average person. Everyone needs GMM, very few need street views. Street view is the kind of thing that seems cool and you can talk about at cocktail parties, but you will never use. I use mapping software nearly everyday. And if they get traffic working, could increase productivity in this country by millions if not billions of dollars.

yes. i love it. i live in nyc. now when i go somewhere that is unfamiliar i check it out on street view first so i know exactly what im looking for when i get there. i love it.
I will agree that the street view is not that important. It's more like a 'wow, this is cool' kind of feature.
All in all, this new release appears to be very stable. No annoying errors.
I think this is the future of GPS programs. It is much easier to distribute new maps when available, and add new features.
I envision a program similar to this which simply caches the maps you use most often on the device, and updates them via your data plan whenever an update is needed. If you go to a new city or state, the device starts caching the new area.
GPS works better. yey! You can now configure the GPS, so there's actually a chance of it working
new option in GMM
DTX is corrrect, there is now an option to specify which serial port your GPS is on unlike the previous version. I didnt find this useful because I always set my GPS up under Start-Settings-GPS but you do have an option now to over ride this setting.
I drove around all day yesterday trying out the new GMM to see if the WINNET error would reveal its ugly head and it didnt. I was even out in BFE yesterday and when I would loose cell coverage and then come back in the GMM went to work to catch me back up.
My only wish list thing would be to orient the map depending on which direction you are heading. This was a feature in Pocket Streets that I found very handy instead of playing a guessing game as to which direction to turn...
Enjoy!

It's only because I'm on furlough from work for a few weeks. Hopefully, I won't be bugging anyone in a while. Thanks, though.
And about the radio links, these are just what I had on my phone. I'd been avoiding this thread for a while because I didn't want to copy them all and re-type them out. Didn't seem like there were going to be that many responses, so I finally broke down and did it.
I'm a pretty helpless human but I still like my sig telling people to go play in traffic. I appreciate the informative radio info. I sometimes need a daily laugh so sometimes it's entertaining to read a noob thread. I think if a mod is ever elected they should create a "Noob" of the day thread. You must award where credit is due lol.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

I don't know about anyone else in the UK but I could really do with an app that allows me to search for train times.
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk just about works in Opera but it's slow to render and fiddly to have to fill in the boxes as it doesn't scale very well onto the WVGA screen. What I reckon would be great would be an app that can do the searching for you, with nice big boxes making it easier to type your start and end points.
I've searched around and not found anything out there that seems to do the job. I came across a .jar programme here (http://www.getjar.com/products/903/LiveUKTrainTimes) but It's not very user friendly and only does live departures/arrivals rather than a search of the National Rail Enquiries database.
Anyone know of anything out there that would do something like this? Or does anyone want to take a stab at developing it? I've seen the thread for the Australian train times but haven't tried it out as yet.

If you find anything, I'd also be interested.
What I've done is downloaded the timetable in pdf format and use adobe viewer to view this on the phone. Obviously there is more trainlines in the UK than there are in Ireland so this maybe wouldn't work for you. (Only 4 lines in Northern Ireland)
I would definitely use that! I love the national rail site because it lets you set favourite journeys. An app like that would be indispensable to me.
Have you tried the show directions option in google maps?
This uses the application Transit on the "Public Transport" tab and seems to work well for me in Switzerland. But, I don't know about UK - give it a go.

Am I right in thinking this app lets you know how to get from a to b on underground systems? I'll have a look but I don't think it does the kind of thing I'm hoping for. I'd like to have an app that pulls data from the National Rail Enquiries website. Even better would be a push of any issues with 'Favourite' lines esepcially at rush-hour.
I'll have a look at that app; even a solid knowledge of the London Underground sometimes fails when meeting a friend at a pub in a random part of Town I seldom visit!

That is the dream my friend! I use a mixture of Southern, South Eastern and TFL. No so fussed about tube times; is there every such a thing as a timetable down there in reality? Certainly doesn't seem to be the case on the Northern Line coming out of London Bridge in the morning!
Use National Rail's WAP site which looks nice and big in WVGA -

or you can text the station you're going from and too and it will tell you the next 3 train times - all the info is here:

Does the GPS rely entirely (or majorily) on cell tower connection?
Can it function when you don't have cell tower service?
Wow...umm...use wiki and google please, save yourself a bit of embarrassment.
GPS is a separate chip, ie: apps like CoPilot store maps on SD card and use just the GPS instead of gps+data like Google Maps.
Don't really care about being embarrassed, so um wow nice thanks for the response?

Not sure if this means you found the answer you were looking for or not but the final answer is yes it will work with out phone service but it depends on the GPS app you use.

You should ask on whirlpool - Pafc66
I reside in hong kong and the widget app seems to be working fine on most part. I say this because when its raining in HK, the phone says "Rain/Snow" and the animation shows a bunch of snow falling. This is kinda funny cuz its currently 30 degrees c and the phone is not smart enough to determine that it can't snow under such weather condition.

The problem you have now is you are really deep with the lie that it's becoming a tad pathological.
Let me set it out for you:
1. Your username here is 'Mickhaz12'. Your whirlpool email address starts with 'Mharro88'.
2. Your posts on Whirlpool are almost identical to the posts here about a very, very specific issue.
3. You live in Melbourne here and on Whirlpool.
4. Your posts on Whirlpool mirror your first one on here stating: 'So no1 has any idea i take it...'. You said the same thing on Whirlpool.
5.. You make mention on here of 'Whirlpool' knowing clearly what it is.
You really have two options:
a. Salvage some credibility and say: 'yeah fair enough - i went too far yesterday. Was just mucking around and it got out of hand'.
b. Continue the lie ...
I'd choose option a but i reckon you might go option b.
Lol. Wrong
Way too much time on your hands.
You must be one really sad loser or ugly fat woman considering your passion for technology and with all this time.
