WMDC 6.1 (Picture Tweak) Sync Ico files for Mobile Devices !!!!!! - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Picture tweak to change picture in WMDC 6.1 in Vista!!!
Rename all extracted ico file to sync.ico
Copy the icon file (extract it from the zip file) to the windows directory of your pda.
Step 2: Windows Mobile Device Center - Reinstall DriverNow that the ICON file is on the device, we need to reinstall the device driver so that WMDC will see it.
1. Make sure the device is synced and connected to your PC. You need an active connection so that Windows Vista sees your handheld device.
2. Go to the Control Panel.
3. Switch the Control Panel to the "Classic View" in the upper left hand corner of the Control Panel windows.
4. Open Device Manager.
5. Click the small "+" in front of "Portable Devices"
6. Right click on "Pocket PC" or "Windows Mobile Device" or "Smartphone" or similar.
7. Click Uninstall
8. Choose OK when prompted about Uninstalling the device.
9. The Device Manager will flash a time or two, and the device will no longer show up on the Portable Devices list.
10. Remove your Device from the computer.
11. Wait a good 30 seconds to 1 minute and then dock (connect) your device to the computer again.
12. Your computer will now be installing the device once again.
13. Open Windows Mobile Device Center, and you should now see your ICON on the left hand side (see picture below), and you have not lost any details of your partnership.
Sometimes the wmdc shows your old picture if that is the case copy the icon file to this directory:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\[some strange code like 8ae71abe]
@Everybody: I can also make ico file for your devices, so feel free to post you device info or a picture in jpg format.

Conversion is quite simple !!!
Search for png image of your device. (With No Background)
Save it to your pc.
Use ConvertIcon.com or other free online png to ico converter. Its absolutely free.

Sync Ico files for Palm Treo Pro
"@Everybody: I can also make ico file for your devices, so feel free to post you device info"
I have a Black Palm Treo Pro, could you mace a sync.ico file for me please. I have searched the internet and can't find one anywhere.
Strange thing is that there was once one there and not sure what I've done but it vanished after I did some hard resets etc in an attempt to correct some errors in syncing.
Thanks in advance.

[SOLVED] WinMo 6.5.X acting like 6.1 - cannot enter in menus

Help, I did something wrong and I sort of cant use the phone anymore.
I installed a topbar. Unluckly I didn't read the info about it, and that it was made for Win 6.1.
I cannot access the menu, thus I cant uninstall the topbar or hard-reset my phone. There's a key combinatiou that's "Camera + Send + Power Button" that resets it. Problem resides there; My cellphone have a touch sensistive Send button, and this instruction is for a similar phone which possess a hard Send button. I can still, however, make calls and answer, send SMS's and read emails and activate bluetooth or wifi, but I can't start any app (I cant open the menu) or use the Mobile Device Center to do anything through USB (I've set it to connect directly as USB Mode and not to ask), I'll look for a Bluetooth dongle today to try to connect it through bluetooth.
I'm desperate. This phone is brand new but I already have made esthetical and hardware changes, so I've voided the warranty. Also that's a China phone, even though this particular model is able to update the ROM, I don't have the original ROM or knowledge to backup the actual one.
Any help is accepted. If there's any trick to go into "Add/Remove programs" without accessing the menus or to use some software hack to hard reset it thru Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, I'll be glad to know. If that's for any usage, I have Total Commander installed on this phone and I know how to edit the registry, but I can't start it.
Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Brazil
Thanks in advance and I'm really counting on you guys.
I'll be awaiting for an answer.
P.S.: I've been thinking - I don't know - about installing SPB Shell with some Auto Installer by the Mobile Device Center (over bluetooth) and let it start automatically, and by there, uninstall the culprit. Fiddling around, I've learnt how to trick the Mobile Device Center to make it install any CAB automatically, as if I've ran an auto-installer. My question is: would SPB Shell start automatically?
P.P.S.: Everything is working if I find another way to start it. Just the "start menu" died.
P.P.P.S.: No, I can't buy another phone. It's expensive here.
You can try MyMobiler, a PPC controller running on PC.
OR Try to remove it in Mobile Device Center if you can connect to it.
I don't have Mobile Device Center, using ActiveSync in win Xp but I believe you can remove on your Pc the partnership with your phone so next connection will start a new partnership where you can change the settings which prevent you from connecting Usb normally. Once you are connected, copy the file attached to your device, then take blackppc's advice, install MyMobiler http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=499344 and navigate to the file, execute and it will open settings where you'll find remove function.
I hope it helps
That's the problem, I can't connect it through USB to Mobile Device Center because I've set it to autostart as "pendrive" and not ask me about if I want it to start like this or in Mobile Device Center compatibility..
I'll buy a Bluetooth dongle in 5 minutes by now and I'll tell ya what happened
--
I.. er.. bought the dongle, but I cannot configure it. It cannot find any of my devices or enter the dongle's configuration area. It works well enough, though, on the store computer. I've tested thru 2 Windows 7 Computers and it gave me the same error.. gosh
As I said, I don't have Mobile Device Center but there must be a way to delete partnership with your device... Try this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc722321(WS.10).aspx or google these keywords "delete partnership Mobile Device Center" and see how.
Alright, I've managed to get the bluetooth dongle working (a Bluetooth service was disabled). Now I need to connect the phone to the Mobile Device Center. Problem is that I had connected it to MDC, but I had hard-reseted then, and seems like MDC finds the phone as a "new device", thus cannot connect over bluetooth. Can I force it to connect or something? I'm thinking that may be my only shot.
P.S.: I can access a sort of device explorer (when I put the USB cable in and out, it pops up a message asking if I want to see the Memory Card images, and then it opens a image viewer. I can delete folders from there, if that's of any use)

"On the mobile device:
If you have never attached your device to the computer using a USB cable, do so. After Windows Mobile Device Center starts, disconnect the device.
In ActiveSync, click or tap Menu, then click or tap Connect via Bluetooth."
I cant reach it
I've got an GREAT idea: I can, still, acess the image viewer. From there, I can copy and move folders around. So, all that I have to do is to create a folder in my memory card called "Start", with one shortcut inside, leading to the "Add/Remove programs" or "Hard Reset" program and copy it to the Windows folder. Then I restart the phone and it'll fire up the selected app. JOB DONE.
I only need to know the name of the app/parameters for Add/Remove programs or Hard Reset. Basing on what Windows is, it might be some "xxxx.cpl -command".
I leave this job for you guys, now I feel that I can still save my phone!!
I'll try link it to Total Commander first, before anything
P.S.: I've found the following string to invoke the "Add/Remove programs" for Windows Mobile 6.1
"#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,23?\Windows\shell.dll,13"
Would it work for windows 6.5?
P.P.S.: Meh, I cant create fake shortcuts that leads to nowhere on the local computer. How can I do it?
What a relief, God truly knows. My method worked. I can invoke anything from the phone using a shortcut. I've used the following line for the shortcut:
"33#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,10"
It invoked the "Add/Remove programs"
Thanks for the help, I really felt you guys tried to help me
I never seen a case like mine, but who knows.
Here's what I did:
- Connected the USB Cable into the phone, and it started as a pendrive
- Created a folder inside the phone called "Start"
- Created a folder called DCIM and added some images in there
- Created a .lnk file using XXMKLINK (which makes links from anything I type)
- Copied the .lnk file to the "Start" folder
- Unplugged the USB. At this moment, a popup appeared on the screen "Do you want to view the images?" Press yes.
*If the above method doesn't work, you can try going into a SMS message, then click for "Insert a Picture". The same browser will open
- Go to the root of the SD Card, or anywhere the "Start" folder you've created is
- Press and hold it, select Copy
- Click on the left side button and select "Device"
- Go to Windows folder. It takes a while to open
- Copy your "Start" folder inside. Press Yes on any prompt
- Restart the phone.
Voilá! The app will be run on the next startup
I really hope to help someone with this trick, who knows more than it helped me.

Downloading LG Firmware the Simple Way!

I don't see why all this faffing about with proxy grabbers and URL guessing in necessary to get the correct firmware file for your LG phone, there is an easier way...
1. Go to the LG website and find your phone, download the USB drivers and mobile support tool.
2. Install the USB drivers, remove the battery from your phone and note the model number, serial number and IMEI number then replace the battery.
3. Turn on your phone and plug in your USB to the computer and phone and wait for the drivers to install.
4. Click your 'start menu' and select 'Computer', click the 'Tools' menu at the top left of the screen and select 'Folder Options' and then the 'View' tab, put the radio dot in the 'Show hidden files, folders or drives', also remove the check-mark from 'Hide extensions for known file types' and click 'Apply' then 'OK'.
5. Run the mobile support tool 'exe or setup' file, select the emergency firmware recovery thingy and enter your phones I.D from earlier
When the mobile support tool finds your firmware download, click to download it.
6. Immediatly navigate to 'C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone\' where you will find your firmware file in the process of downloading (mine was called 'V10A_00.kdz').
7. Keep an eye on the mobile support tool to see when the download is going to complete, before it does right click on the white background of the 'C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone\' folder and select 'Refresh' to update the firmware files downloaded file size - ideally do this several times during the download process to allow Windows to calculate the file size faster at the end and produce a useable '.KDZ' firmware file before the mobile support tool get's too far into the process of extracting it.
8. Once the mobile support tool changes from the downloading screen to the flashing part grab your firmware file and drag it to the desktop or any other location to copy it, you only have a small amount of time to do this before the mobile support tool extracts the files and deletes the '.KDZ' file so don't worry about scratching your arse just yet!
Just a note, I also copied the extracted '.CAB' file and 'DIAGCommand.xml' files for no real reason!
9. Once Windows has copied it and the 'File Copy' box closes YANK THE USB LEAD OUT OF YOUR PHONE!
If for any reason your computer takes longer than 10 seconds after the download finishes to copy the file then pull your USB lead if you don't want the phone updated and go buy yourself a decent computer!
If you wait any longer than 10 seconds after the download completes you may well brick your phone which I'd like to add I accept NO responsibility for, not even if you follow my method to the letter and still end up bricking your phone I promise you I won't lose a moments sleep over it!
What I can tell you is that the 10 seconds time frame I give is an over safe time frame. In reality your phone will not start to flash any data until it reboots so I suggest having the volume turned up to listen for the USB disconnect / reconnect sound. At the very latest remove the USB cable after the disconnect sound but if you hear the reconnect and the cable is still attached you have 2 choices, 1: Do nothing and have an updated mobile phone or 2: Pull out the USB cable and have no phone. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Hope this helps you. Please 'Thank Me' if it does.

P.S. You may now want to go back to your Computer/ Tools/ View folder and set them back to default.
thanx

First off im sorry for quoting op. Im try said method to get a kdz thats not released. As soon as im using old mobile support tool btw. But as soon as dl hits 100 tool attempts to extract it and imeaditly deletes its no 10 seconds. Literally like 1/2 second the goes to error. Long story short. I got a old lg vista frp locked and no available method to bypass i was gonna attempt to update it to a newer firmware to see if ne of the methods work there. The phone was released with kk and not really a antirollback protection. But theres a speci proced to downgrade and i figured if i could get back kk no frp
the method seems to work, so thank you for this solution, i tried a few times until I made it happen, the thing with this is that you can only get recent updates, and in my case I'm looking for an older version of the firmware. hope your post will be usefull to other. thank you.

[GUIDE] Run Free Hyper-V Server in Desktop Mode

Hi All,
This is my first guide on XDA and this might not be the right topic but it's related. (This is for Advanced users)
I want to start this thread to show how you can use Microsoft's Free Hyper-V Server for more than just "Hyper-V".
I have done tests with Hardware and VMWare Player (V5) with both Hyper-V 2008 R2 & Hyper-V 2012.
System Requirements;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyper-V#System_requirements_and_specifications
And more specifically;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyper-V#Microsoft_Hyper-V_Server
Download a Free copy of Hyper V Server; (It’s free, so no Install key required!)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/hyper-v-server/default.aspx (You might need to register)
I have successfully used VMWare Player 5, Version 4 works for Hyper-V 2008 R2 but not 2012.
If you are trying this on hardware directly, you’ll also need to download your system’s drivers (at a minimum the Network Card) and a web browser
. i.e. Chrome downloader from: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/ (Tested to work correctly in Hyper-V Environment) Save these to a USB stick.
Anything else can be downloaded once Hyper-V Server is up and running.
Follow the Hyper-V installation as usual (all defaults)
As a guide; Select Custom Installation, you'll need more than 10GB hard drive size after we add extras, so pick 20GB as a minimum. wait for the re-boot
At this point you'll be asked to set a password and you'll get a command prompt for a user interface.
That's right, Desktop, control panel, Start menu, Metro, Task Bar, System Tray, Internet Explorer are all User interface elements that are removed from this copy of windows.
This is where this [GUIDE] starts to provide non-standard information;
Let's start by Installing your Drivers. (I'm assuming you know how to use the command prompt to change drive letter of your USB drive and launch the driver installer program.)
OR in VMWare case, on the menu select Install VMWare tools. This will not launch automatically, hence you'll need to use the command prompt to change to your CD/DVD Drive and launch the "Setup.exe" for VMware tools.
Now start the installation for Chrome, similar to above.
Now Chrome is running, Close the prompt to select default browser (it's your only browser...)
Sometimes I have found Chrome to crash with a dinput8.dll error (no all websites), Chrome works with this prompt up, but it's nicer to avoid it prompting.
http://www.driverskit.com/dll/dinput8.dll/585.html * We'll get back to this later...
You'll need to be uncompressed the above file, so lets download 7Zip also
http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Now we need a file manager, since there is no Windows Explorer (or now called explorer) Explorer2 (x2) fits the bill nicely.
http://www.zabkat.com/x2lite.htm * Free Light Version (There are issues with not displaying some files, That because it’s a 32bit application that is not 100% compatible with a 64bit environment), The Pro Version is US$29.95 and is available in 64bit. When you install this, select the option to replace Explorer (note: there is no explorer, so this option allows explorer2 to handle some calls to explorer)
Now download a Start menu, Taskbar “desktop” replacement http://www.emergedesktop.org/* Free and customizable.
- Lets customize the Emerge desktop,
- If not started run “C:\Program Files\Emerge Desktop\emergeCore.exe”
- Lets start by removing menu Items that are broken due to not having a full copy of windows.
-- Settings, Configure Core, Click on emergeLauncher.exe, the press the Cog.
--- Delete “Homepage”
--- Delete “Executable %AppletDIR%\documentation\...”
--- Delete “ Tutorial”
--- Add Type “Live Folder”, Folder “C:\Users\Public\Desktop” (Click Save)
-- Settings, Configure Core, Click on emergeTasks.exe, the press the Cog.
--- Change Icon Size to 16x16 (Click OK)
- Start menu (or right click any where on the desktop) select Desktop Display, right click, Delete.
Now any new program that puts a shortcut in this folder “C:\Users\Public\Desktop” will appear on the launch Task Bar.
For some "Control Panel" replacement options download a GUI for managing some windows features (These projects help to speed up initial configuration;
http://corefig.codeplex.com/ Corefig for Windows Server 2012 Core and Hyper-V Server 2012
https://coreconfig.codeplex.com/ for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Core edition
This together with Sconfig can do quite a bit of windows configurations without resorting to the command line.
Ok the dinput8.dll.zip you downloaded earlier, you can un-compress this and put the dll (not the zip) in to the C:\windows\system32 folder.
If you want to make re-starting faster and don't plan on using Hyper-V, lets remove it. (coreconfig I think has this option but the following will always work) In a command prompt window type the following;
start /w ocsetup microsoft-hyper-v /uninstall
(Windows will need to restart a couple of times to do this)
(Optional) Enable a network share (You can use this like a Network file Server now, I don't know if there is a limitation to the number of connections like in desktop versions of windows)
net share /Grant:Administrator,FULL system=c:\
Remote Desktop Concurrent Users limit: 2 (one console, one remote OR two remote) (1 UP on a windows workstation copy)
Enable with from the Sconfig utility..
If you want to run SQL Server (Tested with 2008 R2) you'll need DotNet3.5
In a command prompt window type the following;
DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All
I did this as a test a while ago and I think that is all I needed to do and it worked. (I have gotten it to work, so it would be interesting on how much it can be pushed on this platform)
Need Java? Download Java http://java.com/en/download/
Need to use Office Documents?; http://www.libreoffice.org/download
Need FTP Server?; https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=server
Need Web Server?; http://mirror.mel.bkb.net.au/pub/apache//httpd/binaries/win32/
Need QEMU support? http://qemu.weilnetz.de/w64/
I used the built in Windows Updates (option 6 on the Sconfig utility) but I also prefer to use: WSUS Offline http://wsusoffline.net/
WSUS will also quickly get you copies of Silver light & C++ run times (or you can find the URL's manually), I find it's best to use both, WSUS Offline for quick offline copies and windows updates for the latest Microsoft has to offer... (I did not say latest & greatest...)
Work in Progress (probably not going to happen without 3rd party work).
Need Sound? (Don’t know of a solution yet…) I saw someone working on this with Server 2012 Core but I did not find the solution or if it would work with hyper-V copy.
Need Direct X? (Don’t know of a solution yet…) I've tried downloading -redist copies, etc but Direct X has been integrated into windows for years and this is the copy it's removed from.
I'd also want to get VMWare Player working or similar for the USB Pass through feature and 3D client support but I'd probably have to use an alternative. (I heard of a USB Driver for windows to share over Ethernet to another copy of windows)
Okay, this is all I have got for now, your thoughts?
