I have a MDA Compact IV (equivelant to touch diamond). I have used a number of diamond roms and love some of the features in the 6.5 roms (i.e. new lock interface).
However i have problems using all the t-mobile features via web n walk such as mobiletv, youtube, windows live etc.
Is it possible to have wm6.5 with the t-mobile customisation?
Thanks
I don't think so.
Custom ROMs are made to get rid of provider stuff and such crap.. the only way you might get your stuff is, imho, that you dump a ROM from your provider and grab all .cab files you need to get everything working.
have to admit the same day I got my MDA with in the first hour I was trying to get rid of all the T-Mobile branding and the software and the ugly pink colors that T-Mobile had and am glad I dont have the branding stuff on there as still a T-Mobile customer. With the WM 6.5 I have notice the battery holds alot longer and the Extra cap.bat original HTC bat with cover holds almost a whole week.Like they said you will have to extract the cab file from the t-mobilr rom and install them ,if they work on the 6.5 ,I am not so sure.

Ive seen a lot of new roms, some based on official and some built up themselves.
First, whats the latest on an official WM6 ROM from T-Mob UK?
Second, whats the best rom for a UK Compact III? How does it handle the lack of Wifi. Im mainly intrested to hear from those Compact III users who have switched and if they have noticed any problems or missing features.
Third and finally, is there a download for the original rom? Or can I flash it to the T-mob WM6 rom (if one comes out) if ive flashed to a 3rd party rom?
I had problems with some WM5 roms on my prophet in that the sound was too low or it contained crap. Sometimes things didnt work like when you clicked on a text entry box the keyboard didnt appear.
Thanks

WM6 works really good on my MDA from t mobile.
I'm actually using Bepe WWE rom flashed with USPL, I have already flashed two devices without any problems (exept problems with doing it on vista but it was also solved).
Generally wm6 works faster and is more stable then wm5 but nothing is perfect, i've notticed that some programs have problems to run properly.
Spb Gprs monitor doesn't work at all and spb backup has problems with reading files from windows directory.
wm6 is far better then wm5 and i can recomend it to anyone even if you must used to some issues.
there is no official wm6 rom from t-mobile uk and probably there will not be one, but if i am wrong you can obviously flash your device with it.
mda mms settings
Hi there, need help with my mda vario. I unlocked it for cingular and works fine but then i upgraded the rom to 2.26 and can not get my mms work. The MMS settings is totally blocked out. Someone please help!!
I've had search on the forums, but have questions i can find the answer to.
I'm a PC tweaker and overclocker. I fancy doing the same with my phone. more out of curiosity then any real need.
MDA Compact 3 (tmobile)
Most used app is tomtom.
I've found the how to bit, and understand the the getting "CID unlocked" then doing the rom flash.
My main questions are.
Once flashed, is there much needed to be done to get it back on the network? ( buggered about on a mobi a while ago and getting it back on the network took ages)
What are the main benefits of upgrading?
I've seen the touchflo demo on youtube and know you can get roms for my phone. what is the best one for my phone/network?
And what the most stable one?
what would be a good rom for some one who install/uninstall lots of app and generally like to poke around, but really only uses it as a phone and gps?
Cheers for any pointers/help
Hi Megabite,
What do you mean with network?
The Network of your telco of your home network?
The best rom for MDA Compact is B&B 4.0 with touch flo.
GPS is working fine
But 4.1 is coming with the latest OS.
And the camera is also fixed. So just wait until released.
The rom is in beta testing
Thanks for the reply.
I meant network as in my telco, as in t-mobile UK.
So just to clarify, touchflow is the user interface that "sits" on windows mobile version 6 (or wm v5) or is it a seperate user interface?
and any date for the realse of 4.1
No, no network problems, you'll just have to run the network wizard to auto configure the gprs internet stuff.
The touchflo cube is just a pretty app that sits on top of the OS - it's ok, but I find the fact that the touchflo driver allows you to scroll up/down in lists and docs a lot more useful.
As far as 4.1 coming out, it comes out when Tom and his testers think its ready - no ETA yet from what I've seen
The Touchflo cube is an interface for accessing some commonly used programs, contacts etc, Touchflo also allows you to scroll using finger movements in other apps, eg internet explorer.
If you do upgrade to a WM6 rom the benefits are a more stable OS & HTML email amongst other things. Tmobile have stated that they will not be releasing a WM6 ROM for the MDA C3 so if you do want to upgrade you will have to use another carriers rom or a cooked rom. There are 2 official roms available, O2 UK and Dopod SEA, both are WWE (English). I use Tom's B&B v4.0 rom as it looks and feels the best and doesn't have any operator rubbish in it. In order to upgrade your rom to WM6 you will first need to CID (Carrier ID) unlock it as you have already discovered.
It is very easy to put the tmobile uk settings back in, there are plenty of cab files in this forum or the settings can be found on the web. If you really can't find them I have a cab file somewhere I can send you.
Regarding a release date for Toms B&B v4.1, Tom produces these roms as a hobby not a job, therefore you won't get a release date, just the rom when it is ready!
Also have T-mobile dash (friends) will 6.1 WM rom work?
Will the tmobile animations still be there after the dash rom install or will it look identical to the HTC?
thanks.
it'll look completely like an HTC...no start-up sounds...no MyFaves program (though if you have myfaves it'll still be active you just have to edit it from the T-mobile website or you can find a cab install of the myfaves program on this forum somewhere...and no OZ IM...u can download that as well.
Ok..as mentioned in the post above, You need to remember one thing about "cooked ROMS".
They DO NOT support any or one Cell phone provider.
That said, EVERYTHING that is linked to a provider, in your case T-Mobile, will be DELETED for good.
there will be nothing tmobile about that phone except the sticker on it and the service..you wont have any of their apps, you wont see the myfavs crap (you can add something similar to it)....but it will be a whole lot better without all that bloatware =)
Thanks for the confirmation. I'm going to flash this later on today and just wanted to check if it was compatible, and it is. Appreciate the info!
ok here it is i have the tmobile dash with windows 6.0 , ive been doing some waiting and hopeing for a rom upgrade, i know that i can find a cooked 6.1 rom here but with no tzones or my faves or windows support, ive been told that becouse of the cooked rom is the reson tmobile wont ever put out a 6.1 for the dash, so then it seems il be stuck with the 6.0,
my reason for not doing the cooked 6.1
1. no windows support
2. no my faves
3. no tzones
4. was told skyfire wont work on the cooked 6.1
5. mms wont work on the 6.1
so what are the good reason's why i should upgrade to a cooked rom,
[email protected]
Don't upgrade and save us all.
hhahahahahahahahaahahhahaa
that was the best reply ever!
anyways...
1- Windows support? As in using it with a windows pc? Or getting actual support for the software? Connecting it and using it in conjunction with a windows computer/network works fine.
2 - Myfavs still works, but the crappy interface was removed. To manage your myfavs, do it though your mytmobile.com account. You can download, from the forum, the crappy interface and install it if you so desire.
3 - no comment. tzones and the hack should die in a fire. (ok..no useful comment)
4 - Skyfire works just fine.
5 - mms works just fine
who the hell is giving you your information? you really need to read a bit more about this before even attempting to change your rom. there is a few things you need to learn and understand first. you dont just push a button and magic happens.
My OPINION: 6.0 sucks. its full of bloat. it has useless apps that take up too much system resources on a phone which doesnt have a lot to begin with. 6.1 (kavana/ricky) is faster and gives you a lot more control and USEFUL features than 6.0. I have run 6.1 since the first few kavana builds, and everything (service wise like mms/text/voice) has been flawless.
I agree with gixxum that 6.0 sucks huevos The first thing I did within the first two days of buying my dash was flash rick's 6.1 v24 , cause I hated how crammed the homescreen was , it doesn't even come close to the sliding panel homescreen. My response to this is:
my reason for not doing the cooked 6.1
1. no windows support ( you get all the support you need here at xda)
2. no my faves (gixxum said mytmobile.com)
3. no tzones ( Pay the extra 20bucks for unlimited data)
4. was told skyfire wont work on the cooked 6.1 (works ,also get opera, PIE sucks)
5. mms wont work on the 6.1( never had a problem with it, if you do jdoggraz can help)
Also the customization of the 6.1 is amazing , you can make it your own.
My reason for not doing the cooked 6.1
1. no windows support (Bill gates never answers the phone anymore)
2. no my faves (Answered)
3. no tzones (Hack Kill Die Thiefs)
4. was told skyfire wont work on the cooked 6.1 (Who told you that Microsoft )
5. mms wont work on the 6.1 (Never any issue and not sure how people do have issues???)
so what are the good reason's why i should upgrade to a cooked rom,
It's faster, more user friendly has a great user forum and oh my god Dinosaur WM6 Nuff said...
you guys are killing me lol, ya true 6.0 is old school, and yes i dont relly need the my fave interface can do with out it, and tzones opps i most have been drunk opps, but hey if you say skyfire works and mms works sweet, gixxun thanks budfor the info

I've been looking around for more info on this, but haven't found much.
So, will the free upgrade for Windows 6.5 on the TP2 include the new touchflo 2.5 that we've seen on some ROMS lately? I haven't had a chance to try any of them out since I'm on Telus CDMA version, so I'm still pretty excited if it will indeed update touchflo as well.
Anyone know?
they claim there will be an updated touchflo im not sure if its the leo version but there will be some type of update to it. either way i never use stock roms there usually a waste.
it's probably the same as the htc sense roms in the ROM section in the rhodium forum. So only the weather feature changed.
Yeah according to one of the vodafone touch diamond 2 roms just released over in Germany, the new update just has the updated version of touch flo 2.1 . I doubt 2.5 will ever be made for the touch pro 2, it's far to laggy (espeacially landscape for the music and picture tabs) and hence requires way more processing power than our super small 528mhz
well that's dissappointing. i really wanted those new internet, contact and twitter tabs. not that excited about 6.5 anymore

check out ppcgeeks for the custom CDMA roms...
XDA is great, but mostly GSM.
