Manilla with a touch of WM 6.5 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I have tried out quite a few roms on my device, and the new 6.5 beta roms are great... I especially like the start menu.
The only thing is, that I really love M2D! The new titanium plugin is ok, but nothing beats manilla!
So I decided to skin my 6.1 rom with M2D, to give it a 6.5 feel, and this is the result....
start menu:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

scrolling action:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The apps I used to achieve this effect are as follows...
-Start menu button hook, which allows you to remap the start menu text/or winlogo
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392
-Mort buttons, the most configurable app launcher out there!
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?mo...st&category=14
-The program I used for the transparent look on the taskbar and menubar is wisbar advance (BTW this is not true transparency, this can't be achieved, believe me I've tried!) You can download a trial here:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/
or do a google search for v.1.xx, which is still available for free on some sites.
If you want to have a transparent slider background in m2d, you have to change the HTCHomeSettings.xml and reinstall with the m2d customizer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486712
(again no true transparency!)
In the next posts I will explain how I used and skinned these programs to achieve this effect. I'm good at modifying, but I know sh*t about programming!

explanation...
The start menu
First install mortbuttons, and the start button hook...
You will need a registry editor to map mortbuttons to the start menu.. I use phm registry editor, you can find it here:http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Go to HKCU/Software/allelimo/StartButton
-if you want to map mortbuttons to the startmenu text set the HookText value to 1
-the Run value is automatically set to your program files folder, so if you installed mortbuttons on your device instead of your storage card, just change the value to:
MortButtons/MortButtons.exe (it will not run a seperate button from mortbuttons, only the .exe!). If you have it installed elsewhere specify the full path..
-soft reset your device and now the start menu is mapped!
If you like the honeycomb I made you can download it at the bottom..
Just unzip and put the honeycomb.mbz in the skins folder, which is in the MortButtons folder on your device, the 3 .gif files I included change the 'back-button' and the 'exit-button'. If want to do this, just overwrite the 3 .gif files in the Mortbuttons folder with them.
Go to the Mortbuttons Setup Menu, press display and under 'Skin:' select honeycomb, to use your own background, under 'Display style:' select User background and select the picture you want.
You will now have a honeycomb like setup when you press start!
To configure the icons, go back to the Mortbuttons Setup Menu and press 'Edit Menus'. Each button icon can be changed by pressing 'Menu Settings' and using the 'Icon' button (I use a dll file for the icons, it's also at the bottom of this post)
Make sure the button, that you want shown on your menu has the 'Show in Today plugin' box checked!
The button name can be changed in 'Window title' on the same page.

When you need to add Screen Rotation and Bluetooth icons on Today Tray, you need to download 2 cab files.
(All Files I've already tested on O2 XDA Atom, WM5 Himalaya AKU 3.5c CS and Blue Angel helmi Rom 1.4 .. It's working!! )
1. Screen Rotation icon

}
I've taken it from Himalaya's Extended ROM of WM5 Buzz Virgy ROM Build.
This file has some problem with Dopod 818 Pro WM5 Original ROM when you're using Camera.
If you want to configuration then Goto Start > Settings > System > Screen Orientation
Advanced > Icon Settings choose Drop down Menu to Counter-Clockwise press OK
How-to Install
1. Unzip, copy Cab File to storage card and Install from HIM_WM2k5_ScreenRotate_FIX.v1.1.cab File
2. Soft Reset
How-to Remove
To Uninstall from Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs
2. Bluetooth icon
Before - After
I've taken it from logout WM5 Himalaya's ROM and I made it in cab file.
For Bluetooth cab file doesn't work with HP6828.
When you press Bluetooth icons then go to Bluetooth Settings page,
How-to Install
1. Unzip, copy Cab File to storage card and Install from BluetoothTodayTray.cab File
2. Soft Reset
How-to Remove
To Uninstall from Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs

If you use a file explorer on your phone and navigate to \Windows\Start menu and whatever and go to the folders you want to change the icons in you will see a file called "icon.lnk" simply change where that lnk file points to and you will have a new icon.

Organizing "All Applications" section

I've installed a lot of programs on my SD card for my Rhodium Touch Pro 2 (RHOD400 so sadly still 6.1 until a HardSPL or the update from HTC for 6.5 comes out
Is there a way to, say, create a folder that would display in the Manilla All Programs section for Games, etc so I don't have to scroll through the whole list or tell a friend if what they are asking about is a game or not?
I went into /windows/start menu/programs and see it already has a folder called Games but Manilla isn't displaying it...
Any help is greatly appreciated!
If you are talking about the All Programs softkey through the Touch Flo/Manila interface, there is no way to put folders into it. Its supposed to simply list your applications in alpha order.
I'm unaware if there are any hacks/tweaks that can change it, but that's the way HTC built it. I suppose they weren't expecting anyone to have so many applications. Haha.
Organizing applications
Hi. You can organize applications in your Start Menu!!!
First download and install Total Commander from links below:
install with activesync:
http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.exe
install from phone: http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab
Now you have this application in your start menu
Start the application and go to the folder: \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Create the folders needed and move (or cut/paste) your shortcuts to the folders as you like...
@6sto - The original poster seems to be aware of how to edit the "\windows\start menu\programs\games\" directory. He appears to be asking about how to get this directory link to show up in the HTC Start Menu rather than the original Windows Mobile Start Menu.
@ijustwantthedownload - What you're asking for never occurred to me. But it's actually a pretty good idea. But as prjkthack suggested, there's no easy way to do it. But fortunately, I came up with something that just may be exactly what you're looking for.
(You'll need a registry editor for this)
1. Do what 6sto said. Basically, organize your Games links into the "\windows\start menu\programs\games\" directory.
2. Browse to "HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\" in your registry. The numbered folders here correspond to slots on your HTC Start Menu. 0 is the top right slot, 1 is the one the right of that, and so forth. Pick a folder that corresponds to an empty slot.
3. Edit the following keys:
DispName: Games
Path:\windows\start menu\programs\games\
Check out the results:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Note: I installed this 4 Columns mod. But it'll work without it as well.
Thanks Mate !! This helped me a lot. Now i dont have to scroll down for hours, till i reach the app i want !!

[APP] SkinZone.org Backup and Restore v2.0

A simple Backup & Restore program for the following:
*Opera 10 Logins
P.I.M. aka your Contacts, Calander
Call Log
your My Documents Folder
your Wisbar Advanced Desktop themes
Garmin XT
and....
You can add options you would like to see on the backup list by posting to this thread.
Works perfectly with Sashimi
*******
Whats new?
version 2.0 now adds the ability to add or remove items that you dont use.
Example, if you dont use Garmin, you have the ability to not include it in your list of backupables.
However, I only have options i use or once used. So if you would like options added, please tell me what they are and i will add the option right away.
My Inspiration was....
Well I created a program that was originally intended to backup my Wisbar Advanced Desktop theme to my Sashimi folder.
Since I do alot of tweaking on it, I always wanted to have the most recent changes, incase I had to do a hard reset.
Then I started thinking.
What about a "Restore" option.
this would allow an undo option.
Example) you deleted a page by mistake, or you totally messed something up.
just restore your theme and your back to where you were.
***Notes
1) This is ApptoDate compatible
If you do not have ApptoDate installed, it will install it on its own.
2) Your storage Card must be called "Storage Card"
3) This is Sashimi Compatible
However you do not need to use sashimi for this to work
4) You must have mortscript installed
You can find that here
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=view&entry=65
5) This DOES NOT overwrite your themes, this will first delete the theme completely, then copy your theme over.
This is done so that your not adding, and adding, features to a theme that do not belong.
Example, You deleted your page games.
but your last back up had the page games.
If We did not delete the entire theme, the page games would still be there plus your newest theme.
6) This does not copy over images, as people store their images in various locations.
9) The more themes in your THEME directory, the longer it will take.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
ANY suggestions are welcome
How to use,
Simply run the program.
Chose your selection.
it will add everything to your sashimi folder.
If you dont use sashimi, it will still back up to your storage card.
Now if you do a hard reset, sometimes your contacts wont show.
Simply run the program, Restore PIM and voila, your contacts and calander are restored.

[Q] Change the order of the apps in the menu

Any way to change the order of the Apps in the menu?
/ I mean it should better to view them by alphabetical order /
I think the order stored in a (text) file. If we could find it, we could able to make an application (for a PC, may java app for the phone) to re-order them, and that application could push back the new file...
Check with sTune for instance folder:
Registry\MainMenu_reg.ini
Here are 10 Pages... each are for 12 Apps... maximum 120 Apps on 10 sites.
Apps have MenuID
Where the ID exact stored, NO idea at the moment... So you have to understand which ID is your App.
As every Page is arranged by
MenuIDx you can find App per count...
First left App on top starts with 0, last right App bottom ends with 11...
Rumours about MainMenu_reg.ini... depend on Firmware Version it is writeprotected.
To sort by alphabet it is easier to do it on handset.
In my opinion.
Best Regards
Edit 1.
See here for some Screenshots:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916940
As example Route 66 the Navigation on ID 53. Now you could copy this 53 to every Position you want.
Edit 2.
sTune is an PC Tool with the Power to change MainMenu_reg.ini and copy back to handset. See last Tab.
First:
We should have explore to find the connection between the ID and the location where the app stored (in memeroy or an SD card)
Next: we have to pair the ID with the application'S info to read the name of the app from the XML
Then we should do the trick to change the IDs in the matrix of the menu
I found that Softkey_reg.ini use the same index number to know which 3 app used on softkeys as you see below:
#Version
Version=1
#Softkey
SKMenuID0=67
SKMenuType0=0
SKMenuID1=69
SKMenuType1=0
SKMenuID2=68
SKMenuType2=0
It should be changed to any ID of an app
On the right bottom corner of the first page of mine menu there is a Flash Torch app. As I found, the app id# is 190. I searched for it, and i found under (where applications installed) in a sys file called Appinfo.sys
Registry/MainMenu_reg.ini:
#Page0 (first page)
..
MenuID11=190
Mount/Mnt/Mmc/Others/[email protected]@[email protected]@__/XYZ/Info/Appinfo.sys:
<Application ID="190" AppId="3w1n2nuqxk" Name="Flash Torch">
The connection is:
(MainMenu_reg.ini).MenuID11 -- > (Appinfo.sys).Apllication ID --> Name
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now somebody should make a java widget, what should read the Name from every Appinfo.SYS, and put them into an array, sort them by the first letters, and put index orders, save the MainMenu_Reg.ini to SD card, then replace it with the fresh new ordered numbers
