Great news!
But honestly, what makes this app better than the Xperia Panel? :-s
I hope someone give us a comparison
I'm not overly impressed with any Facebook app/panel so far - they all miss out some features. For example, in this latest MS Facebook app you can't see multiple comments on people status. Also, sometimes I can't view photos. I click on the thumbnail, then pick view photo and it seems to attempt to load but never does. So either it's still buggy, or mine is just screwed...

true, there not perfect but i think its better than the panel and going to the mobile website.
i hope they keep improving it over time
I can't seem to use this app, it freezes everytime I tap "done" to login, and when I use wktask to terminate it, it freezes my whole phone so I have to press the reset button. Anyone else have any problems?
Running on R2 UK generic firmware. Tried the old version of facebook app but uninstalled it before installing this one.
hmm uninstalled again and reinstalled using a newly downloaded version from the ms site with a slightly different filename (v1.0.0.7p.cab) and it has now logged in but has been saying "requesting info" for a long time, connected over wifi too...

the new version has bug fixes for devices that had problems before ( i did not have any problems with the older version) but going to try it now.
just tried it, its running fine (and fast) on my x1 through gprs
New version fixed that 'View Photo' problem I was having too, good stuff.
Way better than the facebook panel, i uninstalled it
Hoping for this app as a panel soooooon

I'd be curious to know whether the thing that occurred with JPC on sim locked phones is still happening with this firmware - the product code changing and the phone asking for a network code. I really don't want to root my phone and go through the file copying again - I like it nice and stock-y.

If you pinch-zoom in the applications menu this is now smooth =)

First impressions best 2.2 out there at the moment. No lag, very responsive mind you not downloaded many apps at the moment. No market missing apps.
I find 2.2 is hardly as exciting as what people make it out to be.

JPH After 3 Hours Review:
Zero issues so far for me. I'm using the APK lagfix. Everything is nice and snappy (with and without the lagfix, although the lagfix seems to makes it better).
GPS seems to get an accurate lock very quickly indoors. (Started up maps, it found the nearest cellphone tower instantly with a 1km radius or something, then found my location perfectly after ~6 seconds. Going to street view once it had my location took my directly outside my house. Not the best GPS test ever, but it worked as well as any other GPS I've ever seen for that simple task.)
Compass seems to be as flaky as ever. This might be a hardware problem with my phone though, since the compass has always been flaky.
Blacks in videos seem as good as ever, and it played a few video files I gave it without issues.
Google market worked without issue, and wifi/hsdpa worked well. No issues with sdcards or anything like that either.
Internet browser is the best I've seen it, with flashing loading and playing smoothly without affecting speed on the rest of the page. Full page engadget with flash ads along the top and right side scrolled very smoothly after loading fully.
Games work the same that they've always worked (zero change, there aren't any games out that tax the GPU yet.)
I'll post a further review after using it for 24 hours or so.
Sorry to disturb your happyness and the overall enthusiasm
But.
Similar to JPC there is still an great Problem or Bug.
As JPC, JPH also dont sync tasks and appointments that are created with another app than the built in stock calendar
This is (for me, and for everyone who want to use the Galaxy seriously for Buisiness and Task planning) an absolutely bad behaviour.
I use Jorte and at first Quick Addroid for adding and editing Tasks. Because the Stock Calendar is to poor in Functionality and not very comfortable.
So if i add an Task with e.g. Quick Addroid, it appears in Device in all installed Calendar apps but is not synced with Google.
If i then edit and save it in Stock Calendar, then it will be synced.
Maybe, it belongs to changes in the code in Froyo, that ar not compatible with not samsung apps. Maybe the programmers have to fix it in their Software.
But also maybe that it is an Bug and Samsung have to fix this.

To be honest, I doubt this is a dealbreaker for 99% of people.
I think it would be classed as a 'minor annoyance'! As far as I know, syncing (google integration in general) has changed a bit in 2.2, so it's probably the app that has to be updated. I could be way off here though.
Scrolling trough the Touchwiz icons in the menu is very sluggish here. Eclair was way smoother. Is just me?

But this is my experience and my oppinion.
So far, so bad.
If this is (and i think so, as you) an problem of the apps, that ar not compatible with Froyo, then i hope they fix it asap.
For me is the proper sync of all Data and tasks absolutely mandatory. And so i have to downgrade (once again) to JM8
Very bad.
Much more because i really appreciate and like the new Functions in Froyo.

Is WiFi Router working for you? I just get on H icon in notification bar upload arrow highlighted, download arrow stays gray all the time and theres no connection on PC. On USB tethering i get few pings nicely and then connection is broken for few seconds. I have to try this with other FW, maybe it's my provider fault but maybe you have simmilar problem?
Well...then , not worth upgrading from JM8 , i guess
Uhhh, theres also problem with compass and calibration. Every phone restart they are changing to default which is bad and compass after reboot always shows that theres wrong magnetic field and it shows wrong directions.

To be fair, I'd say Swiping through screens has been there in Android for long, can't recall when exactly, but I think YouTube app was one of the first, the tiles do give out a hint of WP7, but again, I find the styling bit more close to Web version of the Market.
As for slow refresh, yes I do notice that too !! I'm sure will be fixed in future updates
the tiles on the front screen was the wp7 thing.
swiping left and right - didnt even cross my mind
Works on oxygen. But only then reallu fine, when pictures are loaded. But it looks nice.

Yeah, google should also put an option to disable the preview page, the one with bigger images, for each category..It works good on wi-fi, but can't work on low 3g or edge..After 10 minutes i browsing the market, it downloaded about 16 MB of data..too much
Really want to install this but the amount of data it consumes seems kinda crazy.
I've been using the new Android Market for about a day now and I'm really enjoying it.The new layout is nice and gives the market a more premium feel. Some new great high quality apps would make it almost perfect.

Same here. I don't see the updated version yet.
Does this app actually work now? When I used it, it would take upwards of 3 seconds to respond to any type of touch/command. And it registered all gesters as taps.
I'm not sure what you mean. There is sometimes a 2-3 second delay after selecting a station, while it buffers content, but the app itself clearly responded to my tap instantly (there was visual feedback of my selection).
BTW, I just went to the online marketplace, and the update shows up there, and I was able to install it. Background playback is now fully supported, and the volume bug appears to have been fixed. I get very good volume levels from the app now.
I'm a happy slacker now!
I had to uninstall the current version in order to get this one but it works great even over my slow as **** 3G connection.

That's what I love about the new web-based marketplace. I didn't have to uninstall the old one, even though my phone kept reporting it as current. The web version forced it to "reinstall", which got me the new version.

that's a shame as I usually like seeing that marketplace tile show when there's updates available. maybe slacker is mad at me because I *****ed at them in an email about updating the tmobile version before the normal version.

EDIT - 23rd FEB - Version 2.4 fixes the issues with 'Events'.
The LONG awaited update makes facebook kickass! I just got one on my Titan. Exploring it, but so many visible changes already. Update this post soon. If anyone noticed changes do update us!
EDIT1: You can get it manually by going to marketplace and then facebook, press update
It will forget your user ID and password, so re-log-in.
EDIT2: It's a complete revamp of the UI. Excellent speed... Now supports time line feature too!
EDIT3: supports groups and pages as well as very reliable checkin. Photo albums load as quick on 3G as on wifi in previous version, even faster! Still can't "poke" back from the app. Push notifications need testing though
I've already changed my rating and review and given it 5 stars. Hope most users do it too so that others get an idea of how good this official app has become!
5 stars for me too. Therefore long wait for this update. With carbon for Twitter, I appreciate my omnia for a long time.

Just installed the update a couple of minutes ago. Man, THIS is how it should have looked and worked like in the first place. Really sexy and overall pretty useful now.
Sorry to say but the banner is even bigger and its just as laggy and slow. Try scrolling the panorama, it freezes and slows down... Quite disappointing.
Also there are still no notifications when pinning the inbox to the start screen...
Yes it got a bit better. But not much, the messages still take ages to load (implement a database!).
Push notifications still come in very delayed (but this might be an FB issue and not their fault).
Lets hope they will fix this soon and not let us wait another half year.
But the good thing is the design is better and it has more features. There is hope for a next version
EDIT: Other parts dont seem to be that laggy. Its mainly the frontpage and probably due to the collapsing of the appbar, that slows down the panning of the panorama.
Hmm no update showing available yet on my UK titan...
Edit...
Installing now
Is it just my or did they really remove the shake-to-refresh feature?

For me Panorama/without Panorama, the scrolling and panorama was a breeze! Could it be the internet connection difference? I am not sure about the notifications on mine yet. Ironically not a single notification yet
Message loading is much improved that last version, it could defo be better though.
I guess everyone is on there right now trying to download it at the same time. I get a message that reads " We couldn't load engough data to start the application. Please try again later." LOL....

Well try panning the mainpage panorama from the news feed a full cycle back to the newsfeed. I mean horizontal panning, not the vertical scrolling itself (which is quite smooth). The horizontal panning freezes constantly and lags (Lumia 800). Which makes it a bit unpleasant to use...
I have just downloaded and for sure it kicks asses.
But this just makes me confuse. Is Microsoft trying to integrate everything in WP Apollo?
i mean, mango is first step when we have Facebook and Twitter deep linked in ( notification through Me Hub), but why MS keep updating the apps ?
i don't mean this is a bad move, but does it makes people care less about the social - life ability of next Windows Phone build?
Or they just wanna drop some stuffs to temp fix what Mango can't do about Facebook at the moment and then include it in Apollo?

I am using an HTC Titan and I just tried it on my wife's Focus. It doesn't do anything on her phone either. Wierd!
One major thing missing for me from WP7 is a decent GTalk client. I am using IM+ which is reliable in terms of notifications but very slow to start when you want to use it and if you switch to another app in mid-conversation, it takes ages to resume and reconnect.
I have tried Gtalk and JiTalk neither of which ever gave me a push notification.
Has anyone any advise?
Try OctroTalk. It works very well. There is free version with adds. I have unistalled IM+ after trying Octro, it's my primary chat client now

It is quite nice, but no better than IM+ in my view. It doesn't automatically log me in when I start it and seems no quicker at first glance. I am going to give it a go for a few days though, thanks.
One of the main reason why i am using it is because loads faster. Too bad for the auto login, hope they will add this feature

It auto logs in when you open it via a toast notification. Weird choices on user experience there. I reckon it might open and log me in very slightly faster than IM+. So I may have spoken too soon on that score.
It is still a poor experience overall though - and I mean the platform, not your excellent and kind recommendation.
It's good that we have a choice. Few months back there was no chat apps at all. There is still room for improvement but i think that we will not see any major improvement before Apollo
octrotalk has the best UI and also supports video chat
but
OT has lost a lot of offline messages for me.
My best is JiTalk.
