[Idea] Mapping Photo Capture to Stylus Out? - Touch HD Themes and Apps

This is an idea that hit me earlier today, I'm not sure if it's doable, but I think it could be interesting to try and get it done. As we all know, Blackstone is a tad light on buttons, so there is no special hardware trigger for taking photos. Here comes my idea.
The stylus shaft is exactly where the capture button would be. The phone can register the stylus being taken out. Is it possible to bind the camera application to use this trigger to take photos?

Sounds like a great idea!

if i'm not wrong(i'm using gyrator 2) you have to pull the stylus half the way out to register the "stylus out" action. So i don't think it's gonna be very handy when you try to take "still" photos

i have to agree. there's almost always gonna be a slight jerk as the stylus is moved out of the magnetised zone, leaving a blur.
perhaps one of the volume keys might be a better idea (if the device is rotated 180 degrees). Its function could be changed for just when the camera app is rununing.

Camera Timer

I don't have steady hands. I noticed that blurred pictures result from my hand moving while pushing the camera button.
In my Canon Camera, there is this feauture that delays for a second or two the actual clicking of the shutter so that actual picture taking will not be simultaneous with my finger pushing the camera button. This results to a better picture for people who dont have steady hands.
What you think guys.
hope this works on your unit. it's a direct application icon so simply copy and paste it on your unit...can be on the program's folder or start up menu, etc. it was made by a chap in this forum a while back; works well with xda2, xda2s, xda2i and the mini. should work for you as well. clicking on the icon will allow you to set a timer for your camera. there's also another app made by the same chap and it allows your unit to take rapid shots. let me know if you want that one as well.
cheers
Can you post the rapid shots file as well? I am interested in that, thanks!
here you go then. ahh, i remember it was "jwhitham" who made this app possible so kudos to him
what you do is you copy this file into whichever folder you want it to be in (e.g. programs, start menu, my documents, etc). you then go to your settings->personal->buttons and select "rapid shot" for button 3 (camera). i do remember making a copy of the app and pasting it in "my documents" to make sure the app can be remapped by the unit for buttons.
if you'll notice the icon is the SAME as the camera timer app so just be careul of which one you're pressing. clicking on the rapid app will allow you to make the settings you want.
exit; go back to your today screen and activate your cam. from there if you hold down on the camera button it'll start clicking away (up to a hundred pics if i remember)...just be careful you set the pics to jpeg format instead of bitmap...otherwise your unit's memory will be all used up!
cheers
oops, made a mistake previous post. clicking on the rapid shot icon will automatically make your cam take a pic; no other settings will come out. it'll be better if you simply paste the icon on your today screen. from there go to settings->personal->buttons and select "rapid shot" for button 3 (camera). exit and from there give it a shot.
cheers
wow these sure are great applications, by the way, would you know any camera enhancement program like this? thanks to the one who developed the applications
so far those are the only camera-related apps i've seen. i did read somewhere in the forum about camera patches or upgrades but they ended with screwing up the camera function. oh there was one somewhere about a webcam app...i previously asked if there was an app which allowed the camera to act as "real time". example; while in activesync you can use remote display to show the ppc screen on your laptop/pc montior. clicking on the camera function only gives you a black / empty field but when taking a picture that appears on the monitor. i was hoping there was an app which allows you to use the cam function sort of like a "security camera" which gives you real time. so far haven't been successful yet.
latest version?
hi robson... i did a search for jwhitham and found this URL: http://www.coderz.co.uk/cameratimer.html. it had a different UI. it had options for loop and delay before the next loop. happen to have that version? tnx!
sorry mate, the 2 files i posted on the web are the only versions i have. when those apps came out (not sure when...ages ago though) jwhithams mentioned that he did want to "clean up the apps" by combining the timer and the rapid shot into one icon into one exe file...but that never came up...not that i'm complaining mind you. so for later versions i'm afraid i never did come across them...maybe we can drop jwhitham a pm and see what happens.
cheers

Camera Timer ... here you go!
Hi after some seeeriuos searching, I found a mirrored copy of the more sofisticated version of the freeware cameratimer (i.e. the one with gui and timeouts)
Once again all tx should go to the developer.
I attach it to my msg.
Enjoy!

These are nice!.. I'll try them out tomorrow..
thanks man!

voice2go macro record - screen and buttons goes wild o_0

Hello again!!
I've instaled the voice2go software. and as I've learned about macro wanted to try it out.
But after pressing record macro I am going to the today and.. the screen goes wild :/ it is sth like that screen would change resolution - I can see normally, but if I want to press the button I need to tap sth like 1cm or more below and a little beside of it.. o_0 so I am unable to record macro correcty..
the only way to finish macro is to reboot the phone - it is useless when macro recording is on :/
did anyone of U had problem like that?
thx in advance for any help
Best regards,
mayyhem84
Same over here, very annoying as I really liked this feature of Voice2go the most. Otherwise the programm is working perfect, but on my x1 tapping accuracy is below zero in macro setting.
Did anyone find a solution for this? It would be awesome to control your entire phone (more or less) by making these Macro settings manually.
Cheers,
Arnold
I've just installed this on the HD2 and I must say it's really a nice app......BUT!
Using the macro's on this app sends to phone calibration crazy & also you are meant to be able to have caller id once a name has been assigned to a contact, but phone still rings normally with saying the persons name whois calling. But I'm still reluctant to delete this program because it does seem pretty good.

[Q] [Request] 10$ Picture Hub Picture Preview Blur Fix

Hey,
If you open up picture hub and zoom into a picture you'll see that after about 0,5 sec the pictures gets sharper.
Means MS uses a preview pic with less pixels and plus compression in the standard view to ensure a smooth run time. The main the problem is that the preview picture is such visible blury and compressed, it hurts my eyes everytime I launch picturehub. So I did some research and found some interesting registry entries.
10$ via paypal goes to the first one fixing it.
Regards.
I see what your saying but mine look just fine after zooming in about a second or less on my Focus. If yours is that bad where its hurting your eyes (I know its a figure of speech), I would think there is something wrong with your phone itself. Like I said, the pics on my phone look good even after zooming in.

I guess I didn't pronounced it correctly: If I zoom into pictures, they are fine and sharp. It's just that the fullscreen picture (without zoom) looks blurred. It's not that distracting (mostly you do not notice it) if you do not know the picture well, but due the fact that I am a Designer/Photographer the slight blur at my pictures at no zoom is parasitic.
You just have to prevent the phone from doing compressed cache images.
Regards.

mmhh, not really. I found some eventual responsible values, but I am not in the position to do further research. Just search for image or jpeg in a registry editor. There are too many keys to list them all.

Actually, all jpeg processing is done by native (arm) WP7 program called PhotoViewer. I don't think there is an option to change the jpeg loading mode. I'm afraid it's hardcoded in PhotoViewer.

I guess I have to at least try changing the keys.
I'll post if I find something.

[Q]App for class note-taking?

Is there an app that has thought of some way to take class notes on the note? It would have to be something like notability for the ipad which would automatically scroll to the right/down when you reach the margin. It would be amazing if this worked so well I wouldn't even need to bring a bookbag anymore.
If you mean with the s-pen you could try Papyrus. IT DOES NOT SCROLL AUTOMATNCALLY but is infinite in size. If you are going to type you could try Jota. It allows for big documents.
Btw if you zoom in to 250% with s-note the page will scroll when you hover the pen near the edge. Pages are however not infinite but you can add new ones easily.

Lecture Notes from the play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5hY2Fkb2lkLmxlY3R1cmVub3Rlc3RyaWFsIl0.
Just tried both lecture notes and papyrus, the problem is they don't scroll when you type. I couldn't even figure out how to scroll in any direction if i was zoomed in. I think for these to be practical they have to have the box that notability has that scrolls for you.

I think that Classic Notes app will do the trick. I have tested it out and it does scroll automatically.
In lecture notes you need to settings / display to turn on the auto scroll. I've just started playing with it. I haven't figured out how to add a page yet.

Thanks! I didn't even bother to check the settings. Theres options to turn on stylus use. The auto scroll didn't work for me. To add a page, when working on a page, hit menu and click notebook overview, then just hit +.
I've been playing around with lecturenotes and find its the best option once you get the settings right. I used it to take notes during a class today and it took practically no time to get used to it. Plus you can export to PDF.
I also played around with Freenote+, it uses the same idea as Notability for iPad where you have to write within a certain box and when you reach the end of the box it'll scroll automatically. While Notability does this well and Freenote+ its implemented poorly.
@Dmwitz: There are multiple ways to add a page in LectureNotes: You can append/insert pages using the menu items in the hand menu; you can enable the plus icon in the app's settings, clicking on it will append a page and bring you there; you can enable the page forward/backward icons or the arrow icon which are actually for scrolling but append new pages when needed. If you use the input zone (advisable for capacitive stylus), new pages are automatically added when needed, likewise when you use the auto-scroll feature.

I don't like that snote has a fixed size page. I want to be able to get a 8.5X11 size so I could print the notes out. I'm doing engineering too and have formulas that go long so I dont want to have keep spreading them over multiple lines.

[App] sMouse : Use your Note 10 S Pen as an air mouse

Hi,
I'm happy to present what I think is the first Air Mouse app for the Note 10: sMouse.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.kinesthetic.smouse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZI6yBJ3u1c
sMouse is a virtual cursor for your Note 10 that you can control with the S Pen.
sMouse uses the Gyro embedded in the S Pen to detect movement and move the cursor.
To navigate: Hold down the button on the S Pen while keeping the mouse still. This engages 'Warp mode', where you can re-position the cursor, or go back or home.
To scroll: Hold down the button on the S Pen and quickly flick the S Pen up or down to start Scrolling.
Permissions:
The app needs two permissions to operate, these are:
* Overlay permission: This allows the app to draw a virtual cursor over your screen
* Accessibility Service permission: The app needs to be granted the Accessibility Service's 'Gesture' permission so that it can perform clicks, navigate Back and to Home on your device.
Current limitations:
* The S Pen Gyro only works well when the S Pen is held horizontally. If you point the S Pen down (vertically), the gyro can not detect movement, and your cursor won't move.
* The virtual cursor can not move/draw into the system bar at the top of the phone. This is an Android OS security thing where Android will not let apps draw in this space.
This app is just a bit of fun that I made after playing with the S Pen SDK to see what the S Pen could do, and to my pleasant surprise it has a functioning gyro sensor that is readable from the SDK. I've made a good attempt to make this as usable as possible, however it is limited by the hardware in the S Pen.
Thats it. The app is free, no paid versions or advertisements. If you like it please leave a nice review, and maybe checkout my stuff
Hope you enjoy!
Very useful app that you have created. It is very useful. Brilliant work.
ironic that i spoke to someone weeks ago about having an app made like this, wish i was quicker, well done looking forward to test it.
This is great. Seems to work well so far.
This would be a great addition to Dex Desktop while working on a TV. I haven't tested it yet but it seems like a fit made in heaven.
I will try! Great work! Thanks!
Great app and work. Anyone could post a new video showing all the functions?
It could be used like a regular mouse ... Pointing, moving, right and left click ... Except toolbar?

Looks interesting
thanks for your great work, can you please provide us a link for the apk file, for those of us who can't access the play store?
This app save me; I was looking for all kinds of alternatives to use the Gear VR on my note 10 as a cardboard viewer but couldn't remap neither the spen nor the controller to trigger a screen touch (click). With this app I can finally do it.
Only one request, would you send me an apk wich doesn't write the mouse on screen? I always end up putting the mouse on the right and setting the sensitivity to 0 in order to hide it, but when I restart the App it puts it on the center.
A suggestion, make something like this app with the settings I'm telling you and put it in the app store with something like "Spen VR clicker" or something, I know it would be really helpful and many users would download it.

I don't manage to get it working on my note 10+. It's running Android 10.
I think it has to do with the permissions or the s-pen. Can anyone tell me exactly how to set them correctly?
Awesome. Most definitely will be a neat tool to use
