Hi all,
I'm new to this. I am trying to back up my O2 Exec's ROMs before flashing a new ROM. I have superCID the phone and unlocked successfully but when trying to run a backup through mtty116.exe (typing in task 32) I get an error message saying-
USB>task 32
SD:Waiting for card insert.........
CMD3 for SD, it's OK, ready to get RCA from response.
SDetected one card
SD:ready for transfer OK
d.total_lba=1E2000
d.block_size=200
d.RCA=2
d.drv_type=40000000
d.busWidth=1
Total card size=3C400000
Read singal error D3
SD read fail!
Level = 0
Is this because I'm using a 2Gb SD card?
If so is there a way around this as this is only card I have. BTW I tried partitioning SD card to contain only a 128Mb partition but it didn't help.
I have been following the buzzdev.net tutorial at
http://buzzdev.net/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=33157&start=0&sid=1964ccffa3671d8cc24b1d1a71074929
Any comments or help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,I have an xda orbit and would like to install Artemis Touch 4.01. I have recently updated from wm5 to wm6. I have a 2gb micro sd card and I'm getting a little confused about the first step in the installation process "1. Copy SDConfig.txt to root of storage card (omit this step if you have a SDHC card)" Is this a path on my phone? And if so how and where do i locate it in my directory to copy it to my micro sd card? Also do I then remove the micro sd card as suggested in the second step (as I dont believe my sd card is of the sdhc type)? And finally I havent previously cid unlocked my device, does step one for process three unlock my device such as the process here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403? Sorry for my newbie questions but any help would be much appreciated and hopefully make it clear for any others that may be confused!
Many Thanks!

As I understand it, SDConfig.txt is used for user customisation i.e. if you want some programs installed at the end of the flashing process (If I'm mistaken then I'm sure someone will correct me). I've flashed my device without this and all is well.
Step 1 does indeed do the CID unlocking. Once you device reboot after this process watch the screen to ensure SPL is 1.11.... If that is the case go to step 2.
Also, remember to back up everything you need to keep with PPCPimBackup or something because you will lose everything from main memory.
Finally, you don't need to remove the 2Gig card,

Hi,
Tried this rom, but file size mismatch (rom is only 41MB).
Read somewhere you have to flash this from SD card.
But : now almost everyone works with SDHC cards, and for all the roms that we flash, we have to pull out the SDHC card or flashing does not work.
Any other methods to flash this rom without card in it ?
Thanks,
Innovator
I've been asking the same question, but nobody answered.
I wish I could have this mini ROM.
Would appreciate all helps.
No other possibility....
... as far as I know. Either via activesync or via a non-sdhc card. Don't you have a "forgotten" sd-card in another phone?
Even the smallest card (from 64 mb or more) will do.
Good luck!
HJ
it gives " invalid certificate" error while trying to flash from SD card
any solutions to this prob..
much appreciated.
I flash this ROM using 2GB SD Card.
Your Device it should be Hard SPL first.
I flash this ROM using an old 2GB SD Card. Took few minutes and its done.
I am trying to root my UK vodafone HTC magic, so that I can install the cyanogen mod software on it, and have been unable to create a goldcard. I have now tried 5 different SD cards: 3 of them Kingston, 1 Sandisk and 1 Samsung card. I am absolutely tearing my hair out now!
I have been following this guide (forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4289899) and every time I get to the testing your SD card stage Windows prompts me to format the card, whilst Android reports "Damaged SD card."
The guide suggests that if this happens, I have to get a new SD card, well you can imagine my frustration that none of the cards I have purchased so far (3 of them specifically for this purpose) have worked. Is this guide accurate? Am I doing something wrong? Or should I just continue buying SD cards until I can find one that works? If so can anyone recommend one that absolutely definitely works? Preferably with a weblink to somewhere I can buy it.
Any help would be much appreciated, this is driving me insane now!
The problem you've got isn't the sdcard. In fact, it is the way you write to the sdcard. Ensure that you format the sdcard FAT32 and that you write the first 0x200 raw sector bytes and not to the first 0x200 bytes of the partition itself.
It will then work just fine.

Thanks for the reply. So you mean copy the data into the first 170 offsets of sector 1 (not 0), starting from offset 0200 rather than 0000 as the guide suggests?
No, it has to start at sector 0, offset 0, with length of 0x200 bytes.
I guess you are trying to write to the wrong device.
What do you mean by the wrong device? I am definitely writing to the SD card. Or do you mean that its a bad SD card? I tried purchasing an SD card reader instead of doing it mounted on the phone and that hasn't helped. Still get the same result
I'm sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, I just don't understand why it isn't working. I have been following the guide exactly but the same problem each time. I have tried Kingston 2GB cards (three different ones) which everyone seems to think will work but they aren't working for me. The only thing I have noticed that is different is that the guide says I should select the drive from the "physical disk" category, whereas on my computer it appears under the "logical disk" category. Would this have an effect?
Thanks again for your help.
OK I seem to have done it What made the difference was taking the card out of the SD card reader after saving changes, turning off the phone, putting the card in and then turning the phone back on again.
Edit - scratch that, it seems to have just re-formatted it automatically.
Ok it turns out I was being stupid, and didn't run HxD as administrator. Yet another victim of UAC!
I want to make a goldcard on HTC Legend.
when I enter "cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid"
it always show "No such file or dicrectory"
But if I enter "cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:*/cid"
it show 03534453553038478090011038008976
so is it correct ?
i have XP and when i put the card back in and reboot the phone, it still says damaged sd card..any idea?
still sd card destroyed
i have the same problem, but i run the hex editor in administrator mode (windows 7) :S
i do all the proccedure but at the end i get the destroyed sd card.
i tried formating the card after mounting to pc ( so i start the proccesdure with formated card) and also tried after formating it by phone (with initial android files on it) don't know which one is the right . i guess formating after mounting to pc.
also reversing the cid isn't exact reversing, it's kind of mix reversing right?
i tried that with goldcard helper application and qmat, still no luck.
i guess i do something wrong with the hex editor,
i run it on administrator mode, i open the sd card on one tab and the goldcard on the other and i copy the goldgard 0-170 to my card..
what about 0x200 sector ???
also when formating sd card with allocation unit size shall i choose? does it mater?
thanx
just got the DESIRE HD yesterday and ive been trying to goldcard it all day, im not a complete noob (ive had the X10, HTC dual, htc snap,htc hero), but im having a noob moment....
Its something im doing wrong when im goldcarding.......
*i use gold card finder to get the reversed mmc2 then i get the .img from the site
*i start up the hex editor in Win7 (64bit with admin perm) pull up both the flash disk and image.
*i have modified the flash disk in a card reader AND via the phone
*ive copied th .img file and replaced the lines from 000 to 0170 and saved .
*BUT every time the card becomes unusable, EVERY TIME.
*i have 2x 8gb stock cards and an 16gb sandisk card,
*each 1 of them does not work.
GRRRRRRRRR
my phone is unbranded purchsed in NZ, with no branding but i get the CID error so i have to goldcard
ANY HELP would be soooooo rad
Did you select your SD as physical disk? Did you do a full format to your card (FAT32) before starting the process? Try those..
ill give that a try thanks

Hi well respected xda community!
Recently i faced with a very uncommon card reading/writing problem. Here is the story:
I'm using a Sandisk Micro SDHC Class 4 8Gb card with my HTC Legend (Android 2.2)
When i'm trying to write/copy data to the card i got the "unexpectedly removed SD card" message. Of course at first i thought it just need a format. I did it with default windows 7 format (FAT32 default allocation unit size) but nothing changed.
Here comes the interesting part:
It's not a common card failure, when the card connected to the PC with SD adapter+card reader i can fully use it, write, read, and copy without errors. I made some analysis with proper programs and no bad sector was found. Everything went fine. If i copy data to the card from the PC with card reader its functional with the phone. I can read pdfs, listen to music from SD Card but! if i try to copy an app from the phone or write random data on the card it's get "removed" and i get the error. It's the same on Samsung Monte.
I tried to format it with NTFS, FAT32 32k,16k, 8k, 4k allocation unit size. Tried several applications like: SD Formatter 3.1, MiniTool Partition Wizard etc. to format. And of course i did format with the phone.
Here is what may help:
1.) A good and trusted memory card analyzing program.
2.) Format tips and tricks for android, HTC. (Maybe some awesome free format program will do the trick)
3.) A fully functional microSDHC 8 Gb class 4 - Sector, Cylinder and allocation size log file. (So i can format mine with the exact same numbers.)
4.) A Genius who knows whats the solution If it's you, please let me know!
Later i'll attach the log file from the analyzer and some information about the card. (Currently i'm at work.)

Solving my own problem.
As soon as i get home i'll try this program:

Also, i found and interesting post:

Maybe i have to change something with the LBA thingy.
found it
I found a sector error on the memory card. Used Flash Drive/Card Tester and Chkflsh programms. Mystery solved
