video playback???
i was reading the htc rhodium review on mobile review
http://mobile-review.com/pda/review/htc-touch-pro2.shtml
and i saw the video benchmark ,i got shocked (almost same hardware ) so different benchmark
someone can explains me why?
better drivers in that rom?
h/w acceleration?
Is there a chance that h/w acceleration is coming into play here?
We know that X1 dont get h/w acceleraion with core player, maybe the standard APIs are h/w accelerated on Rhodium?
Ok well basically the Touch pro had a lower Resolution screen (480 x 640 pixels) which equals 307200 total pixels
On the otherside the X1 and touch Pro 2 have higher resolution screens (480 x 800 pixels) which equals 384000 total pixels
This means that the x1 and touch pro 2 have to process 76800 more pixels in each frame than the touch pro.
that my explanation anyway..
i dont care about touch pro vs xperia
i care about touch pro 2 (rhodium) vs xperia
xperia is 30 to 40% slower??
why?
The hardware is the same...so....better driver!
if your running Windows Mobile 6.1 then yeah the Xperia is gonna be wayyyyy slower. Install WinMo 6.5 and then see the difference. heaps faster (and yeah the beta is faster than the final version of WinMo 6.1)

It's like vista vs Windows 7
all round drivers etc methinks. Although when using a rhodium based rom, the video aint much better. Ask a good cook (itje, agent 47, gttrab etc)
which are the best drivers for video playback for xperia?

Can someone confirm, that in WinMo 6.5 the playback speed with Coreplayer is faster? If so, which ROM were you using for testing?

I did tried that. No visible difference in speed both in coreplayer and in wmplayer.

Same results here.... imho i think that video performance is slower on WM 6.5..
same here. no difference and even found quite a few posts stating there would be no difference.
about playback in wm6.5. I have to say that playback in coreplayer and media panel both was way better in wm6.1 custom ROMs than in wm6.5 ROMs. to be honest video is unwatchable in all wm6.5 ROMs I have tried and I do not know what to do.
The Touch Pro2 is 6 months newer..what do you expect?
Wow, with my newly flashed ROM I just noticed that my videos plays with no lagg at all. It's so freakin nice!
If you want I can look up what ROM I use, but I think it's called PC4tech or something like that! Everything else is also very good with this ROM!
do you use bt stereo headset?

Hi all,
just wondering if in your opinion the Trinity has the same video bug as in HTC Cruise (bad video performance)?
I don't feel it's very fast, i.e. in scrolling the Program window.
What do you think?

Trinity has working ImageOn while the Cruise does not. You can see the difference it while simple benchmarking as well as with your own eyes.
Is it possible to improve the quality of video on Htc HD , because its very bad what is realy surprising for me ?
Thanks ?
what u talking about?
i just use encoder from this site and i did resize 800x480 dvd for my HD and i have been stuned from quality, not just me, everybody who did watch that lol
Indeed, I use the encoder aswell and have done most of the tweaks on the forums here and the video quality is excellent now. Even good enough to watch an entire movie on it IMO, which you cant say about a lot of devices.
x-mann and antrak, which player do you guys use to get the enjoyable experience?
wat encoder u all refering to?
Just asking the same damn question

Have a look here:

Projection has made a video encoder especially for the Blackstone / Diamond which combined with the memory card tweak should get you non stuttering videos!
Ok. But this is encoder program for all ready recorded videos , but it does not improve the quality of the video when you are recording it on the HD.
Or am I wrong ???
Thanks !
LMAO you're talking about recording video with the HD's camera
There are some tweaks to improve the quality a little;
- Use Mpeg4 (not H.263)
- Change one registry value: in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Taskmanager\Lite. Change "DesiredMemory" to dword: 8192 (default was 4096) (don't forget to soft reset your device).
- It's better in good lighting conditions
well to be onest...i just bought my HD 1 week before and i use default player, i tryed CORE pplayer but same movie is with worse FPS and i use it TCPMP with subtittle suport but i got low FPS again...maby i need to make some settings, as i said im new on hd, so everyone who got some suggestions to watch movies with subtittle suport im gona apriciated

He's not 'managed to get it working' - it's HTC's FroYo ROM so it's official!
And yeah, read/search the other threads before posting
awesome news m8
but where the files are!
we need files ,not youtube
or thouse are aproaching news
Going by the fact that no one has this yet (really) if it was leaked it'd be easy for HTC to trace it and get the person with it in trouble...
yep ,normaly
nobady wont expose himself & be fire from work,
but question still stay ,
are this youtube picture :work or not
Wow... this really seems to be a leaked froyo with Sense NICE! Hope we see it for real here on xda soon...
EDIT:
I can remember the user that uploaded the video.. he cooked for HTC Diamond2 and always had the newest leaked roms... so this is no joke.
Thread moved to General.

Shakiness and the phone moving makes it hard to judge the fps properly.
guys its not fake
been released on the development thread as dj-droid by udk.
enjoy.
Another video here from Fightspit, 720p is on the youtube page.
Raw Video data:
Resolution: 1280x720
Data rate: 6186 Kbits/s
Total Rate (in bits): 6199 Kbits/s
FPS: 21 frames/s
Looks good.
As you all know 720P recording is now possible on the hd2 through windows phone 7. in order to get this feature on android builds updated drivers need to be included in android packages as well as a kernel that can support it. I am currently looking for help in updating drivers while i am working to stabilize some existing kernels. to any who can CONTRIBUTE please pm me and i will get back to you.
UP
Would be greatful as i'm sure hundreds of HD2 fans!
Bump
Why aren't more people bumping this thread?!
I would love to finally have the ability to record in 720p.
I really liked the 720p resolution on the WP7 rom. Cant wait to have it in android
That will be one of the greatest achievement for HD2.
Thank you for your dedication.
Yes! i hope it gets fixed!
HD2 does everything; note

This is more in response to the banner you have at the bottom of your post saying the HD2 can do everything "what's next..." and showing a playstation symbol.
Android has emulators galore! And PS1 games run very nice utilizing them. (You have GBA, Genesis, SNES, etc to choose from as well). Just note in case you didn't know.

Bump!!! 720p video record... it would be amazing
woww.. i thought 720p cam impossible..but HD2 rulesss4ever!!!
When I tried the WP7 the quality was great but the focusing was aweful. It took quite a while to switch from close objects focus to further ones and the other way around too. I hope this can be improved too. I hope you find some help on your quest
PS. I hope you dont mind me using your signature picture as I quite like it and to be honest I wont give my HD2 for any other phone while I was thinking about selling it 4 months ago
While you're working on kernels, see if you can get Wifi Calling working using the wifi calling app from tmo USA.
ooh the excitement...

and as for an update for those following the thread, i am currently editing the cm kernel to try to make stable recording on MDJ ginger build.
If we get 720p recording to work...
There's nothing more to wish from our beloved device!
We can do everything and more!
If you compare the HD2 and the DHD today there's nothing that makes the DHD better.
On the contrary, it can more than any other phone outside there!

i will try as of now that takes the list behind 720p recording, mostly because there are work arounds for wifi calling via android ~android through tango, skype, ovoo, ect
How about starting a bounty for 720p recording as well?
I think it will motivate developers a little bit more.
And I know that it would be a success as well, remember how much money were gathered in a thread about a working camera in DHD builds a while ago?
This is the last border for android perfection in HD2, and we already know that it CAN be done in our hardware (WP7).
Hi All,
While i am really happy and i desperate to see 720p recording working on hd2.android, but personally 720p recording in windows 7 doesn't really look 720p, i feel the resolution is faaaaar less the the regular 800*400 recording..
which makes me believe if hd2 is actually meant to record 720P or is it just a bug in windows 7 that it says 720p when it actually doesn't!....
Nice, very nice Finally, full hardware accelerated web browser!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTpf0J5vfMs
Head to 50 seconds ...
Happy .. Happy .. Happy ..
I can now ditched Opera Mobile .
Hell, it's "finally, hardware accelerated UI!".
Lmao. Late to the party. One of the requirements of ICS is hardware acceleration of 2d elements of the ui/os. Its about f'in time google.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
I was hoping some of the browser controls would be at the bottom of the screen since it'll make browsing with one hand easier kinda like in opera mobile, reaching the top tab button will be a pita with your thumb with such a tall screen..
Is scrolling hardware accelerated too? One of the main reasons I liked samsung devices is because of the amazinh smooth scrolling.
Between the click of the light and the start of a dream.
The scrolling and pinching/zooming looks pretty quick and smooth.
I'd like to see the results of a SGS2 browser test ran the Galaxy Nexus: open a bunch of pages with flash videos playing at the same time (I think there were over 10), and then zoom/pinch one of them. The SGS2 handled that without lag. I'd like to see the HTML5 and Flash results from the GUIMark3 benchmark, too.
The Sunspider result is 1983ms (vs. 3385ms for SGS2, smaller is better) and the V8 version 6 result is 1387 (vs. 336 for SGS2, larger is better), so that bodes well for browsing on the Galaxy Nexus.
Cant wait for the ics to my nexus s. Damn smooth
Every video I see makes me more and more excited for ICS and the GN. So damn sick.
[Q] GPU rendering (smoooth scrolling) in Browser
Hi,
I can't find info whether Google implemented GPU scrolling in ICS ala iOS or Samsung in their latest 2.3.4+ firmwares for GS and GS2?
That's only thing that's keeping me away from AOSP (CM7 now), but if it's in the ICS now, I wouldn't care about Samsung abandoning SG1.
If anyone has NG, please try. Thanks.
From the videos I've seen, the whole os is hardware accelerated including the browser

Everything OS-wise is supposed to be 2D Hardware Accelerated according to the Android Code release page. However, it might be more sluggish compared to the SGS2, as they're both Hardware-Accelerated, but the SGS2 is only pushing 480*800 while the Nexus coming in at 1280*720.

The British tech blog, The Inquirer, posted a short review of the Galaxy Prime. This is what it had to say about performance:
"We certainly noticed the speed when browsing the web and opening apps, but we did notice a slight lag when changing the orientation of the device."
The article doesn't mention if the review device was running 4.01 that had the fix for video stuttering and whatnot.

You'd be surprised how little power is required to perform full 2D acceleration.

In Android Central's quick look video of the Galaxy Nexus that was posted today, the narrator mentions that the entire device is hardware accelerated multiple times.
I can't post links yet, but you can find the video embedded in the 4th story on the second page of Android Central. Likewise, you can search YouTube for "galaxy nexus, today" (without the quotes) and it's the first video.
Hope this helps!

I've just seen the video at the AndroidCentral.com. The browser is fast, but the point is not how quick you can scroll the page (it is quick), but how smooth is the actuall scrolling. If you saw iOS in personal (or Samsung 2.3.5+ firmwares for SGS1/SGS2) compared to AOSP, you'd know what I'm talking about.
No smooth browsing as I can see so far, unfortunately.

How do you expect to see 60fps smoothness on a heavily compressed 30 fps video?
And it's getting worse since there is no vsync between phone display and camera when recording the video (of course).

Do you see on the long webpage partial appearing of the page while scrolling on sgs2? On NG?
Have you ever tried Opera Mobile? Even on my SGS it has amazing performance, and you don't see parts of the webpage only render correctly after a delay. It's all 60FPS and rendered right away.
These guys beat Samsung and Google for performance. Only issue is their browser takes a few seconds to start up.
From this video I would say the scrolling in the browser is quite smooth. I had a SGS II before so I have the comparison.
