[REF] Multillanguage Support for the Diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Enabling Multilanguage Support for Touch Diamond. GSM ONLEY NOT CDMA
Do this at your own risk, I seek no reward for this and don’t hold me responsible for any information given here. I have tried this on my own devices which are xda Ignito and orange htc and it worked a treat.
Here you go Guys and Girls a step by step guide with photos to have all the
languages your heart desire (except Chinese) on your xda, mda and of
course htc diamond. If your preferred phone language is not Arabic, then you
can have the setting changed to WWE with your desired language enabled
to let you send and receive SMS, manage Microsoft one note and word
documents so you can read, edit and write in your chosen language with all
other MUI staying in English. To send SMS and edit in your chosen
language; you would, of course, need to add your own language keyboard
and there are plenty out there; I personally use Resco 4.1 multi language
keyboard, but that’s a personal choice. This support is available as an
extended package in htc WWE shipped ROMs for the Arab region, namely
version:
Diamond_MRII_RUU_Diamond_HTC_ARA_2.03.515_Radio_singed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship which available to download from htc-Europe. If you try to download it from
the official site and you’re told that this is not suitable for your device after
you enter you SN don’t panic, htc will only let you download ROMs if your
device SN matches the region it was shipped for and that doesn’t mean that
it will not work on your European device. THIS IS DEFINATLY A WWE ROM.
If you don’t have a compatible SN and your phone is GSM, just do a Google
search for the ROM and you should find it.
For you who have flashed a ROM before,
flashing this ROM should be easy. However, I understand that there are
problems flashing 2.xx.xxx ROMs from a PC and you have to do
certain things to the ROM so you can flash it from the phone’s internal
storage.
Please read related threads for that, I used my PC to flash this rom using
olipro's NBHutil to extract the MB files from the main NBH file from the
ROM and rebuild it so it can be flashed using Diamond Custom RUU or
using the RUU that came with the ROM after deleting the SPL.NBH and the
original RUU_singed.nbh and replacing it with the modified nbh
built using NBHutil (Make sure you do not build the SPL back
into the modified NBH and have the relevant hard SPL) I’m not
going to dwell on this subject as this is not the object of this thread.
For you who have not flashed a ROM before,
if you don’t know what you’re doing and can’t be bothered reading or afraid
that if you flash your device you’ll lose your warranty; you can use a cab
file to enabble mltillanguage.
Just copyThe multillinguage cab to your device and install it on the main
memory.
This cab is, baiscaly, extracted from the same ROM and modified by a guy
called TSD over an Arabic forum, I don’t know if I can make reference to the
said forum or upload the cab as I might be breaking this forum’s rules. The
cab file is for free on that other forum. I shall leave this matter to the
Moderators to decide if I can post it or not.
The steps for installing the extended package is, of course, different if you
are flashing the ROM and you should know how to apply it. If not ask here
and I will go through it.
Whichever way you want to go, the illustration applies for both flashing and
adding the .cab file. The reason being is once you install this, your MUI will
be in Arabic and if you’re not an Arabic user you will definitely be struggling
to change it back to English. The whole idea of this is to have a WWE
device capable of handling your own language’s SMS read and write and
other stuff mentioned earlier. Now go through the pictures and enjoy.

I suppose you need to build the ROM, using modified DLLs and EXEs. If the files are XIP and in ROM, you can't just copy it out from your /Windows.
Even if you managed to copy the files from a DUMPROM of a Blue Angel installation ROM, it is not permanent. When you perform a hard reset, your copied files will be gone.
Hi Asukal,
all you need to translate are the .mui files. Don't mess with .exe or .dll files directly.
Search the Micro$oft site how MUI works on WM2003.
Check out this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13714

Custom ROMs

I know this has been asked many times before as I have been searching the forum and read wiki, but how do you take the current rom off your universal so that it can be edited/backed up and put back on as a released rom would be?
I really want the dump so i can input all my connection/email settings and small programs I like, and use it as a (near prefect/instant) backup when hard resting, i understand about putting items in the ext_rom and editing the config file for auto run.
After reading a thread somewhere, downloaded WinCE Cab Manager (http://www.ocpsoftware.com) then looked into some of the cabs on my ext_rom, where it comes to installing registry entries will they have to be entered via .xml files, or will a simple .reg file work and be entered?
At the moment I have one of the WM6_prerelease roms, is this why many of the things i have read will not work , if so i will downgrade to WM5 to try this, but from what I read it seem just the ext_rom was upgraded because there was only nk.nbf file, no ms_.nbf so i guess its more of a add on rather than a full OS. I've used all sorts of tools, inculeding the rom tool in the Universal service guide and the instructions in there, buzz's instructions and many i cant remember off top my head...
All help will be appreciated,
thanks
Why not just use a backup program?
@Frosty
I think you are confused.
You have read the forum but have not fully understood.
Radio_.nbf is the radio part.
ms_.nbf is the extended rom part.
nk.nbf is the M$ part.
so nk.nbf = os
ms_.nbf = ext_rom
radio_.nbf = no point asking...
but can nk.nbf be os and ext_rom?
I am still very interested in cooking my on rom
still curious for the answers to questions asked earlier
Yes it is, see this other post about cooking
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251710
There a link to explain how to split the original nkn.bf file into the 2 separate files.
yeah, i've read that and downloaded the app previously, used o2's latest wm5 rom, the thing I want to do is get my rom from my exec now (wm6 with my settings)
being a beginner to this cooking, how do I remove applications and insert new ones into the roms? some that are installed are not in the ext rom:
tweaks
small apps (x button, soft rest, etc.)
please don't take it as I want to be given all the answers with no work, the internet is so larger and a lot of things I've been finding are based on previous htc devices, such as before Buzz had his universal

WM6 - which rom!

Hiya everyone,
I'm a bit of a noobie when it comes to flashing phones - but I'm really wanting to get a stable reliable version of WM6 on my Tytn. I've had the HTC Offical WM6 ROM (that keeps hangin when the phone goes to sleep - have to SR to get the phone working again), I've tried Black Satin (the WiFi/new Com Manager doesn't seem to work very well).
There seems to be tonnes of different ROMs - and I'm wondering is there one that stands out above the rest for reliability?
I've done a search and not found the answer to this - so anyone with any info....?
Ta people
A
My best recommendation is READ the threads on the different roms.
The comments on them will give you a good idea of how the ROMs are running on people's phones.
The Best Rom Ever:
Schap's 3.57a, or any ROM proudly made by Schap's.

I'd have to agree with this except for one minor thing.....BB Connect will not work with Schap's Rom.
Anyone willing to Hex Edit it and make it work? I PM'd Schap however I'm assuming he's already flooded with requests.
I guess we can help by suggesting things you may want to look out for:
Only some of these may/may not be important to you...
BBConnect compaitibility
Big Storage, Free RAM & Storage
Smart Dialling
3G Video Dialling
Office Version (They're all pretty much 2007 now, but not all have OneNote)
BT issues - Stereo, DUN vs/and Internet Sharing
Included apps, Standard File Explorer
Included Dialpad style & functions, Kaiser/std ?
Included CommManager & Style
Speed & Stability
MMS/SMS combins (Arcsoft Version)
Included operator settings?
Included Homescreens - HTC Weather etc etc
VOIP functionality
PTT functionality
I'm sure there are loads more...
Lets turn this thread into something useful. Rather than this rom is better than that, etc, lets help the Noobs by adding to this list of things they may want to consider.
my £0.02.
i've tried most, and i'd definitely go for schap's, preferably 3.57

All current ROMs ( and you do want to run the latest, as 99% ROMs released before June have issues ) on this forum are based on the same release. So technically speaking they are all same. The difference is added / removed applications and how well this was done.
Regarding BBC - even if the ROM does not state the compatibility - it is a matter of 4 simple steps to make it compatible. 1) Download the ROM file, unrar it to desktop - you'll get 2 files extracted .exe and .nbh ( RUUWrapper.exe RUU_signed.nbh ) 2) Run winhex ( http://www.x-ways.net/ ) and load the .nbh file, HEX search for the first string in my signature and replace it with the second string. There is going to be 2 occurences you'll have to replace. Save the .nbh file 3) execute the .exe file to flash the .nbh ROM file to your device 4) after the flash use a registry editor to change [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Versions] "Aku"=".2.3.0"
Of course you have to be careful and all disclaimers apply
If this is over your head - just PM me.

IT WORKS!!!! In every language! Change the ROM for Ipaq 114

Hello Everyone!
I had problems with my Ipaq. It has an italian ROM. So I´d like to flash it with an german ROM. On the HP-Homepage i found an italian and a german ROM. But of course it isn´t possible to use the german version. Couldn't anyone cook or dump a GERMAN ROM for the Ipaq 114? I think here are a lot of Germans who would really really appreciate that.
Many thanks!!!
Thomas Further Informations: Isn´t it possible to overwrite the italian nbf-file with the german one???
Got new informations!!!
Instruction to flash:
1.) You need the german and the italian Rom-update. Both have to unpack on your hard disk!
2.) You connect PDA with the PC, but not with the ac-power.
3.) Start the italian Softpaq. Meanwhile the Update the programm will recognize, that the update does only work with ac-plugged
in.
4.) No you rename the Romfile from the german Update with the name from the italian one and copy it to the folder with the
italian Update
5.) NOW plug in the AC-Power Cable
On this way you bypass the country check - this will be done before the checking of the ac-power.
No ideas???
It must be possible... Here are so many "professionals"!!!
By the way: This is a great forum here. Interesting discussions...
Has anyone experience...
...with the instruction from above???
Thanks for supporting
First, I have to say Hello!, this is my first post in this forum. I own an ipaq 110 classic series with WWE(world wide english).
I'have tried many ways to perform a language change, none of them appears to work, at least in this model. The method described above don't work on ipaqs 110 series, because this model only have a mini-usb port in the bottom end; which supplies data connection and power. Then... How I can "connect the AC power" to the device?. O maybe I'm omitting something.
Sorry about my english, I'm from Spain.
First of all you have to forbid your pda the charging via usb.
Use these settings to do this.
When the software ask, reactivate the settings...
Try it...
Greetings!
Bye the way. My english isn´t better. I´m from germany
EDIT !!!!!
SORRY!
It doesn´t work to deactivate the charging funktion. The problem is, that the pda use just one cable for the datas and for charging.
When you start the rom-update the setup programm automaticly start the charging option. The update starts immediatly...
No chance for overwrite the original language rom-file with the one from - in my case - the german one...
Need help! Please!!! It´s very important for me to have a german system (especially for my software).
additional information: i have a spanish model and i need urgently a german one...!!!!
HELP NEEDED!!!
Finally... I'have found a way to change language on ipaq 110 series (I think I have seen this method somewhere else)...
First you need:
1. ROM update for your device's language (in this case spanish)
2. ROM update what you want to change (germany or other)
both can be downloaded from HP's web page.
You must unpack each ROM in a directory with winrar, by separate, for example in the desktop.
Run the RUU utility of your device's language, the program will make some checkups and tells, it is correct the ROM and the language. Proceed with the update.
THESE ARE THE IMPORTANT STEPS:
1. The progress bar in the PC screen will not move forward, and in the device the screen will show "RUU downloading mode" in a white background (I suppose this is the famous "bootloader mode"). In this moment you have to paste the "HPImage.nbf" from germany ROM (I suggest before you copy the file and let ready for the paste) to the directory with your device original ROM language, you have aprox 5 sec to do so; the update will continue with no warnings. The device's screen will show "downloading mode" and the progress bar in the setup in the PC will reach the end.
2. The device will perform a "CLEAN BOOT" in green letters and... your device is speaking germany (or other language).
I'm not sure how safe the procedure is.
I suggest you run the ROM update of your original device language before doing the change, to check the screens, the timing, etc.
Hope it works in your device. Mine now is speaking spanish.
Regards.

Netherlands ROM
Hi, a have a problem, i got Ipaq 114 witch Netherlands ROM (NLD, Dutch) and i would like English, German or French (it does not matter), but to flash i need Netherlands rom to, but on official HP site it isn't (just only English, German or French). Can anybody help me pls, give me some link to Netherlands rom? thx
I have the actually german based ROM (April 2008) and wondering about this symptom:
Always when I connected my "blank" IPAQ 114 to active sync (sync with local Outlook) "and make" a new partnership - the Time on my PDA is "-9 hours" from our local time.
I test this with other IPAQ 114, with other Windows XP, and other AS 4.5 - always the same problem. If I use an other PDA (HTC Touch HD, Pro, S740) all work fine and the time on this devices are correct...
Any Idea what is the timesync Problem with ipaq 114 and active Sync?
the Language settings, time zones are correct on the IPAQ114.
I found a solution for an old IPAQ 6315 :But is that the really solution?
I found out that this is a know problem by HP. There is no current fix, but they did provide me with a work around. The work around is a 2 step process and both must be done before performing an ActiveSync. If not, the problem will become worse by advancing all the appointments in the host's calander. First, in the date and time properities on the PC, UNCHECk the automatically adjuct clock for daylights saving time box. Second, if the IPAQ is located in Eastern Standard Time, set the IPAQ's time zone to Indiana (IN) as they do not observe DST. If in MST set the time zone to AZ. If in CST set the time zone to Saskatchewan, Canada.

Does anyone here have any idea if is possible to update an iPAQ 116 (that is pretty much the same as the 110 and 114) from WM6.0 to WM6.5?
I have one here but I don't even have it's instalation CD. For some reason I can't connect it by USB, just by Bluetooth.
