Hi!
I have an M2000, and I would appreciate if anyone could explain to me how to trigger the VPN client. I also don't understand how to manage the 'work' and 'internet' connections and how it relates to:
a) the applications: activesync, explorer, inbox
b) connection manager and the 'My work network'
Can anyone explain it to me? I have managed to synchronize my mobile with my PC using my local network, but I really wanted to use VPN to sync from work. I have followed the visual tutorial available on the net, but still it does not call the VPN server.
Finally! I managed to connect my M2000 to my home PC using a VPN connection and sync both machines. It's just great!
I still think that connection manager is confusing, and that people at Microsoft could have made it much easier.
Anyway, here is an article that explains it all:

I should stop answering my own emails.
Does anybody know of a software that allows remote access from mobile device to office pc?
SPV M2000
could try this one its called logmein and its free

Or PcAnywhere by Symantec
Terminal Service Client found on your PDA.
Need to be running 2000 or XP Pro on your desktop. Firewall needs to be open, (if the office allows you to use it they have a *MINOR* security Issue to say the least).
if your office is totally unsecured, there's also vncviewer for the pocketpc out there. i use that for my home computer which only has a router for protection

the connection dont use the nic and such but the usb or bluetooth
and the way it's routed the rest of the network cant see if the internet ip's being access'd from the pc you sync with or the pocketpc you sync with
The best remote soft - VNC client for PPC

I tried the terminal service client remotely connect to my desktop which is running Windows XP Pro SP2. It works really great
anyone know of an ssh client that would allow me to tunnel terminal services client? I need it to run on wm5 on a blue angel. commercial solutions are ok...
thanks in advance
HTC Universal SSH discussion for WM5
Terminal Service client should come with Windows Mobile 5.
SSH clients tend to be text-only. Otherwise you would need to tunnel the X-server connection out, which is not currently possbile for mobile devices. For more on SSH, check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=30491&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=ssh
Finally, there are VNC clients which allow something like terminal service tunneling to both Windows and Linux servers. A great freeware program to do this is .NET VNC Viewer available at:

Has anyone gotten either the 6.0 or 6.1 RDP client working on their Excalibur? I've tried both clients. The 6.0 I wasn't getting a mouse cursor and the format was all wrong. The 6.1 client was much better except that I can not use the keyboard.
I'm open to an alternative to MS RDP if you have gotten something else working both keyboard and mouse.

I use VNC for remote desktop with MochaVNC and TightVNC server no need for fake cursor etc, works straight away.
zadesktop
zaDesktop by zaTelnet works just fine everytime I've used it, even on EDGE.

Thanks for the help. I tried the VNC and zaDesktop solutions both worked. In the end I was a little happier with the zaDesktop.
Thanks again.
Some help pls
Found this for zadesktop
""zaDesktop is a Windows Remote Desktop (Terminal Server) client, very simple and easy to use. Just enter the desired IP address, choose the operating system and login with your username and password.""
Where would I enter the username and password, and how would I know the IP? Where am I to configure these settings first? I did not see a desktop client at the zadesktop site. What am I missing? Could someone guide me please?

you use any standard VNC server software such as RealVNC Server. install that on the host computer...install whatever client you prefer on the phone.
configure the server software (this is where you set a username/pass)
the ip of the host machine..if you are on a local network, it will be the local IP of that machine (in windows go to start > run and type cmd ...in the command prompt type in ipconfig .....that will show your local ip).
if you are trying to connect from outside of the local network you would need to configure port forwarding on your router to forward port 5900 to the local IP of the host machine. you would then connect to the public IP of your router which will route you to the host IP you set in your port forwarding
Thanks for pointing me to zadesktop. This was one of the applications I've been waiting for. It works great! Now all I want is a built-in answering machine app.

Hello,
I'm looking for a software that act as a server for sharing my files in file explorer on the network. The inverse function works fine but there is no serve on Wm 6.1 for serving file sharing system.
I don't want to use FTP server.
Thanks a lot.
Normally file sharing can normally be done via FTP on a Windows Mobile device since that is the most reliable. The function used to be available as an Ad-hoc network via WiFi but Microsoft turned off the function a while back. Easiest way to get file sharing now is via FTP . Another option is using an online data server and then sharing files online.
One other idea is to use this:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Internet-Utilities/Mobile-Web-Server-Free-42332.shtml
which turns your Windows Mobile device into a web server. You can then access everything via HTTP or FTP.
Thanks a lot it really useful.
could please recommend a just good FTP server?
Try this:
http://www.mochasoft.dk/freeware/ftpd.htm
Works pretty well and it's free. If not, then just use the webserver application since it's almost the same thing except it adds HTTP access.
