This thread will be used for the development of my 6.5 rom for the 700wx.
Let the cooking begin!
Update 6-5-2009:
I'm going to be on vacation for the next week. Please watch for new posts to this thread in case joojoobee666 makes some more progress on our little display driver issue.
Update 6-3-2009:
joojoobee666 said:
Ok guys, here's the scoop. After many...MANY failed ROM's, a bricked phone brought back to life (thanks to NightRaven's awesome knowledge of the 700wx for saving my test phone), lot's of tears and cries of anguish there is still no working ROM, but we have made some progress.

We finally got confirmation today that the hang on boot is being caused by the OEM ddi.dll display driver. We have tried all the ddi.dll we could find in the publicly available Carrier sanctioned ROMs, but no matter which one we use, gwes.exe hangs on boot. Today we managed to procure a copy of ddi_nop.dll (it's basically a dummy display driver) and used it in place of ddi.dll. Windows Mobile 6.5 did indeed boot, but at the cost of no display. Since there is no display, we are unable to tell what else may be wrong.
So, this is an update and a call out to anyone who is willing to help. We are looking for anyone who can:
a.) offer a ddi.dll from any Intel PXA27x based device, and preferably a msm6500 chipset as well
b.) has a NEWER 700w/700wx ddi.dll than the Sprint 1.15 ROM or VZW 1.24 ROM
c.) has the skills to debug the one we have and figure out why it hangs any gwes.exe above 20273.
I'm sure once we get past this part there will be other bugs to work out, but one hurdle down is better than the none.
Finally...PROGRESS!

Update: The emulator image is almost complete. There are issues with file attributes which are causing some problems. Right now, you are unable to change the theme, delete files, or change network settings. These are the same issue I ran into on the 6.1 rom. It should only take a few days to work through the issue. I'll post what I have finished so far.

I am rooting HARD for you.
I've installed SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 and 2.1 for my nephew as an eye candy but they have been buggy to say the least.
I've been using the WM6.5 on my Touch Pro and my nephew really wants it in his phone.
If you can get 6.5 to work on my nephew's Treo 700wx, it will be like having a new phone all over again!
I can't wait until it is released. ETA on the release???

Yup, I've been a lurker for the longest time, and my first post was in anticipation for this 6.5 rom. Go NR!
So hows the cooking going NR..................I have been looking at 6.5 ...and it looks great ...ya think you can get it running on the 700 wx?????
Is it possible to make the WM6.5 version have two versions? one with activesync (normal one), and one with activesync REMOVED? because the KeepAlive hack doesn't work .. I am having it conflict with the USB modem and the ##DIAG port.
Also does the WM6.5 IE 6.1 (I think) fix the graphics corruption issues when scrolling webpages with the stylus?
TIA
any update on the 6.5 for the wx ?? waiting patiently
Waiting in line also ........
waiting...
The line is getting long.... Go NR!!!

I don't see why it wouldn't work. The 700wx seems to have enough rom and ram. However, I am still having trouble getting it to boot. I need to find a solid XIP. The search continues...
Anyone else here know how to cook a rom? I need more people to help with this project. I am still having trouble getting 6.5 to boot on the 700wx. It is still hanging on the welcome screen. I know the SYS and XIP are good, so I'm leaning towards it being an incompatability in the OEM.
If anyone want's to help, I'll post my kitchen as it is so far. If you can help, PM me...
See first post for updates....
bump for another update considering the success over at the Treo 750

To be honest, I'll spend most of my time in the REPORT ISSUES thread but please don't clutter that thread. I will check in here from time to time.
Expected release 8pm GMT -6. Thats around 1am GMT+10 (THU) for me. Time to make an espresso.
On a serious note, your efforts are appreciated.
Now if my wife can stop nagging me it will be the icing on the cake.
Clean release
Thanks for the work!!!!
Do you have plans to release a clean release without phm and all the other apps installed....
(just pulling down 0.20 now!! Will test the sms voicemail notification issue to see if exists in this rom..)
I'm to be the first one.

Got the ROM, now all I need is to get back to England, collect my repaired phone and start playing again...

I don't remember WM5 having this but yes apparently with WM6 you can increase Free Storage Memory by stripping out files.
I noticed this when after I embedded Adobe Acrobat. That is why I released two Roms. I actually flashed an older (RTM) WM6 Rom which had an insane amout of Free Storage Memory, like 62mb but there were no office files and I didn't bother looking into that else was missing...
Still planning on a clean Rom. I want to let this one run for a few days first to see if I broke anything new in it . The Beta team didn't find anything major or new but we only ran on it for a few days so that you guys could get your hands on it.
CCRDude said:
does the different "Free Storage Memory" actually mean that the storage space the user has later on to install software is affected by what is installed in the ROM? I thought that I had read that all this pre-installed stuff wouldn't.

For some reason It will not let me flash my T-Mobile UK Vario2 to your 0.20.
The program detects my current ROM, then when I click "Update" it says "Verifying the information on your Hermes" for around 30 seconds. After that an error prompt saying "Error 260 : Update Error"....
Any Ideas?

T-mobile WM6???
So much for T-Mo in Europe not offering WM6 updates to handsets shipped with WM5 OS originally. This file is good indication for T-Mo customers in Europe. Good news, guys.
now we know where radio 1.50 came from .. 3.60.110 ROM? Newer than 3.54.707.x or 3.57 ROM?
Nice
Nice; really looking forward to this one.
Has anyone tried this one yet?
Anyone tried this as yet?
Hmmm, Junior Member with 10 posts comes up with a new ROM? Interesting, but risky. Does anyone have a spare Hermes around that we can test this on? Has anyone already tested it?

some 1 test it please
im goin to make the developer team at tmo uk look stupid
Ill test it, could do with a new phone... Downloading...
thanks for your time

Right, when downloaded and run, it opens up, runs ruu_inside, which restarts the phone into the bootloader. It then runs another installer which goes through the normal update process. It reports upgrading to 3.60.110 so thats looking promising. About ten mins and Ill be able to tell you how fried my Hermes is
Its originally a Vodafone V1605 but now running the IPL2.10Olipro bootloader on Black Satin. The updater didnt complain about image types or versions at all so far.

is there a new ext rom?
i called t-mobile uk and they refused to say anything and they also tried to say that there was no way in the world there is wm6 for the vario 2
they obviously dont know about xda-developers
Of course they are refusing answers, its a test rom - see post #16.
But it is a newer build than the latest HTC roms.
I just updated my at&t 8525 and well i got the i guess official rom its kinda laggy on my phone which is alright but ive uploaded some programs on it and i got my sms threaded which im loving just wondering what would be a good rom for it and would it be the same affect as me updating the official one so i dont brick my phone and mess it up cause there too much to be getting a new one thanks in advance for any help
If you want one that is simple, safe, and made for at&t, you should go with VP3Gs last rom. Its nice, and stable.

Ya, and its always people with the 8525 lol.
I would use Binkys or MRH if I were you, thats what I use on my 8525. But in reality with SPB Mobile Shell you can use almost any ROM which is what im doing now.

While they are VERY good roms, if you're up for manually inputting Data, SMS settins, and tweaking a few other things, the new 6.1 roms FLY.

We were all noobs at one time. You need to read this first:

It explains everything you need to know to flash ROM's. Then you will need to flash many different ROM's and see which one has what you want. No ROM is the same, and everybody wants something a little different.
Hmmm

I havent tried the new ROM that he just posted but I flashed his rom on the 17th of June and it was SLOOOOW... I mean really slow - boot menu etc and it also sucked the battery down fast w.o WIFI and BT on. Really buggy for me. So, I switched back to a Schaps win 6.0 Rom - stable for now. But if you say this new one works pretty good and is stable, I will give it another shot.
Also, I cannot find out how to fix my QUERTY effin Keyboard. The blue buttons are all effed up - i.e. @ is ? etc... I have seen people talk about this encounter, but I do not know how to fix it. Has this happened to you at all? If so, do you know how to fix it?
so if i get one of these other roms i gotta flash it is there not any already on here made for the 8525 thats already flashed for cingular i mean im not getting this

Remember most importantly step 1 is to use HARDSPL V7 this will prevent your mobile phone becomming a brick. You can find details about flashing and hardspl in MRVANX's sticky at the top of this forum.
Good luck .. become an expert and give back to the community.

so is there any unofficial roms out there that are faster and stable then then official one that is already flashed i mean what do i have to do just explain it to me i gave up a iphone for this and its alot better but iw anna make it faster
Ok
Step 1 : Read Mrvanx guide on how to HARDSPL your phone (and do it)
Step 2 : Load CRC's V11 rom
Step 3 : Enjoy
You will have to read MRvanx post
You will have to read CRC's post

just run the exe and follow the instructions. requires no unlocking, etc.
thank you much.
THE core is 19208?
I'm guessing its gonna require tweaks, regedit and all that sort of things?
does the GPS still need to be primed with a program like AstroGPSLauncher for TomTom, iGuidance, or iGO?
Strange thing is, no Ext Rom.
Nevermind all the old stuff in the rom, only thing updated I would say is some of the OEM Drivers, everything else has been floating around the forums for months.

Will it be possible to make any true standalone Android ROM without using windows?
And for what device are this settings "RAPH800"?
Currently, no, but there is workaround - a light ROM with dualboot or directly HaRET in autorun.

In the next days i will look into dzo's script and adopt our kernel + ramadresses to get a full working nbh so that i can flash it onto my device. Hope everything goes well. This will take some serious concentration. This is what I am going to do:
Compile the kernel from scratch
Strip-out nb.os + nb.payload.os from vogue / kaiser / polaris to see what's going on
Recompile a new test-nbh to NAND-FLASH it as bootloader for Android
And last but not least: Adopt NoMoRootFS
I hope I and my device won't get stuck with this (I only have 1 device to test). If you wanna share your thoughts or contribute this then just answer to this discussion and share your ideas. I will keep you updated on this and in my free time I will also try to update the various Android builds. But I can't promise you to do so.

Keep in mind that currently us TP user's DON'T have working camera (working on), and faster power drain (working on.) so if you end up using this rom (when it's done and released in time) you will have a phone that drain's faster then WM (meter usage is PRETTY accurate though itself.), and no camera anymore (until they finish adding support, and THEN add to this guy's kernal for the said ROM.), just so you know this
Currently, dual booting works just fine, and haven't experienced any negative's to date since using it this way. Hope that helps.
Ok. Tnx for the answers.
But can someone explain to me why it is so difficult to make working ROM for TP when the HTC Hero have the same hardware and powered up with Android? I am confused about that.
For what phone are startup settings (RAPH800)?
How much it will be faster with ROM flashed in nand memory than one run by heret in WM?
Tnx

Uhm the Hero comes with Android 'from the factory' - it's a native Android device. Just like WinMo is native to our devices...
The brilliant devs are literally trying to reverse engineer drivers so Linux/Android can run on our WinMo phones.
I forgot to answer your other questions... NAND should give some performance boost, but I don't know how much. Probably not much, it didn't do much for the RHOD - albeit a little.
Phone startup settings, you should have a STARTUPS folder and it should have the RAPH800 startup in there...
Edit: (removed post, question was already answered)
Cant wait for nand support , i loved it on my Kaiser
Theoretical question: Will installation to NAND and starting directly from bootloader affect performance positively?

In theory yes, but so far the benefits have been minor, if any. Of course the NAND that is functional for the TP2 isn't technically a full NAND, so it's probably not the best example to use.

I'm not sure how to answer your question. Babijoee's builds have a STARTUPS folder, do you not have this?
