looks pretty friggin good to me man. Is there a .cab file you can put together for this?
Putting the final touches on it as we speak
OrganicM said:
I was able to get the TestUIPlugin to work and update in realtime. I used mortscript to get values from "weather watcher mobile", which is free. Currently, you run the script, it loads weather watcher, copies over the forecast data, updates the registry entries for testuiplugin, updates the plugin, and closes weather watcher in the background. It's not very elegant right now, because it uses mortscript. Maybe someone can write a standalone exe based on my work.
Here's what it looks like right now. Any ideas to improve the layout ?

I was wondering the same thing as Pudge. It may not look exactly like you've mapped it out in your head...but it looks pretty darn good to me. A .cab would be great, Organic.

One question... This won't somehow change our home layout to the CHome Slim, will it? I like my festively plump slider panels the way they are! lol I just want the weather .cab.

Haha! fesitvely flump? I thought i was the only one who used that term!
Hahaha Actually it WILL, because I wrote this for myself. Buuuuuut, I will make an original version as well
Hey OrganicM, It looks sick but if i could suggest something, then it would be the title, instead of making the "temperature" the title, why not make it My Weather or something along those lines and underneath it - you could make a line for the temperature, upto u - otherwise it looks amazing - Keep up the good work and post a .cab when ur done
Good Luck !
I know, that's what I wanted to do initially, but this damn TestUIPlugin, will NOT let me do two lines of text!! Only thing I could do, is append the current temperature at the end of the forecast blurb... But it wouldn't really make it stand out.

About implementing it to any panels, slim or not...
Hi OrganicM!
Nice job you done with this app.
I took a look at your cab _setup.xml and I was wondering what needs to be changed to the Chome_320x240.cpr for the app to work, since I prefer my chubby panels and its icons and overall layout (just a matter of taste, you know).
Perhaps you could post a little step by step guide for the ones like me who want to implement it by hand, with the needed files in a single compressed file (zip, rar, your choice really, I've already got them from the cab ).
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought he intended to post the .cab for the "chubby panels" soon anyway. I am on the same page with you, Cassiano. I like my plump panels, but I'd like to install Organic's .cab too. I don't necessarily wanna change anything in my homescreen layout--aside from including the new weather panel.

Disregard my previous posts! I see you've laid everything out in the 1st post. Thanks man.
Is anyone else have trouble updating the city? I'm trying to get Seattle on here, but it won't find it by name, and if using the zip is keeps showing sunny Las Vagas... That sucks, mainly 'cause it nice there and not here... Thanks.
This thing is awesome. Just what I needed. However, is there a way to remove the photo and media pannel? I tried to edit the XML file but it doesn't change. Any ideas?
Thanks..
Just set the plugins as "disabled" right in the registry.
Updated first post again, this time I added a "last updated" time in the top right corner. This gets updated everytime the weather script runs, so you have an idea how recent the info is.
Alright...for some reason it won't allow my city to be displayed when setting up Weather Watcher. It'll take me to a blank IE screen. I made the change to my city in 'Options', like instructed. Then tried to open 'Update Weather'. It would take me back to the blank IE screen. On the homescreen--the weather sliding panel is blank and just has a sun in it. Is there something I'm not doing?

Skinning of Android

Hi folks
I am thinking about skinning the Android, and I am starting to understand how to do it as we speak
I have discovered the correct files, and the only problem I am having at the moment, is lack of creativity >.<
Does anyone have bright ideas on how it should be?
Best regards,
Zappza
Quite like the original skin with Android. The 3 screens allows me to add anycuts to the apps grouped by personal stuff, daily apps and then browser/net stuff.
Skin ideas
Look for the thread that talks about the G2... some interesting pictures there.

Basically the only things I can to currently to get it to look a like the mockups, is to change the icons to be more shiny.
That could work out
Will try to get some work done next week, I have lots of homework at the moment >.<

Think I'll pass on this one.
I don't like the design on the X360 dash.
Perhaps the Wii though, I'll have to check it out when I get my Wii
I think it would be cool to have three tabs at the bottom for file shortcuts.
That way instead of having to put custom folders on the desktop one could just swipe up one of the three tabs.
Granted you can store many shortcuts on the side desktop screens. But, I like the swipe motion from the bottom better.
Also, I would love to see some different color themes. Maybe reverse the black/white of the window shade and made the app slider a darker grey.
What about making the icons transparent; like the blackberry storm.
please dont copy the iphone or xbox or whatever..i mean the color schemes are alright
but just make something pure eyecandy please..show us your creativity!!!

I haven't read so much in the Android Documentation yet, but my logic senses that this is some pretty heavy modding of both the graphics and the .xml files that control how things are setup.

Transparent icons when inactive, and if pressed they become opaque.

Yeah, I like black but I prefer dull black, especially since I have the Black G1 ^^
Some Photoshop help would've been great
A starter could've been just to make the standard android a lot darker, just to familiarise with how we can edit the settings
Will start on Tuesday probably, my girlfriend is visiting me from Norway, so I'll probably have other stuff to do this weekend
What's the news on this?
And would this require root? =/
Currently nothing yet, but I will hopefully get started tomorrow
This will require root yes, as the only way I know of is to replace the files in question in the modified RC8 or RC30 image from JesusFreke.

IDEA: background all tabs application???

I finally figured out how to change all the backgrounds of all the tabs, but i'm very gentle and understating that the whole process is rather complicated.... Is there no genius/dev that can make an application to change the background picture of all the tabs? Someting like the app of HTC on the setting tab, that you select a picture and it applies to all the tabs.
Just my 2 cents....after a long struggle with the backgrounds......sigh....
i'm even willing to donate if the app turns out good and user friendly!!!
I would like it too.
For example an extra option in Diamond TF3D Configurator or even a new HD TF3D Configurator with a background for alll tabs would be great.
Because i have not figured it out yet.
This is what i got with my try
Hi guys, the search button does not bite.
But I do not want to be. -> [SOLVED] background for all tabs etc.
reading is also an art.......
i believed i already told this, but here we go again:
i already managed the background for all tabs, but there are a lot of things you need to do to make it work, what i was suggesting is that someone smart makes an application that relieves the user of all the manual labor and automates the process.
i guess not a lot of people think this idea is good or even possible.......
The idea is great ! But, i've seen some tutorials to do it... i don't think it's possible to make a PPC app.
We need a Desktop PC app to open manila files, resize background image, resize canvas, save image as manila image, open with another program, do some stuff with hexa decimal data...
Bumping this thread.
I've seen the other one about configuring your own Background Tab, but it seems like too much Ball Ache.
Would be ideal if it were automated through an App.
Any genius developers out there ?
Would be superb if someone could make a app for this!
It could be done, but thats not the one you do in an afternoon. Too many people using too many dirty mods, and taking all that into account, its a bonebreaking job cause you have to take care of that or people will complain. I gave that a thought, but came to the conclusion i'll postpone that.

IMHO that should've been included in TF3D on the first place. HTC included the option for the main page, can't figure out why they didn't make it change all the tabs in the first place.
Seems like this IDEA is already being implemented.

It must be really frustrating for the devs that create these apps/CABs that people dont spend a little time reading/searching.
If you did, you would see that it is as simple as setting your background wallpaper.

[Mango app] Connectivity Shortcuts

I have seen many of you guys demanding a way to pin certain connectivity settings like WLAN or bluetooth to your homescreen. Well, take a look at a recent WP Central article. I tried the app and it really works very well.
This is nice! Thanks!
Actually, on Mango I had installed from homebrew individual "applications" for each of these functions. With ConnectivityShortcuts app I removed my old shortcuts from the apps list and only have one that will handle all.
Man, those are some ugly icons. I think I'm gonna have to change them...
Anyway, nice to have this finally available.

They're hideous. But thank god for this app until MS build something better. I like the drop down on the touchpad.
The dev will change them - look over there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17376375
I couldn't wait so I just modified them on my own... haha... much better now... better icons and use of accent colors.
Much thanks to the original developer for all the main work.
Nice application, but for those who are interested in how it was made - ConnectionSettingsTask is the answer (h ttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.phone.tasks.connectionsettingstask%28v=vs.92%29.aspx).

Preview the New XDA 2015 Forum Template!

We've been hard at work on a complete redesign of the XDA Forums and Portal. We wanted to build something that was clean, modern, fast, and that could manage to include a lot of useful functionality without feeling cluttered. While we're not finished with the new forum template, which we're calling "XDA 2015", we're close enough that XDA members that want to can use the new template and help us find bugs and other issues before we make it the default template for all users. :good: :good:
To see the new forum template click this link. You can always go back to the previous 2013 template (or any of our styles) with the style-picker in the bottom left corner of all forum pages.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be making many more changes to XDA 2015 to improve performance, readability, and functionality. We also have a few surprises coming that aren't ready just yet. :highfive:
This beta is only for the desktop version of the site, as the mobile template is not yet ready for testing. Please mention any bugs you find or requests you have in this thread.
Thanks really much but I can't see any area for participated?

Can use all browsers myself, but some corporate types might be stuck with IE.
Just a quick one (And this may be me as a noob to the new theme) but how can I tell which sub forums have unread messages in and which don't.
Here is an example of what I see when looking at the Z1 device subforum
http://prntscr.com/4jts0m
Some of those threads (Like accessories) have no unread threads in them but some do (Like general) but they look the same to me.
Once in a subforum I can tell http://prntscr.com/4jtsj8 (Arrows show read and unread thread)
Hope this helps

Blue is the default chrome highlight color. I don't think we're going to override that for other drop downs because it adds more code to the page. We styled the critical areas (like the header and some post areas).

Sorry should have thought about that, Win 7 pro and IE 9 - (Business laptop and v10 and 11 are blocked from installing still - some dodgy internal issues.)
Home desktop runs 11 and that looks really awesome - so perhaps it's not something to be too concerned about!!!
Note: 'Control Panel' button was my favorite 'Home' button for xda - Is it gone permanently? I hope not!!
LOVE the size limit and scroll bars for signatures. +++++ 1000

Control panel has been renamed to Settings.
IE9 does not display a lot of styles correctly - did some website stuff myself a couple of months back on my personal site and the amount of hacks needed to support IE9 fully is unreal (especially with HTML5 and CSS3).
Some more questions/remarks:
The portal doesn't appear to have changed for me. Not sure if this is normal, but the OP mentions the portal as well.
Could some of the older icons also be redesigned (e.g.
, thread icons, smileys…)? Might be just me, but they don't look consistent with the rest of the design.
Some icons don't use a transparent background (e.g.
). This is only noticeable when the post gets highlighted, so it's pretty minor.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php -> no sidebar, but the sidebar's space is reserved.
The spacing between the top bar (breadcrumbs) and the thread/post/group/profile is a bit off (screenshot — see red bar for spacing difference).
