Hi there, been a lurker for a while but since i eventually purchased a touch i thought id register, so bear with me im a real newbie to windows mobile having been a nokia fanatic for years.
Now to my problem, i recently downloaded tomtom 7.915.9196 QVGA black from a site after finding out it was the best one for my touch hd.
However when i try to install it, it installs directly to the phone without the option to install to memory card like other apps do.
I really want to just install it on the memory card while i explore the phone more, does anyone know how i can do this.
Your help would be much appreciated.
hoi matty
you can not install tomtom on your memory card.you have to put the maps in your memory card.

Hi there folks, being a newbie I am sure that I will get some abuse but nevertheless here goes.....
1) What is it with all of this ROM upgrading I keep reading about? I realise there are different versions but does it really make that much of a difference? If so, what version is the most up to date?
2) Does anyone know anything about TomTom? I have been given version 5 (Navigator I think), how does this differ from Mobile 5 version & why does my version not start up automatically when I insert the SD card into my PDA?
If any peeps can give me a bit of an insight in to these queries, I would be most grateful.
By the way this site is really cool, shame I have only just found it, time to catch up........

Firkin, if your sd card has a directory called "2577" and it contains the correct files then it should start automatically.
!) ROM upgrading .... its basicly all about fixing BUGS, improving performance etc ...etc... same as with a computer, your better off with newer files/programs than older ones (Well most of the time anyway)
Im an XDA 2i user and right now we are all screaming for a new ROM as there are a few problems with the current one.
2)TomTom 5 is one of, if not the best GPS road navigation systems about and will be similar for the Mobile version but i would think a little better.
I didnt know you could start a program up from just inserting the SD card but i might just look into that now lol.
Its ot really normal for a program to start up when you insert the SD card otherwise it might be slightly annoying, well i think so anyway.
Thanks for the info peeps.
As for the SD card/ Tom Tom application, just to clarify, the program doesn't start each time you pop the card in. What it actually does is install the program into your PDA device instead of you having to install the program via your PC & then activating it through your USB/serial link.
Thanks again & keep up the good work!
It seems after reading many posts about upgrading ROM's etc that it is a complete waste of time, as soon as you install the upgrade the users have a load of problems, with devices crashing/freezing/ bluetooth not working etc.... so what is the point. Surely you are better off with your original installation software than some unofficial upgrade meant for some other device.
If it ain't broke then don't fix it!!!
My tomtom card when inseted first time installs the program, each insert following this launches tomtom 5.
Hi,
Could anybody provide help for me? My P3300 doesn't seem to be able to install any programs / games anymore?!? What to do, has anybody had the same experience?
Once I install a program from my desktop PC to the P3300 or when I copy the CAB-file straight to the P3300, I get the standard installation screen: "choose a location.....Device, Storage Card or Bluetooth...blablabla"
But when I tap either one, let's say Storage Card, the thing is loading and a 2 seconds later I get the same screen, but with the message: "pocketxpdf.sf.net pocketxpdf cannot be installed. To try installing again to a different location, choose a location: Device, Storagecard or Bluetooth."
How is this possible all of a sudden? Never had problems...there is enough storage space, I've never updated the ROM, just a soft-reset doesn't work either. I don't want to do a hard-reset yet until I know a way to export my Contacts so I don't have to bring them in manually again after a possible hard-reset. (since i cannot install the program EasyHelper anymore...)
Anyone have any clue, what could be wrong?

Had you checked the Artemis Wiki pages you could have found a possible answer. There has been an official patch released by HTC for SD cards getting corrupted. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Problems
FIXED!
Sorry mate, but my problem had nothing to do with SD-Card bugs.
I already fixed my problem, see:

But thanks for your reply.

Hi All,
Anyone know how to install Tomtom Navigator on Storage card?
Similar question applies to other CABs I have I would like to know for those which do not offer choice of destination installation, how to install either alter tha cab to give the choice or other solution?
Please can you help?
I asked similar question earlier but only answer I had was to use WINCE CAB Manager which I don't know how to change...
Thanks
Whenever I install Navigator it gives me the choice of storage card or device. Do you not get those choices? And it still installs a lot of files to the device even though I chose storage card, I think it's unavoidable.
Can you send me a link of TomTom Navigation software so I would discover out and tell you ?
The way I did it was to install TomTom onto the devices internal memory as normal then move the program files directory etc over. Point the shortcuts into the correct exe location and it all works perfectly fine. Even after flashing the device several times since I'm as yet to reinstall it as I don't need to!
Hi Everyone,
I have Xda Orbit by O2 bought in 2007, used it for only few months and since then it's been sat there in the box, have just started using it again and needed to put a bigger card (I have never used any memory card in it, and it dosn't even detect my SanDisk 4gb SDHC), now after all the search, it says i'd have to put a newer version of windows mobile in it, mine one is on WM5.
O2's website won't provide me with an update as they only have new XDA's listed on their website. upon my research i have found out on this forum that by putting this file called "SDHC-Artemis.cab" would make SDHC 4gb up and running, now the question is will this .cab file work on WM5? Where from i get it and how do i install it?
Plus any suggestions on how can i upgrade my WM5 to WM6 as i don't have any genuine copy of it, are the ones available around some cracked versions or something?
Many thanks in advance!!!
did u get your phone from the UK??
try this thread....I just flashed it today, works perfectly!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455130
You may want to upgrade the radio rom to 3.34.90
...and I have no idea about the SDHC issue.
Thanks Klee, Yes i bought the phone from UK around Jan, 2007. Just called O2people but they said they can't do anything, which was very bad, and we can't even go to the manufacturer.
Sony Erricsson provides 3 years manufacturer's warranty even after your service provider stops.
well, have you tried putting in any bigger memory card after you have put WM6 in your phone?
which installation process did you follow, any tips? shall i use AutoSync which came with the phone originally?
Many Thanks for your help, Much Appreciated!!!!
by the way Would i have to Crack this windows or is it ready to go or something?
Basically first install activesync, run activesync and connect your phone to the computer
wait until your phone finishes syncing and all that, double click the exe file you downloaded in the thread I gave you earlier.... follow the instructions, after ~10 minutes, a working wm6 phone!
This is the official upgrade, so there is no need to unlock the phone first.
about the sdhc issue....I've never tried anything over 1GB, as I don't have the need for a bigger card, so I've no idea. I believe there is an SDHC cab somewhere floating around here, try searching for it
Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot mate,
this surely and definitely is helpful, i have downloaded the file, but haven't put it on the phone yet, as i don't have any spare phone for "just in case".
once i get a cheap standby phone i'll install it, very much looking forward to it.
and yes, i have thoroughly searched about the SDHC issue, and there is a patch available which i'll run once i have got WM6 sorted!
Kind Regards!!

Hi klee,
I have managed to put the newer version of windows you suggested onto my phone, and it seems to work fine, have got my 4gb MicroSD card working too, by the help of above .Cab file i mentioned. can't manage to stream videos despite of trying several different utilities, i have installed .Net framework as well but still can't run the Cab files, any suggestions?
Best Regards,

My husband bought the HTC touch HD that has had windows 6.5 put on it, I did a reset and now the copilot software has disapeared can anyone tell me how to get it from somewhere please, I don't want him to know I have messed about with the phone, the copilot was already on the HD when he bought it I can't find it anywhere, thank you for any help...
Anybody ????
The copilot cab (copilot.wmppc.cab) should be on the phone's storage card in a folder called "2577". Run the cab to re-install Copilot
Have you deleted any other applications? He might know you have been 'messing' anyway unless you just deleted the CoPilot executable.

Most of the apps like copilot reside on the memory card (if the phone has one), try removing the memory card and reinsert it back, it might keep off the auto install that will reinstall copilot on the phone.
If none of the above helps, try re-installing the whole software.
There are some sites "that do not exist", and have a download links for every navigation software out there. PM for the link, and more help.
