I really really want to install a 6.5 rom but I wonder since they're still beta, will they expire after a certain date just like most beta software does aswell???

Some of the vanilla builds have timebombs, but most chefs patch the shell to disable it.

Although I have absolutely 0 experience in the WinMo world, I am sure vanilla means stock for eg. nothing or very little changed from original MS or provider ROM.
The world vanilla is used because vanilla is usually regarded as plain.
Here's a nice brain image example.
Picture Ice cream...
Vanilla is usually regarded as plain
Strawberry is usually regarded as unplain.

If this forum keeps pumping those roms at this rate I dont care if HTC can get their stuff together. HTC looks prety useless compared to ppl posting cooked roms here.

You don't understand subject of this threat, do you?
Its great people are cooking these roms and sharing them.
But, I just want a plain and simple official rom and install couple of progs I use myself..
Try the vanilla rom, its as close to official as you can get. I love official roms, there clean and stable but meschels vanilla rom is just as good. He doesnt mess, doesnt force his own tweaks on you, lets you do it.
Ive tried the B&B v5 rom but its over loaded with customizations and it runs way slow, compared to the official T-MObile wm6 rom. Vanilla is hella fast. Very smooth and optimized.

ARTEMIS VANILLA 4.01 WWE ROM - WM6.1 Final 5.2.19199 (SDHC)
For me this one is better than the any official rom.
Cheers.
The vanilla rom is also only realeased when it properly works!

Try Atermis Vanila Rom
It is plain and fast.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on an offical HTC WM6.1 update considering how long it took them to release WM6.
I'd guess that might have been down to SDHC licensing issues
AFAIK HTC have not released rom with sdhc support or have they?
So any rom they release are inferior to Marks new Vanilla rom.
What is the most stable rom and best rom out there for the hermes? 6.0 and 6.1 however i'm looking to flash to 6.1 since it's the newest but i want a really good and fast one. So any suggestions?

I use shadow and it's stable .. with 6.1 the only annoyance IMO is the threaded sms . as of now, if you disable it with the registry hack then you loose the audio and visual notification of new sms messages

I use Shadow 2 TE most stable fast and works as intended.
Are there any anticipated or soon-to-come known roms by known cookers? I would flash to tht shadow one but i don't want a better one to come out and have to flash several times.
Faria said he waits to be given a go by his source to release his WM6.1 ROM. He is quite a legend among cooks here - so probably this one and final Schap's 4.40.
I hear schaps is a very good cooker, any idea on when his rom will come out? I'll probably upgrade to his or dutty.
I really like Matt's Pandora Naked base roms. I install the stuff I like and everything works great. Good Luck

Hi,
would anyone care to build a 6.5.3 ROM with Sense 2.5, WWE? I only found an ITA release, and it appears to be in early beta as well...
Only addititon I'd like is the Tachi dialer and ConnectionSetup (of course in addition to what's included in Sense2.5). I don't care much about any other extra packages or software built into the ROM!
Would this be possible?

It's 6.5, not 6.5.3 - at least not yet And I don't want a resembled stock ROM, since they are stuffed with unnecessary software and packages, which leads to low program storage available. But thanks for the effort!
Unfortunatelly, a ROM that packages Sense 2.5 will never be a light ROM..
The best ROM with Win6.5 for me still DonSalari's Sense 2.1...

Thanks for the answer, but that's not entirely true. There are some pretty light versions including Sense 2.5. Although it will never be as light as 2.1, of course. But I really want the Sense2.5 calendar I'm on Sun-Y WM6.1 Sense2.5 now, but WM6.5.3 is really tempting!

The 'MIUI browser' available to download is a clone of the actual MIUI browser and is therefore compiled for various screen sizes. The MIUI interface is made for high resolution devices so would take a lot of porting!
How about some limited porting?
that could be done decompiling (and editing) a few .apks I suppose (I am no programmer)
The MIUI launcher, the pull down menu (with all the switches there) and the settings with tabs are kind of the main MIUI core.
I've been looking for the MIUI source and can't find it
I don't think the devs are going to release it anytime soon.

yes you can (i only had a cdma vogue so if you used Not So Super Froyo you used a vogue ROM)
as far as MIUI's source its never been released, the team that makes it likes keeping the source closed for some reason. Also porting it is going to be a lot more difficult than you think, even the hero wasn't able to get a working version mostly because it is designed for ARM7 processors in it's current form and without source it would be really unlikely to get to boot.

Without the sources... and MIUI tie to ARM7... we might be on a bit of a problem.
I won't say impossible, but unlikely...
Still, it would be awesome
Hello I am looking for a stable ROM with ICS or any android 4.0+ version because I need a T9 dialer in hebrew which is built in any android 4.0+ version.
And why do I need it stable?
well... the phone is going to be belong to my sister and I am going to have the HOX+(maybe not quite sure yet) and she is not going to play with ROMs flash them during the night and look for the best for her and update the ROM every week so thats why I need it stable...
and guys dont worry our HTC is kind of old but still good but my sister is walking around with Samsung 514!!!
I really want her to be impressed with android (although it does not matter what UI he have as long its not AOKP because i didnt love it )
thank you for you help time, thinking and for reading this despite my bad english(i can wait 2 weeks tops)'
ho one last thing i know there are 3rd party apps at the store the provide the T9 dialer but its still 3rd party abit laggy and slow
Stable 4.0+ ha you must be new here.

All ICS+ ROMs are in a alpha / beta stage for the Desire... they can never be as stable as you would like them to be because of inherent device driver and resource limitations in our phone. Having said that, I use Sandvold http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355660. It is a decent daily driver for me, but has a major bug once in a while. You would need to debug for your sister on such occasions.

You are contradicting yourself. Stop recommending something as stable when it's clearly not.
People will never learn there are no but's when something is stable.

Hmmm.. you may be right...
Then again, its software... I have never used software that has never crashed or not had bugs.
PS: I edited my earlier post to remove the word stable
what about the miui he is in beta level but he is there because it gets updated almost every week can any one recommend on that?
and do you guys think that even in 2 weeks no stable roms will appear?

OK, there's the thing. If you are looking for a stable ics+ or ics+ with sense, your out of luck. The htc desire will not be able to support it with help from htc's own engineers/developers. However, if you are willing to use a fairly buggy rom, just pick any and see how you like it. In short, stop asking and just do it. Enjoy flashing.

If you want her to be impressed with Android, don't flash any ICS/JB as they are filled with various problems that noobs keep on making threads about them. You don't want your sister to have that impression that Android is a crappy OS don't you?
Stable? Go with AOSP CyanogenMod7 or Oxygen roms or at least anything that is based on those roms. Yeah it's Gingerbread but it's a fully working OS. They aren't eye candy but you'll have little to no complaints coming from your sister about this or that not working.
