I'm new to the forum. I have just bought a XDA Orbit and I need some advice.
When I use bluetooth to beam a file from my PC to my XDA, where does the file go ? file path ?
When using File Explorer, it seeme to take a lifetime to move between folders, is this down to the App or the XDA ?
When you unzip and copy files to the SD card, do they need to go a particular location ? There does not seem to be a utility for format the SD card.
What do you use to edit the registry ?
I have tried to search the forum for answers, but I've been unsucessful
Thanks in advance for the help
UPO.
Beamed files go to the my documents folders, and phm registry editor is one of the best out there for the pocket pc, do a google search for it. Also, total commander is a great file explorer which also has a registry editor, but thats for the advanced user.

Thanks for the advice.

Thank u a lot
I copied a program in .exe extension to Device\Windows\Start menu\Programs
Now I want to delete that program. But I can't see it in that folder. I tried to use Resco Explorer and Windows Explorer to find it, but nothing works.
Can anybody help me?
PS: sorry for my bad English
In Resco File Explorer, go to "Options", then "General", then "Browser" tab. Uncheck everything there and see if you can see the file you're looking for.

Hey guys, does anyone know if there is an app for the android phones where i can access my shared folders from my windows desktop ??? (the folders which are shared using the right click method in windows xp pro specific)
i can make them accessible through ftp but i use sharing with my laptop and i want to use it with my phone if possible!!!
Estrongs file explorer does windows shares/ftp/bluetooth browsing and streaming. Its free
hmm nice one, i found it on cyrket but it seems that avi files cannot be opened yet but good one...i won't be watching movies over my pc any way cause of the slow connection. thanks vman81
Are you asking for the ability not only to share the files but to stream media files from device to PC?
I love Dropbox! Super easy and you can access your files from your Android device or ANY computer.
Ehm, EStrong File Explorer is very interesting ... Anyone is using it?

If yes, do you think that we still need to have ASTRO? Because I read ASTRO is a very good file manager and app manager, but it does not support this kind of network access (browsing shared folder).
And I dont like to keep 2 similar apps, if you know what I meant.
Thanks

I think ASTRO is mostly for doing stuff like installing apps you have downloaded on your computer, though I dunno whether the other mentioned file explorers give you the possibility to do that as well.

In the other hand, you can just install an other application manager if you don't want 2 file managers

It's a file browser, they're not really going to be that different. So the answer is no, if you want to use the EStrong one you wont need to have Astro installed too.
Try AndroXplorer v.3!
Which is the best File explorer for unrooted Desire HD.
I tried ES File explorer, but it is very slow. I like ES as it has built-in FTP client.
Any suggestions ? Fast and ftp. Fast is priority. And which ftp client if file explorer doesn't have it ?
Thanks, Regards, Ales
Ghost Commander (a Total Commander clone)!
I use ASTRO, seems really fast but I have no idea if it does ftp, there are plunging available so if you havnt already given it a go take a look.
If it does do ftp let me know ;]
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
use this version, it has root acces, no need to clockworkmod
Try Linda, its what I use.
im using File Expert, its got all thinkable features you can ask for an unrooted phone, http wifi file transfer, ftp over wifi to mention a couple i use a lot myself to keep me from constantly connecting with a cable.
Astro is also a good one if you dont like File Expert
Thanks for your answers. I will try some of them. Regards, Ales
