REQ: Contacts App - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Looking for an Contact application.
I have a large amound of contacts now. Around 300+. Looking for the following features.
1: Autoload with screen keyboard. like dialer. alpha numeric
2: number and name filter. Like dialer. Optional
3: single tap to select the contact
4: 4 buttons at top/bottom to fire a task. Phone, SMS, email, edit.
Thats it.
Quick and easy.
Actually if someone wants to give me some C# source on how to pull contacts data out then I might whip it up. Just need to find the following
-How to pull contacts.
-How to initiate calls. sms, email, edit functions.
Other ideas?

Multiple Contact Lists

Is there a way to setup multiple contacts lists? I would like to have 1 list for friends and a separate list for business rather than having a single list of all of my contacts.
Thanks in advance.
Edit your contacts and give them a category. Edit them by scrolling to the bottom and press "Others" (translated from my Chinese version, so look for something similar). By default there's Personal, Work, Holiday, etc., and you can define more yourself.
Once you have contacts with categories, you can open the menu (right button) in contacts, and choose "Filter".
Thanks. That works. Is there a way to set a default filter? The filter always goes away when I leave my contacts page and return.
I have no idea about how to make the filter stick... I doubt it's recorded in the registry at all.
It might work if you keep the Contacts running... i.e. by switching tasks, or by adding it to the registry so that it is not closed when you press "X".

Touch flow 3-d email preview question

Is there a to have messages count as "read" (i.e. decrement the messages waiting counter) when using the touchflo preview screen. You can scan through messiges when thery are still in the envelope this doesn't change the new message counter, you actually have to open the message to reset the counter. I'd like to have messages count as read when I flip through them in their envelope rather than having to open spam messages that I dont want to read.
That would be nice. Or be able to delete from the mail tab. Right now, so I don't have to open spam, I hit inbox and then hold down on the message until I get the delete option (if it is at top of inbox, you can just hit delete softkey). Anybody else have a better way or an idea for a hack like mentioned?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379265 you can put "mark all as read' with this .cab
Edit: noticed you said flip through them :/ i would like to do that also
Yes. I like that cab as well, but it would be cool to have more functionality from the mail tab, without having to open inbox. Right now when you hit menu, you have 3 options (New Mail, Accounts, Send/Receive). It would be awesome to get Delete, Mark As Read, Reply, Forward, etc.

"All people" button

First of all I am using manila 2.5. When you slide to contacts a button appears saying "all people". When clicking on this button you abviously open the contacts manager, but it is the old (or windows) manager. The new contacts manager however is not only nicer, but gives you all the options back to send mails from a contact card even if you have installed the SMS patch. Because of the SMS patch you don't have this option any more in the old contacts manager.
My question now is how can I make sure that the "all people" button opens the new contacts manager?
Thanks in advance

What SMS patch are you using? I used this one here, and it did not affect my contacts list. Make sure you follow all 4 of the manual steps described in that post (not just step 3). If you tried something else, then uninstall it, soft-reset and try my link.

Hi Chris,
I am using this patch and BTW the cab file 1.2 does everything what the manual settings do, but you can't click in a contact card to send a SMS, mails work, not SMS. I have discuseed this already with the author and he knows that it doesn't work.
Anyway, this is not a solution for my qustion. The new manila 2.5.1920xx has a great new contacts manager and I want to use it everywhere I can, because it is not affected by zenyee's SMS patch, it looks nicer. But apaart from making a shortcut I don't see how I can use it as a softkey in in the home screen or in the contacts (people) tab.

I'm confused about what you wrote (the bold part I highlighted). What do you mean it is "not" affected? I thought you said it is affected - i.e. the "send message" part of a contact card doesn't work. Am I just totally misunderstanding you?
In any case, you can change the left softkey in the home tab to open the Manila contacts list instead of it bringing up the phone pad. All it is is registry entries that need to be changed. But, if you have the sms patch installed, I assume you'll continue to have the same problem.
Let me know if you want to change the left softkey in the home tab anyway. I made a cab for it so that I wouldn't have to manually make all the changes every time I hard reset my phone to factory defaults.
EDIT:
Here is the cab that will make those registry changes for you.
This is the ALL PEOPLE Reg Value, restore it using any Registry editor

Let me explain what I mean using the two screen shots: one from the classic contacts manager, the other from the HTC contacts manager. If you apply the SMS patch and open a contact and click on "send message", nothing will happen. If you use the other contacts manager, you can open a contact and click on send message and it will open the windows messaging service.
Look at the answer from zenkinz, see [Tweak/App] Disabling HTC Messaging in manila 2.5 (version 1.2 Updated on 29th Sep), page 17
zenkinz said:
yes the send message from the contact will not work. It's due to a service I've disabled, and if I don't disable it, you'll not be able to send the SMS from the winmo app, so it's a catch 22 situation. I'm trying to work on a fix for that, but it's going to be tough.

Now what I was looking for is to replace the contacts manager in the contacts (people) tab. If you click now on "all people" it will open the "old" windows contacts manager, I would like that the new and better (and nicer) contacts manager would be opened.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion, but I don't want to replace the left soft key on the home screen.

Okay, so you want to keep the sms patch installed, but you want the "all people" softkey in the contacts tab to open the new Manila contacts list? And how do you then plan to open the WM contact list so that you can use the "send message" option in a contact? Do you plan on having a home tab quick link to WM contacts? I guess that would work.
I don't know where the settings are to the left softkey of the contacts tab and I don't know if that particular option is available in the registry just like it is for the home tab softkeys. I also looked into adding a quick link in the home tab, but I can't get it to open the manila contacts (only the WM contacts).
Sooo.... I think I'm out of ideas. Maybe you'll consider changing the left softkey in the home tab as you mentioned at the end of your second post (that's why I mentioned it as an option in the first place ). I don't know what you currently have set for that, but if it is still the "phone" then you can always access that by using a hardware key on the HD. Or maybe you have something in that softkey that you can place in a quick link instead.

Aside from Copy and Paste and Multitasking, what else is missing?

Aside from those 2 things, what else is missing from WP7? And what in your opinion should be put in future updates? And do you think those things you want will make it?
Finally what do you think of WP7 as a whole compared to Android and iOS? (specifically Android since thats what I know the most)
Thanks in Advance.
Tethering, and using the phone as a Mass Storage device are also missing, a file explorer...even if its just to manage files we download from the web or something, and tethering was somewhat confirmed by microsoft but i dont know the likelihood of mass storage id like it to come in the future but who knows...
yeah I want the mass storage so badly
of course we can make it with some changes in Registry but I think WP7 should make it enable in the next update
Sync multiple but not only the main calendar of an account
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Tethering works on my wife's Focus & on my LG Quantum, but you need to unlock it yourself using the phone manufacturer's diagnostics menus.
But what I'm really missing is the ability to do real socket programming, so you could do stuff like rdp, true streaming media players, etc...
"living in the cloud" is flawed when you can't use socket programming for true network access ( what the "cloud" is all about )
Probably more exchange features.
OPEN API.......... you should see the different in between android and wp7 barcode or QR scanning.... wait for one year else will change to android....

IMO:
- Zune easy sync of all supported files: adding all the office files
- Bluetooth send/receive at least for supported files
- Email - ability to add WHATEVER I want to attachement, so also docs, videos etc. IfI want to send 3 docs I have to send 3 emails, this is ridiculous
- App for easy download/upload with SkyDrive lol, like Photobucket
- Internet tethering
- Copy and paste absolutely system wide!
- Universal device search
- Navi arrows on keyboard
- Absolutely more features in Word, which is nice to have but is ridiculously limited to a crazy level.

This has to be one of the best 'wish' lists I've seen on here, it wasn't filled with idiocy, hate, or pure ignorance and definitely reflected the direction Microsoft is trying to take, I applaud you for that... Especially with the "supported files" addition... One of the few posts that doesn't revolve around "I can't access any file, registry edit, or system entry to screw up my device so this sucks!"...
I agree with this list, I'd also add more integration features into the People Hub

Adding to this excellent wish list
- Custom Ringtones
- A smart dialer (Like Dialer one from Android)
- GPS navigation
- Threaded email messaging
duplicate post
how do i delete this?
universal clipboard
file explorer, with cut, copy, paste of files (is this enabled on the touchexplorer?)
smart dial
ability to DISABLE threaded sms
usb storage mode
full outlook support
1 very important function for me....
ability to import sms messages from wm6.5
- multiplayer games (local and online)
- cross platform games
- custom alert tones
- hidden SSID access
Copy and paste text.
Preview of back button stack.
Socekts.
Battery api.
Camera – movie api.
Silverlight integration with XNA.
Exposed MAC address of WIFI.
Tile tap and hold option to unintall the app.
+1 for most of the items listed prior, but would like to add:
- option to increase fonts especially text messaging.
- option to get rid of the "bubble/msg boxes" in text msg app; e.g., black background with cyan and white text
- text reflow when zooming in on web-browser and email (vs. scrolling left<->right to read text)
- phone button that takes me directly to dialer ( i know, i'm probably dreaming)
- option to tap and dial or email contact from within txt msg app and email apps (similar to Android)
- integrated inbox (with threaded messaging)
- navigation app (similar to google navigation or co-pilot)
A quick way to close all running applications.
Perhaps by holding down the back arrow for an extended period of time will bring up a notification asking you to close all the apps.
Or what if, you where to hold down back arrow as before but the notification allowed you to see all running apps and close them individually or all at once?
Possible?
I have attached some images of what it could look like.
Other ideas.
Side ways view using the accelerometers on the home screen. (2 versions attached)
Zune controls on the home screen that follow you down as you scroll. This would also be there on the app menu to the right. (attached)
One that i have just realized.
I dont think you can send music files over bluetooth.
This would be a nice addition.
...but may be to do with copyright as usual. =/

[Q] Any good way to send ALL my contact info through sms?

Is there any good app out there for sending my business card info, or just sending my contact info to someone rather than having to type it all out. I am on the go alot and I plug peoples numbers in and would love to be able to just shoot them over my selected contact info through like SMS. But doesn't seem to be anything out there to do that. I found one app, but only info it will send is Name - Number - Email. I want something that will send all the info in the contact info of my phone, including my website etc... The app I found which is very limited and I don't like is called "Share Contacts Via SMS"
Thanks
bump it up
I use Handcent for many features including this one. You can attach a contact as a vCard or plain text, and you get a checkbox next to each item to include (numbers, emails, addresses, photo). Can't believe this isn't in the stock app!
If you do this a lot and the problem is just re-typing it, you can create and save a template with this info. In the stock SMS app, go to Menu->Settings->Templates. The icon in the upper right will let you create and save a template. Then when you are in the conversation/new message screen, Menu->Insert Template, pick the one you made.
But I would also recommend checking out handcent. I don't use this feature but it's a great app that packs a lot of good stuff.

Yeah, I don't see this template option in the stock messaging app. And I don't want to use handcent. Any other suggestions
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Oh? I have a themed version of the stock app installed, though I stopped using it a while ago myself in favor of handcent. Perhaps the capability was added in by the person who themed it. I know his version of the dialer adds t9 dialing, but there's no note of added functionality on the mms link.
If you like or just don't mind the theme, the one I have is here.
