Can't access this site from desktop? - About xda-developers.com

I'm posting this from my android g1 at the moment because I can't access it from my desktop, it will just time out trying to open any xda page after about 20 seconds. I can open other websites fine on my desktop and I can open xda dev fine from me phone, and my laptop on the same connection as my desktop. It was working fine a few days ago on my desktop then suddenly stopped. Seems kind of weird, any ideas?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks, followed all those steps and still no luck with loading the page. HOSTS file was clean, reset router and modem, cleared dns cache, cleared all internet data (ran ccleaner), turned off Avira and Comodo, and I never got the site to load.
When I try and trace the connection, it says the following:
"Tracing route to www.xda-developers.com over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 destination is unreachable."
When I try this on my laptop (using the exact same connection), it lists all the times (in ms) per hop and the location etc.
I'm stumped on this one.

Got it!
Peer Guardian 2 was blocking certain websites. Unchecking "block http" does the trick.
Now it's working, damn that makes me happy, love this site.

HELP browsers not connecting in wm6.1

i've tried the connection setup wizard with wm6.1 and everything works (email, text, mms, other outside emails setups) everything except my browsers (PIE and Opera Mobile)
PLEASE HELP this is so frustrating to hear that it works like a charm but not for mine.
i get HTTP ERROR: $CODE$
from both browsers.
i've been told i'm being forced by tmobile to use the total internet 19.99 plan.
wm6.1 was working for a few days i think (i got the rom early on) but then one day i noticed i kept getting that error message (like 2 weeks ago)
Try going into the PIE connections settings and using the WORK connection
still getting same error
i tried changing all ports to 8080 per another thread i saw on here.
i enabled auto configure on the wizard. doesnt make a difference.
should i just suck it up and use the tmobile website to configure my phone? i remember it not working tho cuz i think i would have to confire ALL net access including email (which works just fine)

First off, what package you paying for? Total Internet or VPN Total Internet?
Second off, have you called T-Mobile and have them cancel location? (kick your phone off the tower to get a fresh registration).
Thirdly, If you get that error with out a Internet package (just a tzones) that indicates a network issue and they need to file a trouble ticket.
Have you also tried a master reset? before doing this I would recommend backing up all your info to the sim/storage card or perform a sync with your computer.

Tilt2 Facebook app and stocks tab only connect over WiFi

The Facebook app and stocks tab (on TouchFlo3D) on my ATT Tilt2 no longer update except via WiFi (they both update perfectly over WiFi).
The built-in Facebook app seems to login fine. But refreshing info just hourglasses endlessly. I don't think this has ever worked right.
The Stocks tab on the TouchFlo3D Today page also never updates. Just times out with a Connection Error after a minute or so. The Weather tab works fine. Stocks tab worked at one point, but no longer updates.
Is there some kind of proxy thing going on? I've previously disabled the ATT proxy in order to get the YouTube app to work (which works perfectly now). I had to edit the registry to make the change stick, per the instructions on the ATT forum by Vendetta on the following page (near bottom of page 2): http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=123280&view=by_date_ascending&page=2. Disabling the proxy using the built-in CAB worked, but the proxy would be restore after a soft reset. I've poked around the registry a bit for proxy entries which might be causing the above issues, with no luck.
Opera, IE, and everything else I can think of work fine over the wireless data connection.
I've searched around on these forums and Google, and haven't found any significant mention of a similar issue. Any ideas?
Anybody? I know there are a mess of smart people here with some ideas . . .
You could try this:
go to start-settings-connections-connections, advanced on the bottom tab then select networks. Make sure your primary data connection is selected in the first drop down box.

Everything looks in order under the Connections settings, but thanks for the tip.
Strangely, both the Facebook app and the Stocks tab spontaneously started working again today, after not working for 1-2 months. They seem to be working perfectly, and update in a couple seconds. I haven't changed a thing on the phone. So it would appear that perhaps something was happening on ATT's end.
Aghhh. The problem has returned. Again, I haven't changed anything. So something is happening on ATT's end. I've also noticed that the WeatherBug app has the same problem, only updates via WiFi.
Really annoying!
I have the opposite problem... stocks update in seconds and weather gives me "connection error while attempting to download weather data"
Any suggestions? Everything else works fine, internet, email (pushed from hotmail), etc.
Offical confused...this morning everything works fine.
Stocks tab only thru WAP
I have the same issue. Stocks tab not connecting thru wireless internet, only WAP (wireless application protocol). Have to stop current connection and reconnect using WAP setting. However, with WAP weather tab not working. Also in WAP, usual internet web pages cannot load, only web pages meant for mobile phones can load.

Error browsing the internet with GPRS

I recently bought a new HTC s620(EXCA 100) phone with Windows Mobile 5.0. I have subscribed for internet thru a local GPRS carrier, everything works fine except my internet access. Initially everytime i access a web site (using IE) it works for about 4 mins max then gives a time out. It has worsened with time now i only browse for 30 secs and it times out.
I have tried:
An alternative browser (Skyfire) and this as well times out from time to time, so i have eliminated that the browser has the fault. My common sites are m.facebook.com and mobile.yahoo.com, which are secure site, but i even get the issue with non-secure sites.
A hard reset on the phone which has proved futile in rectifying the problem.
Reconfiguring the internet settings with my GPRS provider
I have also tried my sim card in another phone, this sim card worked to browse online with no issues. Then after hooked my phone onto my PC at work and browsed via the company’s LAN, I had no problem there either.
I can only conclude that my phone has the problem.
The errors I constantly get are:
- Alert..The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later.
- Error.. Cannot connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again.
Thanx in advance… awaiting ur assistance.

You can try to update your rom to a more recent version.
Having the same problem here...
My Dash just started having the dame problem recently. And it's driving me bananas! I have tried everything EXCEPT flashing the Rom. I"m trying to not have to flash the Rom because it's always a major pain in the ass to do it...i always get the 3% error and get stuck in the loop of all the fixes, which without fail, DON'T work.
Anyway, does anyone have a work around for this that doesn't require flashing the Rom?
I had the same problem too with my Dash. What I did was go to my service provider's website and copy the settings for my phone. By default, using the Connection Setup of the Dash would configure the GPRS as it were inserted a postpaid SIM. Since I am on a prepaid service SIM, I had to manually change some of the access points (example: from www to http) as instructed by my provider's website. After that I had no problems connecting through either Internet Explorer or Opera Mini 5.

You shouldn't have any problem with flashing if you follow correctly the instructions error 270/3% while flashing

Problem with Wifi hot spot

HI all.
At my work place we have open wifi hotspot. Only thing i need to do to use it is to register on it when connecting for the 1st time, when doing it on laptop it simply pops website, where i need to enter email adress and my age, is one time operation (it records MAC adress i guess). I cant get it done with my Desire, i can see network, but it wont let me open any website, tried different browsers but no luck.
Any clues?
Thanks
Most sites with free access require you to leave the registration page open, then open a second window to browse. So open new window from menu and try that?
I cant even load 1st page, and yes tried new window, changed user agent too. No luck. Bit annoying as im working on the kitchen and could have spotify running all day long, with my 500mb worth data plan that aint an option. I went through quite few different roms alredy, started on stock desire one, now im on latest OpenDesire. My mates Nokia works just fine, web browsing, radio, youtube and so on.
Thanks

Play store connectivity error following root

So I rooted my tablet and everything is working fine, but soon after I'm getting errors with the Play store ("No connection" + retry button) and with signing into a Google account ("Can't establish reliable connection to server"). Otherwise, it's doing fine; social media, YouTube and browsing are all working at decent speeds and I'm posting from the tablet. Also, the wifi signal in the drop down menu appears orange, which to my understanding denotes limited access, but my PC doesn't return the same error.
I've tried deleting the cache and data of the play store, rebooting, switching aeroplane mode on and off, reconnecting after forgetting the network - nothing.
It was fine immediately after rooting with the Nexus Root Toolkit, but started playing up soon after I installed and launched App Ops X. Disabling that hasn't worked either.
I also changed the time zone up a bit earlier, but put it back to automatic.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: the indicator is still orange, but I managed to get the Play store and Google services up and running by adding another account.client.Google.com server to the host file in /etc, although downloads are painfully slower. Can anyone explain why this worked and it didn't before, because I already had one there with a different IP. Also, are there any faster domains for me to add? Thanks.
