New here so please be kind,
I have an O2 IRL XDA II and wish to update this to the new win version above, I did manage this but lost all conenction settings for MMS, WAP and gprs when done.
Is there some file(Cab?) that can be installed after the fresh install to give me these settings again and if so how is it run?

You must take the file from any one from your friend have a PPC phone edition that runs on win 2003 se
you need the program that opens extended rom and I think you have it , so open your extended rom by clicking on start - programs - extrom tools - unhide and unlock , after that restart your device and open your file explorer and you will see there's extended rom direcory revealed , open it and you will see extended rom installation program file there , copy it to your friend device ,install the extended rom program on his device and open his extended rom like what you did on your device ( don't click on unlock , it will show error on his device ) and you will see his files and the file setting for mobile telecommunications
companies copy the file you want on your extended rom and open your config file that inside the exteded rom directory and add list as list above ( cab ://my device/extended_rom/ (your file name.cab ) )
it will be installed after hard reset automatically

But as I gone thru this forum... I heard of WM2005 beta version is released... I have downloaded the software with Active sync 4.0 but I am hesitant to try with my new imate JAM.. is it trust worthy and can I upgrade my wM2003 SE to this new one..

The S.O.'s language is ITALIAN....well, I have understand how change it to WWE....however, I don't understand Which ROM I can use !
On the Asus's site, there are the only (newest) firmware that I have found:
V4.3.25 (ONLY for Hong Kong user) - 47mb
V4.3.25 (ONLY for Taiwan user) - 47mb
...where is an WWE rom ???
P.s.
I have also found a "P535 Phone Module Firmware V4.5.0 - 1mb"
...is for ALL LANGUAGE ???

I haven't upgraded the rom myself, but I have installed that phone firmware upgrade on an australian rom.
And no, I don't know where to get the australian rom - the shop installed it for me and refused to give me a copy.
I found:
P535_V4315_WWE_TH00.rar
and
V4315_WWE_MS00.rar
which one is the newest??

That would be 4.3.15 for the wwe version.
There's a couple of roms with 4.3.35 version but those are for taiwan and hongkong.
I've seen someone mention that the russian (RU) version has some russian rubbish that you do not want/need, so I suggest you go for the thailand (TH) or malaysia (MS) version.
I have never tried to change rom myself, so I am afraid I am unable to help you if you run into trouble. But please post your results, I want to try it at some point.

So far in this forum the ROM upgrade was academic.
Here is reality
My P535 is bricked!!
During Rom Update (following all the rules as posted) The process stopped.
It gets stuck on the start menu (Asus Screen).
The Hard reset does not work. ( Reset + Power button).
I can get to the bootloader screen (Power button + right mike(?) button+Reset)
and it just shows a screen with the waiting on.
Anyboby , can you help. Can I do hard reset another way?
It seems that ASUS offers the Rom Update if your ASUS P 535 is running and from the Mini sd card.
All the other Phone PDAs I had before (Qtek 100,s200, O2 atom, HP rw 6828. HTC (Dopod m700) P3300, HTC (Dopod D810) P3600 the bootloader did get the ROM Update file from the PC while in Activ Sync with the USB port. The bootloader in the ASUS products works differently.It does look for the usb connection but the ROM is in the miniSD. Am I doing something wrong?
Can someone point out the error of my ways?

I don't know if you did anything wrong. I also have an I-mate K-Jam (HTC Wizard) and it seems easy to recover from a failed upgrade on the wizard.
I haven't seen similar stories about the P535, so don't (yet) know a way to recover from a failed upgrade on the P535. But I will let you know if I find/read about a way to do it.
Maybe you could try contacting the author of the only "homebrew" ROM I know about - his webpage is here: http://norad.shacknet.nu/lifeforce/ and he has a feedback-form for bug reports. He is probably much more experienced with rom updates than I am, so it's worth a try.

I thought the hard reset combo was up+reset...
Maybe it only works if the OS is running - I don't know.
I had an idea:
I tried using the p525 rom tools (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284379) to extract "RomGalaxy.NB0" from GalaxyII.cap, and I managed to extract it:
C:\P525RomTool11>P525RomTool.exe -d GalaxyII.cap

Converting ... DONE, to ROMGalaxy.NB0

But - I have read that the p525 rom tools don't work on p535 roms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284379&page=7) - so I don't know if this NB0 file is useless/has the wrong checksum or whatever...
If you want you can try the rest of the procedure (I don't dare trying on my own phone):
- flash this NB0 file via the bootloader as it's described (in step 6) in the p525 thread I mentioned above:
Flash ROMGalaxy.NB0 via bootloader (copy it to SD card root, press "camera" fully, press reset).

Maybe there's another button combo you have to press on the P535 - Maybe the one you use on your P535 to get into the bootloader - I don't know, I'm just guessing.
Maybe the NB0 file needs to have another name - ROMGalaxyII.NB0? I don't know this either.
I guess this wasn't much help... Let's hope someone more experienced than me can come up with something better...
I downloaded that homebrew rom I mentioned: http://norad.shacknet.nu/lifeforce/ today.
It comes with the following install procedure:
Flashing:
1. Disable USB ActiveSync.
2. Push Off button + rec. button + nav. up + reset 5sec.
3. connect the PDA to PC
4. Start AsusUpdateROM.cmd

Which means it does not install from an SD card.
Try that one, see if it works.

I don't know if the russian rom has russian menu.
I've seen someone mention that it is mostly english with a few russian add-ons.
But I'm not sure - maybe asus russian website (if it exists) can tell you if the russian p535 has russian or english menus?

It is WWE with some russian add-on, but 99% of the ROM is in english. On the other hand, the device's extrom contains a language extender (in my case this is Hungarian), and it installs during the first booting process along with some network settings. I believe that the russian P535's has the same LENg (of course with russian language).

I would recommend you to READ the Wiki before flashing any ROM

4. Copy file ASUS.UnlockLangID.exe into miniSD Card then run this file one time (Cross language platform for ROM Upgrade)
5. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del (On PC) to start Task Manager, Then delete MS Sync Process (Wcescomm.exe) or double click on file Kill Active Sync.cmd to kill MS Sync Process.
6. Connect your P535 to PC via USB port. Press Rec+Power button (at the same time) and then Soft Reset (Press Rec+Power button util Boot Loader program startup you will see message Waiting).
7. Double Click on file AsusUpdateROM.cmd to start Upgrade ROM. Then follow up step in DOS Command Windows (press Enter 3-4 times).
8. Please wait util red message display on P535 screen then Soft Reset one time.
9. After finish Upgrade ROM process please Hard Reset again (Press Navigate button + Reset) for make sure all process was completed.

hi, I have Upgraded my i780 with i780_PBVHK1 rom (all PDA and Phone).
Now I am trying to upgrade with official updater(i780_PDXHLA2), it always give error >> incorrect version....
Anyone can help me so I can update my i780 to official updater?
Or can provide me i780_PDXHLA2 bin files (eboot, phone, pda) for mirage updater?

Hi,
First you should replace the pda part with a previous DX rom file, then the official upgrade will do its work. You can find one for example here:http://www.mediafire.com/xanadu

hi dinko,
you can start the changing by installing a full rom called "mirage PDXHH1" (wm 6.0); it's a 128 dpi, english naturally, and it isn't really very recent.
after then you can decide to install an official upgrade (wm 6.1) by using the link of samsung at http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/i780/index.jsp or by a cooked rom. in this second way you must have XP and you need:
1. the mirage software http://rapidshare.com/files/110283700/Mirage_LV_v1.8.rar
2. driver samsung http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...26233621765_MCCI_WHQL_Modem_Driver_4.38.5.exe
3. install activesync

I tried to go at http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/i780/index.jsp before updating my phone. I entered UK as country, XP as windows version and then I entered PDXHH1 which is the version you described. It says that version if wrong

PDXHL2.If you search on this forum you'll find the official updater, to use it just flash your pda part with a hl2 based rom via mirage and than run the official updater.
i already have PDA ROM PDXHL2 but when I try to update with official updater it says incorrect version. Btw, my PHONE ROM is DXHH1.
Any idea?

if you have a dxhh1 and you want to install a pda part L2 (?) you have to flash with "mirage" only . open this sw, click on "pda" button and choose the rom you have to install.

now i downloaded hl2 and it is fine.
