htc hd t9 - Touch HD Themes and Apps

I am using the htc t9 keyboard and really find it very iritating. i am having to really thump the keyboard to get a letter on the screen, even when i am using the qwerty keyboard it is the same, i put in a tweak and found that it helped a little bit to start with but then seamed to revert back to how it was, it is getting so much on my nerves that i am thinking about selling the phone, which i no is very extreme, but that is how much it is getting on my nerves. And i really like the phone. Any ideas how to solve the problem or another t9 keypad ??????

If you're having to press hard then I'd suggest its the sensitivity of the screen, you can download Tweak HD from these forums to adjust the sensitivity of the screen, that might help.

thanks, i have that installed as well. I am starting to think that there is something wrong with the phone. do you no of any other small programs that would give me another t9 app. I used to use the international phone pad, but when you install it, the program is about 1 5th of the size of the screen

i installed the new extreme rom from dutty and thats sorted the problem, it must of had something to do with the software

PocketCM Keyboard Issues

Anyone here use PocketCM Keyboard on their HD?
It is having serious issues for me. W/ stock or modified ROM and I'm really not sure why
The issue is that the auto-correct function only works about 30% of the time and it is driving me crazy as that is my favorite feature of this SIP.
Thanks,
Jim.
Im still trying to find a wvga skin for it, or ezinput wvga or some nice keyboard with no funny space bar that works on hd.
my auto correct works about 80% of the time but the keyboard seems to crash when using opera after a few minutes.
but what I want to know is there away to get the symbol keyboard to return to letters after use?
Just wanted to give an update. In OP I was using v .14 as it was the only one really usable to me, and had my custom theme and layout.
Now, however, using .21/.22 correction works 99% of the time (doesn't work only if there is some sort of special scenario). And it fits just fine on my HD screen. I would recommend changing the kb height to 41p or so, but it's pretty good as is.

Keyboard typing speed

I have noticed that with the stock keyboards, whenever I type really fast they always fail to detect the 2nd keystroke that was made within short interval after the first one. Is there a keyboard out there that could fix this problem or is it a inherent deficiency with the capacitive onscreen keyboards?
On a side note, can anyone tell me where to download the gingerbread in android market? I have looked high and low and couldn't find it.
I honestly haven't used the factory keyboard... I've got Swiftkey X, it seems to handle multitouch. I've even tried typing leaving my first finger down while pressing the next - no issues.
That's not the reason I got it though, I got it because it's built on a slick predictive text algorithm, it predicts the next words it thinks you might want to type so you type less. And the voice recognition I like better too, if you use the voice-to-text... it gives you 3 options to pick from so you aren't stuck groaning at whatever it thought you said.
if you search for gingerbread keyboard in the market you should find it. I think the developer is steven lin and it is called "keyboard from android 2.3"
I am using swift now and it also has that missing keystroke problem. I have also noticed that text prediction doesn't work with at least gmail application. In addition, like the samsung keyboard, there is no way to force use my own "misspelled" word when prediction is enabled.

I noticed lag with stock keyboard, switched to swiftkey (my always default) and still a little laggy... I came across A.I.keyboard, tried it and its like swiftkey with no lag and cool customization ...I'm really starting to really like this keyboard ...been using it the past few days and liking it alot...
No lag for me

Keyboard doesn't play sounds anymore!

Hello everyone! I just got my One X on Monday and so far I'm pretty happy with it, despite some small hiccups due to the first version of the SW.
Today I have installed an alternative camera app from the Market (Lg Camera Pro) and I turned off in the options the sound of the shutter. Guess what? The HTC stock keyboard stopped playing its sounds eversince, and no matter what I do there is no way to have them back. I have also uninstalled the Lg Camera app, but to no avail.
My idea is that the app has somehow overwritten some system file and as a result the keyboard is now mute. But is it possible, considering the handset is not even rooted yet?
Any ideas are very welcome.. if I don't find any other solution I will have to go for a full reset.
I have a heap of iPhone mates that I wish could find this LG app you mention. They all sit there in the room, going tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick on their phones while txting...sounds like a bloody stenographer's convention!
Sorry, I have no answer to your problem, but I am glad people around you are enjoying the silence

How about your screen lock / unlock? Is the sound still on? If doesn't then try to install some sound manager apps (ex: Audio manager) and check the volume level for system.
Awesome tip OP! A way to remove annoying keyboard sounds, will apply it if I get this phone and trial it on other devices.

You can always disable the keyboard sound via the keyboard setting menu. Most of the HTC device come with keyboard sound turned off.
I normally use the keyboard on mute, but that has nothing to do with the fact that I should be able to turn the sound on if I wish to do so!
Anyway I had to do a factory reset from recovery to have it back. Thanks to all.
Best tip I can give you : go to vip.swiftkey.net, sign up for the beta and download free Swiftkey 3.0 beta!
The keyboard is amazing compared to any other keyboard and since it's beta it's also free ;-)!

How does it compare to Swype?

It's an entirely different way of typing. Swype is faster because you don't have to remove your finger from the keyboard (at least not that often).
Swiftkey is faster because it predicts words insanely well, if you write "I'll be there in 5 min" for example it will suggest "be there in 5 min" after you write I'll.
It's a very intresting piece of software which learns what you type the most and how you type it.
Also the new beta even adds spaces between words if you have forgotten it (check video in the thread in VIP section of swiftkey for example).
I tried Swype, Swiftkey, SlideIT, stock keyboard, Sense 4.0 keyboard and I still love Swiftkey the most. At the start it isn't that great but when you use it a few days it becomes 10x better (because of the "learning" of the software).

I tried it a few times, but I'm too old-school clearly!!

[Q] Android Keyboard Issue With "Your" and "You're"

So I'm not sure how to go about describing this issue, so I'll just take a stab at it by saying that the android keyboard will not ever autocorrect "youre" to "you're". Instead it would rather correct it to "your". Yes this bothers me a lot because now I have to manually spell out that word whenever I use it. Is there some setting in the android keyboard that I'm missing that makes it understand the difference between your and you're? Some default setting perhaps? I've already cleared out my personal dictionaries for this as well as attempted to add "youre" manually to the personal dictionaries but go figure, the phone won't let that happen. The other reason I'm using the android keyboard is because ever since jellybean came out, the default lg keyboard in the phone seems to have become very slow. And by that I mean I can type faster than the key pop ups have time to pop up. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Since you've done the only things I could think about, I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. My only recommendation would be trying a different keyboard, I've used Swiftkey for years and really enjoy it! You can try a free trial (1month). Otherwise just try some other free ones?

[Q] Is there a good tutorial for the keyboard?

I've been using Swype for a long time and am very used to the way you can correct words by clicking on the S key with the finger on it.
The new Samsung keyboard has a lot of stuff on it that I like, but I really miss that ability. I suspect there is a way to do the same but have been unable to find it yet. The manual only seems to cover the very basics.
Anyone find a good tutorial for editing and using the keyboard?
I have loaded the Swype keyboard for the phone and it works like I am used to but I'd like to use the normal keyboard is possible.
Had the phone now since Tues afternoon, and except for the fact that I have zero time to play with it so far, I love the phone a lot.
