I NEED HELP. i had bbc iplayer working for couple of months now. and suddenly when i want to watch something i get an error. i can go on the site, that loads up perfectley www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer yeah that loads up fine. but when i go down and click on drama or comedy, i get an error saying check server snd url. it worked b4 and its not working now. im obviously using it through wifi.
HELP PLEASE!
Same problem here. I get an error about the server or file not being found...
Maybe because I don't live in the UK. When trying to acces a stream on my laptop (same wifi connection) I get:
Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only, but all BBC iPlayer Radio programmes are available to you. Why?
If you are in the UK and see this message please read this advice.
Go to Radio channels home page
BBC iplayer mobile seems to have been down for 36 hours. Main site is still working but you can't access it via mobile opera. Skyfire works though its not ideal.
iPLAYER WORKING ON SKYFIRE
YO JONNY! how the hell did u manage to get iplayer woring on skyfire. when i go the mobile site it says that the phone is not compatible. and when i go to the main iplayer site using skyfire i only get this green and black rectangular box. so how did u manage to get it working?
edit: i got it working via google. but when i click on a tv programme it says "these programmes are only available in the uk" but i am in the uk. i guess its coz the skyfire servers are overseas and some how iplayer detects that the server ip isnt in the uk. although saying that, the radio stations om iplayer work perfectly shame about the tv programmes. guys any tips on making these tv programmes work. i giess its coz skyfire is still in beta

Skyfire works fine for me on iplayer (quality is terrible though)
but it's the proper iplayer website not the mobile version.
i've also got the same problem with mobile iplayer being down....
sucks too because I just managed to find a Touch HD version of the streaming media app and wanted to see if it works.
(my orange branded phone came with a different default app)
EDIT: probably an OS or Browser specific problem, I got my mate to check iplayer on his n96 from my wifi and it works fine.
how did u get it to work on skyfire zooby? wot r ur settings and wot skyfire version r u using? and by the way iplayer mobile site is up and running
If you go to the bbc home page and follow the links to a specific programme it works. If you go directly to the /iplayer home page I get the same odd boxes.
For some reason I get the "not available in your region" on my home wifi, although my laptop works fine at the same time, but using vodafone 3G to connect I have never had any problems.

You are? I get an error message after install reminding that the Realplayer version installed may not work with current version of 2003?
Which version Realplayer you using 1.0 / 1.1 ? And also what network settings do you have 802.11B?
If I enter the URL of the Live broadcast (.ram) into Realplayer Open Location - error 'Incorrect or malformed protocol' pops up.
Please do tell how you have it working
thanks
hi all
ok i think ive sussed it.
make sure you have the latest version of realplayer.
goto the bbc.co.uk site as normal click on 'radio 1' (or whatever)
then click on 'listen' when the page loads you cant hear anything right?
go down the page a little and click on 'listen using stand alone realplayer'
you will be asked to download **.ram to my documents click ok and it will connect you and start realplayer.
some bbc stations use windows media player as well just click on 'listen using stand alone media player'
hope this helps

Is there even a version of realplayer for windows mobile?? I have just been hunting on real.com and cant even find a player!
Nigel
this one works for me:
http://www.real.com/realmobile/download.html
-check out posts above to get it working

Hmm
OK, got the player, could not see it before! Have downloaded r1live.ram from the beeb, tapping that starts real1player, which seems to connect to the site (displays connecting) then it says 'loading' for ages, before timing out with an error: 'Response or data from server timed out'.
I am using it on WiFi, no ports are blocked, and it works fine from a PC (also connected via wifi).
Any idea's?
Nigel
your player seems setup ok. i would suggest it is your connection. can you load the beeb site ok in a browser? are you far from your wifi transmitter?
Works on a laptop from the same location, so I dont think its the network. I have tried it while next to the AP
Nigel
i would start a new thread with the problem
Found that if you go on opera and go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer it works!!!
as quoted here.

you dont need flash it uses the video player app on Touch HD, says it works for Xperia users too and Omnia!!!
have fun, ohh you can do the following
CATCHUP
WATC LIVE TV
LISTEN TO LIVE RADIO
I don't know about anybody else.... but I already knew this! I've been using Iplayer on my Touch HD since Christmas (when I got my Touch HD).
The problem, still, is that you need wifi... you can't use your Data Connection!
I'm still having trouble. From the other threads I think a few people still do.
I've tried several times. No luck. It opens in the video player but then just hangs on "connecting".
Now that the blackstone is supported there shouldnt be any need to change the user agent... but still?

Same thing happens with mine anyone out there got any ideas?
sorry i only just found this out have been watching ot through skyfire lol. i was impressed with both
My understanding is iPlayer works only on 3 and vodafone over their network at the moment. I've used it with 3 no problems.
^ True, but it should work over wifi no matter what network you use.
In my case and others, the Touch HD can't deal with Iplayer via wifi out the box.
Those of you having problems over wifi might find the problem is nothing to do with the BBC or the Touch, but your router/firewall. I have two wifi networks in my house - one is within my network behind the gateway/firewall PC and another is right at my broadband modem (in the DMZ).
Connecting directly through the broadband modem means I can watch the iPlayer no problem, but if I'm behind the gateway then the HD's streaming app can't connect. I haven't bothered to investigate which ports I need to open in the gateway to make it work within the network but I assume it must be possible.
Hope this helps suggest a pointer for investigation.

it doesn't matter if you type in bbc.co.uk/iplayer, it redirects you automatically to the mobile version.
I get: "Please switch to Wifi to play this programme.".
I'm from the Netherlands and use the Vodafone network, how can i resolve this problem?
i am on T-mobile uk, and i also get pls switch to wifi, thing is.... if you was near wifi, your probably at home, use the pc to watch iplayer lol. Guess theres always the usefulness for the toilet lol

everyone keeps saying this but it's not on mine. is it somewhere on my system? i've looked through every executable and it's like my touch hd
didn't come with the standard software.
That media player is not the default one that opens when I try to use Iplayer either. Mine has less and smaller icons. They're circles too. Not Square.
If the problem is with the router/firewall, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
The youtube player works perfectly over both wifi and 3g. I also have Gremote working fine... both of which require connections to the PC..?
Not working no more

_____________________________________________________________________________________________
Hi guys, i've been looking around for the past 2 days including searching through these forums for ages and I can't quite find the answer i'm looking for. A few threads have come close but don't really help because they're not
specifically about this problem.
I've got the Touch HD it came installed with pvplayer,
when I go to the BBC iPlayer mobile site the videos hang on the connecting screen.
I've seen a video of the htc Touch HD running Iplayer but the media player the browser links to isn't the one I have.
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=1902#comment-10175
That's the page I saw the video on.
I tried installing the Htc Streaming Media app, if i'm running that i get it
to buffer and I get audio but no video.
The toolbar also looks really small and it's garbled on the bottom right hand side of the screen. so i'm thinking I might have an old version or something.
So the question is.....
Does anyone know what player the guy in the video is using?
and if it's a different version of the Htc Streaming Media app
where can I get it.
Any help appreciated, oh and sorry if it's covered elsewhere, i've been going through these forums for ages trying to find it but all the answers seem to be relating to old hacks before the BBC started supporting the phone or people
going "runs great now" without saying what they're using to do it.
(originally posted in the general discussion by accident, no flaming please)
EDIT: I've been told by someone at wmpoweruser that it's the default player that comes with the phone, strangely I've never seen it, now i'm wondering
if there's a specific build from orange without the player. I don't want to do a hard reset to check just yet (i've spent the last week getting everything on there
that I need and I don't feel like starting from scratch)
if anyone knows of a .cab file with the "default" htc streaming app for the touch HD i'd really appreciate it. Thanks
Ive got mine from orange and it is included, and iplayer works.
I think it only works over wifi though, i could get it to work over 3g or when plugged into my PC.
Mike.
I got mine from orange too, but it hangs on the loading screen.

mine automatically goes to pvplayer, I can't find the htc default software anywhere.

Phone from Orange also.
im on orange and it seems to work fine, still in 'Beta' tho.

I get the same stuck on connecting when using m.youtube.com
(coreplayer can do it but I wanted to check the player was working)
are you using a bebox router? i've seen someone else on wmpoweruser had
the same problem, switched routers and it worked.
i'm on bebox too but don't have a spare router to check.... maybe thats
the problem.
I am using a bebox router which may be the issue.
I did manage to get audio using an old version of the HTC Streaming Media Player but no video and the menu's were all corrupt.
I'll try from different wifi

ok cool let me know how you get on.
i don't want to go buying a router just to check
EDIT:
Discovered it's almost definately the router.
i've gone back to the standard pvplayer and I think it should work without tweaks with a different router.
to explain why i think that's the case i'll explain
i had to do a few things.....
while stuck on connecting using wifi I copied the stream file from the opera tempdownload folder
to my storage card
because pvplayer will delete a temp stream from iplayer after you stop it (confused me for a bit
because i couldn't figure out where iplayer sent em and the other streams from different sites hadn't deleted themselves)
I zipped the file in a temp folder then extracted
it again so i'd keep a copy.
I turned off wifi and turned on my data connection.
I then ran the stream file with pvplayer... it got past connecting!!
buffered and started to run.... ok it stopped every 2 seconds to rebuffer for about 10 seconds so it was unwatchable
because it's meant to be a wifi quality stream and i was running on 3g but it actually got past connecting!
so it must be my bebox router not letting me connect....
interesting side note that i discovered
you can probably run iplayer without using wifi if you grab the stream file at a wifi spot
then copy the file to a different place ... probably work ok on hsdpa connection
haven't had chance to check yet. :>
You can try this.

Awesome app - still in 0.4 and a bit buggy but works in WVGA!! Best picture possible.
To stream use with tcpmp http://rghost.ru/40265 or coreplayer. Just ensure in those apps in permissions you add .mov files as assosicated otherwsie it will just download them.

thanks for the heads up just edited my last post to explain that it's almost definately my router, i've been keeping track of that iplayer app and posting back to craftyb the bugs for the touch hd
also edited my first post to explain that i've discovered the problem (probably usefull for someone, i wish more people would do the same )
ive worked out why it hangs....
its to do with ports and blocking them, at my girlfriends i connect to iplayer via wifi, (also with the pvplayer app on orange branded handset)
i need to find out which ports need to be open so i can add the app to the router, that or try get the silly router app to not be so strict!!

uses streamiing media for ppc. standard with stock touch hd.

Hi Zooby, I can confirm that its definitely the bebox. I have the 700 series speedtouch. I disconnected it and used a friends netgear modem and could stream iplayer beautifully to my HD and Polaris. The solution apparently is to forward ports on the bebox for the hd and apply the chosen port settings to htc streaming player. I couldnt get it to work so i bought a netgear dg834gt. The dg834n works well too. If you figure out how to port forward the bebox for the Touch HD, please let us know.

i've tried a few different port ranges already, i saw someone on another thread talking about a specific range working but it didn't work for me
(the guy tried 4105 - 4125)
i've searched through forums and iplayer tech support pages for the ports iplayer mobile uses, can't seem to find them.
google is not my ally on this one.
will login to Be forums at some point see if anyone there has had the same problem.
I hope I don't have to buy a new router, I only just finished messing around with it to open up the last ethernet port to use on xbox live (for some reason the last port was reserved for other uses as standard).
I think that last port is used by Be techies when you authorise them to remote access your Bebox if you need help with a fault etc. I did search the Be forums a while back but nothing useful. I bet it's something really simple though. The problem is getting information from someone who's got it working. Someone on Be in the Uk, using a Bebox, has a pda phone and accesses iplayer(from within the UK). A bit of a tall order, i think.

yeh i know but i had an extra non wifi device i needed to put on.....
i've checked bebox forums, nobody seems to have a clue.
pretty much everyone on there is buying a different router.
i've tried a few options with the router, i just can't seem to open it up.
(changed firmware 3 times, telnet to change nat, specific ports related to the iplayer download manager... trust me... loads of things.)
i'm not gonna go buying a new router just to watch iplayer while in my house since i can do that from my pc anyway, for anyone that desperate to watch it from home on a bebox router.... buy a new router.

I have an Amazon FireTV, am based in the netherlands.
It supports the Unblock US DNS solution when using the US, CA, MX, BR, AR & CO netflix versions, however all other countries (NL, UK, IRL, SW, DK, NO, FI) not. I tried them all
adb logcat shows request for playing via:
I/chromium( 5023): ", source: http s://secure.netflix.com/us/htmltvui/release-CadmiumSlim-218/cadmium_slim/p/720p/html/plus.html?platform_id=nero&video_height=1080&e=AMZNST2013-00002-000XXXXX&nettype=WIFI&setVideoSizeElement=true&build_id=JDQ39&build_time=1396217919000&version_release=4.2.2&version_incremental=1.0&video_width=1920&clearVideoSrc=true (0)
and then an
I/X509Util( 5023): Failed to validate the certificate chain, error: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found
error
So, a nice certificate path error. Looks like Amazon has hardcoded? the certs for the Americas only...
It uses the HTML5 interface, first request is via
http s://uiboot.netflix.com/apps/cadmiumtvui/upgrade_policy?v=2.0&first_boot=true&platform_id=nero&version_release=4.2.2&version_
incremental=1.0&build_id=JDQ39&build_time=1396217919000&nettype=ETHERNET&video_height=1080&video_width=1920
For me, this kinda suck, as I toggle often between US & NL versions, but this info can be helpful for those that want the US/Americas versions.
Sideloaded netflix apk does work , but that is touch/mouse based and I can't select season episodes with the FireTV remote (movie selection works good though, but yu also can't search w/ the remote, thus limited in functionality). A workaround is starting it on my phone, then immediatly stop it, start the sideloaded version and continue watching. But that is suboptimal, to say the least (but allows me to watch the spisodes on my FireTV, can leave the AppleTV detached).
WAF is sub-zero with this solution, as you might guess...
Will be waiting for root to see if I can get into the /data folder to see what we can do about this.
How are you setting your Unblock-us settings, in the router or the Amazon Fire TV network settings?
They may provide different results.

Have them set on router level, also tried w/ full local settings, as well as setting FireTV hard to the Google DNS (so not using unblock us) for trying the NL Netflix, same results.
smart dns
There are plenty of smart dns out there right now. They are not created equal, some wont' work with your isp and some will. Most of them have free trial. You can try before subscribing. For me I'm with trickbyte for a while without problem at all. Support is great too.
If you watch only netflix and hulu, no need to spend $5/month like that. I'm using trickbyte.com it's only $2.99/month. You can save money and get the get the great quality. My dearest friend recommend me trickbyte for $2.99/month I enjoyed watching movies from US without worrying bandwidth.

The problem wasn't with unblocking Netflix (I use another service for that), but with that Netflix Certificates weren't installed for the EU countries. Resulting in the app being unable to stream movies / series. But that has been changed on the Netflix end recently.
And as I want to switch between multiple Netflix countries, hola wasn't really a solution anyways for me. But, YMMV.

all i did was install it from the play store, open it, select the unblock option, i left the accelerator off, then you select the netflix app from further down the list, look for the icon as the app name is amazon specific. if you pick the netflix from the top, it will download the standard mobile version, not sure if thats working or not, didnt try.
hope that helps. still on the 51.0.0.1 or whatever the first OS is.

Hello,
Has anybody been able to get the BBC iPlayer to work with FireTV stick in the US? I am using unlocator DNS service, and the DNS addresses are set in the stick's network configuration. The iPlayer works without problems as a plugin on XBMC/Kodi installed on my FireTV stick, but so far I have no luck with the FireTV version of the regular BBC iPlayer that I sideloaded from an APK. It starts just fine and shows the available content, but then fails to play it with the "Something went wrong playing this programme. 02100" error.
The iPlayer is working on my iOS and Windows devices just fine. Any ideas? I would much prefer to use the iPlayer interface instead of the Kodi plugin. I do not have any pointing devices connected to my FireTV, so sideloading a regular Android version is not really an option.
Also, amazon.co.uk lets me download the FireTV iPlayer (I have a UK-based account), but then claims that it is not compatible with the device. Is the hardware sold in the US different from the hardware sold in the UK? It was not the case with the FireTV box... Or is the iPlayer not yet supported on FireTV sticks sold in the UK too?
Thank you,
maxbos

The Fire TV Stick isn't yet sold in the UK, so that might be why. I'd imagine the iPlayer app doesn't include support for it yet.
