New Forums

Hello Mods and All,
Just curious, I read through the threads and see all kinds of people asking for new forums for new HTC devices. Why does someone even have to ask? If this site is dedicated to supporting HTC devices, "your Niche", why aren't these forums created immediatelly when the new device is announced by HTC. I would be worried that you might start loosing people due to your perceived lack of action.
Is there a server issue with creating more forums, or what is the reason for not wanting to, or delaying the creation?
Just curious, am interested in the Panda but see that it's another phone without a forum.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Thanks for the response Mike, guess I would just automatically create one anyway so that all posts could be contained in a single place, but then again, would just me more places to check when moderating and trying to keep all of the illegal posts in check.

[Q] Blocking PM usage to new members

Recently I've picked up on a trend where people are signing up to the site and then, without searching or reading the threads, they start to shoot off questions via PMs. Is there a way to ensure that new members do not have access to the PM function until they have a certain number of post of have been a member for a specific period of time (if you want to stop spam posting)?

I wish there were a way as well. I normally just have fun with them when I get a PM from someone who obviously didn't search or read. I've sent two users to lemon party dot com already.
So no reply from XDA?
If we extend the 10 post rule to PMs, that would probably increase the number of junk posts in other forums. The thinking is... "ok, I can't post in any development forum, and I can't PM anyone...I might as well inundate other sections with my question until I get a reply!"
...so, not sure it's the best solution.
How about the second suggestion then? They have to be a member for a certain period of time before the function is available to them?

I like tat this suggestion!! Set a Certain period of time.
But may I suggest, also implement 10 post. Of course with CAPTCHA implemented. (But implementing CAPTCHA, meant the WHOLE Global XDA posting will have CAPTCHA, will end up a GLOBAL Panic for DEV)

LMAO!
I do know a pretty annoying Rickroll site that could be useful for this.

I totally agree. The Q&A and General forums are getting inundated with "I can't post in the dev threads" questions. It's made matters worse. I think new users should be able to post in dev forums, but not create a thread their own in there.

10 and read more you'd know that it wouldn't require a whole new thread to make a post such as this lol. Read while you can't make posts and if your bored enough bring back the old posts that you find while searching. In the mean time search that thread you want to post in cause I promise you you'll find what you're looking for.

Nearly none for Sprint customers.
Hey all, this is essentially dated news. It also is being discussed all over the place already.
Sorry for being a bizz kill, but as it is a duplicate of news/posts/threads already out there, along with the above, closing this thread.
