Has anyone created a better looking skin for the system message bubbles?
For anyone who uses S2U2, and has their SMS messages appear on screen, they look terrible compared to the skins of all of the great themes.
Would it be difficult for someone to create something like this, with the associated soft buttons, to be attached to the bubbles, and have it centered in the screene, much like the iPhone bubble placement.
No one has any info on this?
come on... I know one of you fellas is capable of creating this... I'll donate..

I was just looking for a little advice on how to move some of the items on the sliding panels.
All I want to do is change the order of them, instead of having Missed Calls - Voicemail - Text Messages - Email, I would rather have it as Text Messages - Email - Missed Calls - Voicemail.
What would I need to edit this? What file? Where?
Do I need any specific software or can it be done with something like notepad2?

as far as i know you cant modifiy the order...atleast not yet. I could and proabably be wrong

that has nothing to do of what he wants
your right, my bad.
Sorry, but it's not possible to do that with the current knowledge we have of the panels. Maybe later... who knows...
What about getting it to have dark text, or dark graphics? I would really love to be able to do something with some lighter homescreen backgrounds Im working on.

yeah man, goto home screen > Color scheme > Text: black
I Havnt Tested Rickys V9 And Below(but In Version10 For Sure)
In Your Settings-homescreen-color, You Can Select Black Or White Text, I Doubt This Changed The Start Bar Color But I Didnt Pay Attention... (also, Play Around With The Settings And Everything Else On The Phone...i Found Different Clock Options And Im Extremely Happy With This Version!)
could this be added to chome
Im on Ricky's v.4 at the moment, I was wondering what the technical method was of adding the black text, so I could preload it into a color scheme, appropriate to a given default wallpaper, button color, etc.

Hey you, black text? see attachment
extract...you know where it goes
AH, I get it now. I had been meaning to flash when I convenienly frozed my phone. It adds the black (or, white) text to the last picked color scheme. Nice!
Okay, now how do I mod the panels to black, and the icons in the top left corner of each? any starting spot? I didnt find anything that looked like a good lead in the .cpl or the .home...
Thanks, gang.
for the order of items in the panel, this might be useful:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2068381
not sure if this is true for all but whenever I set the text on a theme to 000000 it comes out jagged so i would suggest using 222222 or 111111...dark enough and not jagged.
I'm tempted to make a new thread, but this so seems like the right place. I've got the text themes working. Very well. I now can make my home screen a dizzying mess!
I am sure there is a way to make the panels themselves dark. Is it in a .dll in \windows? I cannot get some of them to copy, like, all the onse I want to pick at. Not that I am sure that my skills with ResHack are up for it. Anyone else interested?
I've got your chomebar.zip, now i am trying to integrate it.
could we do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IMtkNSjuhQ&feature=related
Definitely would be awesome!

This is so cool! : ).
I can't wait to see it on my phone.
Can "we"? Yes, all the shadow glamour is powered by ( and probably funded 6.1) the funky new silverlight tech that powers Chome.
But do we want nice large photoes and album covers on our home screen? Do we want my fave loading with Flash-like slowness? Some yes, some, not so much...
There is a *load of possibilty in this .1 release, beyond what we've seen so far. SmartPhone Cube? Excalibur-exclusive UI functionality exploiting the unique hardware I assume is only days away, if everyone is as rapid-fire as you, Rick.
Replace * with your favorite word
I think, the people must have a choice, what to install and what is important - performance or effects. This is personal choice, and if there are many variants, technologies, etc, the people will be happy.
You see what happen when sliding panel come - everyone like it! .
The interface on the Juno... which is what you're seeing that in video... IS Chome. It's even the same CLSID on the home screen's .xml... the same GUID's... etc I'm thinking the .dll's are different to make it "special" for the TMobile Shadow (the HTC Juno).
I thought it was just a matter of formatting, like changing the .cpr file or something. I don't think it is so though... as I've searched the file system on a TMobile Shadow phone and couldnt find any .cpr files whatsoever...
All CHome interface in bronze.dll (i think so...)
yep.. true.
this cmhomeaddon plugin is only for portrait screen, and only for neo display style(another display style of chome)
Oh, sh....
Neo have weather plugin, and current CHome - no
Any recommendations for what to pick apart and repack bronze.dll with? ResHack isn't giving me anything too friendly.

use this PE Explorer
PE is much friendlier! Thanks for the tip!
When I replace the images, the file is nearly 4x larger. When I replace bronzeres on the phone it kills Chome-based screens. Is there something I have to do to force a file-size match, or sign it, or something?

unsign the dll first then once done resign
i think it would be real neat to have a shadow interface on the dash it would make the excaliburs unique and for people in the barbershop with the same phone as me can envy lol
It works, it works! And boy, does this quick test version look like crap--- but it works, so I think I will try again, but with feeling now. Woo hoo hoo...
So, how shall we get this working on the same phone with an existing bronzesres.dll? I notice that thehome.xml calls only 2 plugins, iconbar and "Bronze". Anyone know how to dupe Bronze, and have it call the new dll?
Off to Google I go...
Ok, it's closer, and much stronger than the first experiment. In fact, the black is too strong. Back to the 'shop to tweak it again...
UPDATE: Closer still... (#6 & #7)
Got it
Ok, here it is, a nice, dark, but not too dark Sliding Panel set. At this point, it will REPLACE your regular sliding panel's soft translucent white bubble look.
Although a simple script to unload any current Chome-based homescreen and swap the dll's is probably trivial for someone to write (hint, hint), it is not for me.
Directions:
Be running WM6.1, and have Sliding Panel (Chome) working.
Switch to any homescreen that does not use Sliding Panel.
Backup your existing bronzeres.dll
Overwrite with the BrightNight version.
Load a Sliding Panel style homescreen. For best results, use black text and a bright and light background, or a medium text and a dark background for a low output "night mode". Hence the name.
CAUTION: This .dll is experimental. Use at your own risk. Look both ways when crossing the street. Floss. For those of you who didnt follow directions, the original bronzeres.dll is available earlier in this thread. It is in use and cannot be overwritten while chome is running.
UPDATE: Added some bright wallpapers, since they are hard to find around here. © someone else. If you need directions on what to do with them, just skip this whole topic.
That's tight! Maybe we can "join efforts" and make the top of the rectangle darker also, like I did in a previous thread around here. Oh... what do I do with those backgrounds ?!
send me the pic. I was toying around with making a whole new image, if I ever get a day off, too.
heres what ive got so far this is my wm6.5 theme
That would be amazing, I will try to see if I can look into this.
So in the pic, is that 3 seperate panels showing? The top one, the middle clock panel, and the bottom messaging panel? If so , what is top panel? The clock and messaging I believe is possible, the top I don't know since I'm not sure exactly what panel it is.

Haha neither am I, but still it would look cool if we could get this done...
looks awesome, hook it up!
this is my wm6.5 theme, got bored one day and decided that i'm not going to wait for a smartphone version of wm6.5. sorry for the terrible picture quality. i used png pics to name the panels, rearranged the cpl so the custom panels will display pretty much how the others are, except for the panels name. that will change with the text scheme's, and as for the other panels you can change the color of the png to match whatever text scheme you use. you can go into your "program files\wm6.5" folder and change them using paint. here's the download link if anybody want it, if there are any problems let me know.
WinMo6.5 Theme
They way I see it, even though I have never actually used a phone with 6.5, there is no top panel as it seems to just rotate endlessly, with the main one being the time in the center until you move onto another one.
It would be SOOOOOO good if this gets any steam behind it.
Let's get some more devs in here xD
Ok. So I know there's a few ways to mess with our colors on our 7.5 devices. We have the advanced config tool, to change the overall accent colors, and we have registry editors to go more into details. I may be mistaken here, but I don't believe anyone has made an app (similar to advanced config tools) where you can pick from pre-loaded fully customized themes. I think this would really be great, especially for those of us who don't want to mess with reg editing or who can't seem to come up with good themes.
Just as a quick example... I downloaded the ACtool because I really wanted black tiles. Looks really cool.. until I realized there were texts and other things also black, so it makes many things unusable. I'm know you could fix this with registry editing, and it would be great if someone could make some of these pre-loaded with an app.
Or if there's a reason this hasn't been done yet... how about we use this thread to post some of our favorite color codes for reg editing to make it easier to try out different themes?
FF0D5CA6
Nice blue colour that really pops on my focus. Still allows for a noticeable difference in incoming and outgoing messages, contrasts well with the black background.
I meant more of full themes, like where people have done black tiles with blue backgrounds, changed texts to red.. etc. Like fully changing everything.
But hey if you have suggestions for accent colors that's appreciated as well, I'll give that one a shot.
I agree this would be very cool. I think one issue is that not all devices are equal in their drivers, and access to the registry. So developers are fighting with the basics still (I could be wrong here).
To add to your request though, I would love to see the abilty to overlay an image or texture on top of the tiles. Right now, only solid colors are allowable for tiles...hopefully some smart devs can come up with a way to allow more. How cool would it be to have brushed metal tiles, or some other gradient???
If those wp8 concept pics on 1800pocketpc could be brought to reality that would really change the game.

Anybody running ferponts rom that wants to try my new theme. Kinda a secret theme I can't believe nobody has done yet. Also found something else interested while making it id love to test out. But for some reason having a hell of a time writing to the registry.

Do we know in regards to changing stock text bubbles in the messages app?
I don't mind the stock look ('s) but I would like to add my own. Any help would be great help.
Up!
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that is what you're stuck with. It's one of the main reasons why I replaced it with a different app. Although the chicken and pig bubbles were cute
