Hey folks, here's wishing a very happy new year to the entire xda-community! my query is related to the mapking software. I've been using this software with mumbai map which came bundled with my HTC P3300 for the last couple of months. I hv noticed a significantly large positional error between actual and gps position on the map. Initially thought could be due to low gps signal, so got myself an external antenna which sorted the low signal problem, however the positional error remains the same. does anyone else experience this. is there some way i can apply some sort of correction (or a patch perhaps) to the maps. Being a navigator we are used to such corrections wherein we change the datum of the gps receiver to sychronise with the actual printed maps. Also pls note that google maps works flawless and pretty much accurate.any advise on this.thanx!
First of all a happy new year to you as well!
Since you mention that Google Maps works well, I can tell you that it has nothing to do with your GPS signal.
I ain't familiar with the MapKing software, but I'm pretty sure that you need to re-calibrate the map correctly.
hey prodinho, thnx very much for the input. "recaliberate" that's precisely what i need to do. however the software by itself doesn't have any options. any advice?
yes buddy, i found the same while using it for Delhi.. However I feel, the old version's map is pretty accurate than the newer one. I am right now using the 2007 version and YES, its smtimes give me positional errors !
Hey jupinder, which particular older version is the most accurate as per your experience. thanx.
Im not sure but I think you can load the maps in OziExplorer on your PC to calibrate them.
Then you can save them and put it back on your device..
Download and install OziExplorer for PC: http://www.oziexplorer.com/
hv gone through the oziexplorer link. unfortunately doesnt support the mapking format of maps. so cannot load them.
Can someone pls guide me in calibrating mapking maps in oziexplorer. Thanx.
sorry fr my late reply..it was the mapking 5 or 7 version map of delhi and it rocked....Laterly i've found tht it also depends on the no of satellites u r getting locked to !!
Hy guys!
I'm new to this forum. First post, but I'm reading other member's posts for a while, hope I didn't made a post in a wrong area.
I've just bought an Eten x500 PPC and I already have a problem with it.
The GPS is not working! And when I say not working, I mean it's dead (someone call 911).
It's not brand new. It's a second hand device. The first owner from which I got the phone, upgraded it to WM 6.0 After that, the GPS stopped working.
It's not a matter of warrenty since I'm not the one who bought it from the electronics shop.
Here is the deal:
I try to use the GPS but the device can't find any satellite. The blue light though, is flashing. But there are no satellites here. My car GPS is working fine.
I have Igo 2008 3d installed and running with no problem. I can see the maps, but there is no satellite connection. I've tried other versions of igo but with no success.
What can I do?
I'm new to PPCs world. I have never changed any ROMs or upgraded any device. If you have any clue about what is happening with my Eten x500 please let me know and I'll have a hot pizza and a cold beer for you when you stop by in my town.
Hi all,
I have a strange phenomna I installed Tomtom 7 on my new HTC touch HD. I touched it did not work. because i do not have any GPS signal indicators but nevertheless strangely enough TOMTOM 7 is working fine.
The same version is on my Fujitsu Siemens N560 and there all is woorking well with GPS indicators working.
Are there any others who have the same thing? and what to do to get these indicators working?
tomtom version 7.450(9028)
gps version v1.20
map Western Europe v720.1802
Same for me on Garmin Mobile XT. It's due the newer GPS drivers support more satellites, so you need an update for TomTom. For me it's a minor issue as it doesn't affect navigation.
Cheers
Chrissi
Have you tried running QuickGPSFix program before launching TomTom, it help TomTom get signals

Tomtom is getting the Satelite signals (because tomtom is working perfectly)
the only thing is that i don't see any satelites.(the signal indicators on the driving screen are showing nothing) and also at the GPS status screen no satelites are shown.
The only thing there is saying that the built in gps reciever is giving me latitude blablabla minutes seconds etc.
So GPS is working but i can't see it.
quickgpsfix did not change anything. i tried that.
But i am glad Tomtom is working, it is only strange.
regards,
I have the same issue when I used WM6.5 version, once I changed back to WM6.1, the indicator works fine. (What version are you using it?)
tested on all Dutty WM6.5 versions and none of it works.
tested on all Dutty WM6.1 versions and works fine.
tested on Miri WM6.5 and it works.
tested on Panosha WM6.5 and it works only on few radio versions.
No Ideal at all............
Same problem with the same version of TomTom here...
I updated to TomTom 7.915 (9196) and the problem was gone...
I had this issue with Garmin XT.
I fixed it (accidentally!) by changing the GPS Program Port to GPD1 instead of a COM port.
After doing that it worked, and still works after changing it back to a COM port. No idea why.
I use it on a HTC Touch HD only 1 week old
original rom, dutch version. wm 6.1
If you are using Garmin XT and is default using "Use serial GPS", switch to "use GP intermediate Driver" and you will see the signal bars.
This is on My TOMTOM as well. It was strange at first especially as we have always had signal bars now I dont care as long as it works. You know what they say.... If it aint Broke...... etc
I have the same problem, running tomtom version 7.450.
This problem (no satellites) appeared after upgrading the rom to HTC version 1.56. Before, with the previous original HTC rom, the same version of tomtom worked perfectly.
I've got the same problem, too.
After flashing new (org.) HTC ROM, TomTom works fine, but signal indicator is not showing satellites.
ditto - same problem noticed since moving to cooked ROM, but I might have had it before to be fair.
I'm happy TomTom works but I'd like to see them if i can.
Guys,
The reason for not showing the satellites in TomTom is that these versions can't handle the number of satellites available on the GPS chipset. Don't worry as it makes absolutely no difference to the operation of TomTom.
Should have mentioned that this is due to the latest HTC radios. Can't remember from which radio version the full GPS functionality was implemented in but am sure if you check you can find the information.
I have the same problem on my Diamond 2, that is to say, Tomtom Navigator 7 works but the satellite indicator doesn't work. But, this morning I SAW THE INDICATOR WORKING!!! I was so happy. Then, in the afternoon, when I started Tomtom, the indicator did not work.... I am sure I did not dream this morning...
I am wondering what happened this morning. If I knew, I could make it work again...
As the satellite indicator worked once, it maybe that the driver is there.. Maybe some registry tweak may bring it to life...
I got same problem after I update my ROM. The navigation is working fine just without satalites indicator. I'm sure Tomtom had signal indicator before the ROM update. Anyone has solution?

I have the exact same problem with TT7!... I've tried everything in settings but can't get the signal bar to appear.
Does anyone have a solution or a cab file to fix this GPS issue in 6.5 ROMs? If not, atleast, TomTom works fine...
Yep,I have the same ,no indicators, tried reinstalling no difference, would love to have them working.
Don
One more here, HTC Diamond, TomTom7, newest radio.
I think that got broken when I updated to a new ROM/Radio some time ago, same TomTom installation had no such problems before.
It is a minor thing but does help to see how quickly you are going to get the full signal )
am using duttys holy grail R0 with Manila 2.1 radio 1.17 and TOMTOM 7.915.9196 and i get GPS signal indicators now. I didn't on 7.4, which is odd.
Hello together,
i have my desire now since nearly two month. Im relly happy with the phone. But one problem:
GPS is not working, i don't get a GPS fix.
It didn't work as I had the phone completely new neither now after i rooted it. I already tried a couple of different radios but my phone doesn't find any satelites.
Does anybody else has the problem? Is this just a software bug or is the hardware damaged?
If I have to send it back to HTC, do you know how long does it take till i get my phone back? Im based in germany.
Thank you very much for your help!
best regards
Tom
I only have my desire 2 days now, it has a orange uk branded phone, so I unbranded it to a stock htc rom, and I have the same problem as you, it takes ages to lock a gps signal.
Today it took 30minutes to lock the gps signal on my ndrive.
I don't have a problem with my GPS on my Orange debranded Desire, what ROM are you debranding with?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I use this one because of the portuguese language:
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.1_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121684.exe
Do you use any program to help catch the gps signal?
Regards
I lost mine with a radio update, had to use 32.30.00.28U_405.00.11 to get GPS working again. Which radio do you have?
NDrive has problems locking with the Desire's GPS. Launch NDrive, press home button, enable the GPS and goto NDrive again. That works for me most of the times.
Or use Google Maps to get a fix and then launch NDrive.

Thanks, i will try that, as soon as I can I will report if it works.
Thanks again
I tried it with these radios:
32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
32.37.00.32U_4.06.00.16_2
32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04
And with none of them I got GPS fix.
I tried it also with differnt applications:
Google Maps
Navigon
GPS Status
GPS Test
But without success, no GPS fix at all
Oh by the way, i tried it also with the Stock ROM and with OpenDesire 1.4 and OpenDesire 1.5
€: I use now OpenDesire 2.1 with the newest Radio 32.42.00.32U_5.09.00.08
I still don't have any chance to find a satelite. Has anyone an idea to fix the problem?
i don't know if it's allowed on this board, i just wanted to push my message to the first page, after it was now on page 15. Perhaps anyone has an idea about fixing the problem.
Thank you!
All that worked for me was trying the radio I had originally (before I started playing around). You tried any of the older ones?
Hi,
I also now have a problem with GPS fix. First I have overheating & reboot problem, then MB were replaced & now I can't get fix (no satellites at view at all). I hope that this is software related (although I do not use GPS much). So probably somebody knew how to perform cold reboot of GPS sensor (I perform this with previous Touch Diamond to bring GPS back to life)?
hello!
as i haven't found a thread comparable to what I experience with commercial gps software, I decided to start one.
i have tried NAVIGON, SYGIC MOBILE, ANDNAV2 and finally COPILOT 8. Of those, only ANDNAV2 worked satisfying, the rest either crashed already at the start or got no gps lock.http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/mad.gif
In google-maps and google-navigation i am getting a very good signal, I have improved it with gps fix, gps aids etc.
has anybody any idea, why the galaxy s seems to defy anything that doesn't come from GOOGLE??!? http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
it's quite frustrating, and I have read similar experience on other forums.
thanks, yours, david
Hi, for me is the same. Yesterday I tried with Sygic and it was ok, today no gps lock. But if I go to NDrive 10 or google maps then I got a lock. Quite estrange behavior.
i find iGo for android is the best..
