If you are using RC33, and the theme isn't working, do this. (Requires apps on SD Card
-Open up terminal emulator.
-Type:
su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
busybox cp -a /system/media /system/sd
rm -r /system/media
ln -s /system/sd/media /system/media
-Reboot your phone
-Download the theme you want.
-Rename to update.zip and put it on your sdcard.
-Turn off the phone. Boot into recovery mode. (Home + Power Buttons)
-Once loaded, press Alt + S
-You're done.
Alternate Method Without Apps on SDCard
-Set your ringtone and notification for everything to something you have on your sd card
-Go to terminal emulator
-Type
su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
rm -r /system/media/audio/ringtones
rm -r /system/media/audio/notifications
-Download and install your theme of choice
Everything here as been judged as functional by the devs, myself and various other members. Install these themes at your own risk. It might brick your phone. The devs and I will not be held responsible for anything that might happen to your phone. Enjoy.
Installation instructions updated. If it doesn't work use one of the two methods above.
ADP, RC8 and wallpapers coming soon.
Lol. I just noticed how weird all the theme devs names were. Funny.

SWEET!
Since there are soooooo many great themes floating around I think this is a brilliant idea.
It should be made an Official Sticky updated weekly after themes have been posted to the regular forum. Just a thought
This is great. i wust getting ready to start looking for a way to put a new theme on after i moved all my apps to the sdcard.
and xcallibur, i like your avatar. it is funny.

Thanks dude... picked up a bunch of them while looking for emoticons to put on my phone for use in MMS messages... I have tons of 'em.
Wait...we have to run apps from the sd card to have themes now? Sorry, I've been out of the loop the last week or so....since all this RC33 business.
It's not the only way to get the themes to run, but in my opinion, it is the best way atm.
If you'd like, I'll post the alternate method in the OP.
On another note, all the RC33 themes have been posted, just have ADP 1.1 themes to list up there. Then... RC8.
Wrong! i don't have any apps saved to my SD Card
and all i did was
-Download the theme you want.
-Rename to update.zip and put it on your sdcard.
-Turn off the phone. Boot into recovery mode. (Home + Power Buttons)
-Once loaded, press Alt + S
-You're done.
and have my theme working perfectly
That just isn't possible for any rc33 themes. They have to have jdwme's rc33 or have jf rc33 and run those commands I have posted up top. End of story.

More Vintage Less War retooled via applytheme works just fine on my stock JF1.41 RC33 install, without removing anything or using a "lite" version.
applytheme's still beta and undergoing changes, though.

Shouldn't it be:

Would you mind posting the other methods for RC33? I have yet to find any besides this one.
Yes. edited.
ill post it in a bit.
in the meantime, check the thread for buuf.
he has the other method there.
Thank you, I'll check it out right now.
Edit:
Looks like I'll be using your method since I've already moved my apps to the SD card.
apps in sdcarD?
is it really mandatory that i have my apps installed in my sd card just to have a theme? i find that ridiculous.
Until theme devs are able to compress their themes to the size needed to get it to work, it is necessary.
You can either have apps in sdcard or you can simply delete your notifications and ringtones folder.
did not have to do so much work???
so i just installed the orange crush theme and i did not have to do all of that work i did it the old way just the update.zip way and it worked at leats the icons did

well i just downloaded a theme for rc 33 and all i did was update.zip and it worked fine sooo? im i lucky or is some thing wrong
Orange crush currently isn't a full theme.
For theme's like BUUF and Vintage, this is required since they are space heavy.
Once orange crush is complete, it will most likely be the same story.

Thanks to javistanford, there's now a port for JVR roms. Go here for the details and download. Note, I haven't tested this myself so I welcome any feedback from other users. Enjoy! And thanks again to javistanford for porting it across.
Now confirmed working with new JS3 roms, like Doc's 9.1/Darky's 9.2 as well as other custom JPX/U/Y and JS3 roms.
WARNING: BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS IF YOU'RE USING TEGRAK'S KERNEL. MAKE A BACKUP! THE APPS THAT ARE PRESUMED TO CAUSE PROBLEMS ARE DIALERTABACTIVITY.APK AND PHONE.APK, SO IF YOU'RE USING THAT KERNEL, DELETE THESE TWO APPS FROM THE ZIP BEFORE INSTALLING. THIS ISSUE IS BEING INVESTIGATED.
Introducing NeonGT (NeonGreenTheme):
Hi folks, NeonGreenTheme is my first theme for Android, having done some themes for WinMo back in the day. Greets to all fellow ex-winmo skinners. Because it is my first foray into the world of Android I'm sure some things may not work 100% perfectly, but I have tried to make sure that everything works well on my device (using Spike's JPY 5.1 rom) so it should be okay on other custom JPY roms, and possibly also JPU/X roms (please test if you're feeling brave, but make a backup first).
Confirmed working with Spike's 5.1 JPY, Darky's V7.7/8.0 JPY, Insanity 0.3.1 JPY and Doc's V8.0/1 JPY.
Some information on the theme:
The aim of NeonGT is to completely theme the core interface green on black. Green because the pixels are twice as sharp as red and blue. And black because it offers the best power savings.
The big notification icons are from the WDD Reflection Icons set.
Most of the gfx have been re-worked/replaced by myself, but I still have a few to do.
4 lockscreens.
Extended power menu.
Phone with recording function.
Multi-dpi Dialer and Calculator.
Skinned Power Control Widget.
etc.
Credits:
R64 for the framework base and some great advice
Poppuri & loza100 (and Atom960i) for the phone/dialer base and for finally figuring out how to change the clock to green.
Vukandric for the generous help
dena994 for donating the second post for the theming guide.
And everyone else I'm forgetting.
To do:
Skin mms, email, twlauncher and google search.
Remove clock from Epic lockscreen, maybe.

UPDATE: 10.02.2011 - RE-RELEASED VERSION 2.5
I am hoping this will have fixed the problems with the dialer. If any app icons go missing I suspect low system space/your rom/system corruption is the culprit. Make a backup just in case! A tip: flashing Darky's Resurrection rom with repartitioning seems to work in 100% of cases with the theme.
UPDATE: 09.02.2011 - VERSION 2.5
Green clock in status bar.
Themed phone.apk - including built-in call recording.
Updated dialer.
Etc.
This is a full release, meaning all the files are in one zip. You don't need to have any previous versions installed.
Here's the disclaimer: THERE HAVE BEEN SOME RARE ISSUES WITH THE PHONE AND DIALER DISAPPEARING. I AM STILL TRYING TO TRACK THE ISSUE DOWN BUT POSSIBLE CULPRITS COULD BE a) TEGRAK'S KERNEL b) LOW SPACE LEFT ON YOUR SYSTEM PARTITION c) AN ISSUE WITH EMAIL.APK, AS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER USERS, OR d) SOME CORRUPTION ON YOUR SYSTEM. A FRESH INSTALL OF DARKY'S RESURRECTION ROM WILL FIX ANY ERRORS AND PROVIDE A CLEAN PLATFORM FOR FLASHING. I HAVE TESTED THIS PERSONALLY.
That said, please make a backup of your system before flashing!!! If you don't want to risk it then delete DialerTabActivity.apk, Phone.apk and Phone_Util.apk from the theme zip, as well as the whole /system/lib folder. Then install as usual. Or install the two files separately. Links at the bottom of this post.
Enjoy!
UPDATE: 07.02.2011 - VERSION 2.4
Buttons now have borders.
Updated statusbar icons: tethering, headset, roaming, lock, bluetooth, silent
Updated pattern, puzzle & epic lockscreens.
Changed lockscreen clock font.
Modified progress bars.
Plus a few other small gfx tweaks.
Only apply this patch if you already have 2.x installed. Enjoy!
UPDATE: 06.02.2011 - VERSION 2.3
This fixes the wifi icon error and has a few more tweaks to the lockscreens.
Only apply if you already have version 2.0/2.1/2.2 installed.
Sorry for the hassles, this should be working fine now.
UPDATE: 05.02.2011 - VERSION 2.2
Changed the wifi icon again. It's now more like the old one except sharper.
Restored clocks back to the lockscreens. Will remove just the epic one later.
Plus a few more changes to the lockscreen graphics.
Only apply this patch if you have Version 2.0/2.1 already installed.
UPDATE: 05.02.2011 - VERSION 2.1
Skinned the Power Control Widget
Removed clock from epic, glass and puzzle lockscreens
Tweaked/replaced statusbar icons: wifi, chat, sync, sdcard, sim card, error, etc.
Revised the text edit box backgrounds
Changed the notification item highlight colour
Changed chat status icons back to red + green
Tweaked menu popup graphics
Optimized the pngs some more
Enjoy. Make sure you have version 2.0 installed before flashing this update!
UPDATE: 04.02.2011 - VERSION 2.0
Black Buttons only.
Lots more changes to the core apps.
Contacts and Alarm Clock are now fully skinned.
DialerTab tweaked.
Notification bar graphics updated (the tabs are a bit lighter than I'd like, but it makes reading black notification text easier).
etc.
In the interests of time and quality, from now on I will only be updating the black button version.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But enough chit-chat. Screenshots speak louder than words:

New: NeonGT WDD Reflection LauncherPro Icon Pack added! Over 200 icons to match this theme. All credit to the original creator. I just greened them. (60x60 icons attached to this post, 128x128 version available here)
DON'T try to flash this file - it just contains png icons. Extract to your memory card then select the icons using LauncherPro.

Here's a couple of green Nexus S Boot Animations I made:
(Download links at the bottom of this post)
Also, here are a couple more animations that work well with the theme. There's this one, and this one here:
They work great, but I'm not going to package them with the theme because not all kernels support custom boot animations. Please make sure yours does before copying them over. All credits to the original creators and thanks for the tips, y0.o! and reflex9000
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
ONLY INSTALL THIS THEME ON CUSTOM ROMS. IT WILL NOT WORK WITH STOCK ROMS.
The apps include:
ClockPackage.apk
Contacts.apk
Phone.apk
DialerTabActivity.apk
JobManager.apk
MediaProvider.apk
Settings.apk
TouchWizCalculator.apk
If you don't want a certain app installed (e.g. the dialer) then simply delete it from the zip before installing.
Flash the zip using ClockWorkMod Recovery (reboot holding volume up + home key + power button). Select "Install zip from sdcard", then "Choose zip from sdcard". First boot will take some time, so be patient.
I would advise clearing cache and dalvik cache from ClockworkMod recovery first. The "clear cache partition" option is on the main menu and "clear dalvik cache" is in the "Advanced CWM features" submenu. Also, please do a backup using nandroid (this is also accessible in the ClockworkMod menu) just in case something goes wrong.
If your rom doesn't have the stock Samsung music player you can download it from here.
Don't flash the icons pack or the wallpapers, they are regular zips.
Please report any bugs and I'll try my best to fix them. Still figuring some of this stuff out so be patient and make a backup. Enjoy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO MAKE A BACKUP FLASHABLE ZIP OF YOUR CURRENT THEME:
Using 7-zip or WinRAR, take a look inside the downloaded theme zip file. In there browse to the /system/framework and /system/app folders - these are the files that get installed.
What you need to do is make a note of the file names, then go to your phone and make a copy of the same files from /system/framework and /system/app to a folder on your sdcard.
Then copy this folder over to your pc.
Make a copy of the theme zip and call it e.g. mybackup.zip. Open mybackup.zip and copy the files you've backed up into their respective folders, overwriting the ones that are already there.
Close 7-zip/WinRAR and you're done.
Backup created. You can flash it using ClockworkMod recovery.

HOW TO MAKE A THEME by JuMbA
Hi all, I've had a lot of requests for different colours. Let me briefly explain the process so you can understand the complexities involved. It may also inspire you to try it out yourself.
-------------------
Tools Needed:
Android SDK package - add the (sdkpath)/tools folder to your windows environment variable.
Version 1.3.1 (not 1.3.2) of APKTool.
Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks (or other advanced image editing software).
PSPad Editor (or other valid xml editor).
Latest version of the NeonGT theme.
PNGOptimizer.
7-zip.
Extract framework-res.apk from the theme zip file. Decompile this file using APKTool into a folder on your hard drive.
In this folder, edit the xmls in the /res/drawable-hdpi-v4/color , layout , values and drawable folders to change the theme colours to what you like. Note that if you want to recolour the other aspects of the UI such as Task Manager, Contacts, Dialer, Settings, DownloadsProvider, etc. then you will need to repeat this process with all the other .apks in the /system/app folder of the theme zip file. I cannot give detailed xml editing instructions here, but there are a lot of guides available via google.
Now onto the graphics. Take a look inside the /res/drawable-(x)/ folders. Leave all the files that end in .9.png for now, we will get to those in a bit.
You will need to recolour all the .png files, either by using automations in photoshop or batch commands in Gimp etc. so you can recolour a bunch of images at a time. However, mass recolouring is NOT advised due to subtle variations in the original icons that sometimes come out looking horrible if you do a Hue adjustment to all the files at once.
Beware though, because earlier versions of Photoshop (at least CS3) don't handle transparency in 8-bit .pngs, so you'll need to open these in Fireworks instead, or use a 3rd-party plugin like PNGOut for photoshop.
So let's say you've made it this far and have hand/batch-edited a couple of thousand images and successfully edited the colours in all the relevant .xml files. Next is to tackle the .9.png images.
These are different in that they are encoded with stretchable area information so they are able to be scaled in size without distorting the edges or gradients. I kinda like them. :O
If you open any of the decompiled .9.png images in your image editor you will notice they have a transparent 1px block around the image with some black lines. The top and left lines mark the area of the image that can be stretched and the right and bottom lines mark the space that can be occupied by the content of the image before any stretching takes place. I hope this makes sense - it will in time.
You can edit these images using the Fireworks/Photoshop method you used earlier with the regular pngs, but be 100% sure not to change the colour/transparency/lightness/brightness/etc. of the outer 1px border. This is essential or the .9.pngs will not compile. So if all you want to do is recolour the images you'll need to edit them one by one (or be handy with photoshop automations) to make sure the border remains unchanged.
At this point you may also want to run the images through PNGOptimizer to make sure they aren't too big.
Compile using APKTool. Rename the resulting framework-res.apk to .apk.zip and open with 7-zip. Delete the assets folder in the 7-zip window. Open the original theme framework-res.apk file in 7-zip and drag the META-INF and assets folders over to the other 7-zip window, adding them to the new framework-res.apk.zip. Close and rename the new file back to .apk
Oh, I almost forgot, you'll need to repeat this process with Settings.apk and twframework-res.apk.
Almost done. Make a copy of the theme zip file and rename it to (mygroovynwethemeorwhatever).zip - then open it and navigate to the /system/framework folder - drag your new framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk into this window, click OK - navigate to /system/app and drag over all your other new .apks, click OK and close 7-zip.
Pray. Flash using ClockworkMod.
looks interesting. I will give it a try on Darkys 8.0 and report back
Nice work mate. Green is my favorite colour. Will report back
wow,
I love how you themed all the images to match the idea and the image quality looks good too.
Nice work
I must say "WELL DONE"
It looks really cool, let's say "Borg - like"
And I do not like Borgs :-D
I mean the green color. But theme itself is really good. Can you make it in blue?
Will you allow me to take some parts from it, and include it (with credits) in my own theme?
I am still playing with themes, I have made few myself, few was re-constructed from other themes. Especially I like icons you have made. They are cute.
Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. I'll possibly look at other colours in future but, as I'm sure the other themers know, editing thousands of pngs takes ages. Gonna take a break once I've skinned more system apps then see what's next. fyi, the font is Calibri.
Will you allow me to take some parts from it, and include it (with credits) in my own theme?

He would have to change every single png file to make it blue, it is really hard work, especially changing. 9 pngs. So don’t expect it soon. Give the man the credit for this awesome theme first!

Thank you-GREAT theme
Tnx for the feedback. Please let me know if it's tested successfully on your rom (I'm mainly interested in JPU/X results).
Just installed the theme over darky v.8 and i love it.
1 thing though notification bar is to transparent. I see the icons trough the icons look a litle bit messie.
Sorry for my english

Cheers m8, I was wondering if it wasn't too transparent. Will make the dropdown darker.
Looks sexy, will test out after work.

Absolutely beautiful
Looks pretty awesome, was sick of everyone making blue themes
gonna download and install it right now!

OK, I see that there's a desire to try and organize some of the various battery mod posts over in dev. While I'm hesitant to start yet another battery/status bar thread, I thought this might be better to at least organize my few contributions
Currently I've only worked on KE2 and KE7. These are standalone files, in other words you will have to use adb or a root explorer to apply. I prefer adb. The download links are listed by firmware name... I have not renamed the actual files, so you don't need to rename or anything like that to put on your phone. **if using a root explorer remember to set permissions on the new file to 644 or rw,r,r**

Translucent Statusbar w/AOSP icons
This is just to give you an idea of how the translucent looks. This can be a cool look or look kinda bad depending on your wallpaper. All aosp green "fully" icons are included with this download:
KE2 translucent aosp statusbar
KE7 translucent aosp statusbar
AOSP black statusbar (same icons as above, but no translucent background)
KE2 aosp black-statusbar
KE7 aosp black-statusbar
adb usage
Adb is the preferred method to insert these. Even over flashing a zip since it's quicker. Also, it's much preferred over using a root explorer since it won't alter permissions. Here's one way to do it:
First thing is to launch terminal (mac/linux) or command (windows). Then you need to "cd" to the folder where you have the file(s) at that need to be pushed. For instance if you had framework-res.apk in your downloads folder you would type something similar to this
(windows-press enter after each line)
Code:
cd C:\Users\pendo\Downloads
Then you would see this C:\Users\pendo\Downloads>
After you "cd" to the correct folder, type the following lines pressing enter after each line
(You only need to type the "adb root" command if your boot.img is insecure and you only need to do it once per terminal session.)
To replace framework-res
Code:
adb root
adb remount
adb shell stop
adb shell mv /system/framework/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk.old
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
adb shell start
Renaming your existing file with the ".old" extension will make the system ignore it, as well as store it in a convenient place should you want to revert. To revert to the original type this:
Code:
adb root
adb remount
adb shell stop
adb rm /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb mv /system/framework/framework-res.apk.old /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb shell start
To replace SystemUI.apk
We have 2 files to rename as it has an odex. Note that it goes in the /system/app directory. Also, we need to wipe dalvik-cache for this one.
Code:
adb root
adb remount
adb shell stop
adb shell mv /system/app/SystemUI.apk /system/app/SystemUI.apk.old
adb shell mv /system/app/SystemUI.odex /system/app/SystemUI.odex.old
adb push SystemUI.apk /system/app/
adb shell rm /data/dalvik-cache/*
adb shell start
To revert:
Code:
adb root
adb remount
adb shell stop
adb shell rm /system/app/SystemUI.apk
adb shell mv /system/app/SystemUI.apk.old /system/app/SystemUI.apk
adb shell mv /system/app/SystemUI.odex.old /system/app/SystemUI.odex
adb shell rm /data/dalvik-cache/*
adb shell start
There are other subtle variations you can use to the individual commands, I just chose these for an example. For instance, I generally don't "cd" to the directory that holds my files. Rather, I'll just drag and drop them into my terminal window. Also some will just enter shell and cd to a files directory rather than call it using its full directory path.
Hopefully some of the newer people find some of this useful.
If you've found any of this useful or are enjoying my work, please don't forget the Thanks button below, or you can use the "special thanks" button right above my avatar
CREDITS/ATTRIBUTIONS
All of my workings with the circle battery can trace their roots to Fightspit's original super circle battery thread. I'm not sure if that's where they originated first, but it is where it began for me late summer 2010. Most of my early designs were either based partially, or wholly upon works in his thread. All of my present offerings are original works by me, however, they still mimic the basic designs from his thread. If anyone ever happens to run into him in a thread, make sure to pass on your thanks for helping to introduce this great mod.
I have some new work I've started that has not previously been posted. I'm going for a more blue flavor, as I really don't care for the orange highlights that android seems to favor
All of the green aosp icons in the status bar have been made blue, including my aosp battery with percent. All of the system related (and any apps that use system resources) highlight/pressed colors have been changed. Also, if you have the overscroll effect mod, this has new colors to match. I didn't do much in the way of icon theming as I'm kinda liking the subdued stock ones for the moment, but I anticipate I'll do more with that as time goes on....I'll look for feedback on that. There's not much a screenshot can tell you as the changes are pretty subtle, but here's one that at least shows the battery and wifi indicators. This is for KE7 only.
sgs2-blue.zip
Inside the zip are 3 files: framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk, and SystemUI.apk. Push framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk to /system/framework/ and SystemUI.apk to /system/app/
Black background statusbar
Both of these have solid black statusbar backgrounds but have different pull-down handles. The first file has the same handle as the above file:
download==>SystemUI.apk
The second looks like this:
hshah was kind enough to provide this screenshot:

Another quick question do these work with odexed stock roms? I'm on ke7

Gonna also make a thread for my markets here, too I think.....there's a few that are newer to android with this phone and haven't seen those yet.
I didn't know there was an official cwm out yet. I skimmed through earlier, but didn't notice. I'll have to look at it to get the proper mount commands.
Pretty much any 'ol script will "work" but without the proper mount line, you would have to manually mount /system (under mounts and storage) in order for the flash to apply.
Pendo: Does the "AOSP battery/w percent (battery only)" only change the battery icon, or also the other status bar icons?
Would like a framework.res with all AOSP icons including the AOSP battery percentage But without the translucent status bar

You can can run a deodexed apk in an otherwise odexed rom. Framework-res.apk does not have an associated odex file, and neither does twframework-res.apk. But the other apk's do have an associated odex file. Deodexing basically is repackaging the apk with the dex file inside. You just need to make sure that you either rename or remove SystemUI.odex when trying my SystemUI.apk
There is some debate as to whether an odexed rom is faster/slower than deodexed with *some* anecdotal evidence supporting either one. Honestly I'm not real up to speed with that debate. Personal opinion is that it's probably close either way, and with this device in particular I doubt one would notice any difference at all.

Ah yes....the white bar, forgot about that. This is actually caused by the white background of the app. There are other apk's that will cause this too. Depending on the apk and if it's got a title bar this can look odd. I'm personally not a huge fan of transparent statusbar's (or transparencies in general, with the exception of my market ) but it's always been a frequently requested item. I will add additional downloads that have just a solid black statusbar.
As far as removing the statusbar pull-down handle, I actually don't think I've ever seen it like that. Lol, I've just always put a handle on it. Are you using KE2 or KE7? I'll make whichever one you're using without a handle
added versions for each that have the stock black statusbar background

I have complied the original post's off all the bootanimation threads in the G2/DZ forum. Feel free to add your bootanimations to this list. Please do not ask questions in this thread. It is only intended to have final bootanimations.
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
I really like the stock G2 boot image, but without being animated, it felt very stiff and boring. So I added some animation to it. It's very simple, with the fading grey lines at the top and bottom moving to the left slowly:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(this is a low quality GIF, the actual animation looks better, I promise)
I made this mostly for myself, but it turned out better than I expected so I wanted to share it. This is my very first boot animation, so be gentle in your criticism. This is an 800x480 boot animation, so it should work on other devices with that screen resolution, though I don't know why you'd want a G2 boot screen on your Nexus One or Droid Incredible.
To use this animation, use adb or a root explorer app to put the file in /data/local and make sure it's named bootanimation.zip. The file is attached below, or you can download it from MediaFire.
UPDATE: I just finished the modified version of this boot animation that replaces the T-Mobile logo with the HTC logo. Aside from that, they're the same. The new one is attached below, or you can grab it from MediaFire.
Enjoy!

I didn't make the original work. I just modified the information so that it tailored the specs of the G2.
Code:
adb devices (optional, only to see if adb sees your phone)
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
(if this doesn't work, try pushing to /system/media also)
Now to test if it worked type:
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
<press ctrl+c to quit>
Info on BIOS is for G2.

reboot
Place android_audio.mp3 on sdcard root (change name of android_audio.zip to android_audio.mp3)
adb shell(I am assuming you are root)
enablebootsound(mine wasn't already enabled)
newbootsound
You can also use this script to install bootanimation now. ( I still prefer the old way)
place bootanimation.zip on sdcard root

Hi all. This isnt new but for those of you that havent found it yet this is the Xoom Honeycomb boot animation feel free to download. But I need assistance, after installing it when the animation ends and it is about to loop there is a quick flash to white screen and then it continues. Not too big of a deal but was wondering if anyone could help me, Im kind of a perfectionist but have no idea how to fix it myself. Thanks
Heres a vid of what it looks like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSWnKu5hr7g&feature=player_embedded
and I will attach the bootanimation.zip
For those that dont know. All you have to do is take the .zip, rename it to bootanimation.zip and copy it to the /system/media folder. Backup your old boot file if you want.
Edit: Found a ported version for the droid x that looks pretty good going to attach that. I also attached two landscape bootanimations. One has the Honeycomb Bee at the beginning and the other doesnt. Just thought you guys might want to see it.
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
****Disclaimer!!! I am not responsible for any errors or issues that may come from using these directions. This method has been tested and used by me on the T-Mobile G2 ONLY.****
Ok, I like playing with boot animations on my device. And I have this quirk for running everything I can on the device, rather than through ADB, unless I have to. While digging through assorted threads, here and abroad, I ran across a nifty app called GScript lite, free on the Market, and amazingly useful. On another thread, someone pointed out that if you copy a boot animation to /data/local, it will take precedence over any boot animations that your favorite ROM may install. So, I decided to simplify changing boot ani's, so I can swap them around whenever I feel like it. I now have it down to about 30 sec, and decided to post this for everyone interested to try it. Ok, so, here's the details;
Requirements: GScript lite, file manager, new boot animations
1) Download the animation you want to try to your SDcard
2) Copy the zip to /mnt/sdcard
3) Rename animation file "bootanimation.zip"
4) Open GScript and hit menu
a) Type in whatever you want to call the script in the top
box
b) Make sure "Needs SU?" is checked
c) Type cp /mnt/sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local
<enter>
reboot
d) Now hit "save"
5) Just press your scriptname in the list and enjoy!
From here on out, to change boot animations, all you need to do is copy the renamed file to SD root, and click on that script, phone will reboot showing your brand new animation. "Share and Enjoy!"
I'd like to thank the GScript devs for a very useful tool, and Kaanha for the commands
Click the Thanks button if this helps you.

If it doesn't work in /system/media, try in /system/local
You can also use any root explorer app to move this from your sd card manually.
DO NOT TRY AND FLASH FROM RECOVERY, IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.
Enjoy.
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
Here are some bootanimations I created. Some of these are pointless. I just made them to mess with my friends.
Im open to input, sugestions, etc....as I want to create a more smoother version.
::Instruction::
Download the zip and place it in /system/media
You should already have a file named bootanimation.zip...simply replace it with the downloaded one, of course renaming to bootanimation.zip
If it doesn't work in /system/media than
try in /system/local

You all should know the warnings, so dont bother unless you know what your doing.

::Marvel:: V1.2 (3/21/11)
This version is different from the first version. I thought the images looked better, however I had to play with them in order to get a good enough flow.
I also added an old school ending.
Thanks to al28283 for making the video, and to everyone else in the community who made these mods possible!

Thanks and have fun!

Was about to say that lol. Good work tho.
I know you probably intend to create an animation, with thoes files, but with the current setup, you could have just left it with one png and set the fps to 1 ...since there is no animation.
Cant wait to see what you crank out...feel free to share.
Goodluck.

[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
Here are four bootanimations I did.
Please be gentle, they are my first attemps.
Images:
I need help though. I find it very hard to find gifs at 480x800. Does this mean that if I have to make my own?
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
Enjoy!
btw the gif is laggier than the bootanimation because the gif has a lower framerate than what I set for the bootanimation
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
This is a port of another boot animation I saw in another thread (if anyone knows which one, let me know and I'll give the original author credit). If you want the added "fatality dun-dun-dunnnnnnn" sound, download the attached "android_audio.zip" file, unzip it, and put it in /system/media (if you're running a CM-based Gingerbread build like GingerVillain 1.5 or PyroMod 1.1, rename finishhim.zip as bootanimation.zip, put android_audio.mp3 and bootanimation.zip on the root of your SD card, and follow this guide).
*psst...this boot animation might be illegal in Australia *
[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
Hey Guys. Here is the boot animation extracted from the Destroyed ROM which, to the best of my knowledge, was only available for the EVO. I I thought it looked pretty cool so I had my friend extract it for me and I thought I'd share it with you guys. I hope you like it!
Installing:
I'm not sure how other people like to install their boot animations, however if you don't know how here is how I do it:
*Must have super user permissions
1.Download and Open Terminal Emulator from the android market
2.Download bootanimation.zip from this thread and put it on your sd card
3.Enter this code into Terminal Emulator:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cp /locationOfFile/bootanimation.zip /system/media
where the /locationOfFile/bootanimation.zip would just be the directory where you have the zip file. if you just put it on the root of your sd card it would be /sdcard/bootanimation.zip and if you downloaded it using your phone it would probably be under /sdcard/download/bootanimation.zip
restart your phone and it should work. Hope this helps!
Edit:
*Be sure to backup your old bootanimation.zip if you think you may ever want to go back to it!

[WIP] Post Your Bootanimations Here
Hello, I tried searching around but couldn't find any similar problem.
I've created my own bootanimation.zip which can be downloaded here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=576GF823 Its Red Wings Related, showing the Center Ice at Joe Louis Arena, then an awesome goal by zetterberg, then loops center ice again. That all works great.
The problem I've run into is that the first time it plays any of the animations they are slow. and when I'm only playing the goal once it goes in slow mo, if i loop it, the 2nd time it plays fast as it should. Is there anyway to fix this? I originally was just doing the goal, then the center ice on loop. I tried putting 1 center ice first, hoping it would take the lag and allow the goal to play full speed, but it doesn't.
Any help is appreciated.
Omg so kewls
I would seriously enjoy a boot animation done with the Android Police video Intro.

Voltron Force!!!!! 11
Voltron Force http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207156
Something I did and posting for share. What we have here are 28 color themes for the stock Samsung keyboard (14 themes to the auto-correction stock Samsung keyboard, and 14 themes to the non auto-correction stock Samsung keyboard. PNG (9.png) color/shading enhancements to the grey stock keyboard to now include various color keys and color key frames.
Inspiration: After seeing some of the stellar themes from forum member “AddisG”, I started dissecting the keyboard apk and playing around with some pretty basic theming… but (IMO) improvements to the all grey stock keyboard. Hit his thanks too… and check out his work.
NOTE: tested on CleanROM ACE v4.9 & v4.8 (N7105XXDMC3), CleanROM ACE v4.7 (N7105XXDMB6), CleanROM ACE v4.6.1 (N7105XXDMB3), CleanROM ACE v4.5 (N7105XXDMA8). Flashable ZIPs used are Scrosler's "Empty Flashable Zip_Note2" file.. these updater scripts/binary have worked on all CleanROM versions I've used since 3.5. I suspect they will also work on other ROMs, but I have not tested.
Keyboard function:
Auto-Correct keyboard
Non Auto-Correct keyboard
Keyboard themes:
GREY KEYS with 5 color key borders (blue, green, yellow, orange, red) against a contrasting dark keyboard background.
BLACK KEYS with 6 color key borders (blue, green, yellow, orange, red, white) against a contrasting grey keyboard background.
BLUE KEYS against a contrasting dark grey keyboard background.
RED KEY against a contrasting dark grey keyboard background.
GREEN KEY against a contrasting dark grey keyboard background.
Zip files attached:
Keyboard_Images.zip (contains all the keyboard image samples)
28 themed keyboard zips. IMPORTANT: each one of these 28 zips contain the SamsungIME.apk (for those who wish to install via Root Manager and alike…. contain the modified PNG files for those who wish to play around with further theming…. and contain the Installable zip for those who wish to flash install from custom recovery).
You’ll need to unzip any of these 28 themed keyboard zips to get to the samsungIME.apk, PNGs, and/or the Flashable install zip files.
From the sample images attached, you’ll also notice that certain apps which use the stock keyboard will also reflect the theme (in attached example, my Lux Auto Brightness app shows the themed keyboard in it’s menu settings screen).
In case you wish to make your own alterations of keyboard colors/ shading/ backgrounds, the files which were modified:
/res/drawable-sw359dp-land-xhdpi folder:
qwerty_keypad_bg.png (landscape keyboard background)
/res/drawable-sw359dp-xhdpi folder:
qwerty_keypad_bg.png (portrait keyboard background)
sip_key_bg_normal.9.png ( key color/shading)
sip_key_bg_option.9.png ( key color/shading)
sip_key_bg_presses.9.png ( key color/shading)
How to Install:
1. Make a copy of your current active SamsungIME.apk (found in /system/app ) and put it in a safe place (in case you wish to revert back). Do
NOT move or rename the active file.. just copy it and store in a safe location (i.e., on ExtSD or your computer).
2. Make a Nandroid / Backup just in case
3. Install (2 options):
a. flash via Recovery: copy desired FlashableZIP to phone… boot to custom recovery… wipe cache… flash ZIP
b. copy desired themed SamsungIME.apk to phone storage
i. from phone, use Root Explorer (or any root file manager) and copy SamsungIME.apk to /system first… and reset permission to rw.r..r..
ii. move the fixed permission file from /system to /system/app (replace current SamsungIME.apk)
4. Reboot and enjoy
posting a few example images... rest are in the "Keyboard_Images.zip"

Hi Doc, I tried this on JediX by copying the existing samsungime.apk and pasting (new filename with copy in the name). I then extracted the blue theme apk, copied it into /system/app after deleting the existing file and set permissions. I keep getting FCs - android keyboard has stopped. I tried rebooting and then deleted the copied file and renamed the original file back to SamsungIME.apk and set permissions on it. However, I keep getting the error when I had zero problems before. I even went to recovery, wiped cache/dalvik and reinstalled JediX right over the existing. I still get errors. I tried going into language and input to change some settings hoping to reset things but no luck. Any ideas? I'd rather not setup everything all over again although I assume it will be perfectly safe to use TB to restore missing apps when backed up from and restored to the same ROM.

I just installed the blue-framed apk and working perfect for me. I always copy the new apk to /system first...and fix permissions to RW-R--R-- THEN move from /system to /system/app and replace...then reboot. If that doesn't work, you can always put the new apk in an empty flashable zip [in the /system/app folder]. Scrosler [Scott] has one posted. Hope you get it sorted out. Try fixing permissions in /system first...then move.
@RickMD: I re-read your post and I think one possible problem might be how you renamed the original SamsungIME.apk. If you renamed it "SamsungIMEcopy.apk" you'll have FCs... I always rename the suffix (i.e., "SamsungIME.apkCOPY"). So try this:
1. copy the new blue-framed SamsungIME.apk" to your external
2. move from external to internal /system (not /system/app yet).
3. fix permissions to RW-R--R-- (in the /system folder)
4. move to /system/app folder
5. delete or move the file that you added 'copy' to (again, not sure how you renamed it)
6. reboot.
If that works, next time you want to try a new keyboard:
1. copy (don't rename or move) the active SamsungIME.apk to external (in case you wish to revert)
2. copy new SamsungIME.apk to /system, and fix permissions
3. move from /system to /system/app (when you do this, it will ask "overwrite existing file", answer Y)
4. reboot.
Never rename or move an ACTIVE system file, or you will get FCs.
