Other hologram than the diamond one? - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hi everyone.
I have downloaded and tried the diamond hologram-app on my HD and it works, but I guess I'm not the only one that finds the graphics and design of the app not that nice.
I remember seeing a demo somewhere on a hologram featuring a 3D game-like character that looks like it's standing on top of the screen.
Any one knows what this might be? I remember that it was demoed on some kind of smartphone handset.
Thanks.

Do you mean the 3D Model Viewer (works on HD too)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428608&highlight=3d+model+viewer

Thanks for the link, pretty cool program but no, that wasn't the one I'm after.
The one I'm after shows a figure and uses the G-sensror to render it in a way that makes it look like its standing on top of the screen.
Something more like this:

I'm not sure if I am to laugh at your sarcastic joke or is it your ignorance! Anyways it is funny either way.
If it is a sarcastic joke: LOL
If it is your ignorance: LOL >>> FYI: that was a hoax video, the producers of the video were having fun. There is no such technology yet that can allow light to refract in midair without a medium (fog, screen). Thanks for the laugh, I truly don't mean to make fun of you at all but it is funny. Sorry.

That was the illusion of holographic refraction, wasn't it? Looks interesting.

Hmm.. I think it's you who don't understand, or is ignorant. First of all. I don't care if that video is a real app that looks that nice ore a fake one. I wasn't asking for that exact app, but something I saw that LOOKS LIKE that app.
The truth is that you CAN make an app that LOOKS lika a hologram, but exactly like it does in the video, the concept falls as you turn the phone too much sideways thus revealing that the thing is just graphics on the screen.
Maby you haveto realize what is possible with G-sensor and graphics before you start making such comments.
If that video is fake, it's a really good one because the graphics are never shown outside the screen. And if you suggest that it is a video played on the ihpone-screen, so bee it. But if it is, that allso means that it is totally possible to write an app that looks exactly that way that uses the G-sensor to change the viewing angle of the 3D-graphic-character. I've seen much worse where you really see that the graphics arn't actually displayed on the screen. This for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jxDd4NCaqc&feature=PlayList&p=AC6FE70E3DF98090&playnext=1&index=6
I don't know why I put so much time into answering your stupid remark, but I just couldn't let your ignorance win.

I don't think all movies are real holograms, but this one looks pretty real:

Lets leave the childish behaviour in the playground shall we!!!
@Sideburnt - Why ask a silly question like 'You look a bit nobbish in your avatar'? Was there any need for that? Keep that attitude up and your one step away from being banned!!
This is a community based are sharing knowledge where people have the freedom to express views and opinions on phone related topics, not on avatars and peoples names. Lets leave the childish behaviour in the playground shall we and get back to doing what we enjoy most....playing with our phones!!

Once again Spartan takes the high ground, when I stupidly get annoyed by the school bully being mean to the new kid and retaliate by knocking the bully's lunch on the floor... When will I learn?
WTF?
Stop fooling around guys, this thread is really good.
I suggest erasing this one and making a new one with the same topic.
I would also like to know if anyone came across some good stuff...
I am personally checking almost every day if there is something new.
But still nothing that is that much of interest.
Lately it was PointUI2 - I really like it but I am gonna stick with SPB Mobile Shell 2 for some time. But PointUI is really nice and has good functions.
So who's next?
Anyway way back to topic, anythink interesting for touch HD that stays interesting for more than 5mins. I would recommend Music ID and the default youtube app
Music ID = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439974
Fairplay. The least I can do is make a constructive addition to this thread.
And that is.... Drum roll.... PDAcraft paint http://www.pdacraft.com/paint.php
A very cool little a painting/drawing app that works on the HD. Hours of fun

A better question might be, what exactly do you want your phone to do?
Other than the built in stuff, (the camera, the mp3 player, video player and internet tablet... is there something more that youare after?
GRemote: is **** hot... allowing you to control media player on your PC.
Music ID: is essential if you have even a passing interest in music.
An RSS reader: to have all your news delivered to your phone just in time for breakfast and/or lunch breaks.
"MYplayer": is worth a try if you are having trouble with the getting iplayer to work.
omniano: is good for a laugh, but without multi touch very limited
S2P: is nice to flick through your album covers...
Google maps and live search maps: do what they say on the tin.
Also Microsoft voice commander is quite fun... at times even useful.
Microsoft Recite is good too - a dictaphone with speech search (altho not touchscreen which is annoying).

hey guys !! how is it going ???
hoooooooly cow, whoa there, just whoa.
seriously buddy, I wasn't ripping into you you started off with a pretty mundane post and in my infinate bordeom I wrote a simple lame observation and then had fun with it, and as for the others jumping in suggesting that I get banned, thats...thats insane thats not 'attitude' your reading its light heartedness quit jumping on the 'troll TROLL TROLLL!!!' bandwaggon its overreactive and very offputting to those of us who enjoy this forum and want to inject a little humanity into it.
Anyway this has surprisingly turned into a semi interesting post;
QuickMark http://www.quickmark.cn/En/basic/index.asp has been fun, it scans in barcodes and you can link it to a central database such as upcdatabase.com, it can re-encode QR codes into url's and contact information etc. great fun to make your own QR/Barcodes.
Scrobble http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474373 is so far the best port of Scrabble on the WM platform, the guys done a cracking job and allowed custom dictionaries to be used.
I think Xtract has been mentioned, I lovely little game, but painfully short and easy.
Fair enough mate, you clearly didn't mean to offend the guy. That's the problem with making jokes in writing. It's very easy to missinterpret. If you look back at what you initialy said, you can see why we might of thought you were just being out of order rather than tounge in cheek.
Anyway, apologies if I reacted a little harshly myself. I got a bit carried away

WP7S promotional video shows HD2!?

Is this HD2 or not, seems like HD2 when the kid is playing Xbox live games?
Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV16Ff0cFb0
Source:
http://pockethacks.com/windows-phone-7-series-promotional-video/
dont know, but for me it really looks like a HD2, but not only the handy of that kid, watch 0:35, dads handy looks like a HD2 too, cause u see the same camera xD
but yea, it just looks like
I think the hardware props used in the commercial are pretty inconsequential. HD2 probably just looks good on camera, so they used it.
That commercial really sucks though. MS better be trying to make better and more affective commercials than Apple. If WP7S is such a different phone, then turn down the background music and have someone explain how great and different it is! That commercial didn't make windows phone look appealing whatsoever
Yeah Microsoft really just needs to show the phone's UI and show what all the hubs can do in commercials.
Also I think it would be funny if they did a commercial saying there's a phone for that. Need to take high resolution picture? There's a phone for that. Need a keyboard to type faster? There's a phone for that. What a large screen with big text for easy reading? There's a phone for that!
@Kloc lmao.
pretty neat feature how the screen is projected into thin air. kinda like a hologram thing. thats really the only benefit im seeing that WP7 has to offer over other phones and OSs available today.
but on a more serious note...
WhyBe... i completely agree with you about the commercial. the iphones greatest selling point is the huge amount of apps available for it. so thats the main spear in their marketing campaign... an iphone ad is pretty much just an appstore ad - mainly speaking of TV commercials.
this commercial for WP7 has little-to-no information about the OS/features that distinguish it from other smart phones (and some non-smart phones) currently available.
It looks nice... But it doesn't look like the HD2 I own...
Anyone has pink glasses, maybe i'll see it then?

VR Hologram for Android?

Had this on my Diamond and wondered if there was anything available similar. I have checked myself on the net but so far couldn't find anything.
Maybe someone could create one.
i was looking for the same thing, but i geuss nobody has done it yet.
to bad, it would be really cool to have somthing like that.
Re VR Hologram
Yes, loved it on my Diamond.
Come on guys, someone must be able to create one.
no disrespect, but i'm geussing it might be a lot more difficult then it sounds or looks.
i'm really NOT a computer-specialist, but it sounds really difficult to create a software that can do the things this program can do.
i mean, it checks your movement, it calculates the motion, it adjust the picture, etc.etc. and all of that on several levels.
maybe it's just not doable.
I'm sure integrating the accelerometer and the Compass, that can be achieved.
Interesting, but then what ? I mean, would this application be useful in some way ? orientation+accelerometer and some math *_*

yeah, like there are no widgets or apps that are useless, but just fun.
i've got a few apps that don't do anything, except something a bit funny.
does it have to be usefull?
i've got quake 3 on my phone, is that usefull?
it's just cool to show that your phone can do that, besides that VR program (which they had running on the htc diamond) looks really cool.
it has no purpose, but it just looks awesome.
but perhaps it's just way to difficult to port a windows mobile app to android.
This thing? What's the point?
I want!!
..
It's called cgPerspective
I almost was worrying that nobody would ask for it.
I loosely ported the application to Java and OpenGL, you can find it on the market as cgPerspective. (cgPerspective)
I would appreciate feedback in how I could enhance it even more.
Thanks
Excellent stuff

do you know of 1 single app that shows a really cool virtual show off wath a phone like this can do with visual entertainment?
there is none.. except for this thing.
there is no app that uses it's possibilities, and no game that does.
still, it's possible, but apparently nobody ever though that visual beauty would work great in games (ooh wait, they do, but no programmer for phones ever thought of it...).
so it's an awesome app to just show you what can be done.

looks great dude, awesome.
but i wonder why it reacts a bit sluggisch...
there's this tiny delay between the movement of the phone and the movement of the image.
to bad i can't zoom in or out.
but still, it looks great.
it's almost the thing that i was searching for.
oh so cool!!
any more ports of iphone 3d hologram apps?
There are so many wonderful hologram apps for the iphone, those must be possible to make for the iphone too right?
looking forward to see them in the marketplace
cgperspective works like a charm on my Desire..

VR live wallpaper:
where can I download this? It is awsome..
Heh, that is really neat!! Thanks for doing it. The only thing that could make it even better is if you could add a zoom feature. I have the HTC Desire.

VR Hologram running on my HTC Touch HD... I think, an Android-version would be great!

App that augments what is shown on the screen to match corrective lenses...possible?

Full disclosure: I'm a bit loopy after getting my wisdom teeth out, so I may not be thinking straight, but I have a quick question about an app idea (I'm assuming this would be the correct place to post). I have no idea if something like this is possible, but could an app be created that mimics the functionality of corrective lenses? As in, if you specify whatever your eyesight is, something other than 20/20, could the app augment the way things are shown on the display to compensate for that? Physics is probably working against me here, but I figured someone on XDA would know if this could be done.
Personally I have horrible vision and I can look at the camera and see perfectly fine since it makes the image all of a foot away instead of the twenty feet that it really is... I hope that makes sense to others.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
That is true...I guess this wouldn't be very useful since the phone will be close to the person using it
So you're wanting an app that makes the phone and it's fonts do the correctiveness.. This would be cool, and should be possible for very basic eye problems, but the dev may have to assume both eyes are equally weak or the same prescription, but allow customizing per person.
The dev may have to be savvy on optimity.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I don't really know how to do it, it was just an idea
I think it would be cool.. You know how some far-sighted users can barely read anything at arm's reach.. Like they need longer arms.
It would be cool...the question is, is it possible?
I was thinking, with all the high-res pc screens being around for so long, and a pc app like this has not been created, yet, I don't think this would be possible on the lower resolution if the phones.
Another reason this may not work [well], it's that my father-in-law used to use a manual-focus camera and film. During his final years , he continued to shoot pics without his eye glasses and he would focus to his naked eye. The end result was a blurry pic that even looked burry to him.
I write this example to sample the complexity of the issue.
I think this is possible, but terribly complex from person to person. I may have access to a doctor at work for their feed back.

Scalado

Another new innovation from Scalado, cannot wait to start using this app....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flNomXIIWr4&feature=player_embedded
I am curious about the quality of the picture.
After removing people would it still be 5mp?
Ooh this looks promising!
I will ask my brother about this, he's actually a developer at Scalado!
*EDIT* He happended to call right after I wrote this, and yes the full resolution will be intact! Scalados' idea is to sell in their applications to companies rather than as separate apps, so hopefully we will see this implemented in phones in the future!
And stay tuned for more info at MWC

Looks like a fantastic idea. Would definitely get this app even if I hardly take photos. Conceptually it looks sound, but I wonder how far they've actually got with the app as I would assume the video is just a concept they pieced together.

And I don't know if I would call it an app, really, since it propbably won't come as a stand alone app for download.
