Anyone found this feature on their old Wizard, when you made a handwritten note, that you could afterward get it recognized and have it in text? Worked a lot more precise than transcriber too! I had this feature in my wizard with the old original O2-Germany-ROM..it was quite useful, as you could scribble down a number, get it recognized, copy&paste and create a contact
anyone know how to get it into the hermes? I've never seen this feature mentioned anywhere in the forums over the last 2 years or so..?
anyone know about it at all?
oh, and why does the writing recognition suck so much? some tablet-pc make an excellent job of recognizing the worst scribbles..400Mhz should be more than enough for some good recognition shouldn't it?
This is exactly what I'm looking for as well. So I felt to bump it. Help us, oh, might community of neverending wisdom!

hi everone,
i was wondering if there is a program on hermes that is like one note on the desktop. i mean with rich features.
the best one i found was creative notes, but i need more functionality.
any suggestions?
thanks
MMM
Guess onenote for ppc doesn't cut it for you then.
Any particular functionality you have in mind, or do you just want it to do stuff?
Edit: Upon reading it, that post sounded really sarcastic. It was only meant to be kinda sarcastic and kinda asking for more information so I might help.
if you used one note on desktop pc you will know what i mean. i mean that it organizes notes under major categories and also by date.
sorry if i wasnt clear in the first post
MMM
Verenaa,
Larsuck was trying to tell you that one note also exists for the ppc/pda. So if you like it that much on your PC you can also get it for your portable PDA.

Apologies if this appears elsewhere but I have looked without success. If it does then a link to the solution would be great.
Basically I found this site a few weeks ago and since then have been tinkering with my phone. I've tried various roms, added different programs, played about with the settings and so on. Today I have finally got it just how I want it. It is overclocked to run quickly but safely. The today screen is perfect. It contains everything I need including my huge list of contacts. And my theme is spot-on. However usually in life when everything is right something big and hairy appears out of nowhere and dumps on you. Its got to the point where I panic every time I turn it on just in case it crashes and I need to start all over again.
My question therefore is if anyone knows of a utility (or can give detailed instructions) to completely back up the phone. Right down to the user settings, theme and contacts. If possible maybe even to create a rom image of my phone so that if it does ever crash I can reinstall the whole thing from one simple file. I assume this sort of thing must be possible because Kavana and Ricky produce such wonderful roms with various programs, etc pre-installed.
Can it be done? And if so - can it be done by an enthusiastic amateur or do you need to be a tech guru? I should add I don't mind paying if I need to buy a piece of commercial software to achieve this.

Did you even bother to search google for "smartphone backup" ? The very first link that comes up, takes you right to the software you say you need. I apologize for being harsh, but I hate the lack of common sense...
An option
Not sure about the cooked 6.1 Roms. Maybe someone else might know or have tried.

I use this and it's well worth it.
if u just mean the saved registry values and what not u can always export the registry so that way if u have to hard reset the phone or if a new amazingly wowlike rom is released and u NEED to flash u can always import the registry values of the chomes and it'll be the way u left it (thats what I do for my myfaves and my programs)

No problem, and you are entitled to your opinion. however its replies like that which stop people making posts to forums like this. Everyone has to start somewhere, and one man's obvious "common sense" answer is another man's dilemma.
As for using google... yep I could have done that but google links to hundreds of pages, some owned by people trying to sell software which obviously means they won't be objective. Others have methods which could damage a phone and because I don't know the writers how do I know which methods to trust? Ergo I decided to come to site I know, with people whose technical knowhow I trust, and to search the forum and then ask them for advice. To me, that is common sense. Isn't that one of the reasons that places like this exist? So non techheads can ask guys like you for help?
No offence intended and, for what its worth, you are one of the guys whose advice on this forum has helped me countless times. So thank you for that no matter what. Without your posts I'd never have got this far in the first place! I mean that.
As for the other replies... thanks guys. I will look into the registry stuff. And I will certainly check out the software link. If I do find some info on google, I hope you folks will help me pick the best method to use and avoid bad advice.
Thanks again.
GS
Okay the Sprite software is perfect. And now I've checked it out maybe my question was a stupid one. Still, its nice to have a recommendation from an independent source. I've been burnt in the past by bad google advice.
Sorry if I've wasted anyone's time.

Hey guys I noticed this this morning while doing a calculation. I am using the stock calculator that came with my Droid Incredible. I've not done any rooting or anything like that. When I enter 365.2 - 358.8 I get the total of 6.3999999999 instead of 6.4 like I should.
Is anyone else getting such calculations?
I've not been able to reproduce this using any other combination of numbers, although occasionally it will produce a something like this: instead of saying 3.4 it will say 3.4000000000. It doesn't do it to every value, but occasionally.
Any thoughts?
Wow, that is just FREAKY!! Same thing on mine! Guess I shouldnt use it for math class huh!
It just has something to do with how computers calculate math. Almost all computers will have problems with some calculations, for example, if you go to Google.com and type in something like 1-.9999999 or 999999999999999-999999999999998 it will give you a wrong answer. But yeah, lol, I wouldn't use this phone on tests or homework unless you don't have anything else around.

Well for what it's worth, 6.3999999~ is the same thing as 6.4
That is true about the rounding. I was actually heavily tempted to remove the stock calculator if I found find a better version on the Market.
Oh, and just for comparison sake, the stock calculator on the Moto Droid displays it correctly as 6.4
RealCalc Scientific Calculator in the Market works great.. and it gives you that 6.4 you are looking for..
On a serious note, I use handy calc, it's really nice and can graph functions too
The stock calc apparently has no way to save to memory... Kind of weird even for a very basic calculator.
If it does via some weird keystroke, I have never figured it out.
Try doing a trig function on the calculator...
Its USELESS.
Well, if you've memorized radian conversions, you can possible use it, but, its like needing an abacus to use a calculator...not worth it.
Why they didn't set it to use DEGREES for angles is beyond me...and there doesn't appear to be an option of switching it either.
Any of you geniuses figure out a way to make it work, ....
...or is the phone's calculator just a fake feature, and I should just down load one that works?

Divide all results by zero.
LOL
That's tooooo funny. Makes you wonder if a simple calculator program can't do that math correctly, what else is going on behind the scenes.
Could this be a clue to the mysterious battery drainage problem under Android?
So here's what I got from HTC when I filed a ticket over it:
***********************
Dear Teesh,
Thank you for contacting us about this problem in the calculator application. I actually had one other email about this with another person several months ago, and what we determined was that it was an Android issue. I tested the math on one each of every Android phone we have and was able to recreate the issue. I also, when I was not at work, tested it with a friend's Android device that was not an HTC phone; same result. It appears to be something in the way that the base Android calculator is written; I sent the information up to the proper departments to see what could be done about it, but once the request goes up I don't get any direct response to it. I will again send up the information just in case; I remember posting on the code.google.com page about it when it happened, although I can't find that post now. Interestingly, if the remainder is greater than or equal to .5 it will show the correct answer. I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced, and I hope that it is something resolved in the near future.
To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 10USCW39ENA000982.
Sincerely,
Philip

This may seem like something of a longshot, but I figured it was worth asking. I don't know about anyone else but I would personally love to be able to change the voice prompt word on google now to something other than well....google. I would like to name it like, Kelly, or Sheila, or just about anything other than saying google every time. If anyone thinks this can be done I would love to hear some ideas as I will be working on figuring it out as well!!
This is the one instance where I think "computer" would be perfect.

or even droid, or nexus, or android, or anything lol....just not google. I just think to myself, if iPhone users were like ....Apple, whats the weather like? Just seems very bland.
I've also been waiting for someone to hack this (or s-voice or any of the others) to respond to "computer". I figure it's only a matter of time.
Bonus points if confirmation prompts can be responded to with "make it so".
seeing as this is just the first version of their Siri-type functionality, I am sure there will be advancements, features and funny responses added in due time. They always seem to make things easier to use as time goes on.
speaking of funny response.... after saying google, say : do a barrel roll
HAh, it does a barrel roll! I love easter eggs.
Jarvis
Every time I watch Iron Man or Avengers, I want my phone/tab to respond to Jarvis.
Hopefully when this hack is implemented, someone will post it here.
The ONLY thing that makes me even think about buying a wildly overpriced Windows 8 tablet is the ability to use OneNote. The sad part is that S-Note is just so damned close to being a OneNote killer app but it seems like Samsung got 80% of the way there and JUST QUIT.
Let's start with the unreadable .snb standard. As far as I can tell, even .snb readers for Windows can't read it. Unless you export your S-Notes as .pdf''s you are pretty much screwed being able to view them on your Desktop. So why would Samsung choose such an obscure standard with zero compatibility? Next can we talk about Templates? How hard would it be for Samsung to include a Template Editor so the grown-ups can create and save their own Templates instead of being forced to use the few Samsung thinks we all want? How about being able to create and save typing styles? How about being able to restart voice recording on a previously created S-Note? How about being able to embed a recording within a specific spot in your S-Note? If I can embed a video why can't I embed a recording? One of the best things about OneNote is being able to search on written text. Samsung, any ideas on that? How about being able to place a typing cursor just by clicking the screen where I want it? How about automatically typing around pictures instead of over them? How about being able too cut and move blocks of text?
So much about S-Notes just doesn't seen done to me, but as far as I can tell, those crazy Koreans at Samsung think it's perfect as is.
Please Samsung, I don't want to buy a Windows 8 tablet but you are forcing my hand.
** I am hoping that the new Awesome Note app coming with the Note 8.0 will solve some of these issues assuming we'll be able port it to our Note 2.

Why don't u do the work and forward the post that you wrote here to Samsung ... you have a better chance of it happening i if you were to send your recommendations to Samsung ... Not many on here work for Samsung I am guessing ....
Maybe they just don't have creative people on this app. ... maybe they would give you something as a reward. .. never know until you try ... or you could learn Java code your own app and instant profit

Awesome idea! Please give me the personal email of the Head of S-Note Development at Samsung and I'll get right on that. While you are at it, link me to the Samsung Support Forums on their website - oh that's right, Samsung doesn't have Support Forums.
I'm so happy a super-connected guy like you came along to solve the problem.
Also, I really should have bought a Java book and rewritten the entire S-Notes app myself as you suggest. I'm so dumb. I could have made millions!

Why don't you do a search finding samsungs emails isnt that hard. Or you could just keep stomping your feet and crying about it. That's really productive. samsungs forum's aren't on samsung.com but Google can tell you how to find em if you actually, you know, searched.
Edit: just cuz I'm feeling nice http://developer.samsung.com/forum/en took all of 2 seconds searching "samsung + forum" on teh googlez
I like to break stuff!
