hi. I went to the bootloader screen and I updated my Blueangel. and then i pressed the record and camera buttons and could see the options and then pressed the messaging button but then it gets stuck at the white screen. I can go back to the serial mode update my rom again buit it doesnt change the outcome. Ive read all the posts about mtty with the bootloader ect. I have also tried different ROM downloads but all the ones i try dont work. Any help is appreciated. My parents are being dicks and won't let me use the insurance we have set up cause it costs 50 dollars oh whipppeee thats a lot huh. anyways i cant get another phone so i need to figure this out. Anyone have any ideas?
Did you cooked you own rom? If so, your rom is too big. Try to upgrade to an already made rom or downgrade to wm2003 and try again.
ha i got it taken care of.. i called verizon and theyre sending me a new one for free because its a "software problem" haha my current one had a few scratches on it so were all good!..thanks for your help though lgsilva

First off, this kind of thing is one of the reasons M$ cracked down on the site with it's custom ROMs IMO, people causing the carriers too much grief and money replacing phones with corrupted ROMs that the carrier did not provide.
Second, Verizon is CDMA, not GSM. The only WM5 ROM available is for GSM, not CDMA. That's probably why you messed up your phone.

Oh, that's original, calling me names.
My point still stands. That kind of thing is probably a large factor of why the carriers complained to microsoft and why microsoft cracked down on sites such as this.
Thanks for being part of the problem.
So my GNEX is arriving tuesday the 7th and I wanted to know what are the first things I need to do once I place my AT&T sim in it. I have unlimited data provisioned for the HSPA+ ( from my SGS2) so anything I need to add, or change on my account or phone settings? Also what do I download to find out which version I have Yaku or otherwise?
The very first thing I would do with a new device is to check for any defects.
Dead pixels, dim lights, blue/purple colour screens, working buttons/touch (no random touch responses), correct volume. You can use GN offcial update checker (I think that's the right name) from the market to check the version of your phone.
And if you plan on putting custom roms and stuff on it unlock the bootloader before you start putting stuff on it or it will all just get deleted again
i will probably root and unlock the boot just in case I want to add roms. Will do on the checks as I always do is that the correct name for the app to check which firmware its running?
Get a good screen protector.
Back up your EFS
I have also recived my GSM unlocked GN today, can someone please send me a page with informtion WHY i should boot and unlock and root and all thos stuff and then another page of HOW to to it in a safe way without getting my phone ****ed up. Thank you very much. A Personal Massage will be even better.
I dont wanna open a new topic
You should unlock your phone before you save any data on it, why? because it will erase everything you have saved on the phone when you unlock.
Why do you want root? you can backup all your data then before flashing a custom rom at a later date.
As to how, i was planning on doing a little tutorial sometime today as i found all the info i needed scattered in about 3-4 different posts on various websites.

This. Once you start rooting/ROMing - you realize just how much more you can squeeze out of a device. They're all made within certain parameters - certain tolerances. What ships is in a very "safe" area. Kind of like all cars in the country shipping to California emission codes. They're held back in performance to make the safest, most stable device you can buy -- the phones that is ;-) . There's nothing really wrong with staying stock. You just aren't getting all you can. There's a really good tool for unlocking, rooting and backing up things here on XDA. It's what I used. Just follow the instructions to the letter -- and read, read, READ everything you can before doing it. Once you're rooted - and have a custom recovery - make a nandroid (just the term used for "backup") -- in case a future ROM flash messes up. It's not impossible - but REALLY, actually bricking your phone is fairly rare. Bootloops (where the startup screen starts over and over) is NOT bricked -- if you can get into your recovery and flash your nandroid backup - you'll be fine.

Yes, better safe then sorry. You really should spend the extra money, even up to $25 dollars worth to get a quality screen protector. The most common issues right now with screen protector is the ability to cover the screen, and the orange peel effect. Right now, XO skins is your best bet for a wet install, and I've heard some good things about martin fields.
sorry borrow your thread awhile, I'am gonna to buy this phone but no stock now @@
and today I saw magazine discuss about this phone, and the author of the magazine say that got quite a lot people report that galaxy nexus get random reboot, even on standby mode on stock ROM
furthermore, after upgraded to 4.0.2 also still got bug, haven't fix all
and also for the volume, this one I heard and know before, which download volume+ to fix
so, there are the problem which make me hold on to buy Galaxy Nexus now
*I know there no 100% perfect things on this world, but I just don't want the randomly reboot, this things very annoying since on my current phone which is LG optimus one
should I go for it ??
Looking to remove all bloat/Rogers crapware.... Better battery/performance always appreciated. I just got the phone today, I'm about to look around.... But if anyone can suggest a rom, I'd appreciate it
Thx
Anyone? Thx
Well theres not a whole lot of ROMS yet and Diet ICS is partly based off the Rogers rom so if you wanted to try a ROM I'd say try Diet. However, I'd suggest rooting your device and just removing bloat yourself for now.
Do you have a new thread up on redflag yet about the Rogers model you have? I read your i9100 last year and i9300 this year.
You probably know this but the i9300 has a lot more development at the moment so don't be shocked seeing only a few roms here and there. It will take time as it always does on the variants.
Not yet, I just grabbed this device last night because the price was right.... I just unlocked it now.... Now Rogers boot screen, so I guess it's just uninstalling apps? I'll give that a go, thx

Yours has a Rogers boot screen when you boot the phone up? I got mine at launch and it doesn't have any boot screen other than the Samsung screen that comes up. Just curious if in fact it does have Rogers branding during boot.
The problem right now flashing ROMs is that really only the AT&T ones work and you may end up losing the ability to turn off LTE since AT&T removed that ability. Also, you may end up with AT&T boot screen. I gotta tell you, I love LTE but I hate variants. lol. Miss my i9300 but don't miss the HSPA only connection which was very slow downtown

Do you know any themes with 1% battery that will work on Diet ICS since this rom does not come with 1% battery ...
Hello XDA community.
I really am very frustrated and in need of you help.
TO make story short - i bought this phone and don't know what it is (version) how i can use it (as a cell phone) besides the internet
Samsung Galaxy Note 2: GT-N7100 - What type is this? I think it does not belong to any US carrier (AT&T, T-mobile preferred)
The most important question is if I can use it with T-mobile network?
I tried to follow the unlocking method posted on this forum *#972....#, but no menu showed up.
Please help me - I need all the information i can get.
Thank you
The GT-N7100 is the international version of the Galaxy Note 2..
What problems (in detail) are you experiencing?
I'm using mine on the UK t-mobile network
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
As the previous poster said, what you have is the international version of the Galaxy Note 2. That being the case it is not locked to any particular carrier. All it needs is a SIM card to make it work as a phone. Yes, it will work with T-Mobile (I have the same phone and I use it on T-Mob) although you could use it on AT&T if you wish.
Depending on what part of the country you're in, you may or may not get consistent 3G or HSPA performance with T-Mob because of slight frequency differences with your phone's radios. I get HSPA+ performance where I live, but if I drive a mile or so east, I only get EDGE speeds.Drive a few more miles, and I'm in HSPA+ territory again. Go figure.
Don't overworry about it. You have a great smartphone, and eventually T-Mobile's network will catch up with it.
Please more help

Thank you guys/Gal...
I am a little better now, but still very very confused.
Now that i know it is international version and will still work with t-mobile 4g - But VERY SLOW - I don't mind since I only use Wifi at home and work.
What i worry now is I put in my T-mobile sim card, and there still nothing showing up. The network does not work.
Any help please.
Don't know if it help, when i bought this phone it already has Super User -that mean they might have Rooted it.
Please help me
Can you try some other sim cards to see if they register? It might be network locked.. I take it you purchased it secondhand?

You're sure it's a legit Galaxy Note 2 and not one of the clones that are being sold?
Especially sine you say it's pre-rooted and you give us no details about where you purchaed it from.
What does the output of *#1234# give you? Please post a screenshot, or detail everything it says. Don't reply with "it shows some things"

First of all, thank you all so much for your help.
here are things
1) i bought this from a guy second hand.
2) these are info in the device (about phone), Model GT-N7100, Android Version: 4.1.1, Baseband version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V7.P3, 2012/12/27 1.22; Kernel version 3.0.13 1217 v5 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jan 9 2013; Builder Number ALPS.Mod_by_vacation team; Custom build version 1356496656
3) I think this phone was Rooted because i see the Super User logo in it. Also i believe it was installed with Custom Rom due to the information in the about section
4) i decided to Unroot the phone and still Stock rom. However, to do this I need to put it in Download mode (Volume Down + Home + Power), but was not successful and the Image 1 appear (green android with red triangle and black exclamation), if i press home buttom, then the recovery list appear (image 2), but nothing work not matter what i press. THe only way is to wait for it to go off on its own, or to remove battery and restart
5) output *#1234# does not do anything. nor *#197..640# does not do anything either.
6) I tried ATT and it works like chams, but No T-mobile sim work.
Please help

Very sorry to have to tell you this my friend, but you have a clone Note 2, not a real one.
This thread and this one should show you a bit more.
Sorry mate, not the news I wanted to give you.
VERY slow part itself raises the massive red flag. Check the following and report back:
a. Do you have full 16GB storage space?
b. Do you see S Pen option in settings? If you do enable airview and see if it's working well now. If it's original, AirView should work well.

I see only 10.72 GB
no option for S Pen

SInce we are at this, I want to ask
I was able to save the seller's Phone number (this att sell phone), this Car Plate Number and made and model. Do you think reporting to police/samsung would help?
Also I threated him that as well, but so far no use.
Also , why would it work for ATT phone

You could attempt to have him done for fraud I guess, very hard to know though. He might claim he didn't know he was selling a fake phone etc. Certainly I'd contact the Police and explain the situation, see what they suggest.
It might work, threaten him that you'll report him to police, did you do that? I say go ahead, it's illegal to sell replicas let alone cheat you like that.
It's pure chance - something might work, some might not. That's the whole point of replica phones, they suck. No idea why Sprint wouldn't work on that, personally.

I also have a clone Note 2. I have figured out how to download a lot from reading forums on the internet. Most items actually work on this phone. My only issue is not getting 3g or 4g and not the best signal. If anyone has information on how to get a better signal I would greatly appreciate it. I live in Tulsa, OK if that helps.
try flashing custom modem

you may try visiting the Galaxy Note II Android Development section of this thread and learn how to flash custom stuff, then from there you will be able to flash a modem best suited for your country and/or your service provider, hope this helps.

Errr....he has a Note 2 clone ... none of the real Note 2 stuff is going to work since it's likely a MediaTek processor.
I have a SGS3 from ST my sons friend thought he was some kind of genus phone god and was gonna, so he said make it faster. all he did was soft brick it. moral there is never forget your phone at home while at work.
It took me almost two years I believe but I got a rom on it. I went with wicked sensations 5 and anaconda as a theme. It made the phone fast and looks awesome cudos you guys, great design. There is just one problem its on sprints atm's and I cant for the life of me figure out how to change it. I tried every trick I could think of. it wont allow me to use any program off Google store and it wont allow me to do it manually. The mobile settings arnt even even there and there is no manual place to manually change any thing please guys I am begging for help. mean while I am wasting my $45.00 card and money does not come easy to me I am disabled for the time being while my neck and back heal. So please please tell me how to change to ST numbers I have the numbers it just doesn't give me a place to put them.
I'm thinking that you are talking about APNs not ATMs. I have placed a link in the post that may help you out. I see you are posting in the Sprint forum and the link is for the Verizon S3 so this is mostly a "here is basically what you're looking for." You will need to flash the ZIP file while in recovery for the APNs to work. In my experience I have always had to flash right after I initially flash the ROM but before I reboot, other people may have had other experiences. You might try a google search for: Straight Talk APN S3 Zip verizon/sprint/at&t/etc.

On a side note, your post has some errors with the terminology and grammar used. The biggest part here is using the proper terms. I think you would have better success if you did that.
I'm sorry if I come off like a mean person but I want to be helpful. I really do wish you the best.
