HTC s621 with Mac? possible? - HTC Excalibur

Hey gang!
New to the forums here!
I was wondering if there is some sort of possible way (e.g program), to transfer files from my s621 to my MacBook Pro via USB?
i would use blue tooth, but after i downloaded the WM6.1 "NRG Rose Rom v1.7 - Remade by Ricky and Stylez"
my blue tooth doesn't seem to connect the two together anymore..
i know i know, i am indeed a Mac user, i had to use my brother's computer to upload that rom...
but yeah, is there any way for mac to get on in the action?
thannks guys

Here's something you should check and see if it works for you. Now I don't use mac, so I wouldn't know how good it is.

no problem, glad I could help.

i'm using my Excalibur with Macbook. so try Missing Sync which is really good, or freeware alternative called SyncMate. sad is, that SyncMate support synchronization only by cable or wifi, no bluetooth

I'm using Missing Sync, version 2.5 beta (it's been free thus far), and it seems to work fine.

Do I really Need ActiveSync 4.5 to sync with WM6?

I'm thinking about moving to one of the WM6 ROMs, but I've got a query about syncing.....
Do I REALLY need to upgrade ActiveSync 4.5 to get it to sync with XP? My problem is that I need to sync with my work laptop which is only running ActiveSync 4.2.
thanks
Mark
you realize it takes less than 5 minutes to upgrade your ActiveSync version, right? or are you in an environment where you can't make changes to a work notebook?
And are you really going to sync to two PC's or you just want to use your home PC to do the upgrade? And btw, 4.5 works better than 4.2 with WM6 (at least in my experiences), but of course, YMMV...

It's the latter, I can't make any changes to the software on the work machine.
I'm in the same boat - not allowed to upgrade the software on my work machines...
Sucks.
I feel for ya.
*cough* linux-boot-disk *cough*
Smiffy.

I'd be using my home PC to do the flashing of the PDA. I will then sync the device with both my home and my work laptops.
Upgrading the ActiveSync version on the home mahcine is obviously not a problem, it's the work one I can't upgrade.

So you're saying that WM6 WILL sync with 4.2, just not as well?

Good point! 4.2 will not talk to WM6...
For me your scenario wouldn't be a bother as I don't sync to my computer but to my Exchange server. (and I don't use Notes so everything sync's OK)

OK, thanks. I'll have to make enquiries about upgrading the ActiveSync on my work machine then.

As an IT person, that aspect wouldn't bother me (especially since I'm using one myself).
Within my office network, there are no shared apps installed on the local machines - everything is run through a virtual server. Exchange is configured with Push capability (I'm not using this though, using another one for personal contacts/emails/calendar). We also have internal wifi capability, so by setting up a shared folder on a local machine, one is able to transfer files back and forth without having to run AS.
ActiveSync Portable
U can try to use this non-installable version on an USB stick (just an .exe)
Just Google it and you'll find more.

Another question ...
I am using a service where i dial into another number to access long distance calling. Is there a way to enter the number in speed dial so that i can have the long distance call in number followed by the destination number?
Is there like a string i have to put in?
[Dial in number] # or , then [Destination Number]. Any ideas?

Sharing Blackstone's GPS for Notebook

I have searched this forum (Blackstone section only) but think that this question does not exists. I wonder if there is a connection way (or via any find of software) to share GPS information from my Blackstone for my notebook via cable? Does anybody know or using it? This will be very exciting for me. Thank you
Works for me with Memory map.

Yes there is, and I use it ocassionally. Its good to have the option! Here is how:
What you need:
1. IGO8 for PC.
2. "GPS Gate" or any similar software to create a "virtual serial port (VSP)" on your HD to which you will connect the PC (really simple, only sounds complicated).
What you do:
1. Install GPS Gate on your mobile and set it up for either Bluetooth or ActiveSync (gives you the option of cable or bluetooth over ActiveSync). MAKE NOTE of the port# you chose for the virtual port you made.
2. Fire up your IGO8 on your PC, go to settings/GPS and select the port which you created on your mobile.
3. Enjoy
The attached image, below, shows how IGO8 looks on my PC using my Diamond as a bluetooth GPS device.
Regards...
Thank you, shirreer and gadgetuk437 for sharing your experiences. I will try it out this week. Great that my PC can share this information with the phone.

[Q] torrent client for wm? maybe use linux?

Hello everyone still getting used to my new phone ive been researching and the best (only decent) torrent client I found is wmtorrent. anyone know of a better one
im considering possibly trying to dl torrents in linux if thats possi le id want to write to the sd card of course. anyone know of a better solution i have a lot more reading to do to see if i can make recieve calls while in linux
thanks a ton to everyhones input
Anybody know or am I asking in the wrong forum, or possibly this is a topic that shouldn't be discussed at all in here?
If so I apologize.
Hey everyone, still hoping to get some feedback on this. I was also considering now possibly a seedbox instead but anyone know if you can acess seedboxes via wm 6.5.
still wondering if anyone has feedback on wmtorrent
just looking for a way to dl torren.ts directly to my device (via wi-fi)

WMTorrent is clunky, but works fine. If you're using Linux, then Transmission is very lightweight and simple to use.
So installing the Linux Rhobuntu on the tilt 2 Id be able to torrent then?
If so sounds good to me! Ill mark this as solved once that is verified.
Only considering this as my Laptop is no longer usable and im kind of looking to see what I truly need on for, I can use my G/Fs or the ubuntu for any word processing, I rarely if ever need the computer for other items that I cant do from my work computer.
thank you for your response!
