How safe is it to flash your ROM?

The HTC Touch Cruise is a Polaris, not an Artemis. Do NOT use a ROM from one device on another device. It will brick your device.

I need some Help with the Toshiba e830.
Well as I know there are no updates whatsoever, but maybe some of you guys can make one. I really want to have at least wm5 because the old wm2003 doesnt seem to work with most new programs (i need the new opera mobile 9.5)
The device is great hardwarewise. I mean it has all i need.
actually i read, that there was an update for the japanese e830 (japanese Rom)

im telling you. its a great machine, and most of the newer programs are just made for wm5 or wm6. so is there no solution to this.
i mean there is a bootloader for the japanese rom, cant i backup my own, or write a new rom with wm6 on the pda?
are there any other e830 users?

You should do a wm5 or wm6 rom for such e830 users as me,and somebody maybe pay for it

thats what im asking others to do...
because i have absolutely no plan at all...
if there are tutorials on how to do it or someone would explain or help how it works im willing and will try it for sure...
and i guess there are still some e830 users out there.
as i understood, the problem is a bootloader to reach the data in the rom of the device...
hehe, im the one who needs help...
anyway, ive found a bootloader and the japanese rom update...
there are two files: eboot.bin and xip.bin ...
so maybe someone of you guys knows anything...

Even upgrade to wm5
No luck so far.

Japanese rom
e800 wm 2003 bootloader

osloader 1.5.6.exe

but don't know what to do with the files.

Had a quick question, I upgraded my phone to WM 6.0 awhile back following a guide that was on here (can't even remember where I found it) and it's been just sitting around and I want to upgrade the old fella.
At the moment WM6.0 with the overclock tool is still kinda slow for me, would it be worth to get the 6.5 upgrade?
Also, I REALLY want to try out Android on the Artemis, is that possible at all? Would you be so kind as to point me in the direction to where I could download and how to install Android?

Unfortunately, I am sent by a contribution in the other if I go on the search and does not find the data then to the download of the single programmes!
Briefly: What do I need? Where do I find as a download? What must I follow? Which steps must I obey successively?

I am desperately need some help. It's almost six months since I read about flashing custom roms and until now I can't find the courage to do it. For I don't muster enough knowledge (I think) in doing it.
I have an HTC Universal running in wm5. I want to flash it into wm 6.5. Is there some body who can forward me the suitable ROM and help me in the process of upgrading it? I really want to flash it to WM 6.5 so I can install cool looking GUI of e book reader in my device and some more eye candy stuffs.

I can tell you that the only way you´ll get to flash is to read a lot, we all started same as you, first of all loose the fear, if you follow the instructions all will be fine.

Regarding the upgrading/flashing of my device. What are the things that one could get if he/she flashed her device? In other words why would someone wants to upgrade his/her device?
What I mean by this question is, is there any reason why would a dopod 900 user like me would want to upgrade from windows mobile 5 to windows mobile 6.1? What are the things that I can do if I will upgrade?
Yes I think there would be some nice applications that can only be installed in Windows Mobile 6.1 or Windows Mobile 6.5 however, if I just install a program that would do a make over of my GUI, SPB mobile shell for instance, everything will be like the same even if it has different Versions of Windows Mobile for I am using the same alternative shell for my device as a GUI.
Any insights? or word of wisdom that could enlightened me? Thank you so much!
