HELP

juicy's rom means you have a CMDA diamond, the radios listed here are for GSM version.
Take a look at this thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=577319

Nope! all your settings will be intact! You can upgrade your Radio without any harm... Off course you could make a backup for your own convenience, but it's not necessary

maybe we must do a table - action - result
i.e - new rom - HR
new radio - no HR
new splash - no HR
new SPL - ?

That won't be necessary.
If you flash via the RUU, this just results in a soft reset.

The Diamond Custom RUU by Tom is patched not to hard reset after flashing Radios, Splashes and SPL's.

any bell users update?
This is the same radio that came on my Sprint Touch. It is a pretty good radio but there are some places where I still can't get reception. Basic reception issues that you will get with most any radio.
Overall the coverage with this radio is excellent.
DCD I Love You!!!
Im A Bell User, And I Was Having Reception Issues In My House,
In My Own Bedroom Infact, After Installing This Radio, Those Issues Seem
To Have Gone Away, No More Static, And Voice Breaking Off!!
Thank You!!

The Altel Touch Radio From What I Heard Is Newer Then 2.13
Is It Possible That You Can Get Your Hands On That?

Where did you find that vogue update file that you extracted the radio from? I would like a copy.
Quick Question for dcd
I was wondering if you would recomend the 2.13 radio over the 1.40 to use in conjunction with your 1.6.10 sprint rom? I know in the end its all up to me just wondering what you thought about it.
Thanks for all your work

Telus 2.15
For the person who asked about use of this on a Telus Touch: I got my Touch in November and the Radio ROM that came with it is newer than this (2.15) so you don't even need this one.
DCD, If I'm not mistaken, it's the same firmware you used in your custom ROM 0.20? (Which I love, btw... and am waiting eagerly for your next one)
DJ
I just installed this 2.13 radio Rom on my Bell HTC Touch and its working fine. It seems to have full bars for my EV Data connection all the time now, but it still only has 2 bars when it drops down to 1X for a voice call when I'm at the back of my house. THis is the same as before with the 1.59.10 Rom. I tested out the voice and is sounds a bit better so I think its improvement so far.
i just want to know which has faster data speeds as some say the 159.10a is very fast

Verizon XV6900 ROM Update to 6.1 NO RADIO Update Q??

Hey guys I have been on this site for about a week now with my new touch. I love the phone but I do want to upgrade to a custom VERIZON rom but I don't want to upgrade the radio. Can this be done? Every upgrade i have looked at talk about upgrading the radio first.
I am getting fast speeds already and do not need gps.
What verizon 6.1 roms do you recommend and is it a different install process?
thanks in advance
just download a non gps and rev-a rom and there should be no reason for a radio upgrade check ppcgeeks
Out of curiousity, why wouldn't you change the radio?? Once you flash the ROM, there is no turning back, so why not add on the GPS?
for 1 i don't want to risk bricking my phone with a radio flash, and 2 i have no use for the gps.

LOL! You can brick it either way! Regardless, as long as you follow the steps and unlock, your ok.
Verizon 6.1 for xv6900 even available yet?
And if so, where, and/or has anyone made a non-broken ROM that unlocks the GPS and wi-fi that doesn't leave out useful software like mobile office?

What is a "non-broken" ROM???
There is NO Wi-Fi hardware, so you can't unlock it.

If you're "unlocking" the GPS, you're flashing the radio rom. And as stated, there is no Wi-Fi anywhere in the Vogue. What's your big paranoia with flashing the radio?
Well, I've never flashed a ROM before. . .
RATS on the no wifi hardware.
I don't recall what I meant by non-broken.
I do like having the office software on there, and I would prefer a version of the ROM that didn't leave that out.
So I have found the ROM I want and the unlock tool but I can't find the correct radio for GPS for the Verizon 6900. I have tried the link for Dharvey's ROM but it says I don't have the permissions to view the thread. Any suggestions?

is it aprils fool joke?
So this one is different from the blackstone one that need security unlock, in the radio thread ?
Nevertheless, i've tried the blackstone one for a week, and the phone became hot and quickly lose battery. I reverted back to 1.12.25.16 which is really good and my personal best.
I tried all radio and updated every time there's a new one, it's the first time i fell inconfortable enough to restore a previous one.
My operator is orange france, in paris, with a lot of 3g / edge switch because of the poor coverage in public transport.
I don't think so, device info shows Radioversion 1.13.25.24

[Newbie question] flashing with cooked ROM

hi, this is my very first post in XDA-developers. Please help me with some of my questions regarding flashing a TP2 with a cooked ROM.
I have a brand new TP2 from T-mobile USA.
and i want to flash it with a custom ROM.
i did search and read some post and i found these two threads.
Hard-SPL unlocker:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
and Flashing for newbies
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540&highlight=touch+pro+rom
my questions are:
1) are these both applicable to a brand new TP2 from t-mobile USA?
2) are these two together the only TUTORIALS i will need? (if not, any other suggestions?)
3) can you please give me some keywords or tags or links on where i can find the cooked ROMs?
4) do i need to SIM UNLOCK my phone?
5) can i still fix it if i accidentally brick it?
6) what is a RADIO? (in XDA-developer terms)
i would really appreciate your help. thanks a lot!
Welcome Rakcs,
As far as flashing a cooked ROM goes. It looks way more complicated than it really is.
First you need to download and flash the HardSPL(Follow the instructions and you will be fine)
Quick note though.. When flashing the HardSPL your screen will go black, this is normal.
This allows you to flash your cooked roms.
Once you have the HardSPL flashed, download your choice of ROM and flash it.
But to more accurately answer your questions...
1) are these both applicable to a brand new TP2 from t-mobile USA?
--Yes
2) are these two together the only TUTORIALS i will need? (if not, any other suggestions?)
--For the most part.
3) can you please give me some keywords or tags or links on where i can find the cooked ROMs?
--Check the ROM development page for the Rhodium http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=490
4) do i need to SIM UNLOCK my phone?
--No, not unless you feel the need to switch to a different carrier
5) what is a RADIO? (in XDA-developer terms)
RADIO refers to your Radio (ie Phone/GPS "radio"). You can update the driver for the radio for better functionality.
wow.. thanks for the quick response. since it says in your sig that you also have tp2 from tmobile usa. i wanted to ask which ROMs are safe to use on it. it's because it says on a video guide on youtube that some ROMs are carrier dependent. thank you so much for your help!
another question:
what's the difference between the standard cooked ROM and Manila 2.5?
Well once you get used to the flashing process it really comes down to personal preference.
I have tried most if not all of the ROMS on the forum and I personally like Monx ROMeOS.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=570407
To be able to download his ROMs you have to sign up at his website here: http://romeos.monx.biz/
It's well worth it.
It's a very friendly rom for someone who is flashing for the first time.
Ok.. Manila refers to the Touchflo 3D (just a fancy name for it).
Anyway, there are essentially 2 versions for it. 2.1 and 2.5
2.1 supports the landscape mode for when you slide out that beautiful keyboard. 2.5 only supports landscape on the music/pictures tabs.
For you I would suggest sticking with roms cooked with manilla 2.1

Do I need a new radio

I know nothing about radios. Could someone please explain to me what it means and what it does for you? I have T-Mobile and only get 2 to 0 3G bars at work. It is really interfering with my music streaming. Would love to get more bars. I have a stock ROM and am not interested in flashing a new ROM.
T-Mobile
HTC TP2
WM 6.1 Prof
Radio 3.5.25.14
Stock ROM

"Radio" in reference to "new radio" or "flashing a radio" refers to a radio rom -- it's a software thing. And it affects (at least) your cell connection as well as your GPS connection...and probably how well the radio uses power and affects battery life. And I'm very happy with the new radio I'm using -- better than the stock radio.
But in order to flash a new radio (radio-rom) you need to first do the HardSPL thing, which is also required before flashing an OS rom.
So, if you say you don't want to flash a new OS rom (to avoid voiding your warranty, for example), then you probably won't want to do the HardSPL either, because that's as major (from a non-stock standpoint) as flashing a rom.
If you read just a few threads above this one you´ll find some interesting answers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679322
I have done quite a bit of reading but it still is not clicking. I need a beginners article. I will find it, but have not yet.
So the Hard-SPL thing-a-ma-jiggy at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131 - is that just for the radio or a ROM / radio. I do not mind flashing a radio, just do not want to flash a ROM because I don't have a need and do not want to spend the rest of my life on this new toy - i mean necessary piece of office equipment.
What radio would the Hard-SPL at that link give me? Is it true that software alone can increase the number of 3G bars?

I don't know the technical explanation...but the HardSPL is necessary in order to flash any rom -- that means a new radio (rom) or a new custom OS rom. (By "OS--rom" I mean all of those custom roms listed in all those threads in the TP2 Windows Mobile ROM Development sub-forum) The phone won't accept the non-stock rom (including radio-rom) without the HardSPL.
The HardSPL doesn't change anything else, though. You still have the same radio and the same stock rom. But it's necessary to do that before you flash a non-stock radio-rom or a non-stock OS rom.
Radio-roms (software) can improve your reception...but which one will/may do that depends on where you're located and other factors, so you would probably want to try more than one -- but once you've done it you'll see it's easy. It's also possible that 3G coverage in your area is simply poor.
If you need/want more details about alternative radio-roms you probably should post in the Rhodium GSM Radio Collection thread.

Perfect answer, amigo!
Brenda, I saw that you were thinking about doing the tmo 6.5 upgrade anyway, which of course includes the .57 radio, and that's the path I would suggest...it'll let you try out wm6.5 as well as that radio, and flashing an official upgrade like that is even easier than doing the HSPL-custom rom thing. So, that way you can see if either of those changes are good for you, with minimum effort and hassle. If the .57 radio doesn't seem to offer any improvement, then you can start getting into flashing others to try...and if you do then I suggest you start with the one MCBrian has in his sig, .77
Thanks sirphunkee for all you rhelp. I will take your advice. I was going to upgrade to 6.5 right away but decided to load a ton of software on my phone first to see what I liked. Well .... I like it all. Now I have so much software that I do not want to take a weekend to reload everything. But I will have to bite the bullet. I sit in a cube all day and like to listen to streaming music. I have napster but I like the unpredictability and pleasant surprises that a streaming station can offer. The low bars are interfering with my music.
I have kept good notes on all my applications installs and have all the software and "fixes". Have screen prints of all my "setups" for email. I use activesync with my desktop Outlook so all of that is saved. Don't think that there is anything else to save. Just wonder if you have any advice before I upgrade. Is there anything I should do before wiping clean my device? Should I clean my program files, outlook attachments, etc on my storage card?
