We initially had a poll on the best ROM for artemis.
That was a while ago and we have a lot of new chefs in business cooking wonderful ROM's
Can any of you please start a similar poll with all the new ROMS which has come out.
I think we should do this to give the best chef among all a little more deserved recognition.
sure v should have a poll once again

I would second that any day..
Meschele had prepared the best ROMS's (In terms of speed and stability together) ...
It is a shame he quit the forum without giving us a nice manila ROM which would not keep on crashing

For me this rom best
http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=138267:cool:
I'm new here myself, trying to learn to cook some roms, I've tried about any rom I could find and the fastest and most stable so far is meschle's 3.01 vanilla, yes it is wm6.0 and does need some extra programs installed, but I prefer installing thing rather than removing them afterwards (which can be tricky). I'm also fond of gullum's TF2D beta5, but he is also not going to make any new versions anymore.
I want to make own rom from a very clean wm 6.1 source and only do minimal customisation and let the end-user and myself decide what apps to install. I don't see the need to pack a rom full of apps that get outdated when newer versions of the apps are released with no way of properly uninstalling it.
If anyone has some new clean wm6.1 XIP/SYS sources please pm me.
My best ROM is YuE_v11.1_3.15.20755_ExtraClean_WWE, cuz it is very fast, stable, and Roomy. Ver 14 had a bunch of faults. I never liked other versions, cuz of being stuffed with too many softwares I never used.

ANy chance of a link?
Artemis Touch 4.02 Full with 4 sided cube,
the first one i ever ''flashed''to my htc p3300.
i must say it works very good but it takes 100% cpu usage on this phone unfortunally.
now im flashing''no nonsonse_6''on this moment to my phone for faster working(i hope)............
installed,it looks not fancy but it looks not bad.
simple use but i am really searching for a rom that is fast, and with nice graphics and programs(like live messenger)
edit;
[rom][wwe][01.02.09]achilles Manila 2d (ce Os 20764.1.4.3) version 3 YouTube[online]
is the one i installed now on my tmobile mda compact 3(p3300)nl edition
even as they say its impossible to get a wireless connection with an tmobile mda3 compact.....
with this rom i now have access to the wireless internet!
working great, just installed windows live messenger and it works like a charm!
im really happy that i now can access the wireless internet, very handy!
(must say this phone is unlocked after 1 year for free by tmobile)

Yep, just wondering which rom are you using, and if you can, name 1 to 3 features that rom has that you like (that you give up on other roms).
I personally used Schaps 4.00 (lite/full) and Shamanix's 3.62 and now Grass 1.2Beta, sticking to 1.2Beta because that its clean and pretty much bugless.
let me know what you think! (I'll add more to it when there are more)
I used it because:
1.)Stable, pretty much cleanest set of basic rom packages, don't really need much tweaking
2.)New comm manager interface, i love it.
3.)clean clean clean! no frills!

oh really? but you mean CHT or CHS? (Simplified or Traditional?) I want a cooked rom with traditional built in too...!
Im using the ATT Carrier Release
Its Fast
Its Stable
Its good on battery
i wonder if i can flash the official AT&T Rom to upgrade my radio and SPL and then flash my device back to Schaps/Grass? any expert can help?
I found the packages to update just the radio. =)
Black Majik
I've actually resisted my urge to flash since I put on JJ's Black Majik ROM. I've upgraded the radio a couple of times (now on the latest AT&T version 1.54), but starting to think about doing a new ROM flash. Maybe Schap's, maybe vpg.
I like Pandora because I can easily customize the rom exactly how I like it. Looking forward to ver10.

I also am using the latest Official AT&T
Edhaas' D-lite superstorage ROM.
Stable, fast, and ultra lite (over 70mb storage) to only put what i want.
i replace wince.nls by CHT one
then i make font and reg as OEM packages
well.... it should have some easier/tidier way i think...
but..anyway it works
i dunno how to add CHT into schaps...coz its packed into nbh already. the method(rom editing) is well documented ....but i m just lazy..
so now i m waiting for pandora v10
schaps performance + pandora flexibility
i will be a nice mix
nice.. that would be a good mix really. the only thing is that i do want the msjh3.ttf font (a lot clearer than standard CHT rom fonts) and cantonese pinyin.
So currently I had to suffice using CE-STAR (for cantonese pinyin) and ime-msjh.cab (by Kuma) to add fullscreen handwriting + chanjie
so far it works great, and i can remove that stupid subglobe.ttf ugly font, AND still use hongkong.tte (HK style fonts).

That is a good question.... Anyway TNT .1933 Series should be out soon. Now running Schap's 4.00 Lite (but it changes too often due to the ROM comparison thread I run )
Where is TNT?
i'm using the schnaps 3.54, but the modified one from olipro with 6mb pool page because it runs currently most stable and fast with my installs
as soon as i get my active sync running again, i'll try the schnaps 4.01!
What I'm using
Since I discovered Pandora, I can't go back! I'm addicted to flashing and customizing my own ROM. It's just wonderful that we can now truly make our phone ours now and not a walking billboard for some other carrier.
Reason for using Pandora 9.5/3.62.3:
Stability
Ability to customize and personalize
Gives me a good excuse to redo my phone every now and then
Personal opinion here, but I think there's way more people using Pandora than what the poll is indicating. C'mon people! Show your support for Mattk_r and Pandora!
That being said, please don't flame me here for saying that. I've tried other roms and they're all very wonderful. The various rom chefs here are just awesome and very talented! I just sometimes can't sit still and have to tinker with my phone for one reason or another, so at least in the short term, Pandora's the one for me!

I have tested all the 6.1 ROM's that are currently available for the Excalibur. I believe all parties involved in bringing us this new innovative 6.1 ROM technology have done a superb job. As it stand of this writing, I will have to say that Rick's 6.1 v5 ROM is KING DOG OF ALL 6.1 ROM's for the Excalibur. Personally, I have been able to do a lot of creative things with his ROM that I could not do with other 6.1 ROM's. One of the main thing that I love about Rick's 6.1 v5 ROM, it has no battery drain or memory loss that I have experience thus far. Another thing, I like the speed and the ability of his ROM to carry and run a ton of multi media apps with machine like precision with no lag.......!
I'm running 080314, but I plan to upgrade to 080318 final soon. I do have a few issues with 14 that I am expecting 18 to fix.

Direct your attention to the bold text: What kind of a statement is this? You ABSOLUTELY can do any and all of the customizations that are currently out there with any 6.1 ROM released. There is nothing outrageous or particularly special about Rick's v5 other than a ROM built with added customizations. Rick just provided a ROM with these customizations so that users would not have to install them and tweak registry settings themselves; in other words, he did the work for you so you could just flash the ROM and be done. However, not everyone wants or uses these tweaks and customizations.
That being said, I would suggest to goraps to look at Kavana's 080318 final, and then compare it to any of Rick's 6.1 releases to determine which he wishes to use. But I would like to stress the importance of starting from "scratch" (Kavana's 18 final) before jumping into something more developed and "tweaked out".
Kavana's 080318 final
Only prob is I don't like the thin font. I would prefer the standard Tahoma.
Rick Rom rules
I use Rick's 6.1 v5 ROM and (don't know how if Rick didnt change nothing important) i have much more free memory all the time maby that is a reazon im finding Rick's Rom much faster. There is one little problem i;m looseing network outside city (moveing to countryside) i was trying few diferent roms and still have same problem Even my wifes SE k510 is better but it has to be problem with phone however i dont think its broken just chinese (no offece) I;m considering buying one of Nokia (n95) or Motorolla V9 but i will miss all Excalibur funcionalitys
Sry 4 my english... hope its unerstendable
O.. and special thx to Kevana U did great job with 6.1
Well I upgraded last night and I used Rick's after I was unable to get Kavana's to work on my phone. I kept getting the 270 error so I went with Ricks and it worked like a charm. So far I really like it. I will see what happens after I have had a chance to play around for a while.
I use latest Kavana's ROM - 080330
And works fine. I see some new Radio - need a couple of days to see is there any differences.

I find this one incredibly stable, just as long as you don't stupidly add the x-button program on top of what's already there. It'll create a conflict in the software and force a reset.
I don't text, so I'd advise reading through to gauge what other people think.

CRCs ROM
I too have tried every ROM on this board I could find. The one liked the best was CRC's r9.2. It seemed to load the fastest, from the get go. I noticed right away in the screen alignment. Here is the link.

For texting the WM6.1 is a must, with threaded TXT, it's amazing. Like you I am running the AT&T 8525. I had problems with my internet connection, then I updated my radio, here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/73390245/HERM_Radio_Only_1.54.30.10_CustomRUU.zip.html
After that, no problems.
I liked this one the best because it had everything I wanted, Task Manager, Office Mobile, Flashlite, and the auto-network config worked better than others I tried.
It will be this ROM for me, or the Offical ROM from AT&T. I CANNOT wait for his 10.4 release.

I agree with this. IMHO CRC's Stable roms have all the features that are required. I have played with many but always come back to his stable versions when I want to use my hermes for work.
Stable and fast
Hi
I have tried most of the roms released here, and just 2 months ago came across DVH roms. This Vietnamese guy is really finding speed and reliability in my Hermes. It is the only roms that didn't mess up no matter what I install. All the others fail sooner or later or they are too slow compared to the roms of this guy

If you are on your 6th one in a month then how do you know they are stable? You dont seem to use them long enough to find out.
Most of the 6.1 roms out there are stable, however you need to follow the rules and flash a carrier rom before flashing. - some require a good radio rom etc.
i saw you posted in binkys 3.9 thread.. well im using that rom and have been using it pre-release and its fine.. no problems what so ever.. so theres something wrong with the way your running your roms.
So far I found Pay's last one to work the best for me. I have kept it longer then any ROM including the stock one so far. I will probably try one of the 6.1 roms again now that they are getting figured out more, but that will be after I come back from Greece.
All I do is text, MMS, make phone calls, and check the weather or check my email from time to time and the best IMHO is the MRH ROMs followed closely by the Binkey11's ROM. The MRH one is my favorite because it has most the features and apps but Binky's is really good for being light and fast. I am bouncing back and forth between them and I like them the most right now.
I am also a HUGE fan of Schaps ROMs so be sure to look for that one here in the next little bit. I would venture to guess it will probably be the benchmark all other WM6.1 ROMs are measured by.

If u flash often, then u know u'r device's feel, behavior, apps, etc. So, it doesn't take that long to evaluate if u'r own device is stable, buggy, quick, slow, etc.
I find most of these cooks roms (from hard work & revised versions) very stable...
This is how to go about?

i believe it has something to do with the storage, and the carrier rom returns the device to the original settings.
CRC's ROM's are the best in my opinion & I think I've tried most of the others.
Been running CRC 10.4 since release with no issues.
I find it's only add-ons or bad CABs that may make them unstable.
Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite
Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite or Berd's 4.31 SS (=Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite with 3.62 SuperStorage).
Have been running this ROM for months now, zero issues and very very fast.
i know this done before, but lets make a new vote
first the best rom (stable, power drain, applications compatibility)
1-PDAVIET ARTEMIS & LOVE WM6.1
2- artemis touch 4.02
3-artemis touch vanilla 4.02
4- opps black
5-black and blue
6- YuE_v9.1_3.15.20721_ExtraClean
second what do you prefer the cube or not
third and what about the 2d manila
for me, i'm not that experience but i think the PDAVIET ARTEMIS & LOVE WM6.1 BUILD 20275.1.3.3 NNH is soo good, but i had an error with incoming calls so i'll try the older build
black and blue is good but i had a problem when i installed it with sycronizing with the computer.
i used artemis touch 4.02 lite with cube, but after 2 days even i almost did not installed any program and using it with just internet applications and normal stuff the power drain is high and the free ram was 5 MB
and i don't see a good use of the cube.
and 2d manila is still slow and i had to do a hardrest after installing it cuz it slowed my orbit even after uninstalling it.
lets see your opinions
...yeah its a worn out topic...but nevertheless...
for me its YuE_v9.1_3.15.20721_ExtraClean
pros:
- fast as hell
- so clean , u can customize it as hell
- 67,12mb storage
- 47,98mb program
- stable, no power drain, highly applications compatible

cons:
-needs a little help to go fully wwe!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422911
- drag and mark to copy /cut not working, needs "menu/edit/select all"
battery drain is mostly a question purely related to the radio version, afaik only the orig artemis 02.98.90 and the 03.21.90 are ok
no cube, no manila (atm, until it goes light) just htcplus-customized

I absolutely agree with that, cuz YuE 9.1 aint better than 4.4.
I never liked Cubed ROM, cuz thery were very slow and stuffy.
Manilla was merely a killer to any ROM I tried with.
This YuE man deserves a huge credit.
well for me i did not try the YuE_v9.1_3.15.20721_ExtraClean
cuz it looks creepy a little with making it WWE
but now i'm using the PDAVIET ARTEMIS & LOVE WM6.1 BUILD 20273.1.3.3 NNH, and it's really works like charm till now (few days)
and free program memory is about 23 Mb now.
but it looks like there is a problem with GPS softwares (look at the thread) cuz these days i don't use GPS
but all other stuff are great and it includes the most programs you need
but i think i'm gonna use the YuE extra clean cuz i'm curios

Tried just about all the cooked ROMS and the very best as now is the YuE's. Only thing with me is the V9 & V10 don't drag and paste all the text as they should, but as i was reading Yingmu yesterday he's trying to fix this.
Cheers
Well now there's Yue V11 too. It comes in three flavors.
Light, Extraclean, and M2D.
Personally i think Yue V10 ultraclean is a bit faster then V11.
i'm using now YuE V11 With 2D manila page pool 4m...
working like a charm..
I have BsB 651G for a while. I'd like to switch to some newer build, but is there a reason? Can I get something new?
BsB is bugfree, looks nice, has about 58mb freeram after sr.
Is there any newer rom fill this criteria?
Thanx for your opinion.
David
not really it's prob the most solid ROM ther eis for the touch diamond IMO, there is quite a few chefs that have produced ROMS with Sense but its upto you if you wanna try them, i always trying something different but always go back to the ROM in my sig, have you tried Xandroid yet thats fun to play with
Ralphusion
there is a link end of the thread, where a new chef continue this rom

Yes, it looks nice... Im afraid of not-solved-locking issue.. anyway, what is better at this ROM comparing to BsB? (It seems pretty same to me ) Please don't say "new kernel", it is nothing what I can see...

yep, i'm watching denstereo's ROM development, but why to flash this? Yes, it has newer kernel, but it doesn't bring any real diference. But 43mb free ram vs 58mb is the real diference
BsB
There is no ROMs out there that can compete with BsB - I have tried A LOT of ROMs from here and all of them have bugs apart from BsB
I use my Diamond every day and never have any issues with BsB ever
I will only flash another ROM if Windows Mobile 7 gets ported to Diamond
You could try EnergyROM those are pretty good roms

yeah, I could, but can you tell why? I don't look for Sense. Energy is "full loaded" but it is not actually an advantage. I can install only apps what I want.. Is there anything special at this ROM except of a lot of apps included? Something, what BsB doesn't have?
i quite tempted to try this ROM "Gen.Y PX-D R0 with XDANDROID " but i just downloaded and says files are corrput so nothing to do tonight now lol
Raffo 3.2
You may try this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614695
I have switched from BsB, and pretty satisfied with his Special Raffo 3.2. on my request. Speedy and good battery life and good memory.
No slide lock issue.
A Lite version is available too.

Raffo v3.2 lite looks fine. Again: Does it have something better than Bsb?
as have many on here changed ROMS so many times now i think its down to personal choice on what you think is better, some people love BSB ROMS some people prefer other things each to their own, we could give you loads to try but you should just back up everything and give it a go we all no its not to much hassle to swap ROMs so just give them a try if you dont like go back to what you like

a nice and diplomatic response trev.
@davidm2: I just dropped by coz I see my ROM listed in the tryouts. Someone suggested its close to BsB ... I know I'm nowhere close.
But all I can say is that BsB ROMs or for that matter, any other ROM in this forum can never be emulated even if the chefs share their entire kitchen with other fellow chefs. Each chef has a defined style and persona which finds its way to blend into their ROMs.
Fans of BsB will always aim for very high memory, zero bugs/high-stability, speed, and simplicity coupled with a crisp UI. And as trev puts it, its really down to personal choice. Give it a try, you can always switch back to your preferred best.
I've been cooking my own ROMs for a while now, but every time I goof up and need some sanity, I flash back to BsB myself coz I know thats the best of the lot (for me).

Thanks for opinion. There're those ROM's left on my "list": Benko's, l3v5y's and RaL.GT1F. I like the squared buttons, so Benkos, l3v5y's are out for now (seems to be fiddling reason? and what is about?). It looks like I'll try RaL.GT1F. (one question: there is one bug at BsB after all: ezinput(keyboard) in landscape mode isnt show correctly, the keyboard is a little bit wider than the screen, right part is cutted-off, the 'P' letter is missing and half of 'L' letter is missing. Has the RaL.GT1F this bug too?)

Although I can't confirm this (I'm using a non-ezinput version of my ROM now), but I did install the Ezinput cab (same version) and it didn't cut the sides off (i.e it works just fine).
I've asked for the guys to check if it exists in the main ROM nevertheless. I'll do so too when I flash next. Also, posted a reply to your query there as well.
Hi I have been using BsB since nearly the beginning, but since he switched over to the HD2 been looking for new rom. have tried a few including xandroid but have stoped with Energy Phoenix 2..very nice stable rom like you said it is loaded but it works well while we wait for the bugs to be ironed out of xandroid
