Hi,
Does anyone of you in NYC with cingular medianet Max Unlimited plan able to connect to m.youtube.com without getting "failed to connect network" error message?
It seems to me that Cingular has blocked the ports that streaming video are using? I am using Wifi without any problem.
Does anyone has a clue?
Thank you.
There's no streaming video on m.youtube.com... just some links to movies in 3gp...
I know in Media Net's WAP settings there is a proxy setting---try removing the proxy setting. I know without the proxy setting in place---you cannot access Cingualar's MediaNet page/videos.
I use PDA Net plan --- Could not get MediaNet to work on 3G at the time (also in NY).

Setup 2 profiles on phone. One for MediaNet (includes proxy settings) & another, e.g., ISP, not using proxy. MediaNet connection will work with many sites, but not streaming video or audio.
When you want to go to a site, like youtube or video streaming music, use your ISP profile. Do a search on forum & you'll find a Custel progy for switching between proxy & non-proxy.
If that doesn't work, reply here, as there might be a reg setting that needs to be changed.
Hi
When i try to play a video from the web in the app "Streaming Media", the programm always connect to internet thru my mobile dealer. I tried to change it that it stream it over my wifi connection but doesnt work. Under Options i can choose o2mms, o2internet, work, secure Wap etc. But nothing really worked.
Can someone give me an answer`??
Thanks
My wifi is behind a university http proxy. I have modified the wifi connection in my Galaxy Nexus (4.2.1) to use the appropriate proxy settings.
Now, browser and most apps work fine, but there is a problem with the all apps which stream video or audio. For instance, in Youtube application, I can search for videos, see comments, but the videos don't stream. The streaming works absolutely fine when on 3G. Moreover, youtube video streaming works fine on my macbook on the same wifi connection.
I am guessing this has to do something with the fact that streaming is not done via HTTP, therefore it is not using the wifi http proxy settings. But I could be totally wrong. Any ideas what could be causing this problem?
Hello, I am the "proud" owner of a Sony Bravia Android TV with all its perks... running over the fact that I cannot connect a bluetooth headset now I am coming here with a question: native VPN seems to be blocked as option in the Android TV. I would need an alternative as I want to connect to a remote network where I have a multimedia source. In the remote network I have an ASUS RT-N56U on which I have set up a PPTP VPN server.
Does anybody knows any alternative to connect with my android TV to this VPN?
Thanks!
As I know, you can only use OpenVPN protocol on Android TV.
yep, but this doesn't help me in my situation...
my workaraound for the moment: I have reactivated my Android stick which allows PPTP VPN...
Help
Most times when I try to start Plex to steam a movie or tv show from my computer wifi (Win7) I have to shut the Toshiba firetv down and cold start it. Is there a way to fix this problem?
What's your network setup?
Are computer and television connecting to the same WiFi access point?
Do you have the Plex client on the TV set to allow insecure network connections on the same network?
Hello
The computer and TV are on the same 1G WiFi network router / modem. Computer is directly connected and the TV is wireless.. Plex app starts on the Toshiba Fire Tv but while loading a movie or tv program will go black and nothing. Both movie and TV show are in MKV format. It's just so frustrating to have to shut down the TV and restart to get the shows to play, computer is always on.
Thanks for your response.

Are you able to stream video from other FireTV apps?
This sounds like a Plex & networking issue. Have you tried giving your FireTV and Computer static IPs?
You may want to try the Plex support forum:

Hello
I'm not sure how to create static IPs. I assumed because they were on the same network the router would handle it. I left a message as you suggested on the Plex forum.
Thank you
