Hi,
Maybe your alignment is out. ie your screen taps are off the mark.
Realign your screen (maybe with a hard reset like they say).
Just a thought
Michael
On a side note, I noticed a little "backdoor," if you will, when the initial Windows Mobile calibration and tutorial starts up - press the OK button and it will take you straight to the Today screen, but since the touchscreen hasn't been calibrated, it performs totally wacky when you touch the screen.
Of course, you can use the keyboard to get to the Settings panel and go to the Screen applet and recalibrate it from there.
thanks for helping but the thing is that firstly
when it says tap on the screen to setup ur windows mobile phone the screen taps do no work
secondly i press the okay button and the screen that i see in front is not my usual desktop ofcourse with the touch screen not working still
thridly i donnot seem to find the settings and all the rest on the screen because the widows is not setup on the xda :S

do a HARD RESET... push the little buttons on the keyboard that are dashes. They are to the left and right of the send and end call buttons. While holding those down reset the device.
So to repeat... DO A HARD RESET> am i missing something?
Cyb

Faulty screen?
i had same problem, just had to many hard resets, also take the battery out for an hour or two

Start bar on keyboard

hi guys , i know this might seem a strange question but like most my stylus is loose in the holder and i sometimes need to use the keyboard to do most things on the unit and i cant find anywhere that activates the start option on the screen. I have done it by accident once but nothing since. i have checked the manual and it mentions it no where all operations seem to be around the stylus?
does anyone know what key combination it is ?
I have a 02 phone and unlike tmobile which has a one of the 4 buttons on front setup to do this as one of the defaults.
cheers in advance
It should be ctrl+escape on a full keyboard. It might also be enabled by the windows or context menu keys, not sure what your keyboard looks like.
You can use my VJKeypress to get this as well. I think it's keycode 91, not sure, check my website.

Im talking about the blue angel, xda 2s keyboard thanks you for reply im not talking normal pc keyboard it does not have ctrl esc or alt on 02 xda 2s keyboard
Sorry! I've never seen a BlueAngel keyboard

Why not assign one of the hardware buttons to do this, each one can have a duel function assigned either a tap or hold, according to the phone, in reality this doesn't work (unless anyone knows different - latest O2 ROM - not messed around with), whatever you set for a tap is also carried accross to the hold function, go to settings and locate the power buttons icon select it, then select the button you want (ok for example) then assign the <Start Menu> from the drop down box, press OK, the device might want a soft reset (mine did when I just tried this), when it comes back up hit the assigned button, and use the four way thumb control to navigate through the menus, it saves sliding out the keyboard and it becoming loose - Mike
cheers for this when i tried to reassign buttons before like the camera it wouldnt let me change them ..i hate the camera button getting accidently caught same as the record one as well.
cheers for the advance will do that would just like to know for my own peace of mind as well how to use the keyboard to do it, it should be possible.

Changing Today Screen Soft Keys

I am using regedit to try and change the values of the soft keys on my today screen (wm 6.0 pro). I have used:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112 to show the settings for one key - I assume the left key. But I can't find any other key in this folder to rflect the right soft key. I would like the left key to open SMS and the right to open contacts - How can I accomplish?
Use Schap's Advance Config to do it; much easier than editing the registry.
Thanks a bunch...1 More Thing...
is there a way to get one of the soft keys to read SMS rather than just messaging?
and do you currently have an app to turn the tilt completly off...
without pressing the power button? pocketman 2 doesnt seem to do it

What does this button on the Touch Pro2 do? Where is the windows and okay key?

What does the this button on the Touch Pro2?
Is this button also an okay button? I don't see any ok button on the Touch Pro2 keyboard and if it doesn't have it, I won't get the Touch Pro2. The picture is attached on my first post.
It is the "back" button

So it deletes text and moves back in opera browser? That's all? That's the dumbest hardware choice ever.
Seriously man, what does it do and WHEN DOES IT DO IT?
When it goes back, does it alt tab also?
Please be specific, I obviously know what back does but the point is that I need to know exactly how it works.
For example the zoom bar on toshiba tg01 only works in the web browser while the zoom bar on the touch pro2 works in both the browser and in images.
So please explain in detail. I need an okay button.

No TP2 for you. It's a return key.
What is does? Well, it goes back. Twice if you press it twice.

Oh I see it's like the back key (which also functions as delete) on my Xperia.

Yea. it backs up pretty much any program your in. Also, if your in a windows menu, hitting that will take you back to the previous menu, or to the home screen if you hit it enough times. hitting the 'end call' button im told also takes you directly to the home screen.
Not sure if it works for Text typing. as when your typing, you should either be using the on-screen keyboard, or the hardware keyboard, both of which have their own backspace.
It interesting that not a lot of people know this. The back key can be used as an okay key. Every time you have a window with an okay button, you can use the back key for it.
(I've actually seen a review of the TP2 that blasts it for not having an okay button)
Hmmm very interesting posts.
You see my Xperia has an okay button but it only serves as functions for pressing the ok or x on the screen.
However the okay button does not goes back between web pages and that kind of stuff or text editing.
But my Xperia has a [del/backspace] key on the keyboard and it also serves as a backspace and web page browsing button that goes to the previous page.
So are you saying that the 3rd button on the TP2 is a combination of both the [del/backspace] and the okay button?
By the way...does the Touch Pro2's back button also apply settings when it presses [ok]?

Yes it functions exactly as the ok button on screen. I've just tried it out and it saves settings etc
Here's my attempt at a definitive answer to this. The back key
does the following:
-In Opera, if any text fiels is selected (ie, address bar, search bar, text box in website) it functions as the backspace key. (This is quite silly, I think)
-In Opera, if no text fields are selected, it functions as a back button.
-In all apps, it functions as an ok and minimize button. It will save settings. Eg, if you have the calculator app opened, pressing this button will minimize it.
-In level 1 TF3D tabs, it'll return you to the Home tab. Eg, if at Weather tab, it'll bring you to Home tab.
-In the Album app, if viewing a picture, it'll bring you back out to thumbnail view.
-In all 2nd level views of TF3D, it'll bring you back to the level 1 tab where you were. Eg, if you're in the Music Library, it'll bring you out to the Music tab.
-In Calendar day view, it'll bring you back to month view.

Thanks, I will highly consider swapping this for the Xperia X1 and paying maybe 100-150 dollars that the X1 can't pay for (if I get the money of course).
I wonder if anyone knows about what the "House" button on the T-Mobile Touch Pro2 is going to do. They switched it from a Windows Symbol into a House.

Don't thinks so... unless the app provides this (exit or something) but this is application specific.
Android depends on the back button, and the menu button.
I'll give you a example, i installed android on a Diamond. Now The diamond has 5 buttons in the front, 2 on the side, and one on the top.
The Dial and the other one are pretty obvious. The back key is just that, the BACK key. Now, the HOME key, is the menu key. I was missing the Home key, and really missing, like, how the hell do i get out of here?
Until i noticed, the Power button only powers the phone, it does not powers off.
When the phone is on, it acts as the HOME button.
Hardware keys, are a must on the droid...
You could use atools and reassign the back hardware button to one that works.
