Official HTC WM6 release - your opinions please

We've been waiting quite a long time for this moment, and finally it's here. All of you who already flashed official WM6 ROM into their Hermeses - please post your thoughts about it, how does it look like (screenshots are welcome), is it stable, does it lack some of the features, etc. For example: does it have VoIP on board? Is dialer and comm mgr 'old-style', or maybe 'touch-style'?
I hope that this topic could help us to decide whether to go for flashing official WM6, or maybe our chefs ROMs. Personally, I'm a little bit confused, if I should flash official, or Black Majik, or maybe wait for freshly cooked ROMs..? Thanks for all your input in advance.

My plan is to take this new ROM and do my first stripped-down Hermes ROM (used to do it on Blue Angel but not Hermes so far) for speed and simplicity.
If I work out how to add in any updated drivers our cooks here have fiund I will but at a later date once I've got the procedure down.

Basically, i'd like to know how the a2dp is on this ROM. I use a2dp a lot since my phone is also my mp3 player. So does this rom have updated/latest a2dp driver? or is it no different than the other official roms when it comes to a2dp? So far Sleuth's latest has been the one with the best a2dp but if this rom comes with new/updated/latest a2dp drivers then it should be better right? user opinions please

Dialer Screen SUCK... looks the same as old wm5 one, Office does not include onenote Splash suck. everything else at the moment ok.. i think i start using it for just few hours..

Caferoom, does that rom come with CE-Star or did you install it? Does it seem stable when you use the pinyin input from hardware keyboard? I have yet to fid a ROM that wasn't totally wrecked by installing CE-Star...THANKS!!

I install the Tradition chinese one with HTC X-button 1.51, but i got some problem,. When I end the program by X-button, I got the "shell" error and reset, after uninstall it works well, anyone have same problem?

But it work fine with X-button 1.5, no any problem this moment.

I m just wondering how much memory it takes?
Do this new rom take up more memory than wm5?

Why my is my Hermes so unstable...

Hey. I have installed one of the new roms (19209) and of this time, my hermes always hangs (etc. when i receive a call or so, or in the morning after wake up from standby...)
Before i had Shadow 2.0 without problems (also WM6). Now (after 19209) i installed Shadow 2.1 and my hermes always hangs???
What could i do??
Please help me.

I found that I was having the same issues, phone hard reseting itself and all sorts, I did the following to resolve:
Flash to Official wwe Windows mobile 6.0 AT&T rom
update my hard spl to the latest,
replace radio rom
update to WM 6.1 image of choice,
this is supposed to be an issue witht he big storage roms screwing with the phones storage, flashing to an original rom appears to resolve.

But before i flashed the Shadow 2.1 i have flashed an non big Storage Rom.
i havent tried to reflash radio yet, but i will do that and then flash an original ROm first.
Which ROM do you prefer?

Hihi....
personally I suggest you to flash an official rom first ,
then go to flash the PDAviet rom ( my OS version) ,
its lightning fast and yet stable. ^_^

2. Check for Bad Blocks via mtty (nothing found
3. Flash Official HTC Rom (non big storage)
4. Flash Radio 1.54.30.10
5. Flash MY OS PDAviet rom (Green & Clean Version)
6. Installed my prefered Software:
PhoneAlarm
Resco Explorer
Birthdays Today Plugin
Large Startmenu
FTouchSL v2.5
PCM Keyboard 0.14
PocketCM-0.20b
S2U2 0.99p
SPB Mobile SHell 2.0

Hmmm. The advice given was to flash the official AT&T ROM before doing anything else ... yet I do not see that step in the list of things you've done.
Instead I see you've flashed a different one. And you still remain unsatisfied with the outcome.
If your problems persist, I would highly suggest USING the advice you've been given before seeking additonal advice. If nothing else ... just out of respect for those who gave you that advice, to begin with.
Godspeed and good luck. I am personally happy with what WM6 is giving me, without needing to push the boundaries to where they are obviously currently at a breaking point with 6.1.
But If you absolutely find you have a NEED for WM6.1, where it's been stated to be somewhat flaky right now on the Hermes, I suggest you deal with that flakiness. After you've TAKEN THE ADVICE GIVEN, if it still doesn't work to your expectations, roll back and move on.
Just my own $0.02.

Hey isn't the "official HTC Rom" an official ROM?? Ill think it is an official non Big Storage.
Until yet no freezes.....

I hat couple of freezes in the last days. Now i have found some time to reflash the rom you given me the link. After that i would flash the 1.54.30.10 radio and the G&C rom from PDAViet.net.

I have flashed the B&C PDAVIET Rom. I dont know if this is a bug of the rom, but no my Hermes takes about 10 secs to wake up from standby!!! Now ill miss almost every call

As I had alluded to earlier, from following threads in this forum, it appears to me that the current WM6.1 ROM available is not yet ready for prime time. I have decided to remain happy with the 6.0 versions ... especially after reviewing the reports on exactly what has changed in 6.1 (not much).
Maybe it's time to honestly ask yourself if the currently available upgrade to 6.1 is really worth all this trouble.
Again, just my own POV here.

I have the same problem with more than 6 different wm6.1 roms... it's a serious bug in wm6.1, all roms!

It seems that the wakeup bug is gone now. Just soft-Reseted my phone. Now it wakes up normally.
The wake bug i just have in the PDAVIET B&C Rom one time, now its gone (hope a long time )
In the other 19209 roms from PDAVIET i havent some of this wakeup bugs (just the other issues mentioned before).
I will report back...

Probably not, what is it you are wanting to do?

I noticed my tytn battery seems to run out fast, even on a clean rom.
So i think the extended rom could be doing it.

Interesting theory...flash a standard carrier WM6 ROM...which should use the ext_rom for setup stuff....do some tests and see if that changes anything.
Though i gotta say it seems a bit of a strange conclusion that the ext_rom memory area is draining the battery?!?
Are you running a superstorage ROM then i take it?

I did it on my wizard and my battery life went to 2.5 days with slight use.

So maybe making an ext_rom with zero usage...which can be made with the HTC image editor if i remember correctly....do a quick search for it (or i may have it on file somewhere)..
flash it alongside a standard WM6 ROM (non superstorage)......dont bother booting and then flash the WM6/WM6.1 ROM of your choice?? essentially wiping the unused area of memory with zeros perhaps?
Id like to see the results of this if you do have a go?
Are you superCID? if so then flash a normal WM6 ROM, unlock the ext_rom and delete everything in there, this might do the same thing?

thanks for your help guys, But I don't know what you guys are talking about. I know how to cook my own rom by following noobie proof guides, but I have no idea what i'm doing (like no idea what the steps are actually doing to the rom, but i know what i'm clicking?)

Extended Rom Problems after installing Wm6.1 and going back to 6.0

After 3 terrible days dealing with diferent wm6.1 roms from here, I go back to my the old and stable K's Wm6 Final.
My experience with Wm6.1 has been completly awfull. HR, screen frezzes, white screens on load, no GSM, App crashes .... Even installing previously a official WWE rom.
I know that there are people working with 6.1 without problems but in my opinion, if somebody need a sure and confiable hermes phone better to stay away from 6.1.

Mmmm strange. I use the CRCs V11 since it is available and waiting for the next Shaps french one. Even if my hermes is "french", all applications are working fine (TomTom, a lot of GPS apps, Basic4PPC, astronomy softwares, PocketCM, Tcpmp, etc...). Even video calls are working fine. Battery consumption is fair (no push mail) with 1.47.00.10 radio rom. Till now i did not miss a call and speed is good (obviously, more you add apps, slower is your pda)
Btw, i always "flash" roms using sdcard method. IMO, it is the only reliable way (no possible usb deconnexion, so easy, PC independent,...)
Give a try to CRC's V11. Who knows? You could find your way through 6.1

I agree with you. So far try out so many ROM with WM6.1. Encounter all sort of problems like hang when making calls, network not found, auto hard reset. But only Pays WWE 3.00 Final Full this ROM I never face all this problems at all. Perhaps you might want to give a try on Pays ROM 3.00. Cheers!

CRC V11 stores elements in extended rom (as far as i know). If i can suggest something: As you experienced problems with 6.1, just start first with a rom which seems stable. As a test, it is not so important to be Big Storage or not

I have been using MRH 5.5 for several weeks now with out a single freeze. Works great.

definitely no problems. Unless you want to run microsoft's live search. The only thing that doesn't go and i haven't had a chance to tweak with s2u2 yet

Cloudyfa 's Shadow_TE 2.1 WM6.1 is a stable ROM.

Don't know. It could be a personal problem...
I went back to my well known K's Rom and the problems was still there. Now I'm sure that it is related to extended rom, that from time to time and without reason get automatically erased.
I have flash a well know oficial At&T Rom, as adviced by one of the best cookers here, then install again K's Rom final, and the problem disapeared for two days, but it is here again...
Does somebody know If I can flash just a oficial Extended Rom (instead of the full oficial AT&T Rom) or format the extended Storage with some program (pocket mechanic or some other like it)?. I'm a little tired of repeating the configuration proccess...

The problem still there.
When I was installing an App to the Extended_Rom the intallation hangs, and after reset all the contens of Extended Rom have dissapeared.
I found only a FilesToBeDeleted folder winth garbage inside (look at screenshoot)

I've always wanted to tinker around with WM6.1 but I too also found the Ext.Rom to be unstable...

I always found myself flashing back to the reliable Shamanix Ultimate 2.0 Final.
Finally, I tried this ROM:

And, It's been surprisingly stable and no Ext.ROM to deal with.

You might want to try the official dopod rom then back whichever 6.1 you want. I found mine was better after doing that.

Hopefully the problems is solved....
I reinstall the At&T, as adviced by Dr. Puttinghan, hard-spl 7, and then the Faria/Dr. Puttinghan Clean Rom.
Now, all is working without issues..

Hi guys, I tried this last night, yea its quick but as soon as i changed that iphone theme with something more like able, the Playboy Playmate Review by Phonatic and a few other Apps, it slowed down also it contains that activesync bug too. Gotta remember its Beta and hope some of our experienced cookers can rape and mark it with there own stamp !!

I had this rom for 3 days and it is really slow. I did not like the way it works and everything when a new message is received, I try to use the manilla it would hang. Hence I used the other 6.5 Rom from PDAviet. It is stable and also consume less battery than PDAMobiz rom.

I would love to have ExtraClean YuE 6.5.

I think its ever best window for artemis.
I am testing it to detect if any bug.

Hello, i'm Thai and very impressive with this rom after using 2 days.
I think he made this rom by using Extra Tools (Full SYS and Full XIP ported)
This rom use Camera software Ver 6.13 so you can fix focus quickly and include with Panorama Mode.
But the important is This rom is a beta Version.

Too bad the hardware does not support any kind of focus. It is impossible to get auto focus of any kind to work because the camera/lens simply cant support it. 6.13 is also included in Gullums rom and some other roms, unfortunately it wont allow you to focus on anything.
