AKU3.2 Rom Languages (and Packs)

Hello!
I started this thread in order to put all valuable information about language packs in here.
Here is also an answer from Ltd.Cmd.Ivan:

As far as I know, language packs from microsoft are preloaded into RAM (or ROM?) and can be chosen on initial start. After choosing right language pack, it is applied to the ROM and all packs are erased.
so we have 2 possibilities:
1. make our own translations
2. try to save the language packs from microsoft
as for number 1 we need to know, how a language pack is packaged - at least Buzz should know this, as Buzz already offers some language Packs for AKU2 on his website
as for number 2 we need some method to save the language packs from deletion so we can transfer them from the pocketpc.
any other ideas?

If I could get my hands on a new device with the language packs already on it (new AKU 3.2 device that has not been used yet), I could figure a way to extract them. The problem is that I am not aware of any devices with AKU 3.2 and the language packs that are available for sale.
Are there any devices being sold with these features yet?

I think, there are no AKU3.2 devices available yet. I assume Microsoft is shipping AKU3.2 installation packs to developers or cell phone network to make their customizations.
And that is a way how Ivan and others got AKU3.2: just somebody working for a developer or cell phone network made a copy of this or similar. Is that right, what I think?

Or some simply get their hands on a device prototype

Hmmm, that means either we must wait for availability or we make our own language packs.
Translations should not be a problem but the tricky part is the packaging into an installable. I wonder how microsoft wants to make an installed language pack to be permanent even after hard reset...

do a web search for 'Lang_v2.zip" this is a fairly complete guide for translating language files in WM5. It also has a direct german to english example. Also, if you aren't using Bepe's kitchen, you should. I recently tried to translate a chinese AKU 3.2 to english, it was build 15633, and the next closest english ROM I had to compare to was build 15603. It came out fairly well, though i couldn't change the keypad. it had no msim, but did have an sskim file. Also, use the DSMtool by bepe, this saves so much time in packaging files.

Greek language
Does anyone knows how to unlock an existing rom in order to use it i have greek Wizard Vodafone V1640 and Qtek Hellas Does not support it either Vodafone Greece. I have downloaded the latest firmware but it is locked. i just need to get the greek keyboard and language for my contacts is this possible

It should write a file (Windows\test) and a registry entry ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Test]"by"="bepe") to the rom.
This changes would also exists after a hard reset.
but, the package is not working yet, cos of signing... (I managed to get it working on my device, but thats all)
I think this is the way MS will distribute the updates....

Seems you are new here , dont know who is Mamaich , better look what his post and how he help people in here , maybe you had no ideal how made AKU3.2 rom ,and why everyone made any rom always said thanks Mamaich,I think you better said sorry to him,they are no any RUS rom for Uni in the world but I knew Mamaich can make it , but why he said sucks ? Russian interface sucks for 4 reasons.
1. Awful translation. Sometimes you need to translate a phrase back to English just to understand what it should mean. I call it "русЕфЕкация".
2. Localized interfaces look ugly - lines don't fit dialogs, font problems, etc.
3. Localized ROMs appear later than english, so you have to use obsolete OSes.
4. Localizations are made by Quarta and similar companies who do them via reverse engineering ROMs (extracting & translating resources, patching hardcoded strings, editing registry etc - I know what I'm talking about). In most cases this is done incorrectly, and such ROMs are unstable.
The best thing you can do - is to localize only the on-screen/hardware keyboard and select Russian regional settings. In this case you'll get a stable OS and an ability to use Russian.
Attached one screenshot (this is a russian version of Windows desktop search downloaded from microsoft site).

But there are already many ROMs have Chinese interface.The mui files and some dll files were all translated into Chinese.
However,I still love the English interface.What I did was only to replace wince.nls with a Chinese one, remove all the English inputs and SmartDialer,and replace the ttf file with Chinese file,also edit registry.Without mamaich,we can never do this.

Probably, I should apologize. My English not so is good, and I have understood a phrase literally - that Russia (instead of the Russian interface) - sucks. With your statements I absolutely agree. Itself and I do.

I think everything is OK right now. Russian fonts are already present in every ROM - either Helmi's or Ivan's or Jwrightmcps's. And there are a lot of russian keyboards to choose from. So everyone can use Mobile Word or smth to edit russian docs.
And it's not too difficult to remember some menu items in English even if the user doesn't know English.
And, sure, OS developers can not make english applications to run in russian.
So I don't see a problem.

After years of dealing with this problem i finally made a version that works myself..
fixes include:
* NO more device not waking after install
* NO BOOT freeze
* NO contacts\SMS menu not working
* FULL hardware keyboard of tytn/herm support
* Partial Hebrew translation with no menu interruption
* Works on ANY rom and From SDconfig with no problem

it means that you have to be logged in to download, try to log in again on does screens.

Which ROM did u stick with? I'm not sure if I want to return to PDACorner v27 or stay with CRC 14.1...
though the issue with the java emulator isn't resolved yet...
can't get Opera Mini to work with any version of Esmertec Java (and I mean ANY version...) gave it up, isn't that big a deal...

Activesync problem
First, thanks for the work!
It seems there is a problem with activesync, after installing the hebrew files activesync won't let me define a new Exchange server connection (won't even open the exchange pane)
Any ideas?

i think the BETA 1.0 version is without activesync translation..
BUT i checked this issue on mine device and it works fine so if any one else suffers from this please say so if not check your rom/reg tweaks..
anyways a better version is in the oven so maybe beta 4 will give better results

i dont belive you can tweak it without the language DLLs
if you're thinking about merging it with LENG
it won't work(probably)
still ill try to cook it for you right now..

Actually, I was trying it out on new roms I was testing (PDAViet, REVROM) so maybe it is a build version issue (2092xx...), in these versions you get a page with links instead of the regular wizard

sorry to disappoint but....
The bug with device not waking up after standby is back in this version - I've hard reset my device with the same ROM the version 2/3 worked on and it made it die... (rip)
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Heb3.zip version and it worked just fine.
did any of you succeed in making any java emulator work with this hebrew version? doesn't work for me...

i tried this cabs
it doesn't work, it asks to register the version and Hebrew is left to right
i installed first the certificate and then the main cab
i tried the cabs on abusalsa v.27 rom

worked for me but ill recook it 4u and check whats wrong..
its wierd cause i just added the control didnt really change much of it. meanwhile you can use the previous version with the hebcontrol.exe..ANYWAYS im trying to port wm6 hebrew from asus which will work much much better cause this one is based on wm5 .. coming soon..

BTW I only tried thus far; heb3.zip version, and the wording is messed up left to right, so internet explorer is spelled backwards in hebrew. I am hoping its all fixed up in this version. I'm english first hebrew as backup (for wife) make a new update!

its a known issue its probably cause your not using tytn

YES it works on any wm6.1 providing u r using tytn/hermes; if it does not match the certifacte store from tytn it will show hebrew backwards same on the original versions from the other threads..
BUT im working on herbew for-all-has-nothing-to-do-with-pdac version

Theres is a problem with some symbols in the hardware keyboard layout
if u want to repair this without uninstalling
download this file:

hey man, what do you mean? aek is embedded with hebrew layout so you dont need to set it up or install it yourself..maybe you downloaded the wrong version? there are two, the bottom one with hardware and the upper one without..
and as for hikeyboard, i didnt wanna post with no SIP so its just temporary untill my next version, but i think the trial is unlimited, if not let me know

i meant that i used your:
1) Hebrew cab for Hebrew fonts and regional settings
2) hikeyboard for the hebrew letters keyboard
3) AEKeymap for the hardware keyboard
when i installed the hikeyboard he asked me if i want to use it as the hardware keyboard but it didn't worked so i reinstalled the AEKeymap again.

its a very simple support(unlike eyron or pdac) so i guess unless someone finds out a rom in which it doesnt work will go with any.

yes and pretty much every new rom thats circulating in this forum.
its a very simple support(unlike eyron or pdac) so i guess unless someone finds out a rom in which it doesnt work in we'll go with any.

Your hebrew works great on the WWE3 for the Magician-still didn't realize if it is a 2003SE with wm6.1 theme or a completely new cooked ROM.

I tried installing it on Motorola q9c smartphone but shows hebrew in wrong direction. Also how do i switch keyboard layout from english to hebrew

i dont really know that phone but this is pda based so dll wise
smart phones are not fully compatible to anything in this forums.
to change the key setting u can use AEKMapScan in \program files\aekmap\ press the key/s that u want to use to switch layouts find out the "key code" then edit AEKMap.cfg and change the line
SwitchKey 007A to
SwitchKey ****=your code

Happy to inform that the recent version works great on all Hermes ROMs I tried so far!
Is this an indication that the keyboard is the main cause of previous failures? (that's the only visible difference I could see).
Anyway - great work!
Obviously a soft keyboad would be nice, but this is already very nice!

every ROM i have tested till mr. nimits showed up was dramatically decreased on performance after ANY Hebrew installation i tried.

my guess is that INBiDi20.dll doesnt self register properly, if u got any version of hebrew that did work maybe u can try replacing it with any dll that has bidi in its name from the working version
otherwise i cant really help cause i dont have that phone to test on so it will be a waste of time.. GL

Glad to hear and to add that it also works on the new wm6.5 21189 builds flawlessly..
the previous failures are cause eyron pdac and paragon are a bunch of greedy
bastards that dont like to work but like to take our money so they did as less as possible whilst developing their hebrews
