Hello,
I broke my touch screen and I change it with new from ebay, but after install it the rotate screen doesn't work, it was working fine with the other screen.
Can it be from the screen who don't have this function? Maybe I must upgrade the Universal again with the Rom to recognize the new screen?
Can some one help me?
Many thanks.
Jean Marc.
Hi,
What do you mean by "rotate screen" not working?
You are unable to "rotate", or change the orientation of the screen by yourself, when you press the relevant system setting option?
Or instead you are speaking about the auto-rotate screen function that is trigerred when you put (turn) the display facing the keyboard or facing you?
The answers will be different...
Regards,
P
If I remember correctly, there is a tiny magnet that is clipped on the edge of the screen housing that controls the orientation of the screen. Make sure that magnet didn't pop out while installing the new screen. Look in the Universal Service Manual to get details.

Hello,
I speak about auto-rotate screen function when I turn the screen, I didn't saw any tiny magnet clipped on the edge of the screen housing, I will chek on manual.
Thanks.
Have a look at the following thread. I know it's for the Hermes, but it shows pics of the kind of magnet you are looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1449001&postcount=6
You will also be able to work out where it should be, by locating the magnet operated switch - again there are pics of what to look for.

I had the same problem
Hello Jean Marc
I also had this problem, you just forgot the little magnet mounted near the screen, it's used to tell uni if it's landscape or portrait ...
Good luck

Thank you
Hi,
I am facing the same problem.
I got the phone yesterday and just trying to set it up properly.
I use gyrator 2 and have the same problem that you mentioned.
Also, currently trying to figure out way for the screen lock thing.
I downloaded pocketlock. It is good but will need something better.
To rotate manila (today screen with touchflo) you need a custom rom with "rhodium manila"
shah1237-- try LockMeLite (LmL) found here on forums (screen lock app)
and for a proper screen rotate app try here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468488&highlight=rotate+screen
I have found a little problem.
The touch screen work good with a keyboard, but it has a little error with precision while drawing with a program like magicmarker or any others applications. On the left size of the screen the point i touch is not centered like on the right size.
Example :
- on right size the points i draw are perfectly in the middle of my finger
- on left size the points i draw are about 2-3 millimeters and the right of the middle of my finger
How can i fix it ?
hi there,
The desire has a capacative display, which works by measuring the capacitance change when you touch the screen, by way of the magnetic field of your body, this way the screen does not need calibrating because of the way it works.
Hope this helps.
im sure someone will correct me if im wrong
I tend to agree with the original post. I wondered earlier here if there is a way to align the screen (such as with WinMo). Especially when browsing I easily click the wrong links, I have carefully checked where my finger tip touches the area, but the wrong link etc is actioned. There is a way to somehow correct it for typing, but think thast all.... ??
1. Is there is simple way, without loading an alternative launcher, of having more than two home screens?
2. I can't seem to get the hand gesture to work to take a photo. Is there something I am missing?
Thanks for any advice
Alan
1. Pinch to zoom out (bring two fingers together) in home screen to show current screens and add more.
2. Hand gesture only works in front facing camera. Make sure your hand is flat to the screen and your fingers are apart. Once it has been recognized (it should show a box around it) close it slowly.
Good luck
Many thanks. Nice and easy - you just have to know these things
regards
Alan
No problem!
Am I missing something? I want a bigger font on outside and smaller on inside. I see no option for this. Wtf? Seems dumb.
I agree. I also want the font on the front keyboard to be bigger on the front screen. I haven't found a workaround.
Try using Bixby routines.

Yep. Or Tasker.
Yeah I'm with you on this one front fonts are way to small
I played around with the minimum width numbers in developer options and adjusted the numbers to where i like them from with in the inner screen. I've noticed that when you go in the minimum width settings from the front screen the numbers are different then when u go in from the inside screen and if you try and adjust them from the front outer screen they won't stick they just default to there original numbers ?
Just tested with Bixby Routine but if doesn't work well. It often doesn't change as it is actually configured which is annoying.
Samsung will probably get around to enabling it latter...
Hello,
sometimes I'll find usefull using the fold in 'stand' mode, semi flexed about 60 degrees, and working with the front display/camera, is this even possible? I can't find any 'mode' to force using the front display instead of the internal one.
Also, it will be usefull to use the front screen camera while using the phone semiflexed, but again, I can't find the way to select this camera while semiflexed and with the internal display in use.
Thank you !
Hello,
I don't know what settings you have but at 60° I still can see the exterior screen here and front camera is matching exterior too. I tested with closed phone, start screen then open at 60°.
Ok at 45° it's switching to internal screen. Not sure what you mean, but you can play with labs settings and flex mode.

Hey ric, you point me out to my problem, If the front screen is 'on' y can open the phone until more or less 60º, i was ttryng the opposite, start with the phone opened, and begin closing it. Thank you!
Regarding the use of the front screen camera while in flex mode and using the inner screen, is this possible?
Wait i don't understand. If you are watching front screen, front camera is working. But I think it's impossible to use internal camera (no sense to do this no?) Try also modes and routines if you want to test actions with folding status

sorry, i didn't explain it right.
I want to use the fold in flex mode, or even unfolded, but be able to switch (inside the camera app) all over the cameras, even the one in the front 6.2 screen
Why don't you turn the Fold 180° and youse the main camara at the Back. Ok, the phone lays on the front display in this case. Put a silk or paper towel under it and it will be fine.

that's the reason, because I don't have anything protecting the front screen, but yes, that's always an option. Anyway, samsung should let us use all the cameras while unfolded.
well, maybe they should. In my opinion the front camara is the least favourite one to use in almost all possible situations. Selfie? Use the main cam unfolded with the front display as preview. Video call? The display cam under main screen does a good job for video calls and the big screen is amazing for that. Semiflex? Use the main cam for things behind the phone, it's amazing for that.
Just don't use the front cam. I mean, ok, if you need a quick mirror to check your face, than it's the quickest cam ready to check. But in other cases i avoid the front cam.
