I have a Tmobile Dash with the latest Kavana 6.1 ROM loaded and the backlight is always on. It will go to the dim mode when I lock it but it will not shut off completely. I have noticed if I put the phone in airplane mode with the "phone" function disabled then the backlight will turn off.
Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
Start, settings, power managerment, set the backlight and display settings to your liking.

Yeah im using both, still no internet sharing for g1 and all my games i have on dash i missed too much. Plus the new rom kicks butt!
Heck yah which one are you using? are you using the remake version or the NRG version?
I have tried that. I have changed all three of the settings around multiple times but cannot seem to get the screen to go black while on battery power. I noticed it will go black while the charger is plugged into it. So it looks like just when it is on battery. So any other suggestions?

bump it up
Try reflashing your rom and see if that helps, there might just be a messed up reg key in there...

Try this:
Open Lowlight
Close Lowlight
Lock Keypad
Tell me if it works
This was happening to me to and the only way I was able to solve it was to do a reflash of the rom on the phone.

Just upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.1, and for whatever reason, if my phone is unlocked and idle, it no longer goes to "sleep." Instead of the backlight turning off like in WM6, the backlight goes full brightness and displays a white screen. Has anyone seen this before? Any workaround/fix?
Thanks!
Sounds like you got the wrong display driver for your phone. What phone and what ROM are you running ?!

I've had this problem before!
It happened when I was playing with the power management settings in the Registry. I found if I then locked my phone (e.g. long press of hang up button), the screen would time out and go completely white on full brightness.
To fix it was easy enough - just change the power management reg keys.
Once I screwed them up soo much I had to do a hard reset so watch out before playing.
Mine has been doing this also, I believe it may have something to do with the Light Config option in CeleTask. Will test more

And what should I change the power management reg keys to?
Could you give more detailed instructions, including which keys to change, and what to change them to?
Thanks!

Yes I believe so too because it only happens when I use the low light option as well.
first off try....
go into power management under settings.
1. backlight time out on battery should not be set to never.
2. backlight time out on AC could but it still will turn off after the time period you have set for the next setting.
3. Display timeout- will turn off the display off completely after the time period set here.
1 and 2 low dim the screen prior to setting on 3
turn lowlight off... it hardly ever works. lol
Hi everyone!
I've installed Myn's Warm Donut and it works, but when i lock the phone with power button i have white screen! I've tried all panels! What can i do?
Thanks for the answer!
When you lock or when you turn the screen on again?
EVERY android kernel has a bug with screen wake up. If, in your case that happens, its perfectly normal, that white screen stays for like only a second and then android lock screen shows up. Press menu key and ur device will unlock. Sometimes that white screen stays, in that case just press Menu color again if that white screen still stays, you need to change the panel. Its impossible that white screen stays for infinite time. Mind to have a radio version greater than 1.65

Colours messed up?
white screen keeps there FOREVER?
Its time to change panel, try using Type 1 first, later try type 2 and type 3 is for exceptional cases
Every kaiser device has different panel type. Mine, HTC TyTn II KAIS130 has panel type 1 and another guy over here has same device he's using Panel 1 too. Warbyte has KAIS130 as well but he's using Panel 2. Its you who figure out that THIS panel is not working fine, lets try another. At maximum u understand it after two tries. And mostly you get a fine screen with fine colours in first try.
Only CHANGE panel if that white gibberish screen stays on for ever.

Disable Location feature, disable GPS Satellites, set Screen brightness to minimum. Keep Wifi off, disable Automatic sync, keep your memory clean and use a task manager, use 2G mode if you are not using 3G. Disable Data connection and enable it only when needed
This is the second time on 2 different roms that somehow my phone has been stuck with a black screen and when unlocked the screen stays off. Its a bit hard to explain but pressing power lets the screen to come on for just a second but then it goes off...yet on the black screen you can slide it unlocked (screen stays off) A reboot goes back to the same issue. after many button combos the screen will finally stay lit. The only way I have found to cure it is to uninstall lightflow. (Im really not sure thats what is causing it) If you dont change anything when you lock it your right back into the black screen thing..... Anyone seen this using lightflow or not??
I've had this problem to. I had it when I was using the phone on stock without lightflow, as well as using it with HD revolution and light flow. I have no idea why its doing this though?
I had this problem when I used the app "Wave Launcher". I found the most effective way to keep the screen on is to call the phone, stay in the call, and uninstall the app..

Are you running the 350 mhz idle mod or UVing? Seems like your phone isn't getting enough juice.
I emailed the dev's a few days ago. They came back with the response to uncheck "s6e8aa0 control", which I believe is disabling access to the main screen. I haven't seen the sleep of death since. He also said to look for a future update which removes this option.
Hope that this was a helpful first post!

I have the same problem today! When light flow is active the screen goes on for a second and then stays black.
Sadly I can't find "s6e8aa0 control" in the newest version. Can anyone help?
Got it working. I should use the correct settings^^
But the program is not working how I would like it :/
[APP][ROOT][1.6-4.0] ButtonLED
EDIT: I figured out that we can actually control the LED notification light with this app now. Instead of using the file for the capacitive buttons, just substitute it for one of the LED files.
Green - /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/led:green/brightness
Red - /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/led:red/brightness
Remember to also enable it in Accessibility! It still doesn't work well for any time less than 1 second, but I don't feel like that's a huge deal.
If you want to use the button LED, you can still use that file as well.
Since the OG's notification light (or frequency) is shameful to say the least, I just discovered this app today and it's sooooo handy for our phones even though it was meant for phones with no LED at all. Basically, it uses the capacitive buttons as a notification light.
Download the HDPI version and install it.
When you first open it, you have to tell it where the button backlight file is since it's different on every phone. Ours is located at /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/leds/button-backlight/brightness.
Lastly, scroll down in the main menu to where it says "Enable ButtonLED in accessibility" and click on it. It'll take you to the system accessibility settings where you just have to toggle it on.
It took me a little while of playing with the settings to get it working how I wanted, and you can do the same. I have noticed a few issues here and there, but overall it works pretty great. One thing I found was that if you try to set the LED on time to anything less than 1 second, it just does a real quick flash, regardless of what length you chose. Personally, I like 1 second on, 1 second off.

Thanks for posting. :good:
Have you noticed any change in battery life? Reading the developer's posts, when the notification lights are active the phone doesn't sleep.

No difference so far, but I don't think that I've had a notification that I haven't seen and cleared within five minutes. I'd be interested to see what the drain is if it goes unmonitored for a couple of hours.

Not the biggest difference in the world but it is affecting it its always at the top of the battery stats
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I can't even get this app to let me change where the led is located. How did you get it to work?
Edit: never mind I simply had to update my busy box version
BTW: I love you for finding this app
LOL, nevermind, nice find!

Hey thanks I've been looking for this, but if you've tried cm10 the led notification is kinda amber greenish, i wanted to know if i can get that same color, is it possible?

Not with this app unfortunately. You can either tell it to use the green color or the "red" (orange) color for the LED and that's it.
Works on stock kernel?
Is this supposed to work with stock ZVC kernel?
Test works, and the logs show that ButtonLED detects and processes my notifications, but it won't light the led.
I tried everything, what he says here too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37134835&postcount=338
But terminal gave me an error creating the path.
does that means it's not supported?
I'm facing this issue since yesterday. I think that was after I actived reading mode, night mode or something like that, but couldn't find it anymore.
When I press the Settings button, for some milliseconds the color goes back to normal, with a neutral temperature. Then I open the notifications menu, it turn yellowish again; and neutral when I close the notifications. But turns yellow again when I close the Settings.
What's happening and how to solve it?
Are you using cyanogen? If so, try turning off livedisplay in display settings. If it doesn't work, try resetting your device or change to another rom. If it still doesn't work, then I guess it's a hw problem.
IIRC there's a night mode in stock. Could you post details about your phone?

Uninstalled CM Locker, it was solved. So it's probably an option within it. But I'm not using it anymore.
