Can i flash without my sim card in the phone and then put it back in and have my contacts on a new ROM? because im sick of redoing my contacts
it shouldnt erase your contacts thats on your sim....i think you have your contacts saved on the phone...not the same.
use sim manager to copy all contacts to sim and you can flash while having the sim card in as well.
but to be on the safe side try to pull it out before flashing and just use sim manager again to transfer contacts from sim back to the phone.

Sure dude sim card has nothing to do with flashing. Save all your contacts to sim first and keep it in the phone or take it out; doesn't matter

Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705 Works really well. You can do a backup and save it to your SD card or desktop, flash, and restore.

Quick Question
I just recently got the 8528 and it came with the phone, headphones (alhto my cat chewed them), disc, and the new sim card.
My old sim card is full of phone numbers. (I like keeping them on the sim card and not the phone)
Cingular said I needed to use the new sim card for 3g.
I was going to by a usb sim flasher so I could transfer my number over to my new one but I was wondering:
Is there any program for or on the phone that will allow me to dump my sim card and then put it on my new one? If not I'll buy the usb flasher but I was hoping there was...
Thanks all,
nomb
At least on a decent TyTN there is a "SIM Manager" which copies them to the PDA and vice versa. Have you tried it?
Thats what I'm using now just for the contacts, I was hopeing to be able to copy everything over at once. Like a backup -> restore type operation.
why dont you copy everything onto the device, then insert the new sim card and copy everything back to the card?
i save copy of my contacts in my SIM as backup if i need to restore my phone. but now the problem is tht the contacts from SIM card gets automatically copied into phone memory.. wht could be the reason. i use 3VO series rom. any1 having same problem??
I think that your phone is merely just seeing the contacts rather than copying them into your phones memory....
Just got a replacement sim card and want to put all my phone contacts onto it. The three options I see under Import/Export are:
Import from sim card
import from sd card
export to sd card
If I select any of them, I only have the options to create account under either Google or Phone. How do I get these onto the sim card?
contact2sim (free) on the market did the job for me simon.
You may have to reboot the phone once they've been copied over to the Sim-card before you can see them but it works well.

Hi, yesterday i rooted my HTC and flashed this ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674767
Everything seemed fine, looks cool, works pretty smooth but then i saw one problem. I cant import my contacts from sim card to phone. It says there are no contacts there. My question is can i export them thru adb or sth to my sd card and then load the file? I've read that exporting from sdcard works fine, but i dont want to flash it back to stock rom. Is there any way to do this ? Perhaps put sim card and sdcard to another phone and export it from there ?
Thanks in advance
Yup, many non stick ROMs won't read sim properly so either import from SD or link to Google account so you never have to worry again
I changed recently my sim card and i try to change with new card, but it is failed to recognize both sim card and SD card. I tried to replace with old sim, but the result is same. I also tried sim slot 2 still the situation is same. Any suggestion or advise will be appreciated

You should disassemble the phone and see if something has gotten inside the sim area.

Hi Raja, I can't speak to the SD card (because I don't have one in my phone), but I had something similar happen to my sim yesterday, when I ejected the sim carrier.
Before I'd consider taking apart the phone you might consider a shim for the sim. I used a piece of paper under the sim to push it up and make better contact with the "pins" of the sim socket. Working fine now.
