So, I have the Kavana/Rickys v23 of WM 6.1.
I tried to install/use Opera mobile 8.65 on it, but none of the buttons/inputs functioned properly.
I know it has Opera Mini pre-installed, but it doesn't even work properly and I really prefer to use Opera Mobile as I hate IE.
Anyone else had this problem? Know a way to make it work properly?
Thanks!

Do you have the correct keymap when you write a text?
Why doesn't Mini work?
I apparently don't have the proper keymap, even for Opera Mini. When I try to type letters, all I get are symbols, etc.
How can I correct the keymap?

Ok, well for whatever reason, I upgraded to the latest Opera Mini, and it's working now. Also tried re-installing Opera Mobile and it's working as well. *shrug*. Probably user error =)

Hey Stylez, maybe you can help me out on this....running NRG's new ROM and just started running Opera Mini 4.1 on it....made sure to download the correct version for the phone but it's not reading the keypad correctly...it's reading it as if this is a standard phone keypad (IE 6=mno). I know there was a fix for this way back when but I'm struggling trying to find it with it by searching.
keymap works correctly for everything else on phone. Any ideas?

For anyone that runs into this same issue. Go to settings and disable the check box for auto-complete address input. For some reason, it limits your address input to only using the numerical keypad for numbers. Uncheck it and your address input will function with full use of the dash keyboard. Go figure.
This is an old problem as far as I know. I remember having to do that everytime I installed Opera Mini, even on Kavana's old ROM...
Ok, have one other hopefully quick question.
I upgraded to opera mini 4.1, but when I press the t-zones button it still points to the old version 4.
How can I change where the t-zones button points to, so it opens the new version of Opera Mini.
opera mini
I'm having a problem with opera mini. I'm running rickwatts v24 no opera. After changing cprs, dll, and ttfs, decided to try opera mini 'cause I hear alot of people love it and prefer it over anything else.
I downloaded 4.1 from their website and installed it, now here's the problem.
My custom font is being used by the opera mini displaying everything on it, making it unreadable. I tried using the original cpr but even after the homescreen goes back to original, the opera mini still comes up with the altered font. I uninstalled it ,and reinstalled it and no difference.

No problem, I had the same issue when I first got opera and, I think it was stylez that told me what to do. If you ever use nrgz mini weather and you have an font issue in the options page , I also have a fix for that.

Thanks - I just got opera and love it's speed loading pages on a slow wifi.
installed the kavana revamped with opera. Found the install opera icon in the extras folder.
I open it, it asks if I want to "Intsall Opera". I click ok, and nothing happens. So I tried going to the opera site and installing it from there. It worked great. Fast, and really an impressive program.
Problem is that once I closed it down it was nowhere to be found.
I had tweaked things around quite a bit, and changed some stuff up trying to get used to the kavana.
So i went ahead and did a "master reset". Figured I'd start fresh (on the second day" and ask for a little help.
I found a few threads concerning making opera the default browser, but none on the install.
oh yeah. on a side note. how do I turn off the xt9 predictive text? I hate it. I'm kinda old fashoned, I type everything out, periods, comma's, etc. lol wtf
Opera Mini will be under Java or Jbed? can't mem what in the ROM.
Turn off predictive in an input boix FN+Space choose ABC
What I did for Opera Mini was create a shortcut on my internet panels using chome configurator, so all I got to do is click on it from the panel to open java/jbed and I launch it from there.

Make a shortcut the post above may work but will depend on the Java Jbed? in ROM.
Anyone installed this and got passed the disclaimer? It installed fine, but after scrolling down the disclaimer and trying to press the accept button it does not go down far enough. Any ideas?

I couldn't get passed that point, either. I would guess the Opera developers are concentrating on touch screens now and don't do much testing on standard devices anymore.
After trying for about 10 minutes to get passed that point, I gave up and deleted the program.
same problem here..

i dont have the link since im on my phone but one of the developers confirmed that windows mobile standard isnt compatible with the new beta. i would doubt if they ever do.

Maybe they should say that on their download page because they indicate that it IS compatible. It just reinforces my negative opinion of Opera on all platforms.
im using it on my Dash, the only problem is that you need to download FakeCursor so you can accept. After that you made need to use FakeCursor again to goto settings and such, but other than that it works great!

If you have a closer look you´ll find several QVGA versions.
Also there are the newest Opera Mini versions, which I find fit better on Excalibur

To me it just isn't worth the trouble to go through just to get it to work. Opera is a has-been by now. Firefox Mobile will be coming out in a bit, and right now UCWEB6 works great, as well as Skyfire. So there just isn't a need for Opera anymore.
Should the zoom bar work with Opera 9.7? I've just installed the latest Jacko S2 ROM and the zoom bar doesn't do anything. Is there a reg setting which enables it?

See post #2 in the thread below. If there is an issue with a particular ROM, you should post to that ROMs thread, if you haven't already.

Thanks. I posted a couple of queries in the thread for this ROM but have never got any replies. I'll try again.
I checked the registry and the setting referred to in the link is already there :0(

That's strange. I use Jackos S2 as well, and my zoombar works without applying any tweaks. So this is not ROM-related... At least not the version SkrobPRO 1.2.1 'cause this one I use.
Nevertheless try to apply the fix proposed by @Redpoint. I have this reg setting present in my system, and it seems to be there from the very flash.
Sorry, but the Jackos' thread grows so fast that I didn't notice your posts...

Do you mean this one?
[HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Opera Browser]
"FullPath"="\Windows\Opera9.exe"
If so, I already checked and it was already set this way :0(
I'm sorry then. The only clue I can give you is that my zoombar works with Opera. So I'm afraid you have to check your apps/mods.
have you checked that Oper9.exe in the windows folder had a capital O? that used to be the problem and a quick fix.

Now that's strange - the zoom bar is now working again, and I hadn't taken any measures to correct it. It could have been a soft reset which revived it?
Thanks for the tips in any case.
Now this is bizzarre...after another soft reset the zoom bar is now SCROLLING instead of zooming - i.e. skipping up and down the elements in a web page. WTF????
Are you sure you never installed anything like zoomads or ZoomBarPlus?

Pretty sure. I'm absolutely sure that I didn't install it in the last hour (i.e. since the zoom bar briefly started zooming correctly in Opera).
Is there another reg setting that controls the use of the zoom bar? Ideally I'd like it to zoom in Opera, but scroll in Outlook for example.
I've also noticed that the zoom bar works fine in Excel (i.e. it zooms, rather than scrolls). I just can't get it to zoom in Opera again. Does this give any clues??
Another observation...if I manually run OperaL.exe (as opposed to Opera9.exe) from the Windows folder the zoom bar does work, albeit not very smoothly. I have no idea what OperaL.exe is however
???
nothing should scroll if you dont have a custom rom or installed a program like zoombarplus or whatever. changes to the zoom bar settings will only happen with a restart/soft reset.
Opera Mobile official thread
have a look on my signature to find all related to Opera
I've had the zoom bar scroll in Opera 9.7 on the Energy ROM, but only very very rarely. As in once or twice in a month, and exiting Opera and restarting it fixed it. Never installed any type of scrolling CAB or mod for the zoombar.
Did you try a hard reset? And did you run Task29 before flashing the ROM?

I haven't tried a hard reset, and didn't run Task29 before flashing (I only just Googled Task29 to find out what it was!).
Is it normal for both Opera9.exe and OperaL.exe to exist in the Windows folder (e.g. are they different versions of Opera?), or does this suggest that I should have run Task29 before flashing?
OK I finally managed to work around the problem by (re)installing Opera 9.7 from a CAB. Now the zoom bar is zooming again!
This is driving me nuts....now zoom bar in the newly-installed Opera 9.7 has started scrolling instead of zooming. The behaviour appears to be random. Has anyone else had this problem???
Hi hi.
I'm having the exact same problem, now running Jackos S3 SleekBasic 1.0.1. I'm out of solutions. Did you manage to solve the problem?
i've tried searching but no luck. the problem is that opera mini next is (i think) recognizing the note II as tablet as the buttons that used to sit at the bottom of the screen are now showing up (right side of the address bar) which makes it very difficult to use and also the long press menus and opera settings and everything is gone so small. please suggest any solutions if there are to make the things in opera as they used to be on all previous devices.
BTW 'm using stock rooted rom.
Is there no way to tell Opera Mini that it is on a phone and not a tablet in the settings? If you don't solve the problem try Boat Browser. Stupid name, brilliant customizable browser.
