Now that it is easier to unlock these could anyone please tell me the vodafone gprs settings that they have found to work. Vodafone themselves only offer settings for the XDA and will not officially support the phone.

Here's what I got to work:
GPRS - using My ISP Setting:
Cellular Line
AP name - internet
User/Password: web/web
In advanced set the servers and DNS to auto.
Voicemail:

SMS Centre Number:

MMS:
Server name: vodafone
Gateway: 212.183.137.12
Port: 9201
Server address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
Hope that help - and if anyone knows that any of the above are incorrect pllease let me know as I trawled the forum and various private web sites for them....

i do have more of them for different networks, and different settings for contract or pre-pay. (thats if they are different)

Can you confirm that the settings I have above are correct then.. Does your cab do everything - mms, gprs, sms etc etc?

sms.. message centre number should be in the sim and is not part of the cabs
it will set the GPRS up and a seperate MMS AP if needed (again depending on the network)
these are not cab files i have made they are from imate and for the PDA2k
i use them all the time for XDA, XDA2 XDA2s/i etc etc

i would think the best thing is for you to install the virgin cab on your xda then look at the conections it makes, then use this info to set up the c500, then just run the voda cab on your xda to put it back to how you wont it

A couple of suggestions for the User CP / Edit Profile page:
GSM provider should be changed to simply Provider as some providers only support UTMS. A case in point is Three Australia, which should be added to the list of Providers.

Yes... go abroad and use GSM roaming...
If you want to use it in Three network in Italy, change to HTC Hermes (HTC TyTN) or other UMTS (3G) device. Other way is to change network to GSM one.

You should just go to the menù voice 'options/opzioni' , choose the tab 'network/rete' and select 'manual/manuale' from the top-down menù 'network selection/selezione della rete' then select a GSM network (Tim in your case).

if three in Italy are anything like Three in the UK, they lock their SIMs to their own branded handsets.
There will be a small application running on the SIM which looks for some corresponding code on the handset itself which Three put in all their customised firmware. If the SIM does not see this code on the handset, the SIM does not initialise or register to the network.
Network selection
Hi, I have similar problem, I`m abroad now and want to change network. Whatever I click:
network selection
find network
set network
I get just responce, that the service is not available at this moment. When I put the sim card to other phone, I`m able to chnage the mobile network without any problems. Have you heard about any problems with changing networks on XDA Orbit?
I`m currently in Bulgaria, but it shouldn`t matter as it works with other phone.

I think the reason is very simple: 3 is UMTS only, P3300 is GSM.
Well, actually I don't know if you can use 3 in roaming with TIM for GSM....

I have selected "Mobilcom Austria" which is not really the provider's name... it is now named "A1" (http://www.a1.net/)
Mobilkom Austria is the big enterprise behind it all (not only GSM but also ISP, phone ...) the GSM provider is called A1

When i turned on my dopod this message appeared. I am with Fido, and in Canada, Ontario, Toronto. Is there a way i can manually input settings so that my network wizard can adjust in order to work with fido/rogers? The only list of countries that i see in the network wizard is asian and other operators, no US or Canada.
Does noone have a solution to add Canada into the network wizard? it would be reallly helpful because other countries are added to this .cab file i found but canada is not included.
