Ornage UK ROM update - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hi,
I just bought HTC Touch Diamond from EBay which is locked to Orange UK. I can't upgrade the ROM from the official HTC website. I wonder will the "official ROM" posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413910
specifically "RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2" will work? Or do I risk bricking my phone?
Thanks!

Thanks, is Europe ROM Upgrade compatible with my device, because HTC website didn't let me download it.
Check with HTC support where was you phone manufactured. They will need your S/N for this.
I was surprised to find out that my phone was mad in Czech republic.
I have the same problem. I can't download from htc website
I've tried the ROM from htcpedia and it works fine!
thanks Lennyz1988

http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Rhodium/
I will see if I can post the saved files after they download.....
As long as your Rhodium has Hard SPL on it you can install ANY Rhodium os... You should be able to find it on this site if you look....

T-mobile Rom Vs Orange Rom vs Vodafone Etc

Hi,
Iv been searching the forum and cannot find info on the above or its scattered all over. Just thought Id make a new Thread so those of whom have played with their Desire from Orange and T-mobile can feedback on the carriers roms.
I am an existing Tmobile customer and was thinking of going to Orange this time round however im not sure who to take.
This may also be helpful to those who are a bit wary or dont want to flash the original stock Rom..
So People plz update with your findings on the Network Roms placed on your phones.
thanks
Orange is apparently badly branded, the handset also carries the orange logo.
T-mobile is virtually unbranded apart from a T-Mobile startup animation and the internet icon changed. No branding on the handset itself.
I have a desire from Virgin mobile, it has a Virgin logo on startup, and came with a desktop shortcut to the virgin mobile site which I deleted. No other branding though.
no branding on orange if you get the nadset from carphone warehouse

Hmmm. I bought an unlocked and supposedly unbranded Desire from clove.co.uk and that has the original Desire startup logo HOWEVER does have a Virgin Media desktop shortcut. :/
orange branding can be removed by flashing the HTC generic ROM, and that also allows you to update when HTC release updates and no need to wait for orange to do that.
Is there an actual way to tell if it's generic apart from visually? Firmware version etc?

Yes. If it is firmware version 1.15.405.3 or 1.15.405.4 it is generic.

Yep, unbranded from CPW.
Bloke brought mine out the storeroom before he knew what carrier I was on.

Thanks! Mine is 1.15.405.4 so that would mean Generic? Yet it has a Virgin Media shortcut/homepage. No matter I guess, it works fine.
Bought mine from CPW on Vodafone. No branding and unlocked. Firmware version 1.15.405.4.
It also updated the software OTA so now shows Android 2.1 - update 1
Got mine on contract from Vodafone. No branding, but not latest software.
Firmware Version : 2.1-update1
Software : 1.15.161.4
Orange Desire
Any confirm that you can simply download htc rom for desire and replace orange one easily? Desire is fantastic phone Orange have messed up stuff by putting games and apps on I just don't want, where they have put Gtalk I don't know, the service is running but the app is no where to be found.
Just been on the HTC website and I can't find the HTC Desire anywhere??
am I going blind... is it just me??
Was looking for an official desire ROM to get rid of this Orange crap that's been dumped on my new shiny toy!

that is the latest FW for Vodafone devices - 1.15.xxx.4 is the latest (1.15.405.4 is the generic unbranded, sim-free Desire)

It's not on there but someone put it in ROM development (1.15.405.3) and you should be able to get the OTA afterwards

It just doesn't exist on the orange Desire and the other rubbish they put on is infuriating,
I am, awaiting response from Orange and HTC on this.

debranding UK O2 Desire.

Hi
My desire has firmware : 1.20.207.3 CL171460 release-keys
I'm debating debranding it and putting the latest generic rom on it.
The reason for this is I'm moving from the UK to NZ, but would like to get the 2.2 firmware upgrade.
From what I've read, debranding will allow me to upgrade when I'm out of the UK.
Is this safe to do ? I don't want to brick my new phone !!
Can you advise how I would do this or if there is any other option for me !!
Many Thanks
Hi sorry to pick this one up as not answered but I am in exactly this position.
Bought a Desire from o2 in UK and moved to New Zealand.
VF NZ sim works straight out the box,
but will I be able to 2.2 this phone? My sw is 1.20.207.3.
Obviously dont need any o2 features on this phone as I wont be using their network?
Cheers from both.
Debrand using a ROM and guide, both can be found on this forum. I used a WWE ROM and it worked for me without any issues. You should then get any OTA updates as soon as they're released in your region.
Hope this helps.
Rik.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
download a stock rom from here than up with that

[Q] Returnin Rooted Vodafone Branded Desire back to Stock

Hi,
I'm admitting a certain amount of Noobness here, but can anyone give me clear, comprehensive instructions on putting my HTC Desire back to a Stock ROM so I can install the official Vodafone Android 2.2 update when it comes out?
I rooted to Neophyte 1.6 which is great, but I want to know how to return to an offical Vodafone ROM to bypass any future warranty issues.
I am struggling to find a download link to the Vodafone UK stock ROM and instructions to unroot. Any links/info out there?
I think this might help a few people out...
Cheers in advance
Ok I found what I was looking for about 5 seconds after I clicked send!
http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/07/how-to-unroot-the-htc-desire/
and
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126338_signed.exe
Anyone know how to do this with Vodafone Spain? I cannot see the valid shipped rom.
