When I installed Pocket Plus on my MDAIII, the top of my screen has some sort of brick pattern just above the title bar in every application.
I contacted SPB three weeks and still no reponse.
I now uninstalled the trial version and my screen is back OK. Anyone seen this problem?
Thanks.
Brother... that is not a problem... its the battery indication bar... u can even turn it off.. i guess!.. :?
Lol I used to think the same thing ;-) until I removed the program and soft-resetted, but then after a while I realized everyone had the bar in theres so I thought it ment something
Got it.
Reinstalled Pocket Plus and Unchecked the Task Bar Battery Indicator. The "brick patter" is now gone.
Thanks guys.
I just wish the tech support at SPB is as good as you. It has been more than three weeks and I am still waiting for a response.
LOL
lolllll...... the first time i installllled this software and saw the bricks on top i thought my device was crashed LOL removed the program and the screen graphics went crazy that scared the **** outtta me and i flashed my device and did a reinstall of spb only this time i read the instructions that appear after the installation.....
this is why we have read me an faqs.....which we never read before installing anything
Personally I think it's a great visual battery indicator - and you can configure it thick or thin !! It also changes depending on your Today wallpaper.
Hahahah...this gave me a good laugh coz thats what I thought when I installed the pocket plus..
When I installed it for the first time, I too thought my screen had gone kaput. Now I want that battery indicator so much, I've got Pocket Plus loaded, even though (I think) it slows down my machine considerably!
Guys, I'm noticing i'm having this problem, where by the bottom bar for the windows today screen, is appearing everywhere, especially during volume adjust.
For example, i click volume button, it will bring me to the volume screen right? if i look very very carefully at the bottom, i can see a very opaque image of the bottom bar, even sometimes with the words "calendar" and "contacts" visible! a soft reset immediately solves this, but after a while the problem comes up again.
I've tried the following roms
Aztor
Dutty
Diamond rom
Swift SBL
all with this same issue. Is it a bug, or is it a hardware problem? I tried taking a screenshot and the screenshot does not show the opaque "ghost like" bottom bar with the words calendar and contacts.
I tried switching off Touch Flo 3D, and sometimes after a while, it appears again. It can be best seen when the screen is black (not off, just black) especially when volume adjusting.
Is it just me, hardware problem screen problem, or a rom bug that everyone has?
just to clarify again, despite it being visible to my eyes, SPB screenshot does not show this "ghost like" image, and it looks perfectly fine in the screenshot
I dont see that but I think it can be a sort of 'memory' thing of the lcd-screen.
Same problem here
Hi!
I have the same problem here...
the Ghosting comes after using the phone a lot so I think it might be because the phone heats up.
All the roms I tried have the problem so I think its an hardware issue.
Just keep your screen off for a while (not the phone) and I think it goes away.
Also TF3D has nothing to do with it...The problem happens with or without it on.
If anyone has a soln I'd love to hear it!
great to see that i'm not the only one. was worried sick that it was a hardware problem
Hi Baronic i've nothis more than a month back... see this thread..

also see this thread...

So you or me r not alone..
I used to be worried whether over next few days or weeks whether my screen will get worst, hence i used to keep screen very low brightness (with Spb shell)..
Over last 4-5weeks atleast there is no progress of the screen problem although it still persists..
Not finding a final answer, i've stopped bothering about it and just enjoy my diamond..
U r a senior member so, If u find an answer please dont forget to PM me..
Forgot to mention a tip... Keep brightness lowest and you'll never see it again.. (Although i like my screen to be brightly lit!!)
oh i didnt see those threads. primarily cuz i didnt know wat term to search for lol. if its a memory problem i think it can be fixed. will try and see how it goes, i'll experiment
I've been using my tmous tp2 since it came out, and have hard reset once. the main reason is because after about a month of use i started seeing this small white box popping up on the screen and it started acting a bit slugish. I chalked it up to my early days of installing every app under the sun and some messy uninstalls somewhere along the way. The problem is the white box has reappeared and performance has taken a slight hit. anyone else see this problem?
I have the same issue. Except mine is a black box and I have not noticed any performance decreases. I've tried about 4 different ROMs and all have had the same little box in the upper left hand corner. I've also noticed that it rotates with the screen. Mine usually appears when I switch to landscape. I just assumed that it was apart of the rotation software on the phone. It only annoys me when I'm viewing photos, but eventually I got used to it. It would be nice if there was a fix for it. Anybody else?
US Tmo TP2
Can confirm the same here. I notice most when switching to landscape in the TF3D messaging screen
There are loads of other small issues like this as well. Sigh... I suck it up and keep chuggin forward. I think this is a price to pay for customizing our devices. I am using the stock rom, for now, but have many 3rd party apps installed.
I usually push my devices to the edge, and have found little bugs like this are side effects of using my devices how I Want to use them.
Things like this happen on my HTPC, my laptop, my house PPC (with Wm2003se) and my main work computer. Like I said, a side effect of pushing to the edge.
I think the only way to truly resolve this issue is to start with a hard reset, and only install one program at time... wait a month or 2, and install the next one.. Trying to find the culprit. Or live with it
Can you post a screen of the "wierd little box" so others know what you are all talking about... pls?
it is a very intermittent problem. I don't know how to screen grab either. I will try to take a photo when I see it again. In my case it only shows up after waking up from sleep, and once I do anything the little box goes away, but if someone could point me in the direction of some screen grab software I'll try.

I got a screen shot any ideas?
Ewwww! Glad I haven't seen that yet, stock ATT Rom on my Tilt 2.
{update}
by the way I did a little digging and I started using the program "The Tool" it shows all the the processes running on my machine, and after a reboot I saw fennec running, even though I didn't even starting it. so I killed it, and viola! the little box stopped popping up. I think that I only recently re-installed it so I think I may have found the culprit. Now I need to look into what other crap is running without my knowledge anyone have a list of the minimal processes you need running?
I also want to thank everyone on xda for making me dig a little more.
so here is the list of things I have running from boot. I think I can kill some of these things can anybody chime
Running processes
Nk.exe
Filesys.exe
Cprog.exe
Device.exe
CommManager.exe

connmgr.exe
poutlook.exe
imforwarding.exe (never use this)
voicecmd.exe (never use this)

If by "edit" you mean to not have them start on a fresh boot, you can choose what you want to start up with memmaid. I use it to keep mobile shell from starting by default. So tf3d will run whenever I get an urge for it.
for me this was the background for all cab. reinstalled and installed after my clear clock cab and its all better now.

I'm not sure at this moment. I've experienced this same little box in 4 different roms.
When I press on the very bottom of the screen (edge of the glass), it acts as a click to about 1/3 the way up the screen. This is annoying by its self (and doesn't seem ROM related) but also my screen sometimes locks up, with a point at about 1/3 the way up the screen, and horizontally in the middle, and I can't do anything until I lock the screen and leave it off for a second. More recently, but related to this issue, the keyboard when typing hasn't been accurate. I've tried to type 'a' but got caps or 'q' instead, and I get letters I didn't press.
This is not ROM related, as it started happening on CM6 about a week ago, and I've flashed Ava V9, Myn's 2.2, FrEaKy Evo, and CM6, and I have tried stock kernels, and Kings. It seems to lock up more when plugged in also. I've been watching the forums and I haven't seen anyone else post about this, is it just me? It seems very hardware related, but if there is a fix for it that someone knows about, please let me know.
If I get around to it I might take a video of what I'm talking about, but probably only if it's requested.
I'm currently running Myn's Two-Point-Two with King's CFS #11 and am still getting the issues. I've rebooted, and wiped cache/dalvik, flashed new roms, reflashed, nothing.
I am having the exact problem, except that the spot that keeps getting phantom clicks is at the very top of the screen, so the drop down bar starts freaking out. I downloaded the program 'dotty' and it is showing that a touch is being registered in the expect spot, so I'm pretty sure it is just an issue with the screen hardware. I want to take it to a sprint store and see if they can replace just the screen instead of getting a brand new phone because I have so much stuff downloaded on it and I don't want to lose data/settings.
It happens a lot, but then I will have days at a time that it stops happening...its just very strange.
Its good to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Currently running rooted stock froyo. unrevoked forever. Original June 7th release device.
same here...was happening witht he W/q as well...but when your viewing a white page you can see a light on the screen brighter than the rest...

W/q? what are you talking about there?
also the light bright spot is completely unrelated: evo developing a light spot in middle of screen
Screen burn possibly due to overclock
Bright spot in the lower right of screen

I downloaded dotty, and it's saying my spot is at:
X: 159.6
Y: 363.5
and P which I'm assuming is the size of the area being touched at .937.
I tested P and it does seem to be how big of an area you're touching but the biggest that I could get using my thumb was only .235, so it's a huge area and constantly in the same spot. Some times it gives me two points or one a bit up and to the left.
So recently my mytouch has been getting worse and worse. I'm not exactly sure if it's me or if it's the stupid phone because it's been degrading over time for some strange reason. First of all, the camera is **** for some reason, this is my second replacement phone from T-Mobile and it's extremely blurry for some reason(apparently it's a common problem but not common enough apparently for the tmobile representatives I've met with have seen before). Secondly, it's been becoming unresponsive at times although i kill my apps after i'm done with them(I probably only have internet, and facebook running most of the time). Third, ever since I've factory reset it, it's become very glitchy for some reason. One of the problems is that I would close the physical keyboard but after sending a text and all of a sudden the screen goes black and the only thing to fix it is to hit the power button and press it again to get it off of sleep. Another problem is after i send a text i close the keyboard and the screen repeats but the location of buttons is still where they're suppose to be on the screen.
Pics of what I'm talking about :

Decided to take a picture of me creating the thread if you can even see it lol
Third Problem(Glitchy screen)
http://i.cubeupload.com/ANHZ0t.jpg
As you can see the buttons are on as the phone is on but the screen is black and unresponsive, i realize i can still go to apps while like that somehow but to fix it i just hit the power button which shouldn't be happening though
Fourth(Repeat Screen)
http://i.cubeupload.com/ZLSu8o.jpg
As said before unless you didn't read this happens after i send a message and close the physical keyboard...
And thank you for any suggestions you guys have, help is appreciated, also for taking the time to read the thread
Jezussss!!!!
Dude.. you dont need pictures, and if you post them.. resize them first.
Make the thread want to be readable, like-able. Ask yourself, would you read this thread?? and with yellow highlights that no one can even see????????
You also need to post if you're phone is stock, what rom you are on, what version..

Sorry, thought they yellow would highlight it but it actually made it worse . I think the red is better with the whiteish background....
This is a stock version, I updated the phone to 2.2.2 but i factory reset it and now it says i have 2.2.1 even though i have 2.2.2 features like Wifi Hotspot,Wifi Calling, and images for contacts on messages...
im not sure, i havent had stock phone in a lonnnggg time..
Hopefully someone else can help you out

This is a hardware problem (the repeating screen) that seems to be happening to many people. (it happened to me before which is why i replaced my previous slide). After my 2yr contract is done, im gonna stop getting phones with keyboards because this also happened to my previous htc slider phones

So it's actually because of the sliding part of the phone ?
I'm not surprised, this phone was pretty cheaply made imo, literally a piece of crap :\
I guess I'm getting the new iphone once it comes out and my 2yr contract is done

Oh I see, well I tried to get it replaced but HTC was a bit suspicious when they wanted my credit card before anything ......
I have the same issue with my phone
As I was looking at your photos I realized I have the same issue going on with my phone. Does anyone have suggestions on ways to fix it? Personally, I do not believe it is a hardware issue. I do believe it is more of a software issue. That update that HTC offered is definitely screwed up! Ever sine I updated my phone, all of these problems started. This problem did not occur beforehand! My phone was working fine - before this "software update."
Same Problem
I had the same exact problem with the Repeating Screen (and completely agreed about the camera lol). Yesterday I tried demonstrating to my friend the problem, and permanently blacked out my screen. Now, the phone works in the sense that it receives calls, the home keys light up, and the camera still takes pictures. However, with no screen to select any options or perform any functions, the phone has been rendered completely useless. I, too, would like to figure out what the problem is and if there is any possible fix.
Sorry I couldn't be of much help. Just know you're not the only one lol
My girlfriend had the repeating screen issue back in May/June of this year. It was more than likely a software issue, because it became incrementally worse as the phone opened and closed until it came to a point where absolutely nothing could be done when the phone was moved horizontally.
I had T-mobile replace the phone at the time. Unfortuntely an idiot I work with who was supposed to mail it back didn't, I got stuck with an extra $360 on the bill.
Worked out paying for the phone with them yesterday morning, this morning my girlfriend messages me to let me know the screen is acting up again.
Potential Fix?

I would recommend replacing your flex ribbon. It worked for me, and from other threads I've read, I believe it's the cause of these issues. It's a pretty easy fix ( coming from me, who's far better at breaking electronics than fixing them, lol ).
Here's the flex ribbon that I bought off of Ebay ( it's the cheapest I found and it comes with the tools too ):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/170647168235?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
And here's a good video on disassembling your Espresso:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jgFHuVWlig
P.S.: I'd recommend being more delicate than he was with the volume ribbon though, as mine seemed very frail. Also, this video is for replacing the digitizer, so you only need to follow it to get to the flex ribbon.
A month ago, I had issues very similar to the ones you posted. Sliding my keyboard out ( in any way but gently ) would occasionally split the screen or freeze the phone. Even without using my keyboard, the phone would occasionally freeze while "settling" after the boot animation, and sometimes even during the boot animation. Slowly, those "occasionally"s become more and more frequent, until my screen just went black one day. The phone still seemed to work ( lit up when turned on, made sounds, etc. ), just the screen seemed dead. Figured that I was having a combination of software issues ( the random freezes ), and hardware issues ( split & black screen ), but replacing my flex ribbon suprisingly fixed everything.
This is what worked on my MyTouch 3G Slide
i just keep sliding the phone. and turn off the screen then turn it back on. but not turning off the phone.
