Old Java Manager? - HTC Cavalier

Is there any way that I can get the old Java (big red E) that was in my S630 WM 6.0?
I upgraded to 6.1 and the Midlet Manager for it is horrible...it displays everything with tiny text. And Gmail wont automatically log me in.
Thanks.

i need this too... agree that the Midlet manager in the 6.1 build is awful in comparison to the original.
can someone extract it from the original build please?
Thanks.

java midlet managers working on wm 6

I am not very happy with the new midlet manager on WM6.
I got CUSTLER's version 2.5 rom on my Jasjam and the midlet manager is "Esmertec Java" (Jeodek Build: 20061013)
When I had the WM 5 rom it was different (TAO I think) and I was able to run a lot more midlets. Now I can't even download jar files from some sites that do not recognize this new Java midlet manager.
Where can I find other midlet managers ?
Thanks
Black has a different Java manager i believe also i think lvsw's roms have a different one i know there is a link to download a cab in black 2.5 or 3.0 if i remember right
I think Black has the same version. LVSW (and some variants) have a more recent build of the Esmertec Java and I've had more success with it.
lvsw 3.30.2.1 has jeodek build 20070115.1.1
so where can I find these ? new or other builds ?
is there a site to download them ?
no download link available ?
on the same topic, are there any midlet managers that don't ask for internet permissions? I want one that connects to retrieve my gmail without asking for permission first...
the old one doesnt work properly on the new build iirc.
what do you mean ?
I can tell you guys now that ive tried 2 builds of the esmertec java manager, and both sucks. Ill wait for intent or another better one!

MS$ One Note, how can one add to Official WM6 Dopod Rom

Searched Hi and Lo through search,, but can't find an actual One Note cab/Patch to the Office put on the Official wm6 Dopod Rom,, Any suggestions would be welcome. Would like to overlay a MS OFfice Cab that includes the One note, but not sure how it will integrate with current Rom. Thanks,, Stoker
Onenote installs when you launch Onenote on XP
Just so you know Onenote automaticly installs on ur device once connected and you launch Onenote on your desktop. So even if no roms include it, it doesnt really matter because to really appreceate Onenote you got to be running it on your desktop. If you really need it though here it is, but I recommend you wait for the desktop t install it so its properly embedded with the Office 2007
Thanks JackieBoy,,really appreciate your answer
Thank you for your great advice.

Where can I get the cab file for power point and word and excel for wm6. The rom I have does not have it and I like this rom and don't want to change so I need just the cab files to add it to this rom

JAVA Midlet Manager

The reason I openned up this thread is that there were several problems with Toms truly awesome B&B ROMS, including the latest B&B 4.2.
The problems were of several nature, but with the latest one is that whenever you try to install Java application (.jad/.jar), you end up getting a message stating "low space" even though you have a lot of room in your phones memory.
Before the following I as well tried Intent's latest 1036 Midlet Manager, but to no avail with important apps. Tried installing in main memory as well as on storage card.
Here is what I ended up with ... Steps are simple:
I tried relocating the Jbed files to storage card and then applying the reg key which you need to launch. Was getting the same "low space" error.
Then i downloaded the Cloudyfa's Jbed 20070802.2.1 .cab installer and installed in main memory (effectively overwriting the existing 20070802.2.1 in B&B 4.2 ROM).
Esmertec Jbed has very good Softkey support.
MIDlets, after compilation as .obj, are kept in the same directory, making phone's memory usage even worse. Again, if you manually relocate it, or install it using .cab file onto a storage card, it's on the card that it'll keep its deployed MIDlets on!
Now Opera Mini 4 B2 and Gmail 1.5.0, as well as several other applications are running (though few are still not), and in full screen which is really cool. Only downside for this Jbed 20070802.2.1 is that it doesn’t support for example cookie handling, unlike previous. Apart from that Esmertec Jbed is without a doubt the best KVM/JVM out there right now.
Check these out as well:
Comprehensive Java Midlet Manager Guide - check out on Jbed 20070802.2.1 section
The Definitive Guide to Running 3D-enabled Java MIDlets on Windows Mobile
Hope that was of some help .... latetly there has been a mess with all these Java managers.
Keyboard...
Just to add a tip, Esmertec JBed is a great midlet manager, but some games designed for Mobile phones require the use of a phone keypad to start the game or select options before entering the games themselves. The keyboard icon on the middle of the bottom taskbar isn't visible while running JBed as it runs fullscreen, so you can do what I did....Map the input function to one of your hardware buttons and away you go. Bob's your dad's brother! Switch the keyboard to numeric mode and it acts like a phone keypad!

I have Esmertec Jbed in my Artemis Touch 2.1 full ROM.
Tried to run Opera mini but it did not work. I use my Artemis with Hungarian national settings. (We use ',' for decimal separator not '.' - usually this is the reason for some software malfunction)
I have read in a Hungarian forum if I change back the regional settings to English it will work.
I haven't tried it yet just I wrote it maybe it will help somebody.
Hey Guys,
where can I download Esmertec Jbed from??
I dont have it in my HTC touch

Kavana WM6.1, Esmertec JBed, and Opera Mini: A Complete Solution

Hello everybody,
I've figured a few things out regarding JBed and Opera Mini on Kavana's latest WM6.1 ROM, and I thought I'd share them with you.
Introduction
First off, a quick introduction: Opera Mini 4, a Java MIDlet web browser, is arguably the best browser available for Windows Mobile. It routes traffic through Opera servers, so it doesn't take as much data (or time) to browse the Web, and it has small-screen rendering like iPhone's. Slashdot, for example, loads in seconds under OM, as opposed to half an hour in Pocket IE. Esmertec JBed respects the system's network settings, so it works with the T-Zones $5.99 internet trick.
JBed isn't perfect, though. It has a few glaring issues: network access permissions, inability to use a MIDlet as a systemwide default browser, and ugly fonts. I haven't figured out the last one yet, but the first two are solvable, and here's how.
Network Access Permissions
Most tutorials for fixing this problem refer to the file \Windows\AppDB\Selector.utf; editing this file and replacing the text
Code:
domain=untrusted, \
with
Code:
domain=tckmax , \
fixes the problem under Cloudyfa's JBed. The version of JBed in Kavana's WM6.1 stores its data in \Application Data\JavaDB, and the selector.utf trick doesn't work. The culprit is a missing file named policy.utf, which defines tckmax. I've attached a copy of this file; just move it to your \Application Data\JavaDB directory and the selector.utf trick will work as usual.
Systemwide Default Browser
First off, you can make it easier to access Opera Mini by changing the short_IE.lnk file to open OM instead of PIE. I've attached a version of that file for your convenience; copy it to your \Windows directory and the IE (or T-Zones) button will open a usable browser for a change. This only works if OM is the first MIDlet you've installed; if you have installed other MIDlets you'll have to edit the shortcut (Notepad works nicely) to reflect the change. If OM is your second MIDlet, change s0_ to s1_; third, s2_; and so on.
Also, various MortScript scripts have been floating around that attempt to automate the process of copying a clicked link to the system clipboard, opening OM, and pasting the link into the address bar. I haven't found one that works, but a much better solution is available. The linked post contains a CAB file (which I've reposted here for convenience) that installs an actual application that works well under WM6.1. This one is hardcoded with the assumption that Opera Mini is the first MIDlet that you've installed.
One Other Thing
I recommend backing up your \Application Data\JavaDB directory once you get everything working; you can simply copy it back from your backup after a cold boot to get everything working again. I don't know how to make a CAB file myself, but if someone is up to the challenge, I'd suggest making a single file that installs Opera Mini and the Opera Mini Default Browser application, and optionally replaces the PIE button with OM. Or maybe Kavana can add this to his next ROM
Hope you find this useful!
EDIT: The application I've attached only works if Opera Mini is the first application ever installed under JBed. If you uninstall it and reinstall it, it will get a new suite number. You can look at your selector.utf file and figure out your suite number (e.g., s1_), but I would recommend clearing out your \Application Data\JavaDB folder to reset your suite numbers. Also, it may be a bad idea to edit your selector.utf file in Notepad; a hex editor should avoid corruption issues.

awesome! thanks!
very useful, thanks!
Great Job!!
How do you tell what the s number is for the OM midlet?
When I press the short key cut key I get a "Could not find suite s0_" error message. When I dismiss the message I get the jbed midlet manager window which list Opera Mini and it's the only applet listed. I click on that and Opera Mini opens up.
Perfect, the policy.utf file did the trick. I'm not so sure that I want to replace the iexplore shortcut to OM because there are still some limits to the OM applet over PIE. OM can't launch youtube for example.
Thank you ... thank you - Tim

Kinda bummed.... I cant seem to get this to work. Everytime I edit selector.utf with the new code, my opera midlet dissappears. I have policy.utf in the directory so I am at a loss. ???
Works great on my system - many thanks for this!

I had the same problem. I was using notepad to edit selector.utf which I guess is bad. Try using a hex editor or run this script. http://treo.discussion.treocentral.com/tcforum/showthread.php?t=152078

Yes, it will depend on how many java programs you installed before so that you can get an accurate count.

Opera is the only java app that I have installed and I still get the error, however, I have installed and uninstalled a few times... so I think there may be .db remnants that force it further down the "install list" e.g. s2_
edit: just had to clean up \\application data\javaDB, works fine
Hi all,
Glad I was able to help. I added a bit of information to my original post; I recommend starting with a blank slate, so to speak, because OperaDefault.cab is programmed with that assumption. When in doubt about your suite number, and if you don't care about OperaDefault, then you can look in (or post) your selector.utf file and get it from there.

Esmertec jbed
Can someone point me to forum where i can get esmertec jbed?
I'm looking for a couple of hours already.
Please help....
Having a very strange problem with Opera Mini 4. I'm using Ricky's Rom V5 with my Dash and Opera will not display fonts correctly. They all seem to have horizontal lines going through them and appear to be slightly stretched (that could be my imagination though). I checked the Jbed version and it appears to be the latest one (I never changed it) and I'm not sure where to go from here. Opera boots and runs fast but it's not legible at all. Any suggestions as to what I can try? I searched XDA but couldn't come up with anything. Thanks,

NOT TRUE.
I tried to use from s0_ to s4_, nothing worked....
Untill i opened my selector.utf(windows\appdb) and seen that gMail is "root=s-1_", so i've change my shortcut to point to "s-1_", this did the trick.
Thanx.
