Hi
i have and adsl internet conection with this configuration
IP Adress: 192.168.112.123
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.112.1
DNS: 208.67.222.222
Alt DNS: 208.67.220.220
I enable Internet Conection Sharing then i create an ad hoc connection and connect my htc artemis every thing is fine i can make the connection but i can't have internet on my ppc
can some one please help me how to configure the connection to have internet on my ppc?
enable "internet connection sharing" on ur PC's network card which is connected to router. Enable wi-fi on ur pc and configure wireless network(ssid) in ad-hoc mode. Configure the same wireless settings in ur ppc. dont set any IP address on ur PC wireless card and ppc.
Note: set ur ppc wireless as "work or something". in my ppc, by default it takes the airtel gprs settings.

Hi Everybody,
I can not configure my O2 XDA IIs's Wifi to connect to my notebook's wifi by using adhoc. ( where is the set up page in WLAN to set fixed IP, submask, DNS etc on XDAIIs ?)
My scenario is my notebook connects to office LAN cable. I try to configure WIFI on notebook to let XDA2s can surf internet via Wifi as adhoc.
Thank you for your help
Is there anyone can help me...pls

It's a matter of *Internet connection sharing* (Keyword I guess...)
Your PC shares its LAN connection and you use it by your WLAN.
Depending on your PC OS version you may have wizzards to help establishing the share.

Thanks
My notebook ( XP w/SP2 ) doesn't have the internet sharing feature on the LAN card at
Local Area Connection properties-> Advance (tab)
But I can see this internet sharing option at the same location on my Wireless LAN card properties.
What should i do to enable it on my LAN card?
Thanks

i did it with my imate jam + sandisk wifi sd and sync, share files, do evrything....
just u have to add profile in ur PC/Laptop SSID with operating mode (Ad hoc), then scan with ur XDAIIs untel u find ur pc/laptop and connect.
btw, u need to configure network connection ip for both and make pc (192.168.100.1) - XDAIIs (192.168.100.2) subnetmask for both (255.255.255.0)
thats all

Isn't there a matter of gateway to be configured somewhere in the IP settings of the Wireless ?
I'm not sure of the one needed (PC vs. ISP)
Jean-Jacques
no need, coz the gateway just for a network between server and many PCs or for specific configurations, but at peer-to-peer mode (like computer to computer wire network) no need for Gateway. if u need more info take look here http://www.makeitsimple.com/how-to/simple.htm

im trying to get an internet connection through my wifi connection. i have done search's and lots of people seem to be asking the same question but nobody has the answer.
at the moment i can access my c: using an application called Resco explorer. but i can not connect to the internet. im not sure what setting i should have on the wifi manger and on my pc. im also using AOL as my isp.
PLS PLS help
Edit:
also i can not connect to activesync (version 3.8.0) via wifi. maybe if i was able to connect to this the internet would work as it does when its docked??????
looks like a no then
I got mine working but setting my wireless network adapter to connect to "Work".
Under Settings>Connections>Tasks>Manage existing connections>Proxy Settings> check the "This network connects to the internet" box
then
Under Settings>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks> "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:" to "My Work Network" (and the same with one for private network)
Also in your active sync settings, make sure your connection settings allow network (Ethernet) and RAS connections.
From previous research around this, i'm pretty sure you can only use the internet pass through under "WORK" settings only.
*thought i'd better register and contribute as i've gained a fair bit from this forum.
no good anyother ideas. i have searched through hundreds of threads and still no go
help pls
Make sure you have "Enable Netbios over TCP/IP" checked in your TCP/IP Advanced settings.
i have done this on both my wifi network and my isp network.
still not working
Have you checked if you're getting an IP address from your Wireless Router's DHCP server? Also DNS settings and Gateway address should be there.
You can check this easily by using vxUtil (free )
these are my settings:
tiacxwln1 - tiacxwln compatible wireless
Ip address 192.168.0.2
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.0.1
primary DNS 192.168.0.1
secondary dns
primary wins
seconfdary wins
DHCPs server 192.168.0.1
under serial usb
IP address 192.168.55.101
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.55.100
primary DNS 127.0.0.1
Getting this error when I tried to allow my broadband connection to share with my wifi connection. If I unplug the wifi connection and try and share with another network I don’t get any errors.
Internet connection sharing (ics) cannot be enabled due to IP address conflict on the network. ICS requires the host be configured to use 192.168.0.1 please ensure that no other client on the network is configured to use 192.168.0.1
hmmm ... ever had the same problem. all devices are able to connect to the same router except mine sx66.
then i change the router's channel to '1' .. tada .. now everyone is connected. it might sounds silly, but it worked for me.
try changing your ap wireless channel.

i found the problem with activesync 3.8 and 4.0 somehow, so i reverted back to 3.7, now wifi can sync.
afaik, connecting to internet has nothing to do with activesync. its a direct connection to wifi router. use work location and check the proxy settings if u hv any? (at home i use connect to internet without proxy, at work i use connect to internet with proxy).
Also, for Activsync with wifi, make sure that the WINS server address is that of yr PC u want to sync with.
Have the o2 XDA IIs. Just got it yesterday actually. Playing around with it. I tried out a lot of things and they seem to work fine except for the internet on WIFI. Its working fine on GPRS.
I have manually configured the wifi connection with the WEP, IP address, gateway and DNS.
I open Internet explorer and its not working. it says THE PAGE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR CANNOT BE FOUND. When wifi is off, it connects to GPRS and it works fine.
Anyone else have this sort of a problem? I just came upon this site today. Read about the omega battery pack pro. I installed the trial version. Seems to be a good software. Anyone know if I can obtain it for free? The set cost me a lot already.
ok.. coming back to wifi. Anyone have any ideas how I can make it work?
check dns
if you can see network in batery pack pro check if wifi gives you a dns server and an ip
if it doenst you have to check you wifi config
Hi, I have the same problem too !
Mine is XDA II, no problem to surf net when hook-up to PC throught USB cable, but not with Wifi SD card. I check IP all normal.....any idea ?
how about dns?
do you check if there is one?
you can do that with batery pack pro
and you have to set network card to internet
check it please
How do you connect to the interent? There's a catch to that question because you have the option to choose "My ISP" or "My Work Network" in the Connection Properties. You should select "My Work Network" then tick the box where it says "This network connects to the internet". If you never want to connect via gprs cause it's so damn expensive, choose "My Work Network" for both internet access options.
Hi all, Thanks for response !
My Setting:
Connections > My Work Network > Advanced > Select Networks > My Work Network > Proxy Settings > Tick: The network connects to the Internet, UnTick: The network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet.
Configure Network Adapters > My network card connects to "The Internet"
Tick: SanDisk Wi-Fi SD Card > IP Address > Tick: Use server-assigned IP address, UnTick: Use specific IP address.
Hope to solve it.......Thanks !!
Hi there, I have a big problem that will force me to downgrade to WM5 if I can't solve it.
Here's the facts:
I don't have a telephone line at home and I'm connecting to internet using a flat GPRS/UMTS connection with Vodafone using my TyTN as bluetooth modem (using the old WM5 DUN profile).
Since I upgraded to WM6 (and I love it) the DUN profile and Wireless Modem has been replaced by Internet Sharing application. It works very fine but it messes up my network connection with my other PC.
I used to share the internet connection this way: the bluetooth modem was connected to my main PC (AMD Sempron). The LAN (manually setted up) on this PC was: 192.168.0.1 / subnet 255.255.255.0. The LAN (manually setted up) on other PC (AMD Athlon) was 192.160.0.10 / subnet 255.255.255.0 / gateway 192.168.0.1. It all worked very fine.
Now as I connect the PAN bluetooth internet sharing my main PC (Sempron) acquires a new network address (the TyTN seems to be automatically setted as 192.168.0.1) so the LAN on the PC is 192.168.0.153 /subnet 255.255.255.0 /gateway 192.160.0.1 and the connection works fine but I'm not able anymore to connect via LAN tothe other PC even if I try different LAN settings on the Athlon (I tried to manually set it as 192.168.0.10 /subnet 255.255.255.0).
Who can tell me how to configure the LAN setting on the 2 PCs so that I can access internet enabling PAN bluetooth on the TyTN with the main PC (Sempron) and still continue accessing remote folders and files via LAN on the other PC (Athlon)?
It would be great if I could share the connection with the 2 PCs like I did before, but I'll be ok if I can connect to internet with one and have a working LAN between the 2 PCs.
Hope I explained it well.
Waiting for suggestions. Thank you!
Pick a machine that is to be the internet gateway. Do this by initiating the BT PAN network on the first machine. On the first machine's IP stack, Enable Internet Connection Sharing. On the second machine, use the first machine's IP as your default gateway.
You should then be able to access the internet from both machines.

Ok, I started the BT PAN on my main machine (AMD Sempron) but how do I enable the connection sharing? When I was using the DUN connection I used the Advanced Options section to enable the Connction Sharing, but where do I find this opzion now?
On a Windows Machine the IP range to be assigned when Internet Connection Sharing is turned on is 192.168.0.x. That is also the range used by Internet Sharing on the phone. This is a routing conflict. You cant have a 0.x being handed out from the phone to the 1st computer and then have that computer handing out 0.x addresses to any other computers. The IP range the Phone hands out needs to be regedited to something else like 192.168.1.x As far as I know, you cannot change the address range in Windows Internet Connection Sharing. You will have to do it on the phone.
If this helps.

I think what you meant is trying to use your Defy's as mobile hotspot to connect your laptop which currently setting to your college internet proxy...
In windows 7 it can auto established to a multiple network connections.
The only thing you need to do is setting your internet option connection to which network you want to connect..
Goto Control panel - network & internet - internet option - connections - Lan settings - proxy server - uncheck everything..
I hope I understand you right..
